Always look forward to visiting the Squash Court. Dropped in yesterday for a snack . Sadly very disappointed . On a very damp Saturday the crumpets sounded just the thing. Sadly NO not toasted and cheese, so little you couldn’t taste it. Not toasted crumpets are dull & stodgy. Such a shame as I will probably never return .

My very first time visiting the court cafe. The tables were laid out with loads of space and a very kind young lady was in charge I chose the lemon cake with an early grey tea. The cake was one of the best I have had. I left at 3.45 and it was getting busier Obviously got a great reputation. Very pleased and will definitely return.

Bought some friends back here for brunch after raving about the Victoria sponge and Bad Hand coffee which i had on my previous visit. Unfortunately this time we left disappointed £10.50 for a standard bagel cut in half with one slice of tomato, a bit of ham and a slice of mozzarella with side salad drenched in unexpected dressing? This visits Victoria sponge offering was also disappointing and a measly slice. Cant fault the setting and relaxed garden vibe but value for money needs some serious consideration

The only thing I could recommend was a nice seat in the sun, dreadful overpriced food served by people who have no idea about customer care or attention to detail, had a cream cheese and smoked salmon bagel with chilli flakes, yes I know your thinking sounds nice, but sadly not, a bagel sliced in half with a scraping of cheese you could hardly see, or was it a spread, not sure tbh, served on a side plate with absolutely nothing else poor quality and poor in appearance, could you not put it on a proper plate with maybe a little bit of dressed salad? My partner had the same measly plate with a sliced bagel with melted cheese and drizzled with honey, that’s just a weird combination, obviously nothing else on the plate, I asked her if I should complain and she just said they wouldn’t care anyway based on the attitude when ordering the food, it’s no surprise they take your money up front when ordering, as I’m sure they would have lots of issues at the till. Both bagels a sparkling water and an apple juice, just short of £25. Would I recommend it? not in a million years, would I go back? same conclusion.

Nos quedamos encantados de encontrar el Cafe sirve café excelente, deliciosa y muy imagionative quiche ensaladas, tartas y bollos. Mi primera impresión fue la decoración. . . Yo realmente no shabby chic. No es chic. . Simplemente viejo.

So.. Por favor, no te conformes con la costa en la plaza de la ciudad encontrará la pista de squash y disfrutar... Pd. Arranged to meet a friend for lunch. We chose a table and looked at the blackboard, then went to the counter to order. Unfortunately they had run out of what we both wanted so we had to re choose. The food was nice but my quiche was neither cold nor hot - it had either been inadequately reheated or wasn't refrigerated to start with, couldn't decide which. Despite us being the only customers and there being two members of staff, when we wanted to order tea after our meal, we had to go up to the counter as one was on the phone and the other texting. Likewise when we came to pay. I presume that counter service is standard but when the cafe is empty it makes you feel like you're being deliberately ignored. Overall the food was good and the setting was really nice, but we weren't welcomed with any warmth and the staff were indifferent throughout our visit. I left feeling they couldn't have cared less - probably won't rush back as a result, there are plenty of friendlier places in Wimborne.

On first appearances it looks a pretty little place. Once sat we gave our order and the drinks came first with quite a wait for the 2 salads ordered. Wasn't impressed with the same person plating the food with her bare hands and inbetween breaking off to handle money and constantly tucking her hair back behind her ears. Haloumi and avocado salad was minus the avocado and when this was pointed out the reply was oh sorry theres not enough left. (the bill was adjusted to allow for this). Had to ask for napkin but only 1 person was given one and it seems that unless you ask no one gets one.A plate of leaves and a few slices of tomato were not really what was expected. Needs to have a little more thought to make it a bit more interesting. And certainly a lot more thought about simple hygiene rules.Visited April 2014ValueAtmosphereServiceFood

Nice decor and menu, but there are are some basics to learn. We ordered salads, which arrived without all the advertised ingredients. Mine consisted of leaves, tomatoes, halloumi, but avocado missing. My friend's salad was leaves, tomato and ham. Not very exciting. To be fair when asked we were told an adjustment would be made to the bill, but I would have ordered something different. No napkins....when requested I was given one, but not my friend! On a hygiene side, there are a few issues, one being preparing food and handling money. I think they had been very busy and possibly need more staff, but we were both disappointed. Other food served to the next table looked nice, but the hygiene issues spoilt it for us. Not keen to return.

The Squash Court is a great little find in Wimborne - slightly tucked away from the main town but signposted with a couple of chalk boards, down Deans Court Lane ( at the side of Holmans electrical shop). Its well worth exploring as there's a lovely light and airy interiors shop which is full of unusual gift wrap, cards, present ideas and homewares. I bought 2 colourful coat hook men - perfect for children's coats and more likely to appeal than plain metal ones! They also have a quirky range of clothing so definitely worth a browse.Opposite the shop is the coffee shop, its quite small but would be lovely to sit outside once the weather improves. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and the cakes were delicious! I had the courgette, lemon and poppy seed which was gorgeous and my husband had the banana bread. This is a lovely cafe to take a break in whilst shopping or meeting friends in Wimborne it has a very unrushed atmosphere and gives you a lovely different view of Wimborne on your return. Hope it goes from strength to strength!

I felt destined to find this place when I did. I had known of the existence of "something" here in late Summer whilst exploring with my parents, saw a sign for "eggs" but found no eggs, and walked away again. Glimpsing down the lane a couple of days ago I was surprised to see a sign for "Cafe" and "walled garden"....intriguing. What a lovely find! The Squash Court building is apparently the original private Squash Court for Deans Court, the owners of which own this complex or romantic buildings....and is now a lovely gift shop full of vintagey style things with a French slant and "interiors rustic" toilet...sweet.The Cafe, again vintagey, French slant, is my kind of place...old school chairs, an unusual counter reminding me of the fronts of harbourside houses I saw recently in Northern Spain.I had the place to myself and had tea, served in a teacup that is almost the size of a mug..great! And a delicious and well textured piece of lemon, poppy seed and courgette cake...which I chose because the courgette made it sound a bit healthy. Great "cafe" style music being played too. Price wise, at the higher end but worth it for the quality, ambience and friendly service,I understand this is a relatively new venture for Ali, the owner, well...it's a gem. Good luck for the new season!!

When we moved to the area in early 2020, one of our neighbours told us that Bentleys was his favourite places for a Sunday carvery. Then came Covid and lockdowns, so that we have only now been able to try it out, since its reopening last month. We were very much looking forward to it and, whilst it was OK, it was a little disappointing. Firstly the complimentary hors d’oeuvres. One small rectangular plate was presented to us, but whilst the quantity of what was on there was fine for two, the actual components on it were one chicken skewer, one spring roll and two small, but different, tarts, meaning that, other than the olives and feta, everything had to be cut in half to enable us each to sample everything! The carvery itself was neither the best that I have ever had, but nor was it the worst. I was impressed that the beef was cooked as beef should be, and not cremated, and commented as much to the chef. As this was unusual for a carvery both my wife and I went for it plus some turkey. I have to say that the turkey was very nice, but the beef was rather chewy. Vegetables were OK; I thought that the roast potatoes could have been a bit crispier and the Yorkshire was pretty rock solid. For dessert, my wife chose the lemon meringue which, I think was a good choice, because I went for rhubarb crumble and custard and found the crumble topping to be almost as solid as a pie crust. I'm afraid that it is unlikely that we will be rushing back.

Did not need to book, although it got busy later on. Staff shortage was very evident (Only Barman & Chef). The service was very friendly and Good ambience. Orders taken, drinks got we sat down and waited. The food was delivered by Chef and it was plentiful, and tasted very nice, i still have Choc Fudge Cake and custard stuck to the roof of my mouth:) We did overhear from next table that some of the menu advertised was not available and a table of 10 did seem to wait a while for their courses. I'm sure once some decent waiting staff are engaged service time will improve and overall experience will be fine. Would we go again, definitely, but suggest that until more staff are on board Don't Plan your visit on Timings, Theses could go well over..

We came here for a family dinner on Saturday evening. The pub has free parking' and a large garden area great in the summer. But the atmosphere from the bar man and our waitress was hostile. One for asking if we all could be reseated somewhere else due to being by the entrance door ! And it was almost too much to serve us, and all 4 of us were made to feel uncomfortable. There was a younger female waitress, who was very polite. Our waitress realised she had been rude and gone to far' so she made an effort to turn a negative into a positive. But we were offended by the her reaction which made an ever lasting impression. It was ashame that the Barman didn't follow suit ' he seemed very unhappy when we previous ask him for no ice polity' but he was very put out' that he had to empty the glasses as he forgot after taking our orders. We understand it was busy, but the customer service is just as important as the food, which food we couldn't fault. Unfortunately we won't ever come back or our parents who made the trip here. Very disappointed as this was a special occasion .
