Booked an early evening carvery with friends. We had to ask for our tickets for the carvery as after half an hour we hadn’t been given them. The food was nice, one of the better local roasts, apart from they had no stuffing and said a new batch would be at least 30 minutes. That was slightly disappointing but on the whole the food was good. We split the bill 3 ways and the first couple paid for theirs, we waited for some time for staff to come and take payment for the remaining balance. We had to go up and ask them to come and settle the bill, but when they came over they tried to charge us for the full bill, not taking off the initial payment. We would likely return, but feel like the service could be improved. Wasn’t impressed with the fact they tried to double charge us for a portion of the bill though.

Went to the springhead at the end of a lovely week in weymouth. the pub is beautiful and the location is also amazing however the food does take some time although most of the food was very good the kids meals are ridiculous. Mainly the Hotdog which i can only describe as a tin frankfurter with a tesco bun l. no onions no fries just a hot dog and a bun absolutely crazy and at a cost of £7.50 is ridiculous. the fact the waiter was shocked and said he had not served one before and the fact he was clearly embarassed. The chef who obviously is good at his job surprises me the most as he is willing to serve a halloween hotdog that you can get in costco twice the size for £1.50. Put A bit of a downer on my visit as we was having a great day and didnt want to cause a fuss. my 8 year olds son when he was served this hotdog was. "Ah im having a bad day" due to his dissappointment. Owners should consider removing this from the menu as is just pure embarassing for all involved.

Weekday lunch with friends so pub had few patrons for atmosphere. Located in a posh village the Springhead is in keeping with it's location. 4 lunches, 4 deserts and very clean plates so the food was well received. Ordered the steak medium rare, and it was overdone. The re-fire came back blue and cold. After informing the supervisor, we settled on the pie of the day. Unfortunately, the mash was extremely salty, to the point that every person in our party tasted it and could not stomach it. We could not help but think it was sabotaged. The host did not charge for the dish and did take 10% off, which was kind. The starters (chicken wings, soup, and goat cheese tart) were tasty. The pubs interior, the atmosphere, and the staff were lovely. It's just a shame the main courses let them down.

My friend and I witnessed the incident reported by Jo Hirley on 14th July. We saw her taking a photo of a disabled gentlemen who immediately became upset and accused her of taking a photo of him. She responded with just as bad language and the language gradually got worse and louder. She accused the man of being local and known to the pub which was obviously untrue as we followed him down the road and asked us directions as he was lost and upset by he encounter. This confrontation had absolutely nothing to do with the pub!

London prices for beer - £6.20 for Moretti! Food is gastropub prices for food that wouldn't pass at Wetherspoons. Ordering at the counter for the price being paid is stupid. £19.50 for a burger that looks like it's made of horse meat, with gristle to match. Menu has vegetarian options that aren't marked as such, like a cheese and chutney baguette. The only positives were that the fries were good and the beer and cider was good - albeit they were not worth the price.

A truly awful pub. Gastro prices paid up front with awful food and diabolical service at every level. A midday meal that may nearly finished by 230pm. First off they had a limited amount of beer cos of a “local do” yesterday - cool - what about forecasting and planning ? We drank cider. If you book online they want £10 per head in case you don’t turn up. I honoured that as I like pubs and I don’t want to see more go under. They’re not just after my money right ? Staff were tetchy and rude, univiting. We had to order at the bar in a pub that sold itself as a gastro pub. £100 lighter, the burger buns looked like they’d come out of tescos cheapest range and the meat looked and tasted dire - It was beef ? right? The fish finger sandwich was missing - got rushed out after 55 mins and some prompting… and then we found the fish was undercooked. The fish and chips had a human hair or so in the batter. The gents toilets were like a local night club, with the floor sopping wet -not good for health and safety. Slips trips falls ?? So dog walk ? Take a pack lunch and save yourself from rip off Britain. A thoroughly awful experience. To the owner ? either sell the pub to someone that knows what they are doing, to do or turn it into cheap housing. I’d also fire the bar staff and chef. Google needs to sort out the way it reviews pubs. 57 mins wait then food then more hell. But the pictures look so nice .. Tempted? DON’T !

Excellent pub, came across on a longish walk. Wonderful welcome from the 2 Team Members who restore faith in high standards of hospitality. Menu had a few vegan options- hooray. My vgn chicken burger was one of the best I've ever had and huge, wife's vegan curry not quite the same marked and lacked sauce but still grateful to see some options. Vegan friendly keg range too, all ok apart from Pravha which isnt vegan. Anyway, lovely tucked away, impossibly nice classic English hamlet location, opposite a stream. Didnt want to leave! Revisit October 23, not quite so great as previous visits and less vgn options but still very nice smarter premium country pub Revisit Aug 24 and this place is getting embarrassing. It's 2024 only vgn thing on menu us a burger. That's it. Asked re pasta that had egg. Balsamic salad was the only other choice and if you like beans, tons of onions then fill your boots. This place was great, it is not great now. Special shout to younger server today who tried her best, excellent service checking what was / was not vgn. The other server frankly scared us.. Not again xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

We had the carvery, beef was good and the gammon but the turkey we had was very fatty and the pork was just bits. The potatoes were not roast. We thought they forgot to put them in the oven!! Usually, you get given your meat, and then you help yourself to the rest, but not here, they put the other bits on for you. And the lighting was very poor. Not worth the price you pay for it. Would not recommend and definitely will not be returning.

abusive customers and unforgiving management. it’s such a shame that a pub like the springhead allows itself to be let down by the clientele and management, and how the latter handles issues relating to said clients. there’s been google reviews in the past few months about terrible clientele and i don’t imagine mine will be the last. we came here for an afternoon sunday roast. the food was lovely, and the walk we made before hand was scenic and full of life. upon leaving, i was with my mother who was taking a photo of the outside seating area. an older man stood up, one we’d seen be greeted by name inside by the carvery area. obviously a regular. he began to walk towards my mother, raising both crutches at her whilst threatening her not to take pictures of him. his language was abusive, we could handle this, but the spoilt experience was the reaction of the manager to this abuse towards us. she had told us that she didn’t care about the abusive language, and seemingly blind to the fact that he’d threatened to hit my mother with his crutches, and instead told us that leaving a bad review would damage the reputation of her pub. she had claimed to not know the man, although he’d addressed her by her name when she came outside, and he’d been addressed by his by another member of staff inside. we are paying customers. you do not expect to come somewhere with management that belittles you rather than proactively disputing a situation with a customer they are familiar with. by letting these regular customers speak to tourists like this, you allow yourself to have reviews like mine posted. it’s ridiculous to think that you are not responsible for YOUR regulars. this reflects on how you hold yourself as a business. a terrible shame overall, management needs to have training courses on customer service to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

Not really a fan of carveries tbh. However, after reading the reviews decided to give the springhead a try. Set in a lovely location the springhead is very aesthetically pleasing building. Service was fast and proficient. The merlot we selected was one of the best we've ever had. It's easy with carveries to overindulge and be wasteful resulting in not actually enjoying the quality of the food. Nice to see honey glazed parsnips available. Not something I've regularly seen available before. Nice selection of food, well cooked and served hot. The dessert (treacle tart) was a tad dissapointing. It tasted more lemony than treacle!? The custard that came with it was really nice. Really sweet. Loved it.

Awful service ! We waited for 45 minutes then my husband went to the bar to ask how much longer we would have to wait, he was told we were next to be served , waited another 15 minutes and decided to go and cancel the meal just as we were about to do that the food arrived . We said to the manager/owner who delivered the food that we weren’t happy we had waited an hour she was apologetic and stated she would enquire as to why we had to wait that long . We ate our meal but we still never heard back from the manager so I decided to see her myself, as she couldn’t be bothered to come and explain as to why this had happened her excuse was that she had been told anything about it !!! So I had to go and find out who my husband had spoken to as she didn’t seem To believe what I was saying , After I became very cross because she didn’t seem bothered in the slightest that the service was so bad she decided to offer a free dessert which we didn’t take her up on as we couldn’t be bothered to wait another hour!!!!. The meal was Luke warm which I could have complained about as well but seeing as we had waited an hour for it didn’t bother . Instead I will put it down to experience never go again and not recommend it to anyone AWFUL .

The service was slow and not knowledgeable about drinks/ cocktails available. They also forgot how the fish of the day was being served. The starters took an hour to arrive and the main took another 30mins after we finished the starter. The starter was not hot, both the steak and the fish were over cooked. The manager did come and apologize, gave us a discount and free desserts, but I don't think we will be rushing back anytime soon. Great pub food. Carvery was very good; veg a bit too much on the crunchy side for my taste. Service was attentive. All in all a most pleasant experience.

Cannot go far wrong in this lovely rural establishment. We visit ofter for something to eat either off the main menu in the week, which changes seasonally, or a Sunday roast from the carvery. The food is always decent, staff are very friendly, welcoming and hospitable. If there's ever an issue it is dealt with in fine form. The cost never hurts the pocket. We'll be back soon.

Such a lovely setting and we found the pub very inviting, friendly staff. The best thing for us was how the fur babies 🐕 were treated. Food was excellent and we enjoyed the cosy atmosphere that much we stayed all afternoon.

Amazing friendly drinking hole, fantastic food. Meal deals throughout the week. Staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Gin Saturday, and most importantly super dog friendly. Carvery Sunday is a must if you're able but booking is essential, as the word is out about the best Pub roast/carvery in Weymouth.

Fish and chips we're lovely. The crumble was amazing and plenty of it. Definitely proved I had a separate stomach for dessert. Very dog friendly, doggo was very happy with the biscuits

This place unfortunately is trying to just be a restaurant instead of a pub, there’s no seating at the bar , they rush you to a seating table , booked online for 7.30 didn’t get main meal until 9pm and it wasn’t even busy , the table next to us refused to pay as they had waited equally as long, this place used to be a great pub but now unfortunately just wants people sitting and eating we won’t be returning sad really as we are locals and would use this pub all year round but we will take our hard earned money else where.

Totally professional service with respect for my allergies. Sadly not something I can often say! Conversations with both Elliott-owner & Alex-chef to ensure I had no problems & an enjoyable relaxing experience. Cannot thank you both enough. 😊😊

What on earth has happened to this pub? I’ve visited it many times and wanted to go for a quick drink on the 30th December. No one was eating there but we were told that we could only sit where no tables had been laid. That meant that we were stuck on a high table for three - my mother is 78 and found it difficult to sit down. A woman walked past and her dog, who wasn’t under control, tried to attack my mum’s small dog. The barmaid, who was probably new and being trained, didn’t know the difference between a half pint and a pint. The back room was full of a group who allowed their children to lie on the floor blocking the access to the fire exit and toilets. All in all it was a very poor experience and I don’t think I’d be willing to ever go back again.

Very friendly pub. They have a staff member stationed to welcome customers at the door. Very dog friendly and they even have a dog food menu One of the largest gin selections I have ever seen with a gin happy couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon. No cask cider but the cask beers are very well kept

Great place, food was not bad but nothing amazing. A standard roast. Duck pate was lacking - two small pieces of bread, unseasoned salad and pate. No butter or anything extra.

Very disappointed with the food, I am local and have visited before but on this occasion our visit was not up to standard. My son had a blue moo sandwich which at £10 was not cheap, more like a mixed
