Lovely meal, lots of GF options and fabulous services from Brooke who was extremely helpful and attentive.

Beautiful pub, a little wait on food but well worth it. The staff was very friendly and happy with the service. Fabulous menu.

After many years of coming to this pub we were left with a horrible taste in our mouth after this most recent visit! Service was slow as we waited 10 minutes to be served at the bar for drinks. Bar staff walked in and out of the bar without acknowledging us not even a hello, smile or a “i’m just busy at the moment I’ll be with you shortly”. After waiting 10 minutes the bar staff member Grant finally spoke to us telling us we needed to show ID. Not a hello or asked us for our order but that was the first thing he had said to us. We had not been acknowledged which I had mentioned to him which he said he was busy which is understandable but a simple hello would have worked kindly and welcoming to paying customers! I mentioned it was rude and he asked us if we wanted to be served in an atrocious tone. This lovely young lady had served us after hearing this conversation. She was nothing but lovely and very polite! She had also apologised for Grants behaviour towards customers! She is an absolute credit to your team! I would be seriously concerned if it is that bar member who runs this establishment after speaking to multiple customers like that! We noticed multiple people leaving due to the poor customer service. Unfortunately this has ruined mine and others experience of this lovely place. It’s things like this that ruin and tarnish the name of this pub. Especially when you have some hard working staff!

Better than I remember! I had the pleasure of visiting three times during the Easter weekend. Had a fantastic night watching the Lego Men play. The pub has such a vibrant yet cosy atmosphere with a wonderful Land Lady. I also popped back for a roast on Easter Sunday. Food was 10/10 with a fantastic range of options and huge portions. The play area is a massive advantage for families and it’s a dog friendly establishment.

Lovely country pub in a small village/hamlet close to Weymouth, needed a stopover on our way to Berkshire from Cornwall. They very kindly let us stay in our campervan and we had an amazing Sunday Roast. Stayed in the pub until closing and had a lovely chat with the landlady and her beautiful German Shepherd Iggy (I think)

We sampled the legendary carvery, plus drinks, on a Sunday. It was easy to book on line, the staff were friendly. I was initially disappointed tgat we couldn't help ourselves at everything, but the server was more than happy to pike on as much as we wanted (and we could've gone back for more veg if we'd have wanted to)

Haven't been to the Springhead for a very long time, but visited yesterday. The food was amazing, so much favour, we had the sharing bread, spring roll, duck and The Springhead burger. The atmosphere was great with, friends catching up families with well behaved children and couples having a romantic evening The staff were friendly and I could use my Blue Light Card.

A stunning spot in a quintessential English village. We walked through the village from Seaview holiday camp for dinner . It is a beautiful location overlooking a duck pond and the pub itself is lovely inside. A very relaxed and tranquil atmosphere and the food was fantastic. It is a place I would love to revisit

My family and I visited here for my mum's 60th birthday, whilst on holiday in Dorset. There were 18 of us! Wow. The most accommodating staff, the most beautiful location, and the best food. Despite having to make changes to the booking, and adding food, and the restaurant being fully booked - all the food came out hot and at the same time! The brisket burger was the best I've ever had, and my sister said the duck was the best meal she has EVER had out!! I cannot thank the staff enough for letting us bring cake, sing, blocking off a part of the restaurant for us, being nothing but polite and friendly. I wish I didn't live 4 hours away, because this would be my new favourite restaurant! They were amazing.

What a find. We had been recommended and on holiday from kent we tried it out. Beautiful village with stream outside pictureperfect tbh...Superb atmosphere, great selection of drinks and the food, well absolutely superb... its so important to support local pubs and when they are this good its easy to support and recommend. We visited on a Tuesday and had 'pie and pud' night. Homemade pies, I had beef and Stilton... packed full of filling with mash, red cabbage, veg and then an amazing pudding . I cannot recommend this pub more highly...

Fantastic!!! Treated my friend to an early birthday meal. He chose the fish & chips which dwarfed his plate and completely filled him up. I had a sirloin steak, well done with tasty potato slices and flat mushrooms, all cooked to perfection..!! Whilst my friend opted not to have a dessert, I dove in with a recommended brownie with ice cream which was excellent! Overall a most pleasant, friendly and enjoyable evening meal, a first time visit which Whilst we are not local, I do hope that someday i can return to the Springhead Inn...

23/3/25 .... Sunday Carvery 12pm sitting Enjoyed our visit to Springhead, very good service, staff and venue, however. The generous pile of food provided was let down by some extremely low quality vegetables. The beef and turkey were of the highest quality, the pork looked a little underdone. The greens and cauliflower were from the freezer and a bit wet and soggy. The roast potatoes had been airfried? Smallish hard round bullets, once broken open provided a bland softish interior to cope with. I can't really describe the.massive Yorkshire Pudding accurately, which looked burnt flatish and seemed to have been cooked overnight. Maybe a larger plate would provide space to arrange the food..

We went for Sunday Lunch and were not dissapointed. The Whitebait with homemade Tartar Sauce starter was delicious, big enough to share for two. The carvery lunch was very good with my beef and Pork cooked perfectly. The beef pink and the pork soft with lovely crackling. All of the staff were very friendly and extremely efficient. We would definitely recommend The Springhead. TOP Marks. Thank you.

Pub in a lovely location which is just about all the good things I have to say about this place, thought we were in for a real treat but the bar staff were rude, went to a table with no reserved signs to be abruptly told by the bar staff it's reserved, we then left as on Friday afternoon we had a similar experience unfortunately, i know running a bar can be stressful but remember that is NEVER the customers fault. Thank God for the spice inn, saved the day with thier delicious menu, friendly bar staff and fantastic live music.

Top notch restaurant with great food and consistent quality.

Being a vegetarian I was surprised that the person was touching the meat with gloves and then touched my food with the same pair of gloves.

Very disappointed with the quality of the food on this occasion. The batter on the haddock was overcooked and inedible, the duck was tough. Service was fine. I should have pointed it out at the time but didn’t want to spoil the birthday party.. we will not be recommending this venue.

Very tasty dinner, I had an amazing burger, washed down with a delightful IPA. Warm and welcoming service.

Superb service, atmosphere and food at the Springhead. So good to return to my hometown after a long time away and revisit a place that has always had an outstanding reputation. Landlady, Jo, made us feel very welcome from the initial phone-call booking and on arrival in person. Excellent waiter/waitress service. Good vibe in the Springhead, felt totally welcomed and suited out family of four. We will definitely return and I unreservedly recommend this venue for food, atmosphere and value for money. On Valentine’s night we stayed in our motorhome at The Springhead at Sutton Poyntz, near Weymouth. We had the Valentine’s Day set menu and the food was fantastic. We booked to stay over when we booked the table, they are very dog friendly with a doggy menu, and all the staff made us feel very welcome. We were directed to the top carpark at the rear of the pub where we tucked ourselves into a sheltered corner. The pub has lots of character and the village is beautiful with lovely walks around the village and nearby. Definitely recommended and we will be back soon!

I can see it has potential but unfortunately on the very quiet we visited there were no staff to be seen. Finally one very stressed and visibly sweaty man appears, has little knowledge of the drinks on offer and seemed panicky??!! Off putting to say the least Tables were sticky, floor with food remains... NICE🙄 After around 20 minutes another member of staff arrived... to get himself a drink from behind the bar then wanders off again Super 👌 🤣 Didn't bother to stay for another

Anniversary meal my partner booked first impressions pleasant oldy pub sort I like starters spring rolls lovely and tasty. I ordered Duck looked good I starter to tuck in everything was cold or Luke warm potatoes veg and duck my partners food piping hot but he called waiter who took my meal back to kitchen approx 5 mins later returned with food gravy was hot but unfortunately hardly any food on my plate was, waiter asked if it was OK we said no but at this stage I just replied I'll eat it as is else I'd be only one eating. The folk on table behind us ushered waiter over their food also cold so they had to wait for it to be reheated. Kind of spoiled the evening. I then used the ladies before leaving wish I hadn't not clean looked dirty wallpaper hanging off toilet rolls on cistern the seats didn't fit on the toilets I sat down with caution the most cleanest areas Kitchens and toilets to be absolutely spotless and presentable let down for a country pub in a apparently up market area Springhead you've done yourselves a disservice. UPDATE. the landlady has been intouch and I class myself as far minded person so we will return for complimentary food and hope the facilities are improved. Will report back after visit. Update returned last night 07/02 we had our complimentary meal Jo and her team served us very well meals tasty and hot the duck very slightly chewy but that's not chefs fault we had a very relaxed evening staff friendly log burner making us warm staff gave us time to eat not rushed which i liked didn't use the toilets hopefully they are being updated we will return. Thank you Jo for stepping up and resolving my issue with dignity. Amended my score

Bottomless Brunch at one of our local pubs..... food was delicious but not enough for 5 people. Spin to win game was great and we won more drinks on 2 occasions but as there was plenty of lovely alcohol and cocktails on offer it would be better to have a little more food instead. We were looked after well in lovely atmosphere... thank you

I recently visited The Springhead pub and was absolutely blown away by the incredible food and atmosphere! The juicy burger was one of the best I've ever tasted - perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The kofta was equally delicious, boasting a delightful blend of spices that left me wanting more. What's more, the ambiance was warm and inviting, creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable dining experience. The staff were attentive, friendly, and truly went above and beyond to make my visit enjoyable. I highly recommend The Springhead for anyone seeking mouthwatering pub fare in a welcoming environment. I can't wait to return for another fantastic meal!

Super cosy pub located in the village of Sutton Poyntz. Walked in on a very cold day and their log fireplace was lit which made the ambiance even cosier. Service was great and food was good. It wasn’t excellent because the brioche from my burger was a bit hard. One would expect brioches to be soft. The coleslaw and chips were just perfect though! Apart from the brioche the whole experience was great.

I met my friend here for Friday lunch to catch up and then go for a walk. The pub was quiet when we arrived, there was a book group going on in the back room which was lovely to see the pub being used. I was welcomed very warmly and shown to a lovely table by the fire. We both had the fish and chips which was outstanding, both men that serviced us (sorry I didn’t get your names) we’re really lovely and friendly. I would highly recommend and we will be returning. First class

Great cocktails, fabulous pub grub and authentic English country inn atmosphere.

Imagine a freezing cold early evening . You step inside the Springhead and the friendliness of the staff , the prettiness of the interior and the warmth of the beautiful log fire hits you ., Tonight , Friday , is special fish and chips night . Oh no .. the batter on the fish is so good you have to eat it all !! We come from time to time for the Pie night , Tuesday . Those pies are amazing . Damn it .. now we will have to come regularly for the Fish and chips too !!! Food is superb and very very reasonably priced. Atmosphere is lovely . Just try once and you will be hooked !! Lovely pub !

Excellent meal &service.nice atmosphere.

Food was good pub food, but service was poor. The pub wasn’t particularly busy but we waited 25 minutes for someone to come and take our order, then had to approach a waitress to ask them to do it. Ordered a second glass of wine, waited 15 minutes then again had to get up and ask when it was coming. Was given no apology for the delay. Our waitress was curt and unfriendly.

We enjoyed a wonderful carvery Sunday Kate lunch with our family. It was perfect with exceptional quality meat and a wonderful selection. Of vegetables. Thank you and we will be sure to return.

Lovely Sunday carvery and very pleasant staff. We were one of the first groups in and it was a bit chilly, even though there was a lovely log burner.

Located in a gorgeous dainty village, so cute. We had starters and mains, mostly the food wad delicious some small issues with the starters, the squid was fairly chewy. The atmosphere was nice but the service lacked a little at times. Things weren't communicated that great between staff, customers, and food wait times. Overall, we all enjoyed our food and the pub in general.

I can't believe I haven't been here before. Lovely atmosphere, friendly hosts and really super food. The starter and main were divine and really great value. Will definitely be back before long, a real find!

Unfortunately, although the food looked good, many of the dishes were lacking in flavour and quite bland. Such a shame as the pub itself is very quaint and is in a lovely location.

Pleasant and beautiful experience

Yorkshire puddings like cardboard, roast beef stringy and raw in places, broccoli not Al dente, nice parsnips, carrots and roast potatoes, arrived for 12.30 didn't get our carvery ticket till gone 1pm, then told at 2.30 that the people have arrived for our table, so basically asked to leave, all this for £17.95, sorry will not be returning, btw we did mention the raw beef and just got "oh sorry" for a reply

My 3rd visit. Food is hit and miss. Some dishes are ok and others are awful. Toilets are abysmal! 😵 The overall decor and surroundings are pleasant and there is reasonable ambience. Pleasant, helpful staff.

Starter was very nice. My partner ordered Duck. Everything on the plate was cold. Reheated apparently. Hot grave on top of the Duck. Came back still cold. I ordered Pork belly. Very tasty and hot. By the time my partners meal was so called reheated I had eaten my meal. Not a good anniversary meal. Would have been nice to have eaten our food together. Customers behind us also complain about there duck being cold. So the moral of the story is that if you eat here don't order Duck.

Went for lunch and can have no complaints at all. Food and service was excellent,both fires were lit which made it extra cosy. Will be returning.

Staying in the area this week, looked for somewhere to eat this evening and thought we’d give this a try. Nice ambience, fire on the go and they’ve made some effort for Halloween which the kids appreciate. The food was disappointing though and the service was slow. It was around 90 mins for the mains to come out including a kids meal. I think the server missed the fact i’d finished my starter and had not put through the mains to the kitchen. When we gave a reminder it was still a decent wait until the mains arrived. The spring roll starter was cremated inside and the curry although tasty and aromatic was let down by the tough beef and crunchy rice. We had not eaten much today so we ate the food anyway as given the time we weren’t going elsewhere. It is half term and perhaps they were busier than a usual mid-week and struggled a little. Disappointing evening.

One of the BEST pub restaurants in Weymouth Bay that I went to with my husband and baby. Very cosy and stylish, the log burner was on and it really created a warm cosy atmosphere with soft lighting and got busy very quickly so would definitely recommend booking ahead. Food was absolutely delicious and chef's and staff were very considerate. Lovely pub would highly recommend and in a beautiful location part of town by a pretty river. Also loved the cocktails!

Went for a Sunday carvery. Table for 3 @ 2PM on a Sunday. Glad we booked, extremely busy! Service was prompt, carvery was 10/10 and couldn't fault anything. Prices were reasonable and the sticky toffee pudding sauce was to die for! Will definitely be returning again :-)

Looking at the reviews they must have been for the weekend when they had a full staff working. We went on a Tuesday (4 people, mums birthday) and got the loud annoying barmaid and the junior chef that could not cook a hamburger and burnt a quiche..!! Good menu choice but is above the pay grade of the cook in the kitchen. This is the second time we have eaten there earlier in the week, the last time was a Wednesday and the same problems. But what was really annoying was the wait times.. Only one other table of two (!) when we got there and we had to wait 30 mins for the starters after ordering and nearly 40 mins for the main courses after our starters were cleared. The annoying waitress/bar person could not be bothered to stop talking to her two mates at the bar to answer the telephone (and when she finally did, the whole pub could here the conversation she was having on the phone..!) or to answer the ring from the kitchen to say the food was ready. The other table having the same problems. Will not be going back now...

What a lovely way to spend the last day of our holiday just wish we had sought to find this picturesque village Restaurant and Pub earlier. Lovely hosts, warm atmosphere, great food, in a beautiful setting with flowing water, ducks and weeping willows. A place not to miss, highly recommend.

Table booked for 6pm. Table not ready so got a drink from the bar and were then shown to our table. Sat by the carvery and waited. Eventually asked a waiter if it was just carvery, was given a menu and told it was. OK fine. Went to order only to be told we need a ticket. The waiter didn't tell us that when he gave us the menu though. Waited and waited nobody came to give us a ticket, Eventually spoke to another waiter who said they were waiting for the queue to go down before they gave out any more tickets. A couple arrived at the next table and then had their order taken by a lady. I asked her when we would get a ticket and she advised 2 minutes. At least 10 minutes later she bought us a ticket. Even the man at the carvery mentioned us coming up nearly an hour earlier. The food was very good but the service was dismal. Have been there a few times and the food has always been good. It is such a shame. Won't go back and wouldn't recommend

Had the Sunday carvery and it was fantastic. Choice of 4 meats & all the accompanying vegetables were locally sourced and expertly cooked. Attentive & pleasant staff. Need to book in advance as it's so popular. 100% recommended.

Every time we visit weymouth, the springhead, a must for roasts.

Booked an early evening carvery with friends. We had to ask for our tickets for the carvery as after half an hour we hadn’t been given them. The food was nice, one of the better local roasts, apart from they had no stuffing and said a new batch would be at least 30 minutes. That was slightly disappointing but on the whole the food was good. We split the bill 3 ways and the first couple paid for theirs, we waited for some time for staff to come and take payment for the remaining balance. We had to go up and ask them to come and settle the bill, but when they came over they tried to charge us for the full bill, not taking off the initial payment. We would likely return, but feel like the service could be improved. Wasn’t impressed with the fact they tried to double charge us for a portion of the bill though.

Went to the springhead at the end of a lovely week in weymouth. the pub is beautiful and the location is also amazing however the food does take some time although most of the food was very good the kids meals are ridiculous. Mainly the Hotdog which i can only describe as a tin frankfurter with a tesco bun l. no onions no fries just a hot dog and a bun absolutely crazy and at a cost of £7.50 is ridiculous. the fact the waiter was shocked and said he had not served one before and the fact he was clearly embarassed. The chef who obviously is good at his job surprises me the most as he is willing to serve a halloween hotdog that you can get in costco twice the size for £1.50. Put A bit of a downer on my visit as we was having a great day and didnt want to cause a fuss. my 8 year olds son when he was served this hotdog was. "Ah im having a bad day" due to his dissappointment. Owners should consider removing this from the menu as is just pure embarassing for all involved.

Food not bad just dont order the hotdog. a bun and a frankfurter. £7.50 no chips no onions just embarassong that they sell these when the rest of the food is of much better quality

Weekday lunch with friends so pub had few patrons for atmosphere. Located in a posh village the Springhead is in keeping with it's location. 4 lunches, 4 deserts and very clean plates so the food was well received. Service was very good but I think madam was trying to keep busy so thank you for that.

The meal was delicious, plenty of choice of veg

Ordered the steak medium rare, and it was overdone. The re-fire came back blue and cold. After informing the supervisor, we settled on the pie of the day. Unfortunately, the mash was extremely salty, to the point that every person in our party tasted it and could not stomach it. We could not help but think it was sabotaged. The host did not charge for the dish and did take 10% off, which was kind. The starters (chicken wings, soup, and goat cheese tart) were tasty. The pubs interior, the atmosphere, and the staff were lovely. It's just a shame the main courses let them down.

What a lovely place, food was excellent. Very quick service

My friend and I witnessed the incident reported by Jo Hirley on 14th July. We saw her taking a photo of a disabled gentlemen who immediately became upset and accused her of taking a photo of him. She responded with just as bad language and the language gradually got worse and louder. She accused the man of being local and known to the pub which was obviously untrue as we followed him down the road and asked us directions as he was lost and upset by he encounter. This confrontation had absolutely nothing to do with the pub!

London prices for beer - £6.20 for Moretti! Food is gastropub prices for food that wouldn't pass at Wetherspoons. Ordering at the counter for the price being paid is stupid. £19.50 for a burger that looks like it's made of horse meat, with gristle to match. Menu has vegetarian options that aren't marked as such, like a cheese and chutney baguette. The only positives were that the fries were good and the beer and cider was good - albeit they were not worth the price.

If you book online they want £10 per head in case you don’t turn up. I honoured that as I like pubs and I don’t want to see more go under. They’re not just after my money right ? Staff were tetchy and rude, univiting. We had to order at the bar in a pub that sold itself as a gastro pub. £100 plus lighter, the burger buns looked like they’d come out of tescos cheapest range and the meat looked and tasted dire - It was beef ? right? The fish finger sandwich was missing - got rushed out after 55 mins and some prompting… and then we found the fish was undercooked. The fish and chips had a human hair or so in the batter. The gents toilets were like a local night club, with the floor sopping wet -not good for health and safety. Slips trips falls ?? So dog walk ? Take a pack lunch and save yourself from rip off Britain. A thoroughly awful experience. To the owner ? either sell the pub to someone that knows what they are doing, to do or turn it into cheap housing. I’d also fire the bar staff and chef. Google needs to sort out the way it reviews pubs. 55 mins wait then food then more hell. But the pictures look so nice .. Tempted? DON’T !

Spent the day at the cider and dog festival very warm welcome , well organised . Great family event Fabulous live music and great food

Nice people, good food, great surroundings.

An excellent country pub and restaurant that serves fantastic food. We booked a family dinner for six and we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were attentive and helpful and the extensive menu caters for a wide range of tastes. We will definitely be returning in the future. The pub is set in a very picturesque Dorset village which is well worth walking round before or after a visit to eat.

Lovely family and dog friendly pub and eatery, give it a try. Decent prices, just don't drink the coffee it's rank. 🤭

Awful service rude waitress not apologetic at all for terrible food waits over an hour everyone was complaining and they were not really bothered that no one was happy. Probably why they take the money first. Food wasn't too bad when it eventually arrived . But the wait ruined the mood specially when you have children and dogs with you. Didn't even seem very busy ! Lovely setting best thing was the pond / stream outside the pub .

Excellent pub, came across on a longish walk. Wonderful welcome from the 2 Team Members who restore faith in high standards of hospitality. Menu had a few vegan options- hooray. My vgn chicken burger was one of the best I've ever had and huge, wife's vegan curry not quite the same marked and lacked sauce but still grateful to see some options. Vegan friendly keg range too, all ok apart from Pravha which isnt vegan. Anyway, lovely tucked away, impossibly nice classic English hamlet location, opposite a stream. Didnt want to leave! Revisit October 23, not quite so great as previous visits and less vgn options but still very nice smarter premium country pub Revisit Aug 24 and this place is getting embarrassing. It's 2024 only vgn thing on menu us a burger. That's it. Asked re pasta that had egg. Balsamic salad was the only other choice and if you like beans, tons of onions then fill your boots. This place was great, it is not great now. Special shout to younger server today who tried her best, excellent service checking what was / was not vgn. The other server frankly scared us.. Scampi portions in kids’ meals very small (3 pieces!); dog dirt in the children’s play area; gastro pub prices but you have to get your food yourself on a beeper system; gas had run out at the bar so no lagers or soft drinks on tap; average pub food; chips were excellent; relaxing atmosphere in the garden.

Well, what can I say about this place. The staff were nice and courteous, ( except the guy carving the meat ) but the food was not very good. We had the carvery, beef was good and the gammon but the turkey we had was very fatty and the pork was just bits. The potatoes were not roast. We thought they forgot to put them in the oven!! Usually, you get given your meat, and then you help yourself to the rest, but not here, they put the other bits on for you. And the lighting was very poor. Not worth the price you pay for it. Would not recommend and definitely will not be returning.
