Best spoons I've been to! The food was perfect along with the staff being absolutely lovely. I was served by Jack who is a credit to your pub, it really made my day having a conversation with this kind gentleman, I wish more people were like him!

Great place for a drink before and after the cinema.

A good place to relax at the weekend there is music after 9 pm at the weekend there is a small pattio. Unfortunately the toilets are dirty, the tables are wet and sticky.

This was a fantastic pub for drinking, with a detailed layout shown by the pillars throughout! These are accompanied by separators and golden frames at the seating areas, different lights add much to the feel too. I had a refreshing pint of Carling, appreciating the leaf-patterned seating at a very clean table!

Spon Gate is an excellent choice for a casual outing. The food is consistently delicious, offering a great mix of hearty pub classics and lighter options to suit all tastes. Ordered hot chocolate. Machine ran out of milk. Informed staff in the bar counter. Nobody bothered to attend to it or refill the milk. Worst customer service. I witnessed a staff quitting in the middle of the work as well. Attitude of the staff felt rude. I almost waited 45 minutes there but no use. Worst pub ever

As usual The Spon Gate was excellent. A typical Wetherspoons pub, sensible prices paid here for your choice of quality beers, wines, spirits and food. Staff are considerate and thoughtful. Well done Tim Martin and thank you for providing the general public with a good choice of eats and drinks at prices that are not driven by greed.

i ordered chicken bites and chips and the chicken was pink. im very picky when it comes to chicken and i’ve never had a problem at any other wetherspoons before. this was my first time at this wetherspoons and it wasn’t a very good experience. i won’t be coming back here. the worker didn’t even apologise, offer anything or come to discuss the incident. instead he took the plate away, came back outside from the kitchen and shouted across the pub that the chicken wasn’t pink and it just had grit in it. me and everyone with me seen the pink chicken with our own eyes. even if it was grit which it definitely wasn’t, there shoudlnt be grit in the chicken anyway.

It's a spoons, but good service and a general ambiance what's not to like. Food was fine as expected. Would return as its value for money.

It's weatherspoons. So you know its cheap and cheerful, usually a nice building and decent service. You can't go wrong.

We love Go to the Spon gate bar, but unfortunately the DJ has been very tribal and all he been playing a stupid and girly songs makes people falling sleep I wish the owner can replace the DJ and make it the bar more joyful

It is what it is. But in regards to wetherspoons, it's really decent. Quick service, only issue I have is the toilets. The toilets are baaaaad. Doors missing or not locking, one or two usually blocked. Not good.

I visited Weatherspoon for the first time back in Cornwall and found it to be trashy and never went in another one. After spending the whole day trying to find a good place to have a nice steak and chips I decided to go to Weatherspoon and I was nicely surprised. I had a great dinner and then went to watch a film. The waitress was amazing! Thanks for the chat and the lovely food. Ok, it is not a 10 star restaurant but the food is very nice! I had steak with chips and peppercorn sauce + jacket potato and grilled vegs. Yummy! Ill be back!

Popular spacious Wetherspoons usually with decent real ales choice often cheaper than some other Wetherspoons in city centre. Can be very busy but decent service and good value food as with most Wetherspoons.

As always everything is a matter of opinion not the best Wetherspoons I have been in, but the service was excellent and the bar staff very friendly so that helped compensate for a bit of a peculiar atmosphere but the third was ok. Excellent value of course

Only spoons I've seen with a disco deck. They have loud music on Friday and Saturday nights. Nice pub, but avoid if you're under 25 .

Cool oasis. We only stopped for quick refreshment. No food as too early for T. Nice basic spoons. Short walk from the ramada hotel. ( if u don't get lost, like we did 🤪).

I had a mixed grill yesterday in this morning it left me feeling really bad I'm sick I'm not only me my mate is the same and also I asked for the mixed grill for the steak to be rer and they said we can't do it like that I don't think they really know what they want about but you know it's left just really really poorly

Had a brilliant night out Saturday with the DJ and the music with a fabulous atmosphere. Would consider going again however did not try the food. Was impressed 👍

First time visitor. Beautiful venue and very helpful staff. I worked for many years in support of folk with additional needs and noticed wider aisles for easier access too. Look forward to visiting again in the future.

Guinness always good in Wetherspoons pubs but not at this place, taste of chemicals, didn't stay, was told someone would check it!!never came back to me!

Visited on Friday, February 23, 2024. Nice atmosphere. Helpful staff delivered efficient but friendly service. Food and drink spot on. WCs were spotless – and the same could be said throughout the pub. We will return to this pub next time we're in Coventry and we will recommend it to others.

No longer a pub they concentrate on food. Bring back the local beer darts and dominoes

Popped in with family for brunch before going to the panto on Boxing Day. Fairly quiet so no problem with service, food was piping hot which can sometimes be an issue at Wetherspoons pubs

Lunch time midweek visit to The Spongate. Ordered an American burger ,a small offering (think happy meal size)Bland and texture of mulched cardboard accompanied by 2 slices of cucumber and a quarter tomato. My guest'ssteak was sent back aa undercooked .I did raise my concern with a waiter who left without resolution requiring me to seek him out a second time. This should have been dealt with first time .I had to request a refund of my uneaten meal.Steak was returned rather than a fresh one being prepared. A first and disappointing visit to this establishment.

Not the 'spoons fault in walking directions from Google- which were terrible - so getting there was a pockle for someone who doesn't know the area. The food was hot, quick and as expected. What I love about a 'spoons - you know what you're getting!

A lively atmosphere and brilliant music choice from the deejay. The service is above board and no rating for the food as we did not order.

Wetherspoons can be hit and miss and this was a miss. As the music was loud inside, we decided to sit outside but my friend was told he wasn't able to take out the drink he'd already ordered, as it was in a glass bottle. No problem, we thought, we'll get a plastic glass, only to be told there weren't any. Then when we ordered on the app, while sat outside, the drinks came in glass containers. Bizarre.

A quiet but spacious wetherspoons can't fault the staff and facilities, a good place for a hot drink and a bite to eat - saves cooking it yourself. Expensive if you do it all the tim though
