Fantastic food love this place fast delivery

The korma was bland, the rice was watery, the keema naan had the smallest amount of keema in the middle, the sauce dips were not even half full, only got a 2 star because the chips were decent, considering I collected it in 15 minutes it was lukewarm ,if you have no tastebuds you could get away with going here if you do have tastebuds I would recommend going elsewhere!

Order was quick but wrong . Wrong flavour nan bread and the poppadom were disgusting tasted like the cooking oil hadn’t been changed . The NaN they did send was like dough uncooked .🤮

We ordered for the first time - we don't like things too chilli hot. The Tandoori chicken was delicious and hot. The chips are crispy, hot, and freshly cooked. A good portion size too. The Hallim Massala was a pleasant surprise, so tasty, more spicy with flavour than chilli hot, and the meat used was chicken Tikka. Overall, well packaged, great portion sizes and delivery was on time. Will order again.

ordered my food got the food home to find that was over charged by five pounds the food was completely wrong the korma was spicy when it shud not be was given the wrong nan breads been going there for years and from now on I will not be going back any time soon

Ordered food told 1.5 hours after complaining at 2.5 and again at 4 hours of waiting they turned the phones off used them for years but never again shocking service

Food was 35 minutes late and cold. Jalfrezi had spicy heat but no real flavour. Chicken was tough, maybe because I had to microwave it. Bombay potatoes were boiled new potatoes in a sauce. Overall poor delivery and bland food.

Spice island - I order 2 wrap meal deals 1 chicken tikka masala, pilau rice and a extra plain naan I was told it would take 1 hour and 30 minutes this was fine, we waited over 2 hours and when it arrived the food was cold and we had no sauce with our wraps and there was a missing naan bread for the kids also no cans of pop. We phoned up, the man on the phone said there’s no point sending your missing items we can have half price next time but obviously after this experience we won’t be returning. After reading so many great reviews we were looking forward to trying it but tbh it was a let down the food was bland and tasteless possibly the worst Indian food I’ve ever experienced and the service was just as bad. I just wish I stuck with my usual Indian takeaway little India which never fails. It cost me £35 for 2 wraps 1 chicken tikka masala 2 bags of chips 1 pilau rice and popadoms. When I’ve went on the menu and added up the price of the food excluding the wraps it came upto £16.40 meaning I’ve paid almost £10 each for the wraps alone. Sorry guys but this completely ruined my night and I will never be returning big thumbs down from me.

We always get our curry from spice island as we live 5 minutes away. Today’s we ordered from there and it was £31 but I think we have chucked £20 in the bin. The chicken was all gristle and my daughter heaved on a lump of something that tasted like soap. I think from now on I will look elsewhere for a curry as that was a complete waste of money which is disappointing as normally the food is good.

First class service and food 9 meals ordered and everyone enjoyed there’s all hot and tasty can’t fault it.

Just gave the driver £20 pound for a tikka WRAP THAT ONLY COSTS £9.95. Which can I add no rice either 🤔 Driver didn't give me any CHANGE MANAGER SHOUTED AT ME ON THE PHONE. and restaurant refusing to Refund me. I wouldn't of gave him only £10 because I only had a £20 pound note on me. Driver is clearly ripping people off. Me nor my family will ever return you've lost some good customers Ali. Consistently reliable and quality food from lovely people

Waited 3 hours for our delivery which said it would take an hour. Rung up after an hour and they said the food was on its way. Rung up after another hour and they said the food was still sat there. Said it would definitely be with us in the next 10 minutes, 30 minutes later and still no sign. So after 3 hours and 30 minutes we rung up and cancelled and asked for a refund. Possibly the work customer service I have ever experienced. We told them atleast 6 times what our address was and they were still clueless.

Very disappointing! Ordered a biryani and a tandoori mixed kebab, there was a couple spoons worth of sauce to go with a mountain of cold rice and a total of 4 small chunks of chicken. The mixed kebab was a small box of oily tasteless rubber and nothing like the one I got last year. What a disaster. No taste, bland food and for £24 an absolute robbery. The place has evidently gone downhill and should he avoided at all costs. If you like filthy food fit for a homeless man, thrown together by robbing vermin, this is the place for you!

Just had the thali muchi box all for 12.95 amazing flavours and there was a lot of it aswell, definitely be back

Ordered 2 meals for take away. Tikka was delicious but butter chicken horrible. All food was cold except the rice. Nan breads felt as if they had come out of the fridge. Won’t be ordering from here again

Some months ago, we ordered a number of meals and took it out of town to eat at a friends house, what we got was one meal short and the rest of order bore no resemblance to what we had asked for, obviously some other customers order, staff appeared indifferent to my complaint, however whoever got our order can only have been chuffed to bits getting more than they paid for

Brilliant madras extras popadom, salad included in the price. Rice onion, lemon and pilau good onion bhajis great.

Been coming to Spice Island for over20 years but never again. Order never right, but we often let it go. Tonight they offered to deliver missing item. We gave them address and postcode etc. When they failed to turn up, we contacted them to discover they were at a different villlage 25 mins away. Ruined our family’s meal. Couldn’t make it up! Rubbish. Lost loyal customers tonight

Ordered a meal at 17:10 and promised delivery at 18:40. Decided we would wait an hour and a half for our meal. Then at 18:37 they phone to say they can't deliver until after 21:00. Why didn't you tell me this at 17:10. I've been a regular customer here for years...... NOT ANY MORE.

Food is OK when you get the food you ask for. This doesn't always happen as things get missed, which you only realise when you are at home unpacking. Organisation is shoddy, which is a shame, as the food deserves better.

We get a takeaway from Spice Island on a regular basis. I like mine quite spicy while my wife prefers a mild curry.I chose a chicken Jalfrezi and my wife her chicken Korma we chose garlic rice and a pilau rice with 2 naan breads the price was just short of £25 which I think is a little expensive for a takeaway. I rang in the order was told it would be 40 minutes and it arrived in 30. In with our order was complimentary Bombay potatoes, salad and popadoms.Both our meals were hot and tasty and with the extras were more than enough, in fact we probably could have made 1 meal stretch to the 2 of us. 1st rate as usual!

The good was cold, had a mixed grill and couldn't eat the lamb it was all crunchy and fatty.. the king prawn was soft and slimy.. the shish kebab I ordered with it was also cold and very oily.. chips were the best part and even they were cold.. the overall best part of this meal was the delivery man andhow quick I got the terrible food.. i phoned to tell them about the problems and got "if you not ordering, get off the phone" won't be using them again that's very safe to say.

had a takeaway my husband had a meat Vindaloo which blow his socks off glad he ordered Riata lol, rice cooked just right i had king prawn madras keema nan ordered for delivery and came in no time at all with salad popadoms and sauce great little takeaway would deffinately buy from again

Tried several different Indians from our local area, but we d would prefer to travel through and get a proper Indian meal and have done for the last 10 years, never a bad meal, at excellent prices, and even better customer service we love love love spice island.

Probado este lugar para un cambio de mi regular, siempre peligroso, quédate con lo que sabe y confianza.La comida no estaba mal, un montón de gente de este lugar, pero cayó en sabor y calidad y sobre todo precio comparado a mis otros para llevar elección.Dos porciones de carne samosa, muy pequeño, una especie de salsa de naranja y bastante aburrido pollo Rogan Josh, £18! Pago 14 libras en mi otra opción a menos de una milla de distancia en Cockerton y para mí es mucho más sabroso. Tal vez para el curry connisuer los platos más macho de Excel, pero como curry ligero este no hizo nada para mi paladar. Cada uno a su propia, me quedaré con con lo que yo sé, pero chicos, sus precios son altos en comparación a otros y he recogido!

Ordered a prawn dish and they delivered a lamb dish though on the lid it said prawn! Overcharged too, not for the first time - won't be ordering again and suggest you consider too! Rude and ignorant staff as well!

This restaurant is AMAZING, great portions, great food and great customer service. The food is always delicious and never fails to satisfy (apart from once). The only time it has failed to please was on Christmas Eve when they were extremely busy, it was a little bit washed down with water. But do not let that change your opinion, most DEFINITILEY order from here. Just be wary on ordering near Christmas! We order every so often as a luscious treat!

Interesting reception area to the normal waiting areas in take always. Quality proven menu, great variety and reasonably priced.Welcoming staff always cheerful and a free box of After Eights to boot.A great favourite.

Si visita Darlington y te gusta la comida india, esta joya escondida vale la pena tratar de encontrar. Tuvimos que mirar un poco, pero tan contenta de haberlo hecho. El menú ofrece platos indios nosotros nunca habíamos escuchado antes, así que probé. Excepcional! No podría recomendar Spice Island más! Magnífica comida, servicio atento e informativo.

Always impressive food from here. Delivery can take a while but the food is excellent and good value

This used to be our favourite several years ago but we stopped using it because another, nearer one was more convenient. Recently started using this again and have remembered now why it was our favourite. Top notch food, good price and excellent portion sizes. Absolutely love the Biryani from here.
