The Spa Lane Vaults - JD Wetherspoon in Chesterfield

I had to interrupt the bar staffs social life to order. The girl in particular was uninterested in customer service or paying attention to anything other than her colleagues. Mentioned this to the manager who just shrugged. It is what it is...a spoons. Thank god it was only a Tuesday night. She couldn't have managed a busy weekend.

App taken payment twice for food but not ordered it had to go to bar and order so . 3 payments for burger and pint. Amazing ordering at bar was £2 cheaper

I hear this Wetherspoons is on a list for closure. That would be a real shame. Good food, beer and a nice atmosphere at the usual good prices. My go to when visiting Chesterfield.

Always a good starting pub, always busy and has a good atmosphere but doesn't have music playing, food is nice for pub food. Can order to the table using the app and always comes out fast and hot. Friendly staff.

Good food at a fair price with a more than adequate well kept cellar. Just what you would expect from a well run 'Spoons' 🙂

As usual for wetherspoons toilets upstairs, ladies could be better.slow service at bar,no hello or thankyou. Food just about OK.

Popped in for breakfast for the grandsons birthday and it was lovely. Only 1 criticism and that's the chef needs to learn to cook fried eggs!!! 2 eggs with my order, 1 was cooked broken and the other was rock hard. All in all though a nice experience.

First visit ,table hadn't been cleaned and when I used the app to order it wouldn't let me add a drink ? Brought it to the attention of a member of staff who just said must be a glitch and I had to pay full price for the included drinks!?on the plus side the ladies toilets were very nice as per usual in Weatherspoons

A welcoming pub with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The food is decent, but what really stands out is the excellent range of drinks available. Service is quick and efficient, making it a fantastic spot for a relaxed evening.

Busy but got a table, easily ordered food with the app, drinks came quickly and the food was reasonably priced, nice and tasty

Don't normally go in spoons but decided on a whim for a quick drink. Decent pint 👍

Food was decent, dessert was a bit dry. Delivery/serving was quite fast and I liked ordering through the app. The biggest drawback was the strawberry daiquiri, it was basically pure rum with some food coloring. Not able to finish that one unfortunately.

An OK experience. Sometimes, some staff need to collect empty glasses, on a return journey from delivering food or drinks. Sometimes even to the same table. UPDATE; Nothing changes for a disabled person who needs access to smelly toilet. I have to walk with my stick, luckily I can; as wheelchair access ic blocked by tables. Surely, not acceptable

Food hot good for price. Service always good when we visit (as Southerners) near town centre.

Haven't eaten food here, so can't comment on that....but, called in for a drink, it was nice, great atmosphere & helpful staff. It was in the daytime, it was even nice for me just going in alone to have a latte & just sit & chill out scrolling on my phone. I didn't feel awkward going in on my own, or sitting on my own there. And I like that any hot drink like lattes, you get a cup to take to the coffee machine & u pay once & can keep refilling it...well worth it! I personally only wanted 1 this time, but it's definitely a nice extra. And I like that they have their own little car parking space at the back...IF there's a space, which, in the daytime on a week day, there always usually is, which are the only times I've ever been. Last time, I went there with my Mum, while my cars air-con was being refilled across at Kwik Fit...she's disabled, with a walking frame/rollator & there is a disabled access door, with no steps...cos the other entrances have steps, but not until you're already inside, so u have to look for the 1 without steps after u get inside! We made that mistake the 1st time.

One of the better Wetherspoons, quick and efficient service

I clearly said that I am a vegetarian.., and I talked about wanting something with only vegetables like tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers. They brought me sausages with eggs, (vegan sausages). Really disgusting! "If I am a vegetarian, why on earth.. should I eat something that looks like meat?" I asked for explanations.. they didn't want to listen to reason. The boss is a real idiot, who doesn't understand the needs of the customer, not to mention the waitress who was laughing. How squalid!!!! Go to other places.

Breakfast was excellent this morning; we had a Traditional Breakfast, a Vegetarian Breakfast and a small American Breakfast. The service was quick and the food and coffee was all great. This Wetherspoons is close to Chesterfield Town centre and is only a few minutes walk from the railway station. Certainly recommended for breakfast.

It's a Weatherspoons. It does exactly what it says on the tin. BUT, on paying for my drink,in cash; I know,I'm a phillistine, the server dropped the change in my hand,in essence making me,almost catch it! Am I the only one who thinks people working in the service industry should have people skills? Up to and including how to hand change to a customer. Little things.

Great place good selection of food good prices

As a shareholder I have to say today I was very disappointed, good drinks as usual but the quality of the steaks were really awful. Not worthy of a recommendation at all.

Cheap and cheerful is how I would describe this place. Staff are pleasant.

Good food served quickly, and with helpful and upbeat staff, bar service quick,and orders to the table took no time to arrive.

A town centre staple! Always has been and always will be a popular pub because drinks are so reasonably priced. Seems to be plenty of food choices and certain days have certain special offers, curry night, steak night, burger night etc which makes it even better value. Could do with a bit of tlc and a new carpet and paint but think that will be on the cards soon now it's been removed from a wetherspoon that due for closure to one that is remaining open.

We go to Witherspoon's because it's good value for money, but also they have meals my vegetarian and gluten intolerant other half can eat. Spoon's gets looked down on by more 'upmarket' chains, but very few of them can match the number of meals for veggie coeliacs!

Only called in for breakfast in the mid point of a journey. Food came quicker than our coffee cups. And it wasn’t particularly busy at 10am Sunday morning. Food was standard as you’d expect at spoons. Unrelated pay and display car park round the back. £2.10 per hour. No change given. Cash only. (Not a spoons car park - but useful to know)

Very unhappy. I have problems with my hearing & im very self conscious about this, I came here with my friend as she’s been having a very hard time at the moment, I stupidly forgot my ID and my friend ordered some cocktails. I was then told I wasn’t allowed consume it but with my hearing I just agreed. Another gentlemen came over and proceeded to take the drinks & told me we were not getting a refund. I had not paid for these drinks.

Typical Wetherspoons type of pub with nice atmosphere and friendly service.

It's ok,but not the best spoons I've been in,quite basic not much atmosphere ,food has gone down hill a bit .

Visited today with friends from work. At 16:31 I ordered a simple Tennessee chicken burger via the Wetherspoons app, after clicking for payment the order didn’t process. I tried a second time and success the order and payment went through! However, I quickly noticed the app had added a second duplicate meal onto the transaction? Confused, I went straight over to a member of staff, who happened to be the manager on duty, stood by the kitchen door a few feet away. He said let me check in the kitchen and at 16:32 he said it was all being prepared and nothing could be reversed or changed. I can only think everything is made fresh seconds from ordering? I explained, I did not order the meal, their app added it onto the transaction. He completely refused to help/give me a refund and ridiculously I ended up with two meals. Overall, it’s not really the £9 odd they robbed from me but the principle of it. I can only think they must be very desperate to sell a below average cheap burger? I look forward to continuing this matter further with DEFRA and the Ombudsmen.

Although busy and loud with chatter it was still v enjoyable the service was fast and professional with the food being perfectly cooked per my order plenty of choice with the menu too all together a very enjoyable visit

So yh basso food was pukka, ngl steak was sick pal, then the drinks situation de-railed the whole experience coz i asked for a water took about 7 buisseness day to turn up ngl kinda felt suicidal, then some gezza gave out food to an old couple and was lovely but was to nice to the old dons and probs shouldnt have been so fire that nonce, and sort out ya bar, ya dunnoo BOI's

Very good. Came in after work. lovely hot curry and coke for £7.91, bargain. Nice staff. Curry was really nice. staff friendly and helpful at tables clean.

We always meet up in the spa Lane vaults Chesterfield, this Thursday was a 1940s day in Chesterfield, my 6-year-old grandaughter loved it

Glad that they decided to keep this place open,good crowd of regulars and passing trade,reasonably good food at great prices.

Good selection of drinks at reasonable prices for a town centre. Food is OK as you'd expect for a Spoons, you didn't mind cheap microwave meals when they were cheap but don't seem be good value anymore for the quality. Outside area is tiny and only really for smokers but plenty of tables inside.

One of the best pubs in Chesterfield. The staff are brilliant. It's a great starting point for the rest of your night and the food is banging!

We thought that the meal was only Luke warm and the gourmet steak was a bit fatty

Ye I took my 17 year old friend for food, I'm classed as an adult at 20, and got a pitcher for myself. Let her have some and she got told off. I took responsibility for it as I let her, but pretty sure there is a rule in the UK that says a 16 or 17 year old can have alcohol with food in a restaurant accompanied by an adult. Ye doesn't make sense, but whatever. Maybe that rule doesn't apply here or something. I had my ID as well. Nice food, poor service. Seem very grumpy.

I went out tonight with friends and had a pizza. 8" pizza plus an alcoholic for £7. Bargain ! A nice pizza, tasty and well cooked. Thank you to the staff.,

Lively town centre weather spoons cheap and quality food

You can't really fault Spoons, although they are very much a take it or leave kind of venue. Spa lane is no different from anywhere else. Well maintained, clean, a few resident alcoholics (recovering alcoholic myself absolutely no judgement ever), and loads of oldies nattering about bibles and the price of butter. Small outside area always busy on match days. Car park to rear however you are charged. Staff are pleasent enough but few look like they go the extra mile. As I say no problems here you get exactly what you pay for and it's done well and in a timely manner.

Fast service at a decent price, just wish it was dog friendly. Decent vegan choice.

Hi, i didn't have any food. So obviously i can't comment on that. But as you can see by my rating, everything else was very good.

A very good JD Wetherspoon pub that is a good size with plenty of seating. A good meeting place for initial drinks or a bite to eat. Will definitely be back!
