This chippy is the best for miles

Just had cod and rock from here with large chips, absolutely stunning. Cooked to order and can't fault it. Huge portions too. Bravo guys

Went there today about 12 15 and I think the chip had been reheated from the night before very very bad

I came across this chip shop as my husband was fishing nearby and so I thought I'd grab us some dinner. Well, it was by far the best fish & chips we've ever had! My husband had the large cod and it was huge. I had sausage in batter and both were cooked perfectly and the chips were out of this world! The staff were also really chatty and friendly and knew all their regulars by first name. I live about an hour's round trip drive away, but even so, this is going to be our new chippy from now on. I'll happily drive down here just for their fish & chips - absolutely outstanding

The family that run this shop are so nice and kind - i came in today and i was 50p short and the lovely lady serving me voided it and let me go without any fuss, its kindness like this that makes the world go around :)) i recommend this place very heavily for anyone looking for the best curry sauce around, amazing tasting fish and chips at an affordable price.

Really pleasant people - very friendly, couldn't ask for better customer service. The food is excellent. This is my designated place to get my fish and chips. Be warned, once you try them you will become a repeat customer like myself.

I have not been to Sole Plaice for a few years but have had excellent fish and also great home made curry on previous visits. I was therefore extremely disappointed when I popped in to grab a curry. I found the curry to be really oily and literally completely tasteless. I couldn't detect a single spice and the chicken was totally bland as well as the peckoras. I threw most of it away which I very rarely do. It also seems that now they only do fish and chips with advanced orders as well. This may mean the fish is better quality but it isn't very convenient. Such a shame as this used to be my favourite fish bar in the area.

Freshly cooked fish to order tasted wonderful. The traditional thick batter was perfectly crispy, as were the chips. The proprietor was friendly and made us feel really welcome. He even offered a cuppa while we waited for the fish to fry. Such genuine warmth and friendliness is rare. We will definitely visit again next time we visit Kent.

I live around the area, the place is a go-to for cheap yet great tasting food. A lot of people go there after or before work, such as construction workers (who are very common in the area). I recommend this to anyone nearby, it's certainly a treat.

Had cod and chips. All fish cooked fresh to order. Which was nice batter not to thick. They do a selection of different chickens dishes that looked very tempting maybe next time.

The owner, Dave, is really friendly. He and his staff make some wonderful food. I highly recommend the sausage with chips, curry sauce and a Dr Pepper. If you don't want that then get the tandoori chicken and rice.

New to the area and craved a proper fish and chips for lunch. I found The Sole Plaice via Google Maps and it had a great rating, so I took the plunge. I spoke to Dave who’s really friendly and welcoming, as well as explained that all the food is cooked fresh to order. The fish was fantastic, really flakey and the batter was nice and light. The chips were proper fish and chip shop chip’s which I was craving! Also spoke to a regular who explained that I can get busy in the evening but you can phone ahead ready for collection. I also tried a piece of fried chicken what was great, it had a nice spice to it and wasn’t greasy like some fried chicken can be. This is a gem and definitely worth a visit!

Dave runs a fantastic chip shop 🙌🏾. Usually here for Chip shop Chewsdays (Tuesday) 😄😁 with my youngest daughter. Great shop that also happens to do some fantastic chicken pakora, fried chicken and some curry's. Oh and you can grab deep-fried mars bar or similar 😋

Oh my word how we have missed these fish n chips also the staff in our opinion these are the best fish n chips and today we bought samosa my word we have not been able to get to sole place for 6 years as my husband can’t drive any more but now we have dial a ride to take us at last we are back and it will be regular as long as we can make it it’s so nice now very friendly staff and you have to go a long way to beat this fish chip and curry shop we love it and rate it a million not ten love love it

We've been customers since it first opened & Dave has always greeted our family with such warm - honestly, the friendliest guy you could ever meet! The food is always delicious & still hot when you serve it at home. I love chips with curry sauce & the Homemade Pakoras are Hubs favourite, even just as a snack. If you're having a family gathering I recommend ordering here - just let Dave know in advance then call on the night.

Love this chip shop. The staff are lovely, nothing is too much trouble for them. One thing I really like is everything is cooked fresh when you order, nothing is sitting around under the hot plate for ages and this really shows in the taste. Mums homemade chicken curry is lovely but not quite spicy enough for me so I just sprinkle a chopped chilli over it when I get home. When the shop is busy you may have a bit of a wait but this is more than worth it for the fresh cooked food but if waiting isn't your thing you can phone your order through and they'll tell you how long til you can collect it.
