The Smithy A77 in South Ayrshire

We stopped for coffee and scones. Beautiful bright cafe, spotlessly clean. Toilet too were spotless. Very pleasant girls serving. Scones very fresh and tasty.

The time is 0900hrs. We have been coming here for a while ,whilst it was in previous ownership .New ownership not as good. Food was okay ,drinks okay but slightly over priced.Breakfast menu expensive. Went to the gents to use the toilet and was disgusted to say the least .The paper towel pedal bin had not been emptied from previous day ,towels left on the sink .This says that the toilet area are not been checked . My wife went to use the disabled toilet ,came straight back out to report that there was dried poo all over the place .Not been cleaned since previous day yet again . Think it might have been the owner ,gentleman ,went in to see ,still had his kitchen apron on . Pretty disgusting to say the least . Just as an over view ,the food cold cabinets weren’t even stocked with fresh cakes as it used to be . Gone down market . Will not be back.

Stopped for a spot of lunch before heading to a local park. Ordered 2 apple pies, 2 coffees and an ice cream. Apple pie frozen in the middle! Sent back, no apology, nothing. Coffee was nice though. Glad I never opted for a meal!

We had 2 coffees and 2 empire biscuits and were charged over £14 !! We will not be back. I would not recommend this to anyone.

We visited here twice in 2 days. First visit for lunch which was great - BLT and Mac & Cheese baked potato. There was a vast array of delicious cakes but we had no room after lunch so decided to return on our way home the following day. Great choice of drinks to match the delicious cakes.

Just awful. Been coming here for years. Thought we’d give it a second chance. Wish we hadn’t bothered. I had a baked potato. It was hard in the middle. My Husband soup was just more than cold. Bread with it wasn’t fresh. Neither was the scone my old Mother had. Toilet was 🤮awful. Definitely won’t be back

Phoned up to see if they could accommodate us for an afternoon tea; no problem at all. By far the best afternoon tea we've had anywhere! 5* all the way. Quality ingredients and excellent service. The staff were friendly and attentive. Chicken and rice soup to start, then this amazing array of food. Far too much for us to eat so we boxed it up and took it home. This cost £36. Highly recommend The Smithy at Sandyford.

This place changed hands some like it some don't. There were 4 of us. Each had different lunches. We all enjoyed our lunches. I started with San Pellegrino, lovely bread with tuna mayo accompanied by Side broccoli soup which was excellent. Finished with tea and cake.

We occasionally call here to break our journey North and its always been a good stop. But something was very different this time. It felt different and the cake selection was nowhere near as positively overwhelming as we were used to. The place has changed ownership and there is now a very different approach. That home baked unique sumptuous feel has gone and been swapped with average. Please bring back that previous edge that made you a real destination.

After a frantic day gathering items from B&Q and transport them to Ayr my girlfriend and I decided to stop in at this charming little coffee shop and enjoyed it very much . The cafe itself was very quirky and had a lovely decor . The staff were friendly and polite . The food was really nice indeed . My girlfriend ordered the five bean chilli while I ordered the the mozzarella and chorizo panini . This was washed down with a nice cup of earl grey and a sticky toffee white hot chocolate which was delightful . If you are heading off to Ayrshire then do stop in for a bite or drink as you will be pleasently surprised .

We visited on Fri 30th August ,our 3rd and last visit . First visit was few weeks ago , and wasn’t great , food mediocre but service very poor. Tables far too cram jammed in . Untrained staff seemed to be in a complete muddle culminating in the waitress who finally brought our food , missing the table ( she was speaking to someone at another table ) luckily my husband caught the plate !! Second visit was good , it was very quiet , food was good , 3rd visit ... well we might still be sitting in there several days later. I The strange little oblong table, rocked back and forth like a see saw , we were given menus , but no body came near us again even to take a drinks order . Over crowded with tables, under staffed and untrained ... sorry!

Have to say not as happy as last visit... plenty of staff on duty but to be honest there were too many and no defined roles... waited ten minutes to pay. Food and cake was ok but fifteen pounds for cake and coffee for two is, to me, expensive.Will be trying elsewhere for coffee next time.

Was a warm day on Saturday and we needed food. Cafe was quieter than usual as later in the day. I’d forgotten my glassesSo friend had to read the menu! We opted for Avacado spicy on toast.. Neither of us had tasted that before. It was delicious absolutely recommend. Hummus with a layer of avacado spicy in top with a small salad and coleslaw... heaven.

Was busy we were sat at a long wooden table that wobbled about and not comfortable at all . Service was slow had to ask for milk 3 times for my tea . It was young girls serving all had long hair not tied back . Soup was nice but we will not rush back .
