Under new ownership. They are doing really well - Sky sports, open fire in the lounge, delicious Sunday lunches and live band nights in the lounge and function suite. Drinks prices are very good and they have friendly staff. Nice to see the place getting back on its feet again.

Tasty Sunday lunch today on their opening Sunday. So pleased to see this great pub open again and serving a Sunday roast. Choice of three meats beef, turkey or pork. We ordered one pork and one beef. It was served hot to the table with all the trimmings and a large portion of veg. The gravy was delicious, and I especially enjoyed the roast parsnip. Service was friendly and prompt despite this being their opening Sunday and it being busy. We didn't eat all of the veg we were given but did manage to find room to squeeze in a naughty pudding each. Looking forward to going again. Recommend this place for food and drinks.

We ordered and paid for an indian takeaway via Just Eat from here on january 13th. They took £20 out of our account but cancelled the ordet 2 hours later saying they were too busy and had no drivers. We still havent received our refund 😡😡 3 weeks later. So please dont bother ordering from here - there are nicer proper Indian takeaways that do deliver and dont rip people off!

As well as serving Sunday roasts, this place is now a curry house. We enjoyed onion bhaji and chicken tikka starters followed by chicken jalfrezi and a garlic chicken with nan. Ample portions and we had to take some away in a doggy bag.

I normally go to the Castle for Sunday lunch but had heard so much about the Smiths I thought it was worth a try. I was so disappointed, the Yorkshire pud was ready made and the roast potatoes were the frozen ones which taste like plastic. The veg was mushy and tasteless and the gravy was too salty for my taste. In it's favour there was a large selection of veg and the meat was lovely. Given that the price for two courses is £11 compared to £9.50 at the Castle I know where I'll be going in future.

14 of us booked Sunday lunch at the Smiths. They have a lovely banqueting room, also suitable for weddings. Carvery was great, as was the nut roast for our vegetarians. Great value, excellent service. There was no sense of urgency for us to leave.

Visited last Sunday and lucky to get in being Fathers Day. Even though full they were so organised and everyone there appeared to be happy with the delicious food. We are quite fussy about our Sunday Lunch ,especially the gravy, but honestly could not fault it . You can help yourself to veg which is nice and the meat was very tasty and cooked perfectly . Also the staff very friendly and helpful. Thank you, we look forward to our next visit.

I cannot rate the Smiths Arms Sunday carvery highly enough. The food was superb, fresh vegetables, meat that fell apart and piping hot. The waiting staff were exemplary, friendly, welcoming and extremely attentive. The dining room was tastefully decorated and very clean, as were the toilets. A faultless dining experience that I will definitely be experiencing again - very soon. Well done all at The Smiths Arms.

Eight of us went for Sunday Lunch here a couple of weeks ago and we were really impressed with what we got. We have been looking for a decent carvery for ages and this place fits the bill. The service was excellent and the staff went out of their way to help my disabled mother and gran, carrying plates for them and making sure they were okay which was lovely. The carvery itself was beautiful and portion wise excellent value for money as you can get as much veg as you want but you also get a decent serving of meat, which you don't always get at a carvery. It's also nice to go to a place where you don't feel as if you are sat on top of each other. There's plenty of space and you don't get ushered out of the door quickly so if you prefer a more leisurely lunch then it is great BUT if you just want to go somewhere where you can be in and out within an hour or less then this is a good place to go too. Really enjoyed and can't wait to go back again!

Out for a Sunday stroll with the doggies on a drizzly Sunday afternoon. Dogs are allowed in the bar here. We had a warm welcome. The pub is spotlessly clean and the locals friendly. Hope to try the Sunday lunch another time.

The carvery was fab for Christmas party, good atmosphere and close position away from town trouble at this festive season. Friendly staff nothing was too much to ask for.

Very nice pub, the staff were excellent and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. So five stars there. The food was average pub grub and lacked the extra attention needed for an evening meal, at £17 for a pie and chips I was not impressed, so, three stars there, drinks expensive, I can understand why it is a brewery-owned pub, the people running it are great though.

First impressions were that it was very quiet for a Friday evening. Not 1 person in Bar and just 3 tables in the restaurant (9 people). Menu was completely different online and we were advised it was new management. Seemed a very Basic menu. Ordered 2 Gammon, 1 Regular Burger & 1 Lamb Burger. Onion rings. Cheese garlic bread. Asked the waitresses if there was any sauce on the Lamb Burger her reply was 'No'. Advised that I could have 'No sauce whatsoever' . Her reply 'I will make sure' Food came and all looked nice. Gammon very undercooked. Went to cut Lamb burger in half to pick up and sauce absolutely oozed out. Not slightly but lots. Showed the waitress who said she was very sorry and would deal with it. Meal was back within minutes. Same burger as previously as the original cut was still there. THE CHEF HAD WIPED THE SAUCE OFF THE BURGER and put it in a fresh roll. Had to send it back as I'm not able to eat red sauce/relish ect. All food was left as the others were not even asked if there food was ok and it upset the whole table. Asked to speak to the manager and was advised he was busy. When we asked for the bill and advised we wouldn't be paying for the burger he appeared. Unfortunately he couldn't' see what was wrong with the situation. Didn't understand that wiping the sauce off was an issue and could have made me very Ill. Total bill £69.

Good place for coffee. Can be noisy when busy due to the lower ceilings in part of the space. Cake marked as gluten free does have 'may contain' so not suitable for those diagnosed coeliac.
