Dyffryn Arms in Neath Port Talbot

Hello, I came here tonight with my mother and father, as it's usually out of this world. However, tonight we asked for steak, medium rare, but came out medium and cold. Sides were also cold, besides garlic potatoes. We weren't asked how the food was until the end, when we explained it was cold. Nothing was done about it being cold. We discussed as a family not to tip, but when it came to pay my father (who has dementia) offered a £10 tip to the owner. I said no, we agreed not to tip as it was cold infront of the owner, but she continued to take the tip from my father anyway and ignored my comment, no appologies about it being cold. We will not be returning again, which is a shame, as it used to be so lovely.

Booked for Saturday night, warm friendly welcome. The Dyffryn's usual varied menu with some excellent Chef's specials. Starters were excellent, but the main meals were outstanding. Sea Bass, Rump of Lamb and Pork steaks. Beautifully presented, very tasty. Deserts just as good. Thank you, thoroughly enjoyed First class service also

Warm and inviting on a wet Thursday evening! The pub was quite busy with seating in the bar area. We ordered from the menu and enjoyed the vibe …. Food came out quickly, good size portions and presented well.

Four of us ordered the Sunday Lunch -2 course for £20. Absolutely loved the Yorkshire and Beef but the veg wasn’t enough for four so asked for more. The first lot of veg wasn’t as warm as the second lot. Other than that, absolutely delicious. Enjoyed the heat from the log fire which was regularly checked. Inside was very clean,comfortable and warm! Our desert was absolutely lovely! Food was waiter serviced. Booking is recommended for Sunday lunch. Large car-park on arrival. Bar staff was very helpful and polite. If the veg was hotter and more plenty full I would have given a 5star!

Fantastic pub. Very good food and service and lovely and cosy inside with a good fire going. Dog friendly too which is a bonus. Will become a regular .

We went here last night for a 50th birthday party, there were 30 of us so the meals had to be pre ordered. I cannot fault the efficient service and excellent food. They got everything right, cleared quickly, and every single person there thoroughly enjoyed their meal and there was not one complaint about anything. Says it all really - well don’t to the Duffryn team that did an awesome job and thank you for a great night

Always come here with my mum and little dog Billy, I love their menu all served hot and fresh my favourites have to be the halloumi fries, brie wedges and the Thai chicken please never get rid of these! Great choice of desserts too ❤️ atmosphere is great with the open wood fire and pictures on the walls, cute quotes everywhere and always fab service! Will continue to come here regularly, thank you 😋

I was invited to a birthday party. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed their food. Staff efficient and pleasant.

Ordered 3 course Christmas menu. Every course was excellent. Dinner was hot and tasty. Only negative we were in front of the Christmas tree with a small round table so not much room for dishes. Had no problem other times. Highly recommend .

Came here for my birthday meal, lovely food as always .. didn't take a picture of the cheesey garlic bread but yummy would definitely recommended as well as everything else. The soup needed a touch more salt but it's just preference. Good quick service. Lovely atmosphere.

Just awesome! Could not fault it. Six of us had dinner (steak and ale pie, steak x2, lasagne, chicken, leek and bacon pie, and a beef special). A very busy place (understandable) but this did not impact on the excellent service throughout. Food was so good. We were expecting pub food, but had more of a gastro pub experience at a very decent price. In sum, great value with outstanding food served and made by fantastic staff. Cannot recommend this place enough.

There were 15 of us which included 5 children of different ages. We were in a private area which was great as there was plenty of space to accommodate everyone as well as a dog. The service was efficient and superb. We pre ordered the dishes. We all got what we ordered. The children enjoyed their meals and managed to eat it all. The food was hot and well presented. It was impressive how the staff coped with the demands and expectations. Overall I highly recommend the place if you’re looking for a venue to accommodate a big group and still deliver a friendly service. Thank you for your great job.

Expensive for what it is..... 2 of us had burgers with bacon on.. the bacon was that fatty it was inedible.

Four of us went for a meal and opted for the Christmas Menu. Absolutely stunning and based on the quality the cost was extremely reasonable. We all went for the 3 courses at £30 per head. Food quality, quantity and presentation was superb, as was the Service. Although very busy the staff coped easily and the atmosphere was totally conducive to a lovely evening.

I was unable to attend my booked Christmas dinner on 7.12.24 because of travelling restrictions with storm Darragh. The Dyffryn has been awesome in this respect, giving back deposits, in the form of vouchers. Thank you for being so kind and understanding. Fantastic service!! I hope to see you very soon!!

Unfortunately, whilst this is a nice spot, there were a few aspects to our latest visit that let the place down. Firstly, the member of staff who served us at first before leaving was quite rude and decided to eat her lunch on a table within our view. It was also freezing. We were sat next to a radiator but it was turned off unfortunately. Also, one thing that has bugged me about this place on every visit is that there is no WI-FI. On a positive note, the Cajun chicken burger has greatly improved and was so fresh. This was more than could be said for my starter, however. An otherwise nice spot to visit during the Christmas period that I would like to return to.

Really enjoyed our visit. The steak and ale pie was excellent, with quality meat in it unlike in some other pub restaurants. Lovely, warm atmosphere made it a great lunchtime choice.

Average meal. Very plain and boring gammon with chips peas and eggs. Gammon overcooked and hard. Fish had very thick, heavy batter. Chips okay but bit shrivelled. Staff pleasant enough Overpriced for quality provided

The service was really good. Our serving staff were polite and attentive.

We have been a few times here and enjoyed it but this time I decided to take my husband for a birthday meal they said we only had 2 hours for the table and if we didn't order in ten minutes it would be to late to order as they had some one else coming at 7pm and we had booked table for 5pm asking when I booked to order at 5.30pm but when got there said we had to order by 5.10pm and they weren't very helpful at all so we decide d to leave and not have food at all

I absolutely love this place, I've never had a bad meal here ever, in all the years I've been eating here. Staff are lush as always, food was amazing as always. The atmosphere is like being at home with your family eating.

As a member of a family evening out having a meal togetherI experienced good food and service there was a lot of cross chat and laughter on occasion. However I was seated in a continuous cross draught caused by two wide open windows leaving me chilled throughout my time there.In all other respects it was a lovely evening where our whole group enjoyed the event and the atmosphere. We will certainly return and hope to enjoy a similar evening (without the draught). For prospective new customers I can readily recommend this diner pub for good food and relaxed atmosphere..

Lovely meal, Son had Gammon and brie starter, , his fiancée had Steak pasta brie starter. I had halloumi fries, salmon and vegetables, chocolate brownie for dessert and Son had sticky toffee pudding all lovely. Really nice place

Great food great atmosphere, the waitress was amazing such a lovely attitude and friendly. Will definitely go again. Also has a lovely play area for the kids if we get some dry weather.

It’s a lovely place to meet for food, cozily done. Food is nice and tasty, while staff are friendly and attentive. We had a table for six and everyone enjoyed. There were veggie vegan choices, and the specials board had some good looking food. The pub is dog friendly (but not in all spaces so check before booking). Lots of car spaces, an outside sitting area. There’s even a kids area outside, and I suspect there are nearby paths to walk off a good meal. Certainly worth a positive review, we are on a Tuesday and the pub was busy which is good to see.

Had the Steak & Ale Pie. Can honestly say that this was the best Steak & Ale Pie, I have ever had!

Service and staff great, food great , ordered - Pasta , veggie lasagna , 8oz rump steak (cooked superbly) , 2 x children's sausages and chips , all cooked nice , good atmosphere too , Go again - - - oh yes

Terrible food. Terrible service. Awful atmosphere. Almost to the point I felt I was inconveniening them by asking them for a meal. NEVER AGAIN! MY 8oz STEAK LOOKED LIKE A CHEAPY BURGER (THAT YOU GET 8 FOR A QUID OR SOMETHING). LITERALLY ONE OF THE WORST MEALS IVE "EVER" EATEN. HATED IT!!! And my partners meal was even worse. I think ive said enough tho.......quite sad. Gutted. And it all cost OVER £40!!! Now look, i love eating good food and dont mind paying for it, THIS, UNFORTUNATELY was NOT one of those times.

I was hugely surprised ( shocked) , having had lunch here on several previous occasions, to find that I should have booked? I was informed on arrival that food would be 40 minutes, well OK I could do that (just), Unfortunately I was then informed that this was until I would be ALLOWED to order, never mind how long it might take for the food to actually appear. As a vegetarian the menu was less than inspiring and coupled with the very cold welcome I received I decided to take my custom else where. I recently had lunch in well known restaurant in a nearby seaside town which was twice as busy when I got there but which welcomed me straight away and provided an excellent meal (from a wider selection) with a cheerful welcome. Sorry but I won't be going back to the Dyffryn and time soon.

I ordered two Pepsi Max's which were served on draught and were flat as pancakes. Both drinks had no fizz to them whatsoever and I paid over £7 for them, just for two drinks!! A very disappointing visit, I won't be going there again in a hurry. They're too expensive and most especially when the drinks arrive flat. The wait time was too long as well, we stood there for about ten minutes watching someone dry glasses. Not very polite staff, she could've acknowledged us but didn't. Our car was also dented in the car park. We wished we'd stayed at home or gone somewhere else.

The food was amazing we had Sunday dinner it was delicious. The service was quick and everyone was friendly. It was very busy which says to me they are very good.

as we passed along Neath road the pub looked inviting so on the spur of the moment we popped in hoping we could get a table. Nice welcome shown to nice cozy seats. Table service drinks ordered and then food ordered, lovely young man took our order and not long to wait our lasagna for me gammon for my wife arrive and they didn't skimp on the amount of food either. the bill came to £39.00...will not worry about calling again....the landlord/owners are Polish.

First time visiting. Invited out for a friend’s birthday meal. Very nice inside, good atmosphere quick service, lovely food. I’d certainly visit here again.

Food wasn't the best. The curry tasted like it was out of a jar, and the chips were burnt, and cold. Sorry I wouldn't recommend

My food was delicious, although marking down a star as it looked like my dad’s lamb was chewy in places. Park great for the kids. Would happily return!

Good chicken nuggets homemade chips and a delicious waffle the freshness of the blueberry’s and raspberries brought out the sweetness of the chocolate waffle proper good pub.

We've been dining at the Dyffryn for many years and had always found it good value! Our last visit, with two friends will be our last! Portions are small and prices have soared! We had deserts, one of which was Bread and butter pudding with one scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. The bread and butter pudding was very small but cost £8! We're voting with our feet! I will say that the staff there are very nice as always!

Special anniversary lunch. Special ma eal of the day was hake fillets , I had sea bass with cockles and laverbread veloute. Both dishes were beautifully cooked and presented. Apple crumble for dessert was delicious too. A very good experience.

We have been here before and as usual the food was excellent, staff are very friendly and efficient. The three of us all had a very tasty and well presented meals.

On website, states Pub closes at 10pm, not 9.30 on a Monday, like tonight. Bill for 3 people £94, bottle of house red £21. Pub is overpriced. All veg undercooked.

Very busy lots of people eating. Food tasted as lovely as it looked. I was with a large group of 19 people for a birthday party . So many other meals I'd love to go back and try. All of the food was hot, everyone enjoyed their food. Desserts were yummy. Overall look forward to returning. Staff were all friendly and attentive. Was a lovely fun evening.

Booked a Table for our monthly meal visit to different venues .haven't been to the Dyffryn Arms for a good while .Glad we did warm welcome cosy open log fire burning .shown out table orders taken swiftly drinks ordered .food arrived promptly all 4 agreed it was lovely food .We all had different meals and all were good quality.Sweets came and also good quality enjoyed our afternoon meal .Deffo be back soon .Diolch

Large carpark. Child friendly park. Lovely clean pub/ restaurant. Attentive friendly staff. Busy with bookings but managed to squeeze us in, inbetween without a booking. Served quickly. Nice food, large drinks selection, something for everyone. Take both card & cash.

I had read Tripadvisor recently to find that previous patrons reported very small portions so I wasn't surprised to find that the portions were very small. A vegan in our group had a very small meal, cauliflower gratin. It had an inner plate with a very small amount of cauliflower, two slivers of garlic bread and a side salad to try and fill the plate. Our scampi and chips came in two small wire baskets, reducing the portion size considerably. The vegan paid £14, ours were around £18. Very disappointing, I wish I had taken photos.

This is a fabulous venue for getting together with friends to eat wonderful food. I had a 3 course meal, the salmon and prawn starter, a turkey dinner and cheesecake, ( the best I had ever eaten ) The food was excellent, tasty and faultless. All served so well ,by extremely, pleasant and helpful staff. The place had a lovely Christmassy atmosphere , warm , clean and inviting. I thoroughly recommend the Dyffryn Arms and can't wait to return. Have a lovely Christmas all the fab staff !!

First Xmas meal this year. Very quiet there for a Thursday which was nice as not too noisy. Turkey dinner Tasted beautiful, could of done with a little more veg. Gravy was gorgeous. Not sure how I felt about the trifle, too many berries & not enough 'trifle'. Lovely warm mince pies with coffee to finish. Excellent attentive service all the way through. Will definitely eat there again.

Not good value a family lunch out for 9 it was Sunday lunch more like kid’s meals to be given one roast potatoe and one boiled each and one slice of meat one dish of veg and after having to ask for more and given a dish of peas and a few carrots is shocking 2 boats of gravy not what you expect from the dyffryn bryncoch ‘ staff great value for money terrible hopefully not invited there for a long time

We've eaten at the Dyffryn arms for years and always recommended it to friends and taken visitors there for meals. We had a meal there last week with friends and were shocked at the prices of the food and drinks!! The main meals were reasonably priced but the desserts and drinks were ridiculous! Very mean portions for dessert!! This is such a shame as it's always been a favourite place to dine! We're voting with our feet!!

Lovely night with friends. Food was affordable and well presented. I had fish but not to sure it was cod though, a bit bland. But in all fairness it did only say fish on the menu. Staff were great, polite and very helpful.

Tried the duf as told it has improved since last owners, but failed to impress, turkey processed, beff was brisket...

A true hidden gem! Fantastic fresh and imaginative dishes, good produce, really lovely food and friendly atmosphere, always busy, staff work really hard, prices reflect the quality of the food and presentation and are really worth it for a treat or special occasion! The curry is really nice and the beef short rib is simply perfect! Drinks reasonable and well looked after beers. Always interesting specials on too!

Been to Dyffryn Arms many times and enjoyed the experience. Tonight really disappointed the bill for four people came to almost £100. The staff were friendly that’s the positives. The negatives are that I ordered ribeye steak. I asked if I could have an extra tomato to replace the mushroom which I dislike. The waitress very politely told me she didn’t think the kitchen would allow my request. (They didn’t ) at a cost of £23 I don’t think giving a tomato would affect their profit margin. No jacket potatoes . Steak was quite gristly. Dessert no choice I had a brownie last visit was good tonight seemed dry . At almost £7 didn’t know that as no price on the board that they brought to the table. If we had thought to ask wouldn’t have ordered . Also tables very close together. Expected better as we had praised the Dyffryn to our friends.

Food is always enjoyable and the staff are very friendly.
