Was recommended by camp site staff, pretty on the outside . We called Tuesday night for a bar meal ,the tables were sticky with cleaning fluid spray which makes pine table lacquer sticky . The place was tired and in desperate need of refurb . My plate was cold thus making my food go cold , I asked for more drinks as we started to eat and was told I had to go to bar by barman who wasn’t doing anything, thus making meal even colder.

Great hotel in the lakes. Accommodating of families with kids. Was placed in an annex of which had a septic tank. The septic tank within the bathroom absolutely stank and caused the room to stink. Didn't get much sleep due to this. The staff were great and the breakfast is nice but I wouldn't stay again.

We stayed one night there and everything was perfect. The rooms, the staff, service, restaurant, breakfast, check in/out. Plus the location is great to start couple of hiking trails. I loved the terraces, having my coffee and breakfast in the stunning view is the best.

We stayed at the Skellwith Bridge hotel for the weekend (my wife was running the Lakeland 50) and it’s a fabulous place to stay. Located conveniently between Ambleside, Coniston and Hawkshead, everything is close by, and the restaurant and bar are both excellent. Rooms spotlessly clean, great breakfast, and a lovely, friendly service from the team there. Highly recommend.

Only stopped for drinks on this occasion, but well worth a visit. Friendly, welcoming staff and enjoyed watching the fell pony opposite!

stayed 2 nights at short notice after bad weather closed the campsite I was staying on... fantastic hotel in excellent location with walks from the front door. dogs and owners warmly welcomed! I stayed in a single room and was so impressed with it's size.the view from the window was amazing and the breakfast.. ...oh my goodness..fabulous. the only drawback for me was only channel 4 and itv2 could be received on the tv..so an evening relaxing watching tv after a long walk wasn't great.there is mention in the hotel info on the difficulty they were having in getting more tv channels...and this was also said at the desk when I mentioned it..but this seemed strange as there are a number of properties in the valley around the hotel...and I'm sure they ve solved the difficulty? other than this...fantastic hotel.thankyou.

Thoroughly enjoyed my wee stay at Skelwith Bridge Hotel. I needed a short getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life and my stay here was worth the trip. The room was super cosy upon arrival and I was able to check in early despite being half an hour early which was so nice and welcoming. The location is excellent for walks and close to Ambleside. The breakfasts were a great start to my day. The hotel lobby has a very helpful cabinet full of leaflets and walking guides which I found super helpful. Plenty of parking at the hotel with front and rear car parks. I also appreciated having actual room keys, as I find the electronic room card keys you often get a real pain as they can be easily deactivated when stored closely to electronic devices. I noticed a lot of reviews mention the lack of signal reception, but for me personally, this was not a problem as I do not watch television when I'm on a walking holiday. (I actually stored the room's television in the wardrobe during my stay.) The view from my room was stunning, and I could clearly see the sunrise and sunset. In addition the hotel's wifi is excellent so you are able to make calls via Whatsapp and not use up your data. Would highly recommend this hotel, particularly as a solo traveller I felt that all my needs were met. If you're looking for a quiet and peaceful place to stay in the Lake District then this would be the place.

Review of middle September visit. So in the words of “forest Gump” the hotel is like a box of chocolates quite not sure what you’re gonna get… let me elaborate On arrival we was really happy with the look, and location of the place considering some say it’s stuck on a roundabout, when in fact it’s opposite one that’s still a country roundabout “busy” but does not effect the hotel On arrival check in was easy and was met by the front of House manager. We also had a dog which was welcomed. The hotel looked well decorated and very fancy for being a boutique country style Hotel On arrival to the top floor room we was so happy to see the style continued Now we had some issues in this particular room, over the stay of 3 days in different matters. And it took some time for the manager to see we was not being fussy but genuine to the issues this went on over the course of are 3 days. But felt she should have been more shocked, and as annoyed by the findings as we was the we felt they was not, listened but no action really taken but listing to comments. Now by leaving the hotel sorted a compensation for room issues so out of fairness I will not list or slander. What I will say is that I feel they have better grips of the pub management and food offerings then rooms, I feel they need to go back to basics with what a guest expects from a room and be doing more checks on their team. I also note that a Friday morning keg and drinks ordered from the brewery was at 5:50 am ans was extremely loud to the point we heard the order being shouted to the team taking the delivery and not expected when your in the lakes for relaxing less early mornings, The hotel is owed by a couple and advertised in the welcome pack, my comment would be if they care they need to get in and see what is and is not being done in the rooms. Guests : First looks beautiful .. dive slightly deeper and your find the cracks For the trip it was well located to all local tourist towns and had a great field for dogs to use for the trip , could image that will be turned in to glamping pods one day. It’s worth noting a wedding was on the second day and again felt attention was given to where money was being spent on the day.
