We got had our wedding reception 21st September 2024. It was wonderful the staff were extremely attentive and the food AMAZING. Special shout out to Becca (catering manager)who catered for all our guests dietary needs , even to the point of gluten free gravy and talking to one guest about her complicated allergies. She went above and beyond. Also to Beccy (assistance manager we think.) All the food was fantastic, but the pie and peas delicious!!! Guests raving about Steak and Ale Tony the DJ wonderful mix of music all round entertaining guy.And a thank you to Luke and Chris. Sorry we don't know all wait staffs names, but all amazing happy hard working attentive staff. We would recommend getting married here . Thank you so much Last bit not least thank you for being there early to allow my step daughter to set up the room and helping them. Amazing value ,no hidden extras. Thank you Sarah & Sal

After eating one lunch time in July, the veggie lasagne was beautiful. In light of this, my family and I went for a meal last night (7 Sep 2024,) and what a disappointment. The food was dreadful. My veggie lasagne was obviously not fresh and to cover this up, there was at least an inch and a half of melted cheese covering the dry lasagne. Even with vast amounts of vinegar, it was too dry to swallow. The sausage on my son's mixed grill was as hard as a bullet. The Eton mess was a bowl full of tasteless stodgy cream with very little meringue or fruit. Disgusting all round and to top if off a shandy and 2 glasses ( no draft ,so small bottles that didn't make a pint of put in a glass with ice) of lemonade - £15. I won't go again

I've always held the Sitwell in high regard for cask ale and food but on my last few visits I've found both have left me wanting, cask ale is down to only 2 pumps now used to be 6 (3 on both sides of the bar but just 2 on one side now) and the last few times I have been in for food the service has been terrible, I ordered 3 small plates (nachos, halloumi & potatoes skins) last night at 1940 and wasn't told till 2020 that the nachos were out of stock, this was resolved quickly mostly down to me just getting what ever I could due to the staff not really giving me options (still took 15/20 minutes for my order), my order then arrived without my other 2 plates, this was resolved in 10/15 minutes, Would rather spend the extra money and go over the road to the golden ball then carry on with the decline in service and quality

Been for lunch and dinner here a few times now and always enjoyed it. The service and quality of food has always been outstanding hence the reason for our return visits. However, we went for lunch today and it was quite a disappointment. I ordered a cheese, onion, pickle baguette on granary bread and my husband ordered a tuna crunch on granary baguette. When it came, mine was so dry with no pickle and it looked like the very measley filling it had in, had just been thrown in and wasnt on the baguette i ordered. My husbands tuna crunch had just tuna, nothing else. The kind waitress took it back and bought it back 5 minutes later, by this time the chips that came with the meal were cold and all the chef had done was to provide a side order of pickle and threw a few bits of onion in my husbands baguette. Still the same baguette btw, that hadn't changed. We ate it anyway and left disappointed. As we have had so many good visits, we will return and try again in a few weeks and hope this was just a one off. I will obviously update this review on my next visit

Three of us arrived for dinner on 20/05/24 at approximately 5.30, the bar staff was no where to be found, eventually I found a girl on her mobile phone and in no hurry to sever us. I ordered the drinks, the draughty cider, was un drinkable, which I returned and purchased a bottle cider, which was severed with ice, which I did not ask for. We went to find a seat, several tables were dirty with used crockery on them, I asked for our table to be cleaned however, this was not done. The ice diluted the cider and we asked for a replacement, was informed the ice was already in the glass. I asked to see the manager Chris who had just come on duty, he was polite and agreed change the drink. Chris proceeded to clear and clean all the dirty tables in and out side. The dinners came, a polite young girl severed us, the pie arrived, the pastry was that hard you could not cut it. The bar staff on duty were shocking, ignorant, with no manners, shocking customer service. I have been going to this pub for years, but unfortunately it will be the last time, you vote with your feet and my feet will not be passing the threshold again. Very very poor

Expensive for decidedly mid food. They've changed the chicken burger so now it's lower quality than something you can buy at Asda or KFC. The chips were ok. The lasagne wasn't very well seasoned so tasted a bit bland. Chocolate fudge cake was ok though - same as weatherspoons tbh. The waiting staff were nice. Ultimately it's undeservedly expensive for what you get. Value for money would be about 40% less than what they currently charge. I'd go elsewhere.

We came a week ago for a birthday meal and food was lovely, nice atmosphere. BUT been today for the Easter event which we saw advertised the other day sounded great for the kids, WHAT A SHAMBLES! Was advertised as kids meal , crafts, games, prizes to be won, Easter egg and meet the Easter bunny. which turned out could only be chicken nuggets or pizza, crafts which what we imagined was all the kids sat playing together but again was just craft stuff dumped on our table, games which there was a box of old board games dumped on a table at the front..who on earth wants a game of monopoly or scrabble at the sitwell..jesus come on the way it was advertised was the staff would be playing games with the kids. Easter egg - they got a bar of chocolate, prizes to be won there was no games or prizes in sight, meet the Easter bunny, we are lucky we got to see in all honestly we was ready for going and had to ask when the Easter bunny would be out as the kids was fed up. Sorry but a total shambles wish we had gone elsewhere..the adult meals tonight was also terrible the tikka masala should be taken off the adult menu as the kids burgers was bigger. Terrible I'm afraid.

4 of us went for New Years Eve last night, paying £30 per person for pie and peas plus motown entertainment. Previously we have had a 3 course meal and entertainment for less than £30. Last night, at 11.40pm, the music stopped, the singer packed up and the DJ packed his bags. I asked what was happening as we were obviously there for the midnight festivities and the DJ said he'd been told to pack up at 11 40pm and recommend to us in the private function srea, to go in the main bar with everyone else. 2 of our party questioned this with the Manager, he'd only had the job for 4 weeks and he agreed with us that the party should have continued in the private toom. We have been to many new years eve functions st the Sitwell, and had a really good time. This year was definitely about doing it on the cheap with a hefty profit for the pub. In future, we will forego the private function and eat in the Chequers. This year, the Sitwell couldn't even be bothered to put out crackers or party hats and crammed everyone in with nowhere to dance. Poor quality, we will not be returning

It's unusual to find somewhere that ticks every box. Well done to everyone who works here. And Thank you. Christmas Dinner...wow massive portions. Banoffee pud lacked bananna flavour and very sweet but still delicious, but I'm not a food critic. Soup rustic tomato and crusty bread very tasty. Friendly attentive staff, nothing was too much trouble although the alcove table, the temperature was high, not good for women with their own thermostats. Staff did open the fire escape that provided welcome relief but it was soon closed by other customers which wasn't surprising. Perhaps if you are of a certain age, the alcove isn't for you but there are loads of other tables. This is a very popular pub so book early it does get busy at times but it was quieter on our visit on a Thursday night.

I am totally disgusted by the situation that happened tonight, tell me if I’m wrong but I don’t want to see a dog licking and eating food from a plate that someone has put down on the floor , to then be told by management that it it is a dog friendly area, when I have just had a meal there, which was rubbish by the way. I voiced my opinion and was told to f—————-f, by the man who had put his plate on the floor, after a few heated words, telling him to change his tone, and saying I would not lower myself to his level, management then went of crying saying I had upset her. Bank out of order the dogs laying on the seats that by the way have just been refurbished, I have a dog myself but she eats from her own dishes, and if anyone put a plate on the floor for her to eat from they would be eating theirs on the floor to ,then head chef ..? came out with his twopeneth and said it was totally acceptable for the dog to be eating from the plate. If like me you have scruples, I would never set foot in the place again. No senior management came to sort out the issue, but I was the bad guy, apparently I made the staff cry, someone else went to voice their opinion and the manager just walked away, very PROFESSIONAL, needless to say I will not go there ever again , and will be reporting this to health and hygiene , the owner has been asking why people are keeping away, this is probably the reason why

However after getting the bill I was told that this was never said? And that it wouldn’t be possible unless the bill of mine was over the deposit amount (£80) which for 2 of us it didn’t. This then meant that all my family had to work out their bills and send me the money prior to paying the bill as one, if we would have known this was the case we would have ordered out food items as each family’s meals not as a group. Apart from this the food and staff were great for a big party.

We had jacket potatoes, one with chilli the other with beans and cheese. Both my friends said these were good. I had fish goujon sandwich which was lovely and it came with a bit of salad and crisps. The staff friendly and helpful. I would recommend and gladly return if I was in the area

Nice pub but the food took an awfully long time to be served and was then quite dry as it had obviously been under a heat lamp for some time. Mentioned to the waitress that the egg was very hard and dry. She apologised and immediately brought a freshly cooked one which i was grateful for.

Lunch today for nine friends was excellent in every way. Lovely tasty meals, presentation and time from ordering food. Staff friendly and polite, gave us time and space to enjoy our long awaited catch up. Thank you

Overall it was a great evening for our party. Slight snag in that they originally gave us a smaller table than we booked but they soon fixed it. The wait staff were great and the food was very good. Will definitely return. A huge car park is a bonus as well.

10/10 NEW OWNERS I’ve just eaten at the Everest for the first time since new ownership and I can honestly say the food was 10/10, Really authentic tasty chicken tikka with rice, salad and chips reminded me of being abroad somewhere in a hot country. Fresh salad with mint yogurt dip. I have noticed they have since added cakes and desserts to the menu and I couldn’t resist a Pistachio Ice cream for afterwards. I can’t wait to try the cake selection.

Sunday roast dinner decidedly average. And therefore, not great value. And place not very busy. Mmmmm

This has got to be the slowest Nando's I have ever visited, the service was ridiculous and it wasn't even that busy (no more than 30 people).
