Sirloin steak cooked to perfection

Crispy chicken ciabatta, what can I say. The two pieces of chicken wasn’t crispy it was chicken that they use from the starters menu, must have run out . Ordered a pint of Guinness and was ask if it’s ok in a normal glass as we’re running short on Guinness glasses. Really , this pub needs a full refurbishment.

Their curry's are way better than the kind usually served by pub. Try the Friday curry night.

At the Hind yesterday with 3 other friends. Great food and great atmosphere.

Good food, decent menu, reasonable prices but service was very poor.

Visit the hind often, lovely staff and service, also dog friendly which my little fury friend loves coming in for her treat too 😊

Quite a long wait for food, but it's Friday evening and the venue was busy so not a problem. We ordered our food it arrived hot, plates were clean, as was the cutlery. The food was well worth the wait a good sized portion. We eat here as often as we are able to, it is a lovely pub to while away a Friday evening.

Both myself and my partner ordered a steak. 1 medium and 1 medium well, both came out well done. Even down to the simple chip choice that was wrong. There was no check back from the staff. Compared to other Ember Inns this was very poor. Very disappointing

Very poor. Long wait for food and when it arrived part of it was missing, Steak, chips and peas turned up eventually (no grilled tomato, onion rings or mushroom)

Sadly the outside table was filthy as was the floor of the beer garden. Very unloved. My salad was minus all the extras like cous cous, seeds as advertised and my friend had a wrap that could not be wrapped......too stiff maybe toasted. I mentioned this to 2 staff members but received a frown on both occasions and no apology. The only saving grace was the rather nice sauvignon Ned. We've eaten here many times in the past but sadly no more

Although there was a staff shortage due to illness we were informed there might be a delay by a notice on the entrance door and the bar but we never noticed, the staff were lovely very friendly and helpful the food was great and seemed to be served in a timely manner.

I've had a wonderful experience at the hind. Would definitely do to friends and family 100% be back. Love team as well always so welcoming and polite 😊

Food was okay, however the menu was wrote in pen on the back of a children colouring sheet. breakfast with Santa was the worst one we have ever been to. Santa didn’t speak to the children no Christmas songs. The children were bored. Won’t return again for breakfast with Santa.

Visited tonight as a party of 2. Not really busy. Tried to order drinks, asked about cider but they had none. Not a good start. Older guy serving not helpful. Asked about gluten free and was given a tablet to go through, fine done it before.Older guy who gave me the tablet came over and leant over my shoulder saying need this, never asked if I had finished. Found him quite rude and miserable. Went to order asked for gammon, told they had none, asked for steak again told they had none. Could have shepherd's pie but did not want this. Asked for chicken, plain with fries and peas, when it arrived no peas but coleslaw. Meal returned to kitchen, waited for replacement. Meal returned, dry but edible. The younger staff were smiling and helpful. The older member of staff could learn some manners and customer service from them. Been to many Mitchell and Butler pubs and never had such poor service and food. Obviously won't be returning here again.

Tried the Vegan burger. Was delicious.

Was only told on my fourth of the same cocktail that there was a deal on if I got two. Stated nobody had told me so was there a way of getting a refund of an amount (if this was me I’d of given this drink for free at this point). She simply said it wasn’t possible and kind of made a comment implying the staff weren’t capable and it was obvious they wouldn’t of told me. At this point I also pointed out the last drink was made wrong. Maybe they were new but an apology would of been nice… Also had to wait a long time to get served even though there was three on at the bar at one point with only one other group being served. The younger girl server was really nice though

Food cold, quality quite poor too, will not return!

20min to get served at the bar ,above 30min for food I had to send back ( steak sandwich and chips COLD ) never had service as bad ) Saturday afternoon and 1 serving at the . Gone totally down hill...just a footnote, the girl in the kitchen exchange my food and it was fine ,but still disappointed

Changed the menu slightly. No longer do home made Nachos.

We recently went for a family birthday meal. The service was below average from the outset - food took well over 40 minutes to come. Two of us ordered mixed grills and we were told after around 20 minutes there were no sausages to go on this. I ordered my steak medium and it was rare. The meat was chewy, chips cold and hard and the food was all round very poor. Used to be a great pub with decent food but has gone really downhill in recent years. Wouldn’t recommend going for a meal to anyone.

As always the service and food was fantastic, I can’t fault it will be returning next week for the curry club deal

Called recently and we waited in a queue for an eternity to get served, when we did "eventually" get served the bar person wasn't remotely friendly or polite and offered no apology or explanation (common courtesy). It is a shame because it is a lovely pub.

Staff and drinks great, the food not so great. Slow cooked beef, minimal meat which was tough and gristly. Partner had thick cut gammon steak that looked like 2 piece of thick bacon covered by a big slab of pineapple. The food definitely let it down.

A really good and pleasant place to eat.

The first time I've been to this place. I'm usually a Wetherspoons goer. Went with friends. Was great to see the place packed and people appear to be enjoying themselves. That's where the good part started and ended. Ordered food for 4 of us. Was informed it would be about 45 minutes. We talked and drank out first pints and still waited for the meal. Around 50 minutes later food arrived and I truly wished it never did. The chips was almost cold, definitely chewy as if they had been cooked hours before. The Onion rings can only he discribed as vile and full of oil. The peas just rolled around as in trying to escape off my plate which I don't blame them! Only saving grace was the stake ..? We then waited about another 40 minutes for our puddings. We asked a member of staff who was a young male and I was shocked to hear him say " it'll be with you when I can get it to you".. I understand pubs get busy but by this time it wasn't so busy. Needless to say the sticky toffee pudding was slightly over micowaved but ok custard.. I always had better experience at Spoons and that's where our custom will be next time.

Ordered a falafel wrap and it came open on a flat bread…which I’m not keen on. The falafel was cold and the chips underdone

I won’t be returning. The food and service diabolical. On walking in the pub it was busy so I assumed it would be good food but after a 45/50 minute it was understandable due to the place being busy. The food more or less thrown at us and cold. I have to say I’ve eaten better food at fast food chains. We’d gone for the set menu so after a good 30 minutes after eating what we could from the main we asked a male member of staff about our desserts. Staff reply was unhelpful and far from customer service one would expect. Desserts finally arrived and let’s just say it was not worth the wait. Everything felt like cheap frozen food.

Nice quaint pub. Great selection of drinks and all reasonably priced. Did not eat but it looked nice :)

Medium portions, but very nice! Service was excellent! Also remembered to ask if I had any allergies before I was going to mention it! This provided part of the atmosphere as warm and welcoming! I will definitely inform others to go there and of course go again myself!! I had half a roast chicken and chips, my friend had burger and chips with a small salad!

Great place for lunch and an amazing pint of Guinness. Mixed Grill is a go to all fresh and perfectly cooked

Family meal today. Food was mixed, gammon was lovely, veg not so good. Roast chicken dry, steak was over cooked but the rest was good. Puddings were good but disappointed the sundaes didn’t come in a sundae glass. Staff were friendly but distant.

We really enjoyed our visit. The food and drink were good and the service was good too. However they seemed understaffed as they were very busy and the waiting times at the bar was a little excessive. However we enjoyed our visit

Went for lunch with my daughter, The young staff male and female very friendly and sociable and good at their job.Eaten here on many occasions and never been disappointed, food always tasty and fresh. I always recommend the Hind to people for food, delicious.

Booked table for 7 people for sunday dinner , food was lukewarm and not nice , service was 2nd rate and we will not be returning .

The food was lovely we had a starter,main and a dessert and every bit was really nice. We really enjoyed ourself and the staff was nice as well and very friendly.

We visited yesterday for the Valentines promotion you had on offer. We booked over 2 weeks ago after seeing the menu and wanted to dine here to take up the offer. We wanted the rib of beef for the extra £4 pp supplement! On ordering at 5.30pm on the first day of the promotion We were told the rib of beef had already sold out!!! At 5.30 pm on the first day, I do not find this acceptable at all and was really disappointed!! So we went on to order rump steak instead, my partner was eating his and said it was nice, I thought mine was a little chewy, but carried on eating, I got half way through my steak then couldn't cut it, I looked at the steak and noticed the next half was just all gristle , it was terrible!! I went to the bar as no one had been over to check everything was ok with our meal. He sent someone over and I explained so she took my plate and said she would take it in the kitchen! She returned within a few minutes and said chef would cook me another. My partner was still eating so I said thankyou that would be great. I waited and waited and waited, it wasn't overly busy and they were coming to surrounding tables regular with food!! In the end I waited 30 minutes then went back to the bar and asked for a refund on my meal, the gent said your joking it hasn't come, I'll go and check!! So he returned to our table within about minutes put down £13.49 and just rolled his eyes as if to apologise but didn't!! I had no apology , no explanation of why my meal was missed no offer of a drink or a dessert for an apology nothing!!! It totally ruined our valentines meal. Not only had my first choice sold out apparently , now my second choice was inedible and never got replaced! There was also another 2 tables after me that complained about their steaks, i was in earshot and could hear them also complaining, but I wasn't close enough to hear all that was said. I really expect better at an Ember Inn and really would like a reply to this feedback please! Valentines is once a year and ours was spoilt!!

Very disappointing! As a result of asking for Gluten free bread with my soup from the lunchtime menu, the chef refused to serve me food at all saying they weren't prepared to take the risk! I was made to feel like a leper. We therefore had to leave as no food would be cooked for us.This establishment has no facilities for alternative dietary requirements. THEY SHOULD JOIN THE 21ST CENTURY! Ps...we left our drinks!

Actually, really tasty food, for a good price and served quickly. Very pleasantly surprised.

Food was very good but there was only one beer on hand pull and that was a Porter Apparently the staff were too busy to pull the beer through the lines . Not good enough really and although the food was good how can you have a pub with no beer

Absolutely fantastic service from all staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Been a few times now and have recommended to friends who have also been. Food fantastic, service fantastic. Clean, friendly and great atmosphere. Can't wait to come back

Staff were great and very attentive to us as we ordered a 3 course meal. The food was great.

The food was really good & the offers are a good draw. The cocktails were also great & staff are friendly.

Service very slow no atensten to detail

We like the steak night so booked a table for 6:15 (steak night starts at 5pm) to be told there are no steaks available and the only thing left on the steak menu was the beef ribs so we ordered off the regular menu. A family member had gifted us a voucher as they know we go often so we attempted to use it tonight but after being at the bar for 10 minutes while the staff tried to figure out how to use it we gave up and just used cash. On that note all staff looked miserable. While we were waiting 45 minutes for food to arrive (it was only 2 of us and I had a microwaved lasagna) a very large group of men arrived and put several tables together in the middle of the room so nobody could get past so if you needed to go to the bar or when the staff arrived with food you had to walk around them who btw were obviously drunk and were not eating so the staff should have directed them to go in the drinking area or around the bar so the people surrounding them could enjoy their meals comfortably. The food was not enjoyable and the atmosphere was even worse as soon as we finished we left. We were going to leave before we ordered but knew it was a busy period time of the year so wasn’t sure we would get a table elsewhere. Safe to say we will never be going again and advise people to do the same and this is not just based on this visit alone as there are usually small issues most visits

Disorganised no one knew what we were doing up to my drinks before sitting at our table waiting for it to be done then I went to ask members to see whether our table was ready and when it was ready we sat down wasn't aware of what exactly was going to happen with it was going to be complementary drinks or not not really clearly explained enough first serving's came out and then the next lot after that and then desserts come out after that this was quite a delay between meals servings and then I was waiting for my fourth course which was cheese and crackers pretty much a basic cheese platter and that took longer to come towards and I ask whether it was going to get it or not and that fact that the time it came out we ended up asking two of The Platters to be put in to a doggy bag so we could take you home food from freezer if you like that and keep coming to this pub play bog standard chef hasn't got any finesse whatsoever happier with a hamburger from Burger King at least that comes with some finesse

We visit here regularly but we were here specially to celebrate my friends birthday. The festive food (we had the 3-course) was delicious and great value for money (we sent complements to the chef), the service was excellent the young waiters being very accommodating, and there was just the right amount of time between courses for us to enjoy every one. (Just don’t put the prices up next year now I’ve said all this 😂)

The Hind is a place myself, family and friends visit on a regular basis. Today being my birthday we booked a table for 4 and booked the festive menu. We all enjoyed it very much. Lovely food and fantastic service. Thank you for making my birthday extra special.

We always enjoy visiting The Hind. The staff are friendly, but professional at the same time - most have got the balance just right and the atmosphere is good.

Food is definitely better than it used to be. Recommend booking a table in advance even if not eating as it gets very busy. If you want a quiet drink, this place may not be for you as there are children running around screaming.

The food we had was lovely. But they didn’t have 2 main courses we wanted and then didn’t have the pudding we wanted. Also brought us someone else’s pudding. And couple of members of staff looked incredibly unhappy so it wasn’t service with a smile.

We had booked a table but because the bar staff was busy we had to find it ourselves, There only seemed to be one staff member behind the bar to take orders and serve drinks which made ordering slow. We were told food would be an hour wait. We only ordered main course but it took nearly 1 hr and 40 mins. The food was only ordinary and a bit disappointing for the price charged. Soft drink prices are exorbitant.

Served at the bar by daisy, prompt service, and served my food by jonno, even had a checkback yo make sure everything was alright.

Arrived at 8pm for an 8.15pm booking. Pub didn't seem that busy. Went to bar to order. Served quickly. Told there was an hour wait for food. Asked if I wanted to put on a tab or pay now. I said pay now. Ordered 2 meals and 2 drinks, had a 50% off voucher so put that through. Should have been about £20. Paid by card an came up at £42. I said that's too much and was told that included the tab on our table. I said not my tab I've just arrived. Wasn't believed at first then another staff member realised their mistake. Took 20 minutes to sort. Left standing at the bar not told what was happening as they served other people. Just about to leave when sorted out. No apology for inconvenience. A nice meal but not impressed with the service.

Could only give 1star on each of the above. Its was The Worst place myself and Family have ever tended.

The food was absolutely delicious and the staff that we interacted with were all incredibly friendly. The place is also VERY dog friendly! From the time we arrived, we were asked immediately if we wanted a water bowl for our dog and they even gave us some treats. We were sat next to the fire place which was so cozy and our dachshund definitely loved it. One thing I can say for improvement is the speed of service. We had quite long gaps between courses and ended up being in the pub for approx. 2 hours. We understand that with it being Sunday, they may have been short staffed so we didn't want to pester for our next course. Despite the slow service, we have already booked a table for our next visit as we were overall satisfied with everything else :)

Easy to park off main road in their own car park. Decent choices on menu and not too dear. We both had the linguine, mine was with two sea bass fillets (cooked nicely, with crispy skin), my wife had chicken which she liked. Place was moderately full when we arrived at 6pm. Quiet, considering there were kids there, and a dog, and no music blasting out. Food order was placed at the bar. There was an app you could use, great if you had a phone with you! It's an age thing. We will go again.

Lovely clean pub, good beer choices

We had a table booked for a Sunday for 10 people took our order to the bar only 2 out of the meals were available, someone could have explained before we looked at the menu that Sunday lunch had finished we all ordered and again took the order to the bar and paid it was 1 hour and 20 minutes before some of the meals were served then another wait for the rest and it wasn't worth the wait needless to say we won't be going again, very dissatisfied. If we had turned up on spec fair enough but the meal had been booked.

Main food was good. You could improve the desserts.

Six of us ate here on a Friday afternoon, the place was grossly understaffed. We arrived at 2pm, ordered straight away, had to wait 20 minutes for starters then waited 40 minutes for main course, waited 40 minutes for the plates to be cleared off the table and another 20 minutes for desert. One of party had to have a take out box for their desert as everyone else had finished. Felt sorry for the staff trying their best but pulling pints and serving food with a queue at the bar was stressful for them. Most of the meals were nice, the sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie were outstanding.

It was busy and had to wait to ask where we were sat as we had booked so we were stood a good 5 mins, when we were told our table we ordered our drinks and opened a tab, our meals were delicious

We went on a night they had an offer on unfortunately it was very busy and there was not enough staff on to cover the amount of people in there. The food was good 👍 but the service was poor 😫 the staff that were on were young and didn't seem to have the experience to cope. Hopefully they will get better for next time we visit.

We decided to just share some starters. Most were nice, but the sharing nachos were devoid of any cheese, so we had to send it back for more, and then unmelted cheese was just thrown on top and handed back to us. So initially quite flavorsome, but after the first layer, it was just dry nachos.

Excellent food, well priced. Same for Drinks. Only criticism is being expected to find our reserved table by reading the blackboards.

Looking a little old and tatty in places but the service was spot on and we really enjoyed the food.
