The Sip Lewes in Lewes

I was told about this place by a friend so decided to give it a try. So glad we did. Great menu, lot's of choice. I had the teriyaki chicken poke bowl and my partner had the frittata. Both were delicious 😋 nice choice of drinks. Service was very good and l would certainly recommend this lovely eatery to anyone looking for a fresh tasty meal. Looking forward to trying other things of the menu. Thank you 😊

Food was fine, service ok, but like most of these small places we'll overpriced. I have always thought that high profit margin on a few customers, gets beaten hands down with a 15% reduction to attract more customers! Then hence a bigger profit margin month end. If the same was applied to pubs. Maybe far less would have to close!! Not rocket science regards Paul kenning M.I.S.M

I pooped into The Sip for breakfast before catching my train back to London. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It seems to have quite a few regulars as the staff were catching up with their lives in between serving. I had the Eggs Benedict and a cup of tea. It cost £14.90 (March 2025) and was very good and worth the money. The base was a slice of sourdough bread which was piled high with ham hock and two perfectly poached eggs and a drizzle of hollandaise sauce. A great way to start the day.

Food so ordinary. Staff not very friendly. Coffee does not compare to independent shop nearby.

We are so lucky to have the Sip Cafe in our town. It is such a wonderful place to meet my friends and have informal business meetings in an atmosphere that is up beat and very friendly. Our host Danny is a professional and never fails to ensure that high quality service and food are consistently provided however often you visit. The Sip Cafe deserves to be in the historic centre of Lewes and is fast becoming our social Hub Cliff A

Pre football lunch homemade Fish Finger sandwich cheesy skinny fries and Bubble and Squeak with flat mushrooms and poached eggs absolutely delicious we will be back for sure this was our second visit. First was breakfast also amazing

Very friendly waiter, the building seems to do a lot of things including a workspace (not in the cafe) The food was very tasty, was told that everything is cooked to order & it did take a while to come, so if your in a hurry this isn’t the place but if you want a relaxing chat & some good food then it’s spot on. I had finished my drink way before the food came so my suggestion would be stick to the water until at least 10 mins after you order the food

Very friendly and accommodating Waiter. We had coffee / tea and cakes. The bakewell slice and brownie were lovely and rich, and had a good coffee / tea selection. Would love to go back for a meal, we were a bit jealous of the fish finger sandwich on the table next to us!

Hidden gem of Lewes tucked away in the charming Fisher Street. I often use the coworking space, and the staff are kind enough to bring through coffee and food to the desks. The hot drinks are wonderful, the staff are unfailingly friendly and welcoming, and I can honestly say they do the best fish finger sandwiches I've ever had. Highly recommend!

Outstanding. We were visitimg from London and were at Birling Gap in the a.m. I craved a decent lunch, and we decided to spend the afternoon in Lewes. Turns out, until last night - the best Jacket Potato in town belonged to my kitchen. Not anymore! Everything was OUTSTANDING. We will be back!

The place is really nice, but unfortunately, my avocado on toast with poached eggs was delivered cold - the eggs were probably waiting for the rest of the order to get ready before serving or were prepared beforehand. The bread used is a regular toast bread which is disappointing - for the price I would expect sourdough. The amount of avocado was good(I have paid for a bigger portion) and rocket salad was nice. The service was quick and the decor of the place was really nice.

A lovely, friendly café with great food. I had the full English with Yorkshire tea. Cooked fresh, with high quality products it was superb. Excellent and very friendly service.

Over an hour wait for food that was not worth it. One of the servers was very rude and never apologised only clamping they were stressed. Very poor customer service

Lovely vibe, beautiful food and great service. They kindly agreed to make me a bacon and egg brunch despite the breakfast menu having ended. 5 stars all round.

If you’re in the area, head over here for lunch. All food we saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing, literally ALL of it! Not kidding. Go see for yourself. I tried their Chicken Teriyaki Poke Bowl for lunch. Came with a kinda odd-looking dipping sauce on the side, do not miss this, was so soo nice, never had anything like it, but very very nice, and different. We were here on a random Wednesday in January, busy, but still remained a lovely atmosphere with staff making you feel very welcome. Lucky me we only live an hour away, will definitely be back! Big THANK YOU to The Sip for excellent service, lovely food, and for exceeding our expectations…

Lovely cafe tucked away in Lewes, just a short walk away from the train station with a great selection. Really reasonably priced and all home made. Family run with friendly staff makes you feel welcomed. All food is made on site using fresh ingredients and local produce. The owner is friendly and happy to accommodate a table if available. I visited The Ship Lewes today, and even if they were very busy I still managed to get great customer service and good food and coffee! I'd like to go back when is less busy to enjoy my time in there more

Brilliant cafe in the middle of old Lewes. Very friendly service with a very wide menu. The best Croque Monsieur I've had this side of the channel and a superb fish finger sandwich. I'd also like to highlight the hot chocolate as that was particularly good. Not sweet and sickly like most but had a slight bitterness to it. Perfect. Don't understand the comments on the noise levels as it was fine for me apart from the usual shouty kids.

Awful experience with the guy who runs it. I felt so uncomfortable I had to leave. Very rude and patronising and spoke to me like a child. Will never go back here again - my family have mentioned they avoid it already as do their friends. Lovely baristas and other staff though.

Website says breakfasts served till 11.45. We arrived at 11.20 today, Sunday to be told that breakfast service had finished. We had travelled from Hove on a cold windy day - no apology - they should amend their site. We left hungry and cold.

Lovely people, absolutely beautiful meal just what we wanted but don’t get the berry smoothie.

Went for lunch, don't normally do salad, but had the hallomi and beetroot salad. Amazing. And the staff are so helpful

I love it here. It’s warm, friendly, food is good, staff are incredible and there is other well thought out facilities in the building, such as a co-working space, podcast studio, therepy, architect… it’s just a little gem of Lewes.

We had lunch here today. I had Frittata and mixed salad and my wife had fish finger sandwich. Food portions were generous and tasted lovely. If we come back to Lewes we will certainly come here again. Friendly staff and clean toilets.

Everything about this place is 5 stars! We love it so much that it’s our regular stop whenever we come to Lewes. The food is delicious and very inclusive to dietary requirements, the service is so warm, friendly, and welcoming - nothing is too much trouble! We heard they’re now serving Sunday roasts too so we will definitely be back to try one of those.

Nice place and the staff are welcoming. This is totally a personal preference but I always prefer a nicer bread than the one we had with our breakfast.

Arrived halfway through a busy lunchtime. Efficient and courteous service with owner much in evidence to add further authority. We had beetroot, feta and walnut salad and the frittata and split them between us. Very generous portions, superb presentation and fresh and delicious. Excellent all round.

Exceptional quality food at this lovely café off the High Street. We had the most amazing frittata and calamari. Special mention to the stunning fish finger sandwich. The service was also outstanding from a team who were courteous, welcoming and very helpful.

We stopped in while walking the South Downs Way and camping. A very warm welcome and the breakfasts were delicious. They were happy to fill our water bottles for us too. Lovely place!

Along with 100% of customers present when I visited I was the wrong side of 75 years old. At our age many have hearing problems, finding difficulty conversing with partners when the background noise is too much in the foreground. I saw and just about overheard a lady ask if it could be turned down, and the waiter told them, I gathered, that it was their policy to provide it to all, and that there were speakers all over the eating area. The noise did not vary in volume or style the 20 minutes I was there, which was very tiresome. At 10.30 am most working-age people are probably at work. Casual observation of the Lewes demographic would show that a high proportion of the population is of retirement age, and would like silence, or at least less intrusive music suited to their age-group. I am not necessarily referring to Victor Sylvester and his Palm Court, just something more suited to the clientele than the youngsters employed there.

Me, my brothers and my little girl recently came in for breakfast. We were amazed with the service we got. I believe the male server that's usually in there is the manager ? He was so accommodating. My brothers and I said that it was the best customer service we'd received. I've never done a review for anywhere but this guy definitely deserves it. Thank you!! Oh and the food is stunning.

A fantastic new addition to Lewes, has a real homely cafe feel with a pleasant atmosphere. The food was bang on, not to overpriced or trying to be something other then classic good food.

The food was fantastic! We even tried our best to return during our weekend stay. The tuna melt and homemade fish finger sandwich were delicious, and the carrot cake was a delightful treat. Their unique tea selection was also impressive.

10/10 service. The Yorkshire man who was so welcoming. As soon as we sat down he gave a bowl of sausage to the dog. All staff were so friendly and we will definitely be coming again!

We had a wonderful time at The Sip in Lewes! It's located just off the high street, and our server greeted us with a warm welcome and seated us right away. We had made a booking in advance, which is recommend since Lewes can get busy on weekends. I had a delicious cooked breakfast alongside a fantastic black coffee made from locally roasted Tigermoth beans. The breakfast hit the spot, and the coffee was great. It's definitely a place to visit if you’re in the area.

We're so glad to have stumbled across this restaurant by chance on a day trip to Lewes. We had a delicious lunch of pork belly poke bowl, tofu poke bowl, and club sandwich, all prepared fresh and generous portions. The chairs were so stylish and comfortable that we asked where they were from. We now have our own set in our dining room! Would heartily recommend and will make the effort to return.

On the day we visited, they didn't have one of the veggie options available - the chilli bean dish - which was a shame and kind of limits the options. Still, the mozzarella and pesto panino I had was okay and the place has a nice atmosphere with helpful service. There were no tables available when we first entered but Daniel soon found us a space. The other dishes we had were the Thai fishcakes and the Caesar salad - all went down well.

I felt so welcomed! The atmosphere was very relaxed. All the staff were friendly and efficient. The Cafe itself is beautifully decorated and full of gorgeous plants. Most importantly the food - great portion sizes and delicious!! I will definitely be back. Thanks guys!!

A really tasty lunch, and super welcoming staff! The Poke Bowls were incredible. We cycled through Lewes. We were hungry and wet from the rain and the manager made space for our bikes at the front and gave us towels to dry off. Definitely recommend a visit!

We were instantly made to fell welcome and that nothing was too much of a bother for them. The owner/staff were very friendly and accommodating. I love the decor, very relaxing fresh and clean. The food is freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. We came back a 2nd day for breakfast but arrived abit before opening but the owner saw us and invited us in to sit and wait with a cup of tea Amazon service. If we come back to Lewes again we will definitely be back to try more on their menu. Highly recommend this place if you get a chance.

Popped in for breakfast while staying in Lewes. Wow! The full English was amazing. Huge portion and piping hot and fresh. Service was fantastic. We were instantly made to feel very welcome. I would absolutely recommend a visit to this delightful cafe.

Coffee black Americano fine. Bakewell nice but a little stale. Fresh today? I still ate and enjoyed it. Busy which is always a good sign. Would return but maybe not the Bakewell Plenty of other cake choices.

Great service, very helpful and friendly. The food looked and tasted great too. The thing we didn't like however was that from our table I could see the chef in the kitchen eating with the same hands he was preparing our poke bowls with though!

Probably the best coffee place in Lewes. Great also as a working location (offices at the back at a modest cost).

A great cafe right in town center. It was not too busy and allows you space for chitchat and enjoy music. We were amazed by super great customer service. Feel like we were taken cared of by an uncle. There are not many options for non-bread cuisine yet you would not go wrong with this menu. We chose the pork belly and chicken keto, they were super delightful😊 highly recommended 😄

The opposite of restful. The pumped-in hip-hop music was very loud and the highly strung and over-familiar manager was constantly yelling over our heads. The cafe is essentially a busy highway between the kitchen and the restaurant. The highlight of our visit was hearing the staff make fun of the manager’s affectations behind his back. 😆
