The beer is fantastic. That gets a 5. But the service, attitude and apathy we got from a member staff isn't good enough. It doesn't reflect the warm community vibe Beak gives off as a brand. I wrote privately to Beak on this matter as I don’t think it’s productive giving poor reviews before you’ve had a chance to resolve privately. I never got a response. Will still buy the beer but won’t be going back to the brewery.

A fantastic tap room in Lewes. The beers are always good & they always have something interesting on. They do regular events, have board games & a great rotation of food vans. It's right next door to a great coffee roastery as an added bonus. Definitely visit if you can!

Brewery without easy access unless you have a car. I saw someone drive after downing a pint. Poor use of the space. Despite the beautiful cliffs, you're still drinking in a shed / car park. You need a proper location in town. Lewes doesn't need another charity shop.

All the beers here are delicious. The scenery was beautiful and it was worth the trip from London. The staff was very kind and I will be back to Luis again. I will definitely go there when I go

One of the best breweries I've experienced on an industrial estate. Vast variety of beers to cater for all tastes, very efficient service and good choice of areas to cope with all kind of weathers.

I just tried the Hum pale ale from Beak at The Drop in Brighton and it was one of the best beers I’ve had in a long time. Hazy, juicy and all round generally bangin’. Highly recommend giving this place a try. Looking forward to visiting the tap room!

Great beer and location just a shame the staff don't have a clue as it took 30mins to queue for a drink!!!!! Yes it was busy but won't be staying for another and won't be having food either, you need to look at other taprooms and get your act together!

I just love Beak. The beers are top-notch, never disappointed. The taproom itself is in one of the most unique places you can drink beer at, facing the white cliff under the perfect blue sky. Finished my Lewes beer mile here (pick up your card at any of four stops) and couldn't be more happy. Will be back next year for These Hills again (fingers crossed it will happen) and just thinking the area in front of the taproom could be used for the festival as well, sheltered by the cliff and with enough prepwork.

Great experience at the Beak taproom after These hills Fest was cancelled. Considering the circumstances the atmosphere was electric, everyone was in high spirits and we got to meet some amazing people! And what can I say about the beers, they are just incredible! They speak for themselves! Secluded industrial park, surrounded by chalky cliffs. Awesome venue! It certainly softened the blow of the 6 and a half hour drive from the Lake District.

This is a wonderful brewery....packed to the rafters with decent beer and impressive equipment. Cannot believe I have not been before. Reminds me very much of the awesome Howling Hops in Hackney Wick. This place champions hops including some really interesting new varieties. The malt backbone is spot on. Huge range and super-friendly staff. Next up....let's see some other styles apart from American Pale) IPA/ DIPA. A nice Baltic Porter yes please! It's summer and I did see a very inviting Imperial.Stout in the fridge! Well done to all. Fabulous.

Well worth the 10 minute walk from Lewes high street. Really enjoyed Beak beers over the years in various bars so great to finally see where the magic happens. Great tap room in an industrial estate. Here the weekend just gone. Like a lot of this type of taproom, Beak is built into a working brewery. This one sits on a trading estate about 10 minutes outside of the pretty town of Lewes. It has a decent sized outdoor area, tables and heating inside, some loos, a small bar and room for outside catering. Compared to other taprooms I've been to (DEYA, Phantom, Verdant, Double Barrelled, Two Flints, Indie Rabble & LHG) I came away a bit dissappointed. For a start its tatty and doesn't look to have had any money spent on it. The bar is too small for the amount of tables, leading to long queues at times and the bar and toilets are pretty much on top of each other so you're never sure you're in the right queue. Its all a bit haphazard and, while I get its a working brewery, other people have done it better IMO. The beer is top notch. I'm a big fan of Beak and generally love everything they do but even I found it got a bit samey after a few. Beak do the hazy thing as well as anyone but every beer looked the same no matter an IPA or a Pale and the menu when I was there lacked a bit of variety. Yes, they did have 1 Westcoast but that was a guest beer, not theirs, just the 1 DIPA and 2 loaded Stouts. The website says 15 taps but there weren't 15 beers for sure so I'm not sure where that number comes from? The fridges were also a bit lackluster. They did have wine and cider and there were some low alcohol options but, from what I could see, the Beak choices just replicated what I could get on draft barring 1 extra stout. I guess I hoped for a bit more choice as why would I buy a can when I can get draft the same night? Takeaway maybe? Anyway, prices were OK and service was fine but 2 guys behind a bar when there's 150 plus customers out front just isn't good enough. I wonder if they're a bit of a victim of their own success here? I also really object to plastic glasses indoors and ended up offering to buy a glass when told they didn't have any. Whether this was because it was busy and they didn't have enough glass collectors (the collection of empties and general rubbish was a bit slow) or they just wanted plastic outside, I really don't know but, personally, I was dissappointed by it. Food was what you expect from taprooms - on trend and a bit pricey. This weekend was tacos - they were lovely but they'd run out of 2 of the 3 offers by 7.30 Saturday night and it was Jackfruit or nothing. With a bar open past 10pm this seemed a bit of a lost opportunity to me but it tasted great and arrived promptly so I've no real complaints. Lastly, the music. Dance music from when I arrived to when I left. Non-stop. No DJ, no break, no variety and very loud. Yes, its Saturday night and I suppose I'm not the target customer, being a few years older than the average person there but I've never known a craft beer place to do their music like this and didn't really like it. So, in all, I'm glad I went to Beak as I've drunk the beers for years and would consider myself a fan. I still am. Maybe it was the colder weather. Maybe it was Saturday night and they tone it down on other days or maybe it was just much busier than usual for some reason and they didn't have the staff but I ended up leaving the taproom a pint or two earlier than I thought I would and I wouldn't make the effort to go again, sadly.

Beak brewery is in a great setting against the cliff, and has a fun and welcoming atmosphere. This is its downfall: there is a perpetually long queue for the loo and the bar- had to wait about 10 mins for each. It's a preventable problem, as there are only 2 loos for the whole place and very few people behind the small bar. So if they invested in more facilities it'd be a much more pleasant experience for the bladder and mind. Also probably too many varieties of beer, really there's only so much variety you can give a juicy IPA

Having discovered this place about three years ago it amazingly has never disappointed! The beers are excellent and super well priced(some for £5.50 a pint) considering it’s some of the best craft beer in the UK. It’s always well staffed and you never wait long at the bar. The food options they have are always super tasty and varied so you rarely come across the same food van unless you are there every week. Wish this place was my local.

So disappointing tonight, a real shame. A regular customer having visited plenty of times over the last 3 years both for drink in, dine in and take out cans. The Caccia takeover today was a real let down. Incredibly overpriced and underwhelming food - a chunk of under filled bread, tasteless ice berg wedge salad, at least the chips were decent enough. £72 for 3 adults and a toddler. £12 Negronis, feels like a piss take given the setting and standard being served up. It really feels like the foundation of offering an inclusive, local, high quality product has been lost. A massive let down at the end buying takeaway cans with incredibly small range and low stock and told to buy elsewhere from local retailers. This is supposed to be a taproom, a front for a really good brand who have aimed to keep quality at the forefront. Can prices reflect that and the product rarely misses the mark. It’s not the first time the food offering has been poor, perhaps a proper review of suppliers, quality and prices is needed as it’s a real turn off.

It's likely due to the festival and limited staff at the taproom, but the patrons here are filled with terrible people. Hopefully not representive of the local community, but the arrogance and lack of respect (spilling beer on women and then asking if they were with anyone) makes this an easy miss when you have to travel out of the way to get to. Wonderful beer, worth having anywhere but here.

Without a doubt the absolute highest bar at which craft beer should be judged, not just locally or nationally but globally. So good that not only had we driven three hours to visit but another couple had driven six! The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and downright brilliant in every way. Their support for, and collaboration with, other breweries and beer spots shows a genuine passion that goes beyond just being a simple brewery and taproom. The seating areas are comfortable and communal enough to meet new people with some more private spots if you're there for a little peace and quiet. Even the merch is superfluous in quality! The rotating food trucks are good value and always top notch, with vegan options aplenty. If I could find one fault, I'd have to be an even more cynical person than I am, but it's honestly just not possible. If you're thinking about heading to Lewes for a visit, stop thinking and get down there! Beak is a shining light marking the completion of one's craft beer pilgrimage.

Just a short walk from the Lewes train station, these folks are producing some great beer in a cool, industrial setting. Couldn’t be a nicer group of people, too. Really well run, from the social distant spacing of tables and protocol of order/delivery to the excellent food truck that was on site (vegan that particular day). If their IPAs Parade and Strangers (bangers!) have anything to say about it, don’t be surprised to hear these guys mentioned in the same breath as DEYA and Verdant in a few years as they continue to refine their craft.

I’m new to Lewes as I’m visiting. I’m also a coffee shop aficionado. So, as I’d done nearly all the coffee shops in town I did a Google search for my last one and try somewhere different. I found this place via the excellent reviews, but being by the station I was curious if they were true. I can wholeheartedly agree with everyone else! The coffee here is most definitely the best tasting, but the service from Delina was impeccable! Kudos to the team for creating a good space to switch off and watch the world. And I’ve been to a lot of coffee places around the world!
