The Side House in South Kesteven

Wow i visited the beginning of August and since then i’ve been 3 times! The generous portions, tasty food and good value for money are outstanding. The side salad and coleslaw that come with the sandwiches are delicious (I would buy the coleslaw to take home). I love it! I just worry that when the winter season approaches there won’t be enough space inside to sit down even more so with its increasing popularity. Just look at these huge sandwiches with a generous filling!

Visited for the first time with friends on recommendation and was not disappointed. Ordered the full breakfast Monty which was very good as was the coffee. Well worth a visit.

We came in for the Summer Afternoon Tea today and it was beautiful. There was not a ting on it that we did not like and it was amazing value for money. The staff were very very friendly and helpful and were able to box up our left overs to take home. A really lovely experience. 👏🧁🥮🍰

One of the best places I've visited in a long time. Even had time to show us the tasty dressing they had used on the salad. Will definitely be going again

Wow, what a lovely place! Great decor, fabulous menu and food, and the staff are the friendliest people!! I called in whilst my car was being repaired, and am currently eating the best full english i’ve ever had! Such a great place that i’ll be visiting again!!

The Side House provided sandwiches, cake etc for the reception we held after my dad's funeral, next door in the Village Hall. Excellent from start to finish, good communication, helpfulness, and really delicious high quality food, thanks very much indeed.

Great choice of fresh food and amazing cakes! Delightful hosts that went the extra mile with a Happy Birthday sing song for my elderly mother as they delivered the desserts - made her day!

My wife and I had a great snack lunch at the Side House. They are very aware Gluten Free options for all you Coeliac's out there, just ask when ordering. The staff cannot do enough to help you. The setting if beautiful - set in village garden if weather allows you to sit outside. I highly recommend Club Sandwich. Many thanks to all the staff.

If you are looking for good food and a brilliant setting look no further than The Side House”. We cannot praise it enough. The staff are so friendly. The atmosphere is great. When the weather is dry you can sit in the gardens. Car parking is just at the side and easily accessible. The portions are big, especially the cakes. Try their milkshakes, you won’t be disappointed! Well done to all at The Side House!

Great breakfast - well worth a detour, stopped on way up the country, 2 full breakfasts that featured very good sausages and bacon, no pink flaccid meat based conglomerates here. Lovely coffee deserves by smiling staff- Covid measures in place - felt safe and super hygienic. Highly recommend

Lovely food. Very friendly staff. I can't recommend this cafe enough. Really good takeaway service. Homemade cakes are delicious. The vanilla milkshakes are my personal favourite.

10 out of 10. Absolutely amazing Christmas Afternoon Tea. Beautifully prepared and presented. A perfect substitution for Betty’s of Harrogate (closed due to COVID) and just as good in my humble opinion. Thanks to Kate and her team for their efforts as this was for a special birthday. Try this. You will not be disappointed.

This is a little hidden gem, lovely local produce, freshly prepared and amazingly friendly staff! The take out service is so efficient and the Covid practise is 100% We love the coffee and bacon bap on seeded bun is amazing. Lots of other delights to have also. It’s such a treat! Very good cakes and drinks and a lovely place to stop off when cycling. Plenty of seating both inside and out and space to park up bikes.

Yet another super visit here today. As always the welcome is warm, plenty of choice on the menu and lots of lovely cakes.

We had a fantastic afternoon tea. The sandwiches were amazing and all very different. Not just normal run of the mill. The desserts were excellent and the service was very good. Highly recommended. Only negative is that the toilets are outside.

Another gem in this lovely village. Good selection for lunch, salads, bubble and squeak etc. All reasonably priced. They also do afternoon tea that looked very impressive. Well worth a visit.

Just returned from lunch at The Side House in Claypole for lunch with a friend. Lovely friendly staff and food delicious. Will be back!

The staff were very welcoming and helpful with the 2 year old we had with us, I had american pancakes, my wife had eggs on bubble squeek which looked deliciuos, our friend had a new yook deli sandwich and her 2 year old daughter scrambled eggs on toast. Everything was great, Claypole is so lucky to have such an excellent cafe.

Visited today whilst out and about on the motorbike exploring Newark/Lincs/Leics making most of the elusive sunshine!Set in the lovely little village of Claypole, the building itself is somewhat impressive, as are the well maintained gardens that adjoin it.When I first entered, I thought, blimey, this is a bit small! Downstairs you have the kitchen area to the left, a set of stairs facing the door, and to the right you have a small dining area with one table in the corner, and the service/til area! My fears of having to eat outside in the cold though were soon put to bed when the lady behind the counter informed me that there was additional seating upstairs! Phew!There were numerous cakes to choose from, all home made apparently. I opted for a rhubarb crumble! I also opted for a Tuna and cheese melt, along with a latte. All very nice indeed!!Prices were reasonable, and there is plenty of off road parking available.Would I visit again? You bet I would!!

What a fab find. We went for a family breakfast and it was amazing. The kids loved the fluffy pancakes and Nutella. The full English was beautiful. We will 100% be returning to try more of the menu

Our second visit. We were ’wowed’ the first time after finding The Side House accidentally. We are from out of the area and actually parked the car to go across to the Butchers, but saw the sign. We had lunch and were impressed with both the food and the very friendly service. The 2nd time round we took our Son who’s not a natural ‘tea shop’ fan, but he was also ‘well impressed’ and a bit embarrassed that, living locally, he didn’t know it was there! Wonderful variety of menu items, some healthy options, good portions beautifully presented, great coffee, tempting cakes, good prices, lovely staff. What more could anyone want?

Called in here for a mid morning coffee while visiting a friend in the local area. A hidden gem in the centre of the village, the staff are extremely friendly, the menu choices are superb and excellent coffee. Would highly recommend this cafe.

Visited this cafe on Sunday afternoon mid walk. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The coffee was lovely and the food spot on. I had a sausage panini and my boyfriend had a sandwich. Cute little area to sit outside and great if you have a bike with you as there is plenty of room. Will definitely return.

A lovely oasis, a bit hidden so look out for it You wont regret it. Friendly staff. A pity the Grand old butchers bike isnt in fine working order...Future project !!!

I visited on my own just for a snack. Really lovely staff, and a beautiful area to sit outside (though near the main road through the village). The warm cinnamon roll was very good, and the cappuccino was excellent. I'll definitely be back.

Went for breakfast on Sunday and this place is amazing! Great quality produce and at reasonable prices! The decor is contemporary and clean, the staff are very friendly and the choice is unbelievable! The cakes are very special too and they also have gluten free products too. The coffee is really tasty and they also make their own smoothies!

Excellent little gem, staff very friendly and helpful, sat outside, had a lovely beef and Stilton Panini. Food very quick and tasty, staff very attentive and polite. Well worth a visit if passing or if looking for somewhere nice and new to eat.

This was our first visit, and we were not disappointed. I had the Goats Cheese and roasted vegetable salad, freshly made and a great dressing, my friend had the Chicken and Bacon salad. We shared a Raspberry and White chocolate Blondie - Delicious. Loved the decor and ambience, friendly staff. Will certainly recommend and will return.

Went to this cafe today for coffee and lunch with my Mum and sister. It had been recommended by friends. Well, it certainly did not disappoint. It was perfect in everyway. All the staff were attentive and friendly nothing was too much trouble. The cafe lattes and hot chocolate were piping and delicious and the food was very tasty. We shall certainly be visiting again. Highly recommended.

I organise monthly breakfast meets for a group of motorcycling mates, and I was told about this place, so thought we'd give it a try...

Called in today for the first time and found a really lovely welcoming atmosphere. We sat downstairs but there were other tables upstairs and it was great to see how busy it was. There were constantly people dropping in for both sit down and take away food and coffee. The coffee is great as were the toasted teacakes. The cakes looked lovely too. Friendly helpful staff and not at all over priced. Lovely to have places like this in small villages and seeing them so well used, which is due to the way it is run I have no doubt. Great use for an existing building. Will be back thank you ☕️

Having visited here a few times now felt I needed to leave a review to say how brilliant the side house is. From the friendly and welcoming staff/owners to the lovely decor and most importantly delicious food! They also offer a take out service.

My dad has been saying for weeks he wanted to take us to the 'new coffee shop next to the village hall'. Honestly, having lived in Claypole for more than 20 years my sister and I didn't expect much - we thought it'd be a twee little tea room. We were so wrong!

I saw the side house in an article in the Newark Advertiser so had to visit as I used to live in the house many years ago.

Came for a breakfast sandwich and latte.. Amazing food and very friendly staff. I travel all over the country and by far the best Bacon and sausage in the UK. Looking forward to visit again

Our second visit to The Side House. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, great food and coffee - what more could I ask for. I’ll be back....
