Nice little pub next to a good walk. Very traditional and the food is as you'd expect in a Cheshire pub. Tasty food and a relatively small but well catered menu. Nice atmosphere and it's a dog friendly pub with inside and outside seating area. The atmosphere is lovely, it can get a little loud, but no more than is to be expected in a pub/dining establishment.

Lovely meal including that increasing rarity of British pub food - a steak and ale pie that's actually a pie, not a stew with a dessicated pastry lid on top that explodes when you touch it. Service was friendly, polite, but just a little slow.

Me and my partner was recommended the ship by a few family members and friends so we thought we would give it ago even as we are not from around styl, we also asked our friend to come with. Firstly as we arrived, we had booked a table in advance and nobody was there to greet or take us to a table, we had to find our own table and ask to sit there. We decided to sit outside. Second we waited to order drinks in which was a short time before being served, the only good time in the 2 hours we had been here. Ordering food on the other hand was ridiculous, we waited around half an hour for the waiter to come and take our order. Yes Sunday you would think they are busy but there was 3/4 waiters walking around not looking to be doing anything. Eventually we called the waiter over to take the order.. fine. Thirdly as a chef myself I am aware on food produce and prices. Feta starter sounded lovely so I ordered, around 20 minutes later it arrived as 3 small cubes of feta cheese, a few pomegranate seeds 1 small cherry tomato in half and no sign of honey. False advertisement clearly and definitely not worth £8. Anyways 2 mouthfuls of that later we had finished and also the 2 small tacos which my boyfriend had was also not worth £8 each. We then waited for starter plates to be cleared for around 20 minutes (Horrific customer service) Then eventually my boyfriend told the waitress to take the plates away as we was starving! Then the main courses around 40 minutes later after the starters eventually came and I was shocked to see as I ordered a mixed Sunday roast that the pork meat was a pork scratching, the beef was so so dry as was the roasties. The gravy was not a hearty gravy just a bistro and water job. Very disappointed. I understand as I usually work Sundays myself (this being a day off in a long time) in my place of work it does get tiring and it is a long day of repetitive orders I do understand, but to get to half 4 and this be the food you provide it’s not good. Overall I wouldn’t recommended, and I was really looking forward to it. Shocking customer service and very dry food.

A truly lovely experience at The Ship. We were greeted by THE loveliest member of staff, Izzy, who made us feel so welcome. She helped us pick our options and they did not disappoint. The fish from the fish and chips melted in your mouth and my partner loved his steak and ale pie. It's such a cosy atmosphere and beautifully decorated. Izzy absolutely matched my sense of humour and had us giggling and leaving with the biggest smile on our faces. Thank you so much for a lovely meal and experience :)

Really great pub / restaurant. Food was delicious and had a fine pint of Cheshire Cat. Although it was Easter Monday, and the place was busy, the staff did a fine job to look after us. If you’d like to experience the worst customer service possible then this place is for you, I dined here with 3 family members 2 Sundays ago and received the worst service I’ve ever experienced, we were literally ignored all night from the second we arrived, 30 minutes after being seated nobody had even come to take a drinks order, we had to get up and go looking for someone every single time we wanted to order the next course or even to ask for the plates to be taken away, even after clearly seeing we had got up on several occasions it didn’t occur to anyone that somebody should come round there and start serving, nor was an apology offered, to top it off the food wasn’t up to scratch, the beef on the roast was very fatty, roast potatoes were burned aswell as some other issues, we didn’t even have chance to complain as nobody ever came to the table, we ended up paying the bill on the way out, overall a terrible experience but to make it even worse i received an email asking for feedback so I outlined these concerns and received a reply from Nicci who asked for my phone number and promised to call me to apologise and get to the bottom of the issue, it’s now 2 weeks later, I have received no phone call and I sent a follow up email 2 days ago which has been completely ignored, such a shame that the customer service has slipped to such a level as I have previously enjoyed meals here but it’s safe to say I will not be returning and wouldn’t recommend anybody else to.

The food is good. The car park is awful. You might get a fine from one of those faceless parking companies for using it. They are not staffed at all for serving people who are not eating; Infact they basically don't want you there when they are busy. We went on a Sunday, and it took 15 minutes to get served drinks at the bar, and we were later asked to leave the (unreserved) table as we weren't eating -"There are some nice tables outside" we were told. It's January! So, no. I will avoid this place from now on.

The food was lovely but nowhere near enough to class as a meal, we all left hungry. One roast potato on a Sunday roast, one fork full of vegetables and wafer thin meat smaller than a coaster. The only thing that was a good size was the Yorkshire pudding. Even my two year old son finished the whole of his children's meal and wanted more to eat after. We did give feedback that the portion size could have been bigger when asked how our meal was. I do not think I would return. Pub is in a nice setting but I cannot justify the cost for a meal that was not substantial. I wish I took a photo of how small the meals were.

I am giving 4 stars because one of the members of staff who served my friend and i was rather rude , We were booked in and the guy said "hurry up with the order we are busy" ... the booking told us about the 2 hour window we already know there is an allotted time , the person serving us just generally came off like he mentally clocked out for the weekend and did not want to be there .
