Our initial landing at the front pontoon was met with a small sign stating that narrow boats could not moor there. I was not sure why and you can't see the sign until you are on the pontoon, so that needs to be resolved as it appears unwelcome and impractical. Service, although a little slow was friendly enough and the carvery was excellent. We sat outside because it was unseasonably warm, where there was plenty of space but also lots of space inside. Beer was good and some reasonable vegetarian options for others in my party.

The Ship was until today one of our favourite places , especially when we have visitors . Today my husband and myself walked in and asked to sit at the window . We were abruptly told by a miserable bartender “NO”sit at a table for 2 ! It was 1.30 on a Wednesday afternoon and there were three other customers in the place. We walked out . Obviously doing so well you don’t need our money . Where are the happy cheery owners ? In the past always had such warm friendly welcomes your bartender is doing you no favours .

Very Poor. This was my favourite place to eat, have been many times in the past but how it has changed. We went there today for lunch and asked to sit by the window but was told we had to sit at a table for two. It wasn’t busy at all but the miserable bar person insisted. As a result we walked out. Glad they are doing so well that they don’t need our money. Will never set foot in the Ship again.

We used to visit regularly and the atmosphere, food and management were fantastic. Sadly a great change has taken over and it's so sad. Today we had lunch there. We said we'd like to sit by window and i was flabbergasted to be told 'cant sit there' as its to far away for waiting staff to take food. Most tables by entrance and by fire place were occupied and further from kitchen entrance. !!! Sadly due to the cold attitude of these two bar stfc we shall not be going again.

Stayed in Oxborough and visited here 3 times . The food is absolutely gorgeous . The chef goes above and beyond as we had a very fussy eater and he made her a tuna sandwich one night which she said was the best she had ever had . This place is to rave about . We visited The Ship at Brandon Creek and ordered paninis for lunch: chili chicken, and cheese and red onion. These were both served with a small garden salad and five or six crisps. The paninis were baguettes with an insulting meager amount of filling. I asked the surly bartender if he would be happy to be served these. His excruciating arrogant response was "We have been serving these all day and no one else has complained". He was exceptionally argumentative and clueless regarding how to speak with dissatisfied customers. The chef offered to add more cheese. We asked for and received a refund of £15.90. There was no comprehension of how on earth we could not be happy with what we received. There was no empathy or an apology from any of the three staff members present.

Style over substance The actual Inn is lovely in a beautiful location that’s where it stops Seafood platter is I reckon from the freezer, whitebait very strong and hard, really most of it was mainly batter, We also had loaded chips that were dark brown ( overcooked) soggy and the cheese on top was bright orange and slimy, when asked did we enjoy our food, I explained and it was obvious they were horrible as we had left them she could not apologise enough Every time I drive passed I’ve wanted to stop shame we stopped this time

Plates were removed and wasnt asked if the meal was okay and didn't offer if we would like anything else . We asked for the bill to find they had added more drinks that we had . Sadly it was an awful meal . And we wont be returning as it was over priced for what we recieved .

Arrived at 14:30 with my husband with the intention of having an afternoon there and then dinner because we used to love that spot and often stopped for a pint We got a pint each, for £10 in total, and my husband had to work a bit on his laptop before we could start treating ourselves with some nice wine and then dinner! He plugged his laptop into one of the numerous plugs in the room, and worked for 1h30, and just as he was about to order us a second round, a woman from the staff comes to us and announces we’re gonna have to pay extra because we’ve been charging a laptop for 1h30 and « You probably cost us more in electricity than what you’ve ordered » Just to be clear for everyone, a laptop charging for 8 hours equals to about 10p. And my husbands was charging for 1h30. When my husband tried to get more details about what we were asked to do, they eventually asked us to leave. Maybe we should have paid for the lights in the room too. Never going back there. Ever again.

We frequently drop in to The Ship for the joys of sitting on the riverbank in the sunshine and watching the boats go by with a pint in hand. We have always found it good, though it can be rammed. It's not often we visit on cold, dark winter nights. That may change after we booked, on a whim, their Valentine's night special. And yes, it was 'special'. Simply, the menu, and what was delivered from it, was of a standard you might expect from a self-proclaimed 'Gastro pub' whilst the prices weren't. You couldn't fault the service either. Fast and efficient. I chose Hake for the main course and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked and served on crushed potatoes. I notice too, that they do a very attractive deal for the over 60s at times during the week. Certainly, Friday lunchtime 'fish and chips' will be a goto for us in future.

Fantastic! Utterly fantastic! An oasis of fab food, great wine and TERRIFIC staff! We were still getting the hang of our narrowboat on our short break and the Ship had been heartily recommended. We even managed to moor without breaking anything...although we were very ready for a lunch when we got there! Worried that we'd arrived at lunchtime without a reservation - no problem at all! And ushered to a nice cool spot inside where we settled in an anxious heap (we'd never been narrowboating before and were QUITE the nervous wrecks!). Staff were so welcoming and easy-going - even tho' there were plenty of folk to serve both inside and out. Wonderful lunch - WONDERFUL - very tasty vegan burger and chips which I'd have eaten again if I'd had ANY space left in my (very expansive!) tummy. Another relaxing drink outdoors and we were on our way. Would definitely recommend as a spot for fantastic food and impeccable service from a really lovely team of people (We dined there lunchtime, Wednesday 22nd June 2023)

Beer is well kept, menu is "traditional" home cooked fare, the food is tasty, good quality ingredients, well prepared and reasonably priced. Service is excellent. The landlord & landlady are friendly and welcoming, and everything about the pub looks and feels clean, well kept and well managed. I guess that's why we keep going back! Don't get where the negative reviewers are coming from, we have been pleased each time we've been, but if boaters abuse the pub's private moorings then I would expect them to be told.
