Outstanding service from Ksenia. Our daughter dropped her drink and she came over and cleaned it no problem, also replacing it. This is what great customer service is all about, an increasingly rare attitude these days. This made our experience excellent and relaxed, and we will certainly return.

Friendly staff, nice drinks and a nice vibe in Ely’s Nero. No probs with finding a table to enjoy our drinks and food.

Nero coffee is very good but is let down by it's grubby dog friendly coffee shops. Most of the time ceramic cups aren't available and tables are full of previous customers cups and debris.

Always helpful especially if you're disabled, considerate, thoughtful, great bunch serving always a pleasure to go there. A few changes for the worse and often probs like no crockery or cutlery so paper cups and wood spoons not long enough to stir my coffee. Hope it is back to what it was soon. Really puts me off going

Never been to be honest tad expansive so I have been told

Without doubt the dirtiest Nero I’ve visited. I used to enjoy coming here and this was my first visit for a couple of years, sad to say it has deteriorated quite badly under what seems to be a different management team. I was surprised to find it so quiet at a lunchtime but it became evident there was probably a very good reason why it wasn’t as busy as it used to be. The place was filthy and, despite there being three staff and quiet, whenever a table was cleared none of them were wiped, not one table while I was in there! I wiped my own table with a small spray and tissue and it came away filthy. Moreover, you would not have wanted to put the spoon in your coffee, I doubt any dishwasher would have got that piece of cutlery clean. I am considering reporting this establishment to the environmental health department as I thought it was that bad. Wasn’t in the mood to complain or argue about it so left, we won’t be going back to this particular Nero.

Really nice place on the high street. Opens early, which is what we needed. Food was nice and the coffee was good. The place has a really nice atmosphere.

I am a regular at Nero’s visiting once or twice a week generally at weekends. I would love to visit and be greeted with a smile once in a while. The staff are either verging on rude or terrified. It is so frustrating as I like the general atmosphere especially if we manage to get a window seat. The food is also good as well as the coffee. I have read the comments about the toilet and when I have used them I have had no issues. People do need to realise other customers are responsible for the mess and perhaps people could be more considerate at how they leave the toilet. There are often lots of dirty cups on tables but I guess more staff need to be employed to ensure they are cleared without causing the long queues as staff try and clean and serve. Nero Management also need to sort out the air conditioning for the staff as this is adding to their misery and the customer who sits near the open doors during the cold weather is freezing. So in summary I like the atmosphere, the food and drinks but it would be great if the staff were more friendly.

Nationwide cafe chain shop, good brand of coffee with friendly staff. Comfortable armchair for reading books or spacious table for studying.

The usual lovely drinks, and staff all seem very good at Caffè Nero. It's a nice atmosphere, but it is rather noisy and echoey, with very little to soften or absorb sounds, which does mark the place down for me. Still, I'd recommend it overall.

I go to this cafe most frequently. I like the coffee and lemon cakes there and I also bought the recycling cup

A great location - loved my Decaff Americano. Overall a great location.

No room in any other cafe so we resorted to coming in here. Expensive cakes and pastries. The tea and latte were large though and nice and hot. The toilet was grubby and the loo roll was on the floor. Hand dryer didn't work. Dirty sink. It doesn't fill you with much confidence in kitchen hygiene when the toilet is dirty.

Always loved this one. Yesterday the staff were miserable and didn't communicate with customers. Just a smile and a good morning would be great.

Love the coffees in nero, and sat in with a Cappuccino. Service was quite quick, despite it being busy. However, because of 3 stars, most of the tables still had other peoples stuff on them and not getting cleared quick enough. Also, there was no available wifi as I hardly had network coverage in the area.

Never been in the place just walked past many times!

What a transformation! This store has really turned around since i gave my last review. The new manager and his team are polite, helpful and cheerful. The building now looks and smells clean. Unlike under the previous manager the floor is obviously cleaned regularly and no longer sticky to walk on. Most importantly it is a dog friendly store too!

Filthy, this place is disgusting, I would think it fairly easy to clean a coffee shop.

Visited Cafe Nero the floor as you go in is disgusting. Cobwebs on light shades. The door matt was full of dog hairs. I am a dog lover. The toilets were disgusting. Wee all over the floor, toilet paper all over the floor. No proper hand towels as dryer had packed up. About time you hired a cleaner.

Every time I come into this cafe the staff are rude and have an attitude. There are two women in particular that I always dread to see. Recently, I went in and saw that they offered a student discount. I set up my student account to get the discount (the lady called Daniela was already being rude and short with me). I showed her my discount to use, and she said she cant use it. I questioned why, as it clearly stated that it was valid for a whole year, so I should get 25% off drinks. She couldn’t explain why but just said it wasn’t working very rudely and didn’t suggest anything else. I know that staff are able to manually discount items on their tills, which I said, but she just denied it and said no. I’m not sure what her problem was but she was extremely blunt from the moment I walked in. In the end, I had to pay full price which defeats the point of a student discount in the first place. Awful atmosphere.

It's a chain café and feels like it. The staff weren't overly keen to be there but were polite enough. Service was a little slow with only one person serving whilst another two cleaned, causing a long queue to form. The food and drink is average but did what it needed to. You get what you expect really.

Best coffee in town. Barista coffee, perfect service awesome treats. What else to ask?

You local Nero. Coffee is great, service is great and a bit on the low end of savoury options.

Very busy when visited... Staff not helping long que by not communicating with each other. Order wrong and six drinks ordered did not arrive together. Cold inside due to Que Tables not cleared. Coffee bitter. Cake not the freshest. Customers had moved tables for respective groups but thus ment restricted mobility for others trying to get to tables.

No matter how long the queue, or how many staff they have on, they refuse to have more than one person making coffee.

Ruined by the dogs that were allowed to constantly bark and yelp.

I go here often, and my go to coffee is the Large Cappuccino. Overall the coffee is super good, tastes nice and sweet. The store inside is super calm, chill staff aswell, and majority of the times I go there, they leave me with a good impression on the store and the staff. Best coffee place to go.

We always love to come to Nero in Ely when we are meeting friends. Lovely and friendly staff

Served a hot chocolate that wasn't dairy free when I'm lactose intolerant and left me sick and really poorly for hours. The service was slow and deaf by the sounds of the it if they can't get my drink right.

We were looking for somewhere in Ely to have breakfast on Boxing Day. Only Starbucks and Cafe Nero were open. We don't usually use these large multinational coffee houses and now we know why !!! Cafe Nero were only serving croissants and teacakes so we had a toasted teacake. Very lightly toasted, hardly at all. Might as well not bothered !! My husband had a cappuccino and I had a black coffee. Horrible. The cappuccino was not very hot and tasted bitter. My black coffee was full to the brim in the cup and was served with the saucer swimming in coffee and was totally tasteless. I was amazed that somewhere like that could have such poor service and well below par quality food. Never again. We shall do what we normally do and look for the small independent coffee shops that always seem to give excellent quality service and will go the extra mile with the food they provide. We should have complained but left not finishing our meal. Travelled home and stopped at a McDonald's where the coffee was hot and delicious and cost half the price.

Went there after Xmas and only 2 staff to work for a long queue. Understand why slow. My hot chocolate tastes very nice, not too sweet!

Slow service, many tables covered in dirty crockery, clutter everywhere behind the counter, and the two staff didn't speak to each other *at all*. Bizarre experience in a usually good chain.

AVOID! There's an extremely rude lady that seems to always serve my friend and I. Despite her rudeness, we have always been mannerly and polite. Today, we said to this middle aged, brown haired lady that we were having our drinks to take away. However, she continued to make the drinks to have in. We clarified that we were taking away and that we weren't sure if we said (to be polite) and she responded very bluntly by saying 'well, you didn't. But it's fine', making us feel very uncomfortable as we could tell this bothered her an unreasonable amount. Once she finished the drinks, she became very passive aggressive and said to us : 'goodbye and have a lovely afternoon' in a very loud and sarcastic tone, then proceedee to wink at us. We will not be returning to this café nero as this is not the only time this lady has been so insolent. The time before she didn't explain how to use a voucher and became irritated that I didn't know how to use the stamps in conjunction when she didn't even explain how to do it. Once the transaction had completed, she explained how to do it, but came across very annoyed that I didn't know what to do, yet I was at a loss here as I was the one that lost money. Alternatively, if she had any decent customer service skills, she would have refunded the transaction and redone the order, so I could have used the voucher as anticipated, as I would have known how to use it as she'd explained at that point. Furthermore, the place is always dirty, it always has a bad atmosphere and this lady really ruins the vibe with her extremely condescending and discourteous presence.

Mozzarella and tomato melt very welcome in a brief stop on a 200 km ride. Staff filled my water bottle for free. Americano good but why so hot in an insulated cup, not everyone wants to wait for it to cool.

Way below the normal Cafe Nero standards. Unfortunately this venue is a meeting point for the local vagrants and barking dog owners. There was no management controll. In Ely there are much better refreshment options.

Lovely café with friendly staff. We were those annoying customers popping in only an hour before closing time but they didn't seem to mind. We treated ourselves to carrot cake and a blondie to go with a white americano and a blended latte. Great quality and prices compared to other well known franchises.

I like Nero coffee and the staff here are very pleasant etc. But, they have started to become pushy with upselling recently. I realise they have targets, but it's now becoming slightly annoying.

Sorry Caffe` Nero, coffee is great but your place down the High Street, Ely needs a good spring clean, and paint job. The entrance carpet needs replacing or one hell of a vacuum.

The cakes and the coffee are excellent. However, more effort is certainly required for improving the hygiene/clean standards in the seating area.

Tasty coffee, but on weekend - Saturday - at 3:00 p.m. was pretty busy, there was a relatively long and slowly moving/proceeding queue. There were seats available though both outside and inside. The drink was tasty otherwise and the atmosphere of the Caffe is cosy. Can only recommend!

Nice food but some of the members of staff, specifically the middle-aged woman with chin-length brown/black hair, was so rude! Very snarky and passive aggressive. Was somewhat enjoying my food after some rude customer service to hear the same member of staff shout "WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR RECIPT?" to an elderly women who asked this staff member to repeat themselves. It was so loud that the entire room went quiet. This completely ruined the 'positive' experience we had. As a disabled person, it hurts my heart to see someone who was potentially hard of hearing to be shouted at this rude and disrespectful way. Cafe Nero is rather expensive in comparison to some other coffee shops in Ely, I expect to feel a lot more comfortable than this when I spent £20 on a couple of drinks and some snacks.

Clearly everyone who mentions this person is talking about the same woman, she is so miserable and so rude. Clearly in the wrong place and wrong job. Dark long hair black shirt. It seems she cannot handle busy times and doesn't want to be there during quiet times. Both occasions I have been in there I have had the same experience. Other members of staff aren't as bad but still not overly friendly or happy. Maybe employ staff that have people skills or atleast can apply a smile to their customer facing roles.

The coffee was good but can't help thinking that I was just a burden to them closing up, even though they didn't actually close for another half an hour, they were very keen to get going and those pesky customers just get in the way, I must say the Bury St Edmunds branch is a lot more friendly

Such an attitude with one of the staff. We received a voucher from work that allowed us to get one free drink. We went in and double checked if we can get a drink. She had a moody, aggressive and unwelcoming attitude and tone. Really poor

Delicious coffee, my wife accidently had her cup knocked over. A member of staff instantly came over and cleared, she later brought at no extra cost a replacement cup. We could not have asked for better! 😎😃💙🇬🇧👍
