Somewhat out of the way, especially with a road closure. The landlady was very welcoming, but there was no food available on Saturday when we arrived at 2.00pm. The Red Lion was an old pub but clean and tidy. The rooms also were clean and tidy. The heat in the room was very bad and there was no way to cool it down a little, except for an overhead fan, and leaving the 2 small windows open all night. The passageway leading to some of the rooms had windows that would not open, so it was stifflingly hot. The shower facilities were fine and so was the tea and coffee, however the refreshments were of a poor quality. The beds were very hard and in one of them the springs could be felt. We had to pay for breakfast as an extra, and it was only served between 9.00 and 9.30. I have to say that this was not good value for money.

Stayed in twin room 14, one of the mattresses was not fit for purpose, the springs were digging in. Room was dated and tired with mould around shower. We told lady on checkout we were not happy with the mattress/bed and she just said she would tell the owner. We emailed to make sure the manager/owner would know in case the lady had not passed on our message, we did not get a reply to our email. I think if you are going to charge £80, you at least need a mattress that you can sleep on. Not happy!

Nice staff, good pub grub and nice clean rooms. Can only give 2 stars as we wanted breakfast but on arrival at the booked time, there were no staff and the main building was still locked. Had to leave and go elsewhere.

We don't expect frills, it's a pub. But it's clean, friendly, and happy with dogs. We visit Ely regularly and wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Easy parking, excellent street food at the visiting Friday food van, this week Japanese, and music. Clearly popular with the locals.

I stayed for luckily one short night. The room was slightly depressing with a broken shower head and a kettle from the 90s with rust init. They wouldn't serve breakfast before 8.30am, which meant I had to buy elsewhere due to work commitments. The bed was basic and not very comfortable. Based somewhere between here and nowhere, it's fair to say it's not on my list of up and coming holiday destinations.

The best fish n chip I’ve had for many years, only downfall is it’s cash only and that’s an inconvenience when the cash point isn’t working

Had a lovely pitstop here. Company was good too, they approved of their cattachino. Glad they let pets in, makes all the difference.

Shocking! Ordered two beef roasts. Waiter came out and told us there was only one so we had one chicken and one beef. Brought the roasts out but hadn’t brought cutlery out so left us sitting waiting w
