Food chicken very dry and the gammon was very salty being registered blind asked to order food was told to order at the bar same when tried to get a pint big disappointed from previous experience

Rough around the edges. Wouldn't have it any other way.

A real gem of a pub and well worth taking the time to visit. It’s pretty small and the live music throughout the night gives a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the oozes history and whether you’re on your own or in a group I’d highly recommend.

This was a superb pub for drinking, with a throwback style contributed by the ceiling's designs and signs on the walls! The decorations on the ceiling are really nice, counter is well-presented too. I had a refreshing pint of Cruzcampo, sitting comfortably at a clean table!

Es la primera vez que visito este pub pero no será la última. Fue muy ocupado ser un viernes a la hora del almuerzo en diciembre, pero nos hicieron muy bienvenidos. Una de las camareras nos ayudó a encontrar una mesa. Pedimos cerdo y baguette de relleno. Vino con hermosas papas fritas de corte grueso y un hermoso plato de salsa para mojar. Todo fue agradable y caliente y no tuvimos que esperar mucho. No puedo esperar para llamar de nuevo. Gracias a todos y espero que tengáis una Navidad encantadora 🎅

Absolutely amazing traditional pub. What a find. The atmosphere was lovely. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. Lovely portion sizes and I was thrilled with the beautiful fish and home cooked chips . Highly recommend this place

Updated review. From 5 star to 1. went in today was blanked by staff who decided to serve group of lads completely ignoring me as though I didn't bloody exist. She didn't even bother to ask who was first so stepped over to the group. Walked out and spent my money elsewhere . No doubt you'll have a crappy excuse but I simply don't care and I vote with my feet. Pathetic and garbage service from amateurs.

Amazing place oldest pub in leeds .... lovely clean welcoming and the food was lovely ... after a long day shopping we went in for a bite to eat ordered homemade fish finger sandwiches and omg they were so good best we have ever had .... fish was freshly battered and fried chips were chunky proper home made... all the staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed... definitely recommend and will be going again.

Proper boozer in the centre of town. One of Leeds authentic alley pubs. Fine selection of well kept beers, polite and knowledgeable staff together with a friendly collection of customers make this a must visit.

This is such a beautiful place, what they've done here is amazing. We didn't stay for any drink or food, but we were admiring it from the outside. The entrance is spectacular with lots of beautiful flowers. And it's definitely Leeds hidden treasure. We promise will be back for a drink and food another time.

Advertised as having lots of real ales on however walked in to a bar with plenty of pumps advertised to be told none of the ales on. Shame as looked a nice pub but went somewhere that followed up with their advertisement.

Great bar a very traditional pub always go when in Leeds, definitely worth a visit, tables in alley for vapers and smokers.

Lovely quaint ambience, music and bit loud but we got used to it! Bar assistant was lovely and on her own so very busy. Main disappointment was our lunch - extremely average but ok however took nearly an hour to arrive.

Every time I visit Leeds I've come to this restaurant as I love their pub food but today, an arrogant and extremely rude waitress, who boasts of having worked there 7 years, really spoilt our experience at this pub. I am still in shock how a simple misunderstanding with the order ended up with this ridiculous behaviour, shouting and swearing to us in front of all the other customers. She made absolutely no effort to make ammends, let alone apologise. Worst waitress in the world. Congratulations

The barmaid who served me was ignorant so I only stayed for one beer

Used to be a regular haunt 20 something years ago, started calling in again occasionally for a post work drink and happily nothing much has changed. Still a traditional feel about the place and always a good atmosphere.

I make an effort every time I'm in Leeds to go here. Its a lovely place, a bit small but cosy. The food is very reasonably priced and very..very nice.. and always a good selection of beer.

Came here with a decent sized group on a Saturday and got served relatively quickly, found a place to stand and had a blast! Thanks to the team there for making us feel welcome :)

A quick pit stop at the ship Inn...hasn't changed since last went in over 20 years ago...and after enquiring allowed to fetch our three year old grandson in..really surprised..but extremely grateful...only there for about 15 minutes..beer on for and reasonably priced

Main port of call when visiting Leeds.

There are several good pubs tucked away down snickleways off Briggate so keep your eyes open. Whitelocks was rammed and The Angel had no real ale so we popped in here. Only been once before. There were 4 real ales available on a bank of six handpumps. It had been a busy day with Leeds Gay parade. Paulicarus chose a Greene King golden ale. Very pleasant. This is a traditional pub with lots of dark wood and leather bench seating. There is some outside seating in the alleyway.

Hidden away down a little alley, superb city centre pub. The Timothy Taylor's Landlord was excellent.

We found this pub by accident. Friendly staff, the drinks are not over priced and the hand pulled beer is spot on. See you all again soon. Regards Mark

Really quaint compact pub, with loads of history- easily missed down the ginnel! Good range of beers, gins, spirits, mini prosecco etc. Dusn eat there but the menu looked good and the food on the two tables nearby smelt and looked really tasty.

Very good food, homemade, we had a wonderful all day breakfast.

Come through from York September 2022 and the pies were so nice that we had to call in again on our next visit. Just as nice as last time and no doubt they will be the next time and the time after that. See you again soon. Cheers Nick and Angie

Seen this pub many times when visiting Leeds so we decided to give it a try, nicely tucked away busy with drinkers but we ordered 2 steak pies chips and peas, it was tasty what there was of it but 8 chips, the plate was big so the food looked lonely it filled the plate a bit more when you poured the steak pie from the small dish, you could order more chips for £3.50 but that would work out just less than 45p a chip so didnt bother. Weve tried it but will go elsewhere next time.

We only had drinks, but we had a lovely experience. The barmaid was friendly and helpful, and she attended to our needs without hesitation. Very reasonable prices. Will definitely visit again.

We called in yesterday evening just for a drink.Lovely atmosphere,all Covid rules adhered to.But the best thing for us was the barmaid.So sorry I forgot her name(Yvonne?)That lady was amazing! All the other bars we went in had someone behind the bar,also someone taking orders & serving the drinks.Not here,that lady did everything herself & may I add always had a smile for everyone.Well done,we will definitely be back next time we are in Town.

Mi esposa y yo vinimos a cenar aquí cuando llegamos a Leeds y me alegro de haberlo hecho, el personal es muy amable y acogedor, es solo un pub pequeño pero pedimos un sándwich de atún y papas fritas y fue muy bueno y no caro y las bebidas también eran buenas, definitivamente recomendaríamos este lugar y volveremos cuando estemos en leeds

Another of of regular stops when we visit Leeds. Just managed another visit before lockdown. We called in for a few drinks and a snack while having a stroll. Great choice of food and drinks. The chips are amazing! Definitely worth a visit.

Heard the music and spoted The Ship Pub so decided to call in for a pint. It was very busy serving food although we didnt eat food looked really good proper chunky chips. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good location centre of town. Very old pub with a lot of history to it. Well worth a visit.

Called in here for some lunch and had awesome fish and chips, it really was delicious! My husband opted for a hot sandwich with chips,which i might add are bloody fab chips! The value for money is unbelievable compared to other eating places in Leeds, proper tasty pub grub it is. The service was great too, the young man behind the bar was very efficient and friendly.....go peeps,you won’t be disappointed.

Don't....just don't! We went in The Ship Inn last night after a very splendid evening watching The Interrupters at the O2 Academy. No sooner had we walked in, a man - who was stood at the bar - was knocked unconscious in a savage attack. The police were called, who promptly asked us for ID and took our details. We explained to the police that it had nothing to do with us and pleaded with the bar staff to explain to the police that we were not involved in the incident. The bar staff, who clearly saw the incident and therefore knew it had nothing to do with us, refused to help, which resulted in us being wrongly suspected in the incident. I was extremely disappointed with the staff and found them very unhelpful in what was a stressful incident. There are far better places for a night out in Leeds. If you want a cheap pint, in a nice relaxed atmosphere, then go to the Angel which is next door.

Encontré este pequeño lugar, escondido en un callejón lateral de la ciudad de Leeds, hace unos años. Es asador y aserrín, pero el personal es genial, los precios son buenos y la comida es excelente. El mejor chip butty del mundo. Es imprescindible para todos los visitantes. Soy un visitante habitual aquí cuando estoy en la ciudad, ya que también sirve una buena pinta de Johns.

Me encontré con esto por casualidad y me alegro de haberlo hecho está en un pequeño pub de la antigua y antigua taberna con comida casera. Tenía un sándwich de carne de res. Su hija tenía un sándwich de cerdo caliente y mi amigo tenía papa con chile. Todos dijimos que era delicioso y que valía la pena. el dinero, el personal era muy servicial y amable, una pequeña joya de lugar

Walk down a small alley and you come across the Ship. It's not huge but stretches right back with an area up a step. Tuesday was open mic night and there was plenty of patrons willing to have a go. A good selection of real ales.

While my wife was shopping I sat and read my book in this very cosy backstreet pub. Food looked great but did not sample it. Food served between 12-3pm. Good choice of beers.

El barco se encuentra en un estrecho pasillo en Briggate. Antiguo pub tradicional. Aunque me decepcionó que no tuvieran un almuerzo de domingo en el menú, sí que tenían panceta con salsa de puré y sidra en el tablero de especialidades - ¡fue maravilloso! Servicio amable y eficiente. A un precio razonable. Lo único que faltaba era un poco de chisporrotear con el vientre de cerdo. Un gran almuerzo de domingo en el centro de la ciudad de Leeds.

Nice friendly pub, seems a good one for the locals always call in when out in Leeds,it’s better than a lot of these fancy bars that keep springing up. Worth a visit if you like the old traditional style boozer.

Not sure if this is the only entrance but you have to go along a narrow alleyway into this really old pub, the sign outside states established 1755. Its not large at all and upon arrival it was fairly full, great atmosphere and it was great to have a few beers here so it was well worth a visit. I nearly forgot the staff, excellent, how could I miss them. The tick boxes below are going to be hard to measure as we were only here for the beer and didnt take much notice of the rest.The prices were good and the draught beer was even better. I was drinking 'Ship Ale' toffee not fruit, oh my, lovely. If you like small pubs with character then give this a go whilst the girls go shopping - sorted.

Having lived abroad and out of the area for such a long time, I wondered if like many city centre pubs, the Ship had been devastated by modernisation.

Called in to the Ship recently, fine old establishment,in the middle of town,Friday lunch was the aim, I had the home made steak & ale pie and rustic chips my companion had chicken wonderful topped off with a pint of Timothy Taylor ale!

Nice atmosphere, fairly cosy pub with simple food done well. Nice selection of beers too. Fish finger sandwiches with home made chips are very good. Get there early if you want to sit down as this pub is very popular and not very large.

The Ship Inn es un pequeño gran pub, escondido en un callejón en el centro de la ciudad de Leeds. Una vez dentro, no podría estar más lejos de las tiendas modernas.

Conocí a la familia aquí el viernes por la noche antes de ir a iluminar Leeds. El pub nunca parece cambiar (afortunadamente) y como sigue siendo tradicional! Estaba ocupado a las 5 en punto cuando llegué, pero fue servido rápidamente.

Podría felizmente pasar todo mi fin de semana aquí. Primera vez en Leeds y con 3 horas para matarme y mi madre decidió que ya habíamos caminado lo suficiente. Así que entramos aquí. Muy buen pub. Solo mi tipo de lugar. Montones de personal también. Gran cerveza. Días felices.
