A cosy gem in the heart of the community, the Ship Inn is the perfect spot for a relaxed evening out. Last night,we had the pleasure of enjoying their homemade Scotch egg which was an absolute standout – beautifully seasoned, with the perfect balance of crispy coating and tender sausage meat. Paired with a tangy homemade tomato dip, it was the ultimate comfort food, elevated by the pub’s warm, welcoming atmosphere. To top it off, the homemade crème brûlée was a true indulgence. The creamy custard beneath the crisp, caramelised sugar shell was a perfect end to the meal, and you could tell it was made with care. The Ship Inn offers a fantastic blend of hearty pub classics and thoughtful touches that make every visit feel special. The menu is interesting if you like chilli for starters. The main menu is a pleasant surprise of fresh cooked pub meals. Sevice was prompt and attentive without being too intrusive. A pleasurable experience we will be returning.

Great pub, good atmosphere and well attended. They even serve coffee with cream when you've had your alcohol limit 😋

A short visit. Clearly a popular pub. One swift Guinness was enough, a little too loud for us oldies.

Food was lovely, service was appalling, there was 12 of us having a Christmas work doo, we didnt get our 1st drink till we had frinshed eating, over the night we ordered 2 drinks and no waitress even bothered to check if we was ok and if we wanted anything. Would never recommend nor will any of us be back!

I have visited The Ship on a number of occasions fabulous cosy tradition pub lovely helpful staff and good food the quality is consistent on each visit great puddings and reasonably priced

A nice casual and elaxed atmosphere for a Sunday Lunch. Staff were very nice and quick to correct a couple of issues. Would definitely go back, my mum said it's the best roast she's had out at a restaurant and she cooks a good roast herself!

We came to a Soul night event and it was very well run. The West African food was very good. Very nice pub with garden .

My wife and I had the Steak and Ale Pie. Came with peas and either chips (thick cut fries if you Stateside) or mash, and gravy. Delicious. Good portions. Nice setting. Lovely quaint English Country Pub. Good beer too. I had Proper Job IPA off the pump. Proper beer. We were served by Lana and Elly. Very welcoming and good humoured. We were looked after well.

Great food, very attentive staff and the menu is also very varied with a good choice and generous portions. Each time I’ve been, the menu has always been different. Daughter has peanut allergy but we felt confident in the staffs handling and controls.

3 of us went for lunch and had very good meals. I had a fish finger sandwich and others had jacket potatoes. Great service at the table and well priced.

This is really nice pub, plenty of room for eating guests but still feels small and cozy. Good selection of beer and nice atmospheres. Deffenetly gonna revisit when kitchen is open.

I had the roast beef ,which came with crispy roasties and a lovely variety of fresh vegetables and of course a yorkie pud, at a smidge under £20 not the cheapest, but certainly one of the best.I had a starter and a glass of red and with service charge just over £40.

Ate here last night, excellent food & service to match, definitely recommend the pork belly

Regularly go here for roast dinners, and a great place for functions and events. Best food in the area and staff are always nice.

2 of us came here for lunch on a weekday. It’s a gorgeous Gastro Pub with a stunning Orangery and outdoor seating. We sat in the bar area where there was a lovely traditional fireplace. The staff were super friendly and attentive, the food was superb. The calamari was so light and crispy, one the best I’ve ever has. The Paella was also delicious, and such a generous portion! I had to take away the rest! Definitely coming back here again for a drink or lunch/dinner.

My son and daughter inlaw had their after wedding ceremony in the private room. Attention to detail was perfect, service and food amazing. Nothing was to much trouble. Thank you

Came here for an evening meal with family. The service was excellent and the staff were lovely. The food was delicious and there was a good choice of dishes on the menu. The pub had a nice cosy feel to it and I like the location.

Went and had the Burns Night menu- absolutely delicious. Good selection to choose from. We had haggis to start and Beef Wellington main. Couldn't decide on dessert so had all three between the two of us with a wiskey aswell. Gentle Scottish themed music was a lovely touch. Thanks to Alisha and all the staff - always welcoming. Lastly, the biggest thank you goes to the chef who always cooks the beautifully presented meals.

I made an enquiry with Emma a few months ago to see if she could accommodate 30 of us in The Orangery for my son's 30th birthday meal. We were liasing for a few months with numbers etc and Emma kindly arranged to do a set menu for all the guests and was even mindful of the fact we had some vegetarians and Gluten Free people. The evening was a great success this Saturday. Many guests had never been before and were impressed with the quality of the food and efficiency and friendliness of all the staff involved. They couldnt have been more helpful. Thank you again to everybody for such a wonderful night.

Booked a table at very short notice. Very friendly staff, food quality is of a high standard compared to other pubs I've visited. One downside was there wasn't an inside table available so had to opt for outside, Luckily the sun was shining. Didn't mind that too much actually, Didn't have long to wait for food after ordering, arrived on hot plates and food was fresh. Second downside was they had a wake party arrive during my meal and was invaded by the party to the point where we guests were standing over us and it spoiled the atmosphere for normal guests. Even tho they had their own area to reminisce etc.. We left shortly after.

Went there for Sunday roast. Their beetroot wellington is one of the best vegetarian roasts I've had. The chicken roast was soft and tender. The mushroom on garlic bread was delicious too.

A wonderful venue, my friends and I have enjoyed coming here, good food great staff, looking forward to the next visit.

It was our work party. We were in a very small room. I felt extremely claustrophobic. Drinks and service were really good. Didn't have any food.

Incredible little gem that we found by accident almost, as we were trying to escape the traffic on the A2. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. Will be returning next time we're in the area.

We visited for a Thursday lunch. We have one child with a variety of severe allergies and even though they do try and cater for allergies they kindly allowed us to bring food for him so he could be out with his family. They were very kind. Service was excellent. Food was excellent I enjoyed the burger, my mother loved the gammon and my father loved the pie. Well cooked and delicious. We ate in the restaurant section on a sunny day which was a little hot due to the glass roof. The staff kindly made a more shady table extended for us and opened the patio door. I would recommend. Edit: forgot to mention that this pub is very old and therefore full of charm and the surrounding Tudor buildings are original and make a nice setting. We took a wander round the nearby Norman church which was lovely

Brilliant Sunday Roast today at The Ship. The food was delicious, the service was so attentive. Great atmosphere, couldn't fault it.

Had a pre Christmas lunch with family at the begining of December it was absolutley first class. So good infact I rebooked for a treat for Christmas Eve.Sadly the experience was not repeated . I presume it was a different chef on duty that day and little things were missing the soup that I had raved about was thick and gloopy the special bread was changed The roast was plentiful but the red wine jus was just gravy and lacked some finesse . The rhubarb and ginger crumble lacked both ginger and crumble. I promise I am not moaning for the sake of it but it just goes to show you can not always rely on everything being repeated to the same standard

Super pub food! New Years Day with the family, had the roast special. Fantastic service (which is so rare post covid!) food was superb and price was fair!! Excellent!! We all want to go back :0) well done to the owners of this pub!!!

From the moment you walk in this Inn it just feels right a good mix of locals and non locals..the restaurant area well decorated and comfortable seating,, a good selection of food on the menu.. the olives on the table were fresh crisp and the mains were hot,, and full of flavour from the chips to the salad dressing,, this place must be visited,, the staff great ..

Booked a table for 13 and everyone really enjoyed their meals. We were in the private room which was perfect as we had little ones with us so kept us self contained! All of the staff were really friendly and helpful.
