We came in for a family meal this evening. We've eaten here before and knew we'd get a nice tasty dinner in a pleasant relaxed environment with helpful, friendly and unobtrusive staff. We weren't disappointed. Between us we ordered 2 lots of dirty loaded fries, 2 lots of steak and ale pies and a fish and chips. All a good size and delicious. Also want to comment on how well kept the ales are. We had a Proper Job and a Jail Ale and both were spot on. Thanks for a lovely meal.

Were busy (fair enough) but they sat us down and gave us a menu. When we went to order, said we’d have to wait 15 minutes because the kitchen was busy. 15 minutes later said we couldn’t order but blamed us saying it’s because we didn’t book. Would have accepted that no problem if they hadn’t sat us down with menus in the first place and then obviously told us to wait another 15 minutes. Not ideal when we had two kids to feed - didn’t apologise to my wife which I found quite poor customer service. Of course - apologised to me when I made a fuss, hate it when people do that!

Great entertainment last night with Company B. Good seating in the garden on a lovely evening. I had a lasgne - in house, with salad and chips - the 2 sides were fine, but the lasgne was disappointing. It seemed like a barely-cooked spaghetti sauce complete with veggies, thrown into a dish with pasta and cheese placed on top and microwaved for it to melt. Quite disappointing. Others also felt the chips for their meals were below standard for restsurant food. The staff were very accommadating and courteous. The food was the only let down in an enjoyable evening. We will return but not for the food.

Whilst staying locally, we attended The Ship Inn as they were hosting a Shanty Festival. We didn't expect for them to be able to cater for my coeliac daughter but after speaking directly with the chef we were pleasantly surprised to find they had GF options on their menu, had separate fryers and a good understanding of cross contamination. We ordered a kids fish and chips for my daughter and GF egg, ham and chips for myself whilst my husband opted for a hot dog from the barbeque outside. They did let us know that their sauces weren't considered safe for coeliacs and this further reassured us they would do what they can to keep our daughter safe. Food came out promptly and was good quality for the cost. Very happy. We did attend at a time of very high demand so queues were very long and newer members of staff seemed to be struggling but nevertheless we all have to start somewhere. All in all we were thrilled with our visit and the entertainment was top notch! Excellent venue with a very nice outdoor space. And a small play area for the kids.

Loved the outside bar where you can order food and drinks without having to wait at the main inside area. Even the upper floor with balcony was a great addition. Big car park, very safe kids area & even the added bonus of a stage area - where live bands etc perform. Plenty of under cover booths to sit and relax as well as garden tables. My partner had the chicken & bacon roll with fries. When it came the fries were heavily coated with salt. ( They were even too salty for me.) He told 2 waiters he couldn't eat them because he has blood pressure and was advised not to eat a lot of salt, waiters said they would mention this ! He also told the bar person and same reply. We bought lunch & 6 pints of lager so we spent quite a bit of money. When leaving my partner saw the chef and relaid the issue, he said he would do some more, this was 2 hours later and we were leaving. Condiments were on the table so please in future let customers add their own salt. the amount was too much for

Dropped in for an evening meal. The pub gardens are great, with lots of different areas and booths, etc. Drinks were great. Food was a bit of a disappointment. We chose steak pie, which was overcooked to the point of burnt, and contained some pretty awful fatty meat; not steak by any means. Companions burger was OK, but a bit dull. I was campervsn camping so the facilities are basic. Just a parking place and the outside toilets are left open 24 hours. The pub serves good beers and the food is pub standard but reasonable value for money. One minus is typical for many pubs....the tables are always sticky! I saw the waiter clean them but still anything on the table just clings. It's horrible.i could barely peel a beer mat off! A minor gripe though. The pub is about 300 metres from Par sands which is a fantastic sandy cove with cliff walks. The bay is clearly a fantastic kite surfing location as there were some incredible displays on what was a rough and windy sea!

Delighted to find The Ship Inn now offers superb breakfasts, becoming the new favourite 'go to' after the closure of our previous regular venue. Excellent value and a beautifully cooked grill selection from quality ingredients, the vegetarian options are just as tasty as the regular full English, along with excellent coffee on the menu. The staff and kitchen team are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and also operate a dog friendly policy for walkers. A beautifully appointed and well kept traditional style Cornish inn situated by the entrance to Par beach, The Ship Inn makes a fabulous setting for a delicious early breakfast with the chance for a good amble along the beach to work the pounds off afterwards. Excellent venue, fabulous food and great service all highly recommended.

Visited during the summer, nice beer garden but ordered a chicken & bacon sandwich and was presented with the sorriest excuse for a sandwich I've ever seen no chunks of bacon or chicken, just the thinnest spread of I don't know what on the cheapest, thin bread you can imagine, a few weeks later we went for the breakfast and heard someone complaining at the bar that the bread had mould on it. The pub itself has a lot of potential but the food is very average but the prices are not, greedy landlord syndrome to be honest. If you put as much effort into consistency and quality of the food you send out as you do Into your complete denial responses to negative reviews things might actually improve, Your consistent 1 and 2 star reviews speak volumes. Fine to visit for a pint, but look elsewhere for good atmosphere & good food

Going to do an honest review as I really do like this place, the staff are very attentive and friendly so no complaints there, a particular lady that served me at the bar was wonderful, my husband said she poured his pint of Guinness to perfection! We had booked a table for 1:30 but arrived earlier however this wasn’t a problem and we were seated immediately, no one brought menus over nor were there any on the table so we had to go get them at the bar which is absolutely fine I understand a lot of pubs do this differently depending on their type of table service. Most of us had the carvery which had a lot of nice options and was a great size for the price. The beef was a little dry, possibly due to having already been carved and sat on the hot plate, instead of being carved just before serving, the gammon however was cooked to perfection, very moist and full of flavour. The stuffing was quite dry also, really lovely flavour just a bit too solid for my tastes. All the veg on offer was fantastic especially the cauliflower cheese 👌🏻 only really the leeks I found a bit watery. Overall its in a great location with a fantastic beer garden, would definitely come here to eat again, perhaps off of the main menu as the choice was quite good!
