Great bar with great ales. The Stephanie and Phil are fantastic hosts. There are lots of local artists works on display in the many rooms, not to mention the open mic nights etc. All in all a great place for a pint. Highly recommended

Visited today with my little boy who has coeliac. The chef was great, came out and explained which options she could do gluten free and reassured me that everything will be sanitized and a separate fryer will be used. Highly recommend if someone has allergies. Lovely food, will be visiting again.

I love cooking at home but The Ship is my go to place for extra yummy, fresh and well cooked food when I'm going out for food. Feels like a proper restaurant but with the genuine friendliness of a true local.

A great pub this. The grub is really good ((the freckles are delicious!!) the prices are reasonable and the friendly staff go out of their way to help. A great overnight stop in our camper.

Absolutely the best place for a sunday dinner in this area. Matt serves the tastiest, filling and most beautiful sunday dinner. Worth every single penny. Definitely worth a visit for a treat to have a fab chef to cook for you. Staff also fabulous and very welcoming👍

Ordered takeaway from here, arrived on the dot and the food was hot and fresh, great taste and lovely mash potato.

My family and I would like to say a huge thank you to Chelsea for arranging and catering for my Uncles funeral buffet tea. The food was absolutely lovely and the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for We have also eaten here when visiting my late Uncle. We would definately recommend. Bobbed in to the ship a couple of times recently while visiting my family, and was really impressed. In recent years everything here seems to have kicked up a notch, the food was unbelievably good for what I always considered to be a standard UK country pub with no frills. Amazing stuff. The atmosphere is great too, there always seemed to be people in and I’m glad they’re doing well.

First part, food it was amazing some of the best fish and chips I've had in a while, although it took quite some time it was completely worth it, also the biscoff cheesecake I might have to say was the best cheesecake I've had period. It was well done and the taste and texture were top notch. While we were here (I don't know who) but a musician came in playing folk songs of all kinds and it was just amazing the perfect music for the type of place it is, it was hard to leave because we were all enjoying it so much. (Whoever this musician was your talent is amazing, thank you) the staff were all pleasant and welcoming even the people were nice and were there to have a good laugh All in all perfect place for a night 5/5 🌟

We held our Yearly summer family meal today and this is the 4th time The Ship has come through for us. We were a group 0f 20 people and 3 dogs today, and everything was worthy of 6 stars, but I can only give 5. Nothing was too much trouble, including accommodating a few dietary needs, a last minute addition to the group and a sausage each for the dogs. Thankyou to all the staff today, you are great.

For a pub, the food was excellent. Really impressed, the staff we're lovely,.really welcoming.friendly and attentive. The only reason for the 4 stars on the atmosphere is due to a few locals' unfriendly attitudes. Must say the rest were friendly.

Delicious food here!! (and I can’t recommend the wine enough). Karen and Dawn are the most fabulous people, the ship is echelons above regular pub grub, so many veggie options- not to mention they had to practically roll us out because of the generous portions 🤣❤️

Can tell you it's the best pub I've been too, the staff, especially the little mature lady. Was one of the nicest people I've met, I felt right at home. The food was delicious all round and everyone enjoyed it. I had the belly buster burger and it was just that, couldn't finish it but I'll definitely give it another attack. The chicken is top marks, better than KFC so crunchy! Loaded chips were great too. This pub is my go to every time we come down for the weekend getaway. See you in a couple of months

Trialed some dishes from the new menu launches today (12/06/24). I cannot complain about a single dish so far. As a someone who isn't a massive lover of fish dishes, I really enjoyed the fishcake. It had the perfect amount of fish flavour without being overpowering, the melting middle enhanced the many flavours. The garlic chicken schnitzel was great and it came with garlic chips and a garlic mayo which were to die for. After discovering fro-co meant frozen custard, we were very skeptical about the ice-cream being replaced by this BUT this turned out to actually be a stunning dessert option that didn't taste like custard (I hate custard) and was more flavoursome than vanilla ice-cream with a lovely texture. Looking forward to trying more of the new menu and as always being served by the lovely, friendly staff.

Brilliant pub with friendly and very welcoming staff. Delicious food, especially the desserts. Sitting area outside and a double decker party bus for the kids located at the side of the car park. For a small fee payed inside the pub the kids can have loads of fun.

What a find! We were looking for a place whilst visiting the area. It had to be able to accommodate a number of families and lots of children. We got there to find it had an onsite bus with soft play. Great! Then the food, we had ordered before we arrived. The food was delicious and portion sizes were hearty. The service and attention we got from the team who were on made us very welcome and were attentive. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Even when we asked for the toddlers food to come out. Definitely worth a visit!

Had the Sunday Roast Chicken, it was enormous and delicious, perfectly cooked, served with roast tatties, mash, a Yorkie and a selection of veg. Absolutely excellent and really good value for money. Can't recommend enough..

Food was great, really enjoyed it. I thought that the sharing nachos came with pulled pork or the chilli, but obviously not as I had been charged extra for the pulled pork on the side. It was quite busy with it being Sunday lunchtime with few free tables and a wait time for food of approx 30 mins. On the whole, would go back again if I was in the area.

Can not fault this place. Took my mum yesterday for a Sunday roast, they did everything they could to make sure we wer comfy and happy. The food is ridiculously nice. I would drink the tomato and basil soup in pints if I could. 10 out of 10 from all of the Avo family. See you soon

Great pub with lots of character and very friendly staff. Family-feel inside between all locals, staff, owners etc and pet friendly! Food was absolutely unreal, with a very comprehensive menu, catering to anyone. Been a few times and never been disappointed. Also a great spot to watch football, play pool, or darts. 10/10.

Visited for the first time as we've recently moved to the area, received the friendliest welcome and the most amazing burger I have ever had, bird and beast! Certainly not for the feint hearted, doggy bags are available but a week full of Christmas binging meant I was just about up to the challenge! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu, which is huge by the way! Thank you xx

We hadn’t visited for a while but the pub had changed with large screen TVs. The staff were friendly but seemed rushed off their feet. We didn’t eat there so can’t comment on that.

Food was amazing, rump steak was so tender, definitely recommend it.

Some of the best service from staff I've received in pub, lovely staff but also friendly locals with the pub having that true village pub feeling. Great selection of drinks, only place local to serve my personal favourite and a collection of thatchers on tap. Top food at a great price too.

Brilliant family run village pub. Lovely atmosphere and family friendly, has a soft play bus in the car park for kids. Nachos are insanely good, all of the food is great. Usually fast service and the staff are all friendly. Good for people living locally as has regular quiz/bingo/poker nights.

I have to say this restaraunt has the best food ive tasted since coming to england i had a chicken dinner it was absolutly amazing half a full size chicken that fell off the bone litraly the veg were so tender and soft potatosr out off this world sincerely the nicest meal ive ever had the pleasure to eat and as for the staff there very helpfull and polite AND THEY DELIVER!! Numerous visits and yet to have anything but a tasty, fresh and well-priced meal. We shall be back!

Loved the place and the ambiance but had a beer and ordered a pizza just under 11 quid for the pizza so I expect it to be ok. I was wrong cheap base with thick cheap cheese and tasted rubbish. Guts me to make this review as pub was nice with well presented beers but pizza was awful.

First visit here, turned up with my mate on our motorbikes looking for lunch. We were made very welcome. Excellent sandwich & delicious coffee. Definitely go back.

Arranged an 18th birthday lunch for 20 people for us, staff excellent, food very good well worth a visit.

The staff are all super friendly, the food tasted amazing and it was a really fun atmosphere. The decorations were also notably nice, especially the clock behind the bar! Overall great experience and would definitely recommend x

Amazing service I come up each year as live 4 hours away. Since the new ownership of the pub it has turned out to be some a homey and welcoming place!. The staff are amazing and would like to say a massive thank you to everyone. Especially Sam who made our time just more amazing. She went out of her way to make it better specially on my birthday!. The food is amazing. Its bright and open layout really brings the place together. Pool table upstairs with lots of seating with a big TV you can connect to to play music. Have lots of seats outside. The food is perfect and the drinks even better! I will always come back when ever I can! The atmosphere is warming and it's a great place to chill out and enjoy a beer! For the week I was up in Lancaster/Morecombe I spent pretty much everyday at the ship. And tbh now that I'm back down south. I miss it.. Would like to say a massive thank you to Sam you are a lovely person! And have made the place 100x better see you when I next come up! Love you all you are all amazing !

Good country style pub, very friendly and competent staff. Great menu with enough variety to please most people. We had Chicken parma; gammon and burger. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Will definitely return for a meal again and can see this venue go from strength to strength

We went for drinks and a meal on a Wednesday. Fairly quiet to start but got busier later for food.Lovely friendly staff ,nice food and a nice place.We even stayed over in our motorhome on the carpark 😄

Excellent country pub, service good, lovely staff

Staff were great, friendly, pleasant and helpful. It was a bit disorganised, we arrived at 13.30, board advertised food from 12.30, staff thought it was from 14.00 . Had a black pudding with blue cheese starter very tasty Ordered a garlic bread which was lovely thin light and crisp and not great. The main courses were not as good. Ordered a salad bowl which was 90% lettuce so not impressed with that, also ordered the last beef and onion pie, the beef was tough and some of the meat was actually inedible another disappointment Final meal ordered was a ploughman's it was enough for two and we took half of it home, masses of fresh bread with plenty of butter, lots of cheese and some nice slices of pork. I would have this again (for personal preference I would check what cheese were being served and I would ask if I could swap the blue cheese) 3 star review basis two disappointing mains.

Good beer. Lovely spot to sit outside, spacious, dogs (and ponies) welcome. Table service very friendly and efficient. Nice toilet facilities. Will be returning when food starts, but I expect it will be v popular.

Closed Mon and Tue, when we where there on Wed it wasnt open till 5pm so couldnt try lunch either. .
