Had a lovely Sunday roast with the family. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Great service and staff. Only one suggestion would be that the dinners are missing mashed potatoes. Deserts were fantastic as well 😊

I always get seen to by a lovely girl called Emma, nothing is ever to little or too much, not only is the food and atmosphere fantastic the service is exceptional

Fran delivered excellent customer service. She was a pleasure to be served by, a very happy and polite young lady.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the sight of a female kitchen worker leaning against a waste skip in her chef jacket while making a phone call (not great). We went inside and were met by a lovely young lady called Nieve who directed us to a table and gave us menus. We ordered 2 “dirty burgers” with chilli salt fries and a couple of kids meals, 3 soft drinks and a Moretti. All tasted great and were served in correct glassware, etc… There were a decent amount of guests and there was a nice background burble of chatter and laughter from the bar and dining area creating a nice atmosphere. When our food arrived, I pointed out that neither burger had chilli salt fries, and they were taken away and “fixed” by dumping a hefty tablespoon of seasoning over the top. Maybe the chips could have been quickly put on a bowl and tossed in the seasoning? Not just a “that’ll do” and throwing it over the top, it’s just lazy. The burgers themselves were overcooked and very dry and chewy, the mac and cheese on top was lukewarm and bland. Nieve came back to do a check back after a few minutes and we asked for the beef dripping gravy that was meant to come with our burgers, she came back from the kitchen full of apologies as they didn’t have any available (it was almost 2pm, kitchen should probably communicated this when food service started). Kids burger was also very dry, nuggets got a thumbs up though. Upon leaving, a group of people outside were also talking about how the chicken on those plate was “awful” and “dry as sticks”, so it looks like it wasn’t just us who were less than impressed. This is my second visit, and second bad experience with the quality of food on offer. There won’t be a third.

Great food and atmosohere. Called in for lunch and was made to feel welcome straight away and all through my stay by a lovely young lady called Nieve. Perfect service and food. We’ll defiantly be back

Just ordered a cottage pie with veg what a joke there must have had a spoonful of mince underneath the potatoes the veg a handful of cheap peas and green beans no carrots or broccoli then they served it on a wooden board my pet hate please use a plate my husband fish and chips were dry and hard he said fish was ok but the chips were awful then to top it all of we sat forty minutes all for this pleasure never again.

Weather was good so place was packed. Nice beer garden and park for kids out the back.

Had dinner at the ship and it was decent food. Plenty of space and a filling meal for a half decent price...

No atmosphere the place is so cold you need to wear you hat when you are sitting there added bonus is no food as kitchen is closed Happy Boxing Day just what we were looking forward too

I can’t believe we have just paid 45.00 for absolutely crap food it was my birthday as well they asked if it was a special occasion and nothing my husband is absolutely disgusted people stay away !!!

Lovely little venue came to host breakfast with the elves was amazing we all had a good time the staff are very nice and helpful and the coffee is great .

Pick a table - Any table, it doesn't matter..... Because all the tables are near enough empty apart from people drinking. Should have took this as a warning, that we were the only ones ordering food, but sadly didn't and ended up with ready meals served with under cooked chips. Could be an amazing place to eat if they had a chef or even someone who could cook, chips aren't that hard to do properly, come on!

We had a lovely afternoon at The Ship today! All the food was delicious, the staff could not have been lovelier and they were so welcoming to our little boy. They went to extra efforts to make sure his food was served just how he likes it and he absolutely loved his ice cream sundae! They were having a particularly busy spell when we arrived so food took a little while, but it was worth the wait and the service was great. Our new local. We’ll be back!

Great place to sit outside for a drink and food on a summer day. Food was decent but the price was good. It took quite a while to get the food brought out. Child and dog friendly. Could have sat there all day and watch the world go by to be fair.

Booked table for 4 but turned away as kitchen closed at 6 yet people sat outside eating. Online says kitchen specifically is open for another 2 and half hours.

There was 5 of us on Sunday 4 th august table 7. 2 of the group ordered steak and ale pie and weren’t impressed. My husband ordered fish and chips. The fish batter was burnt black. How a cook could be comfortable sending it out I can’t comprehend. I wanted to send it back but hubby didn’t want to make a fuss. Will NOT be back.

A lovely place, but under the impression everything is frozen, when asked if I could just have normal chips for my fussy son instead of skin on fries I was told no we don't have them I then said can you not just peel the skin off? "No we can't they are frozen" asked for a bread bun also they came out with 2 slices of rank bread as the buns were frozen and have to be toasted. Bit ridiculous for the price, burger was poor 2 3oz burger in a bun with chips for £13 they need to change their menu its poor, for the burger meal it shouldn't have been more than £9. Makes you think are most other pubs these days just cooking overpriced frozen food

Lovely afternoon having a few drinks sat outside

Went in with my partner. Her wine was nice but my pint of Landlord was tarty. A 'funday' was about to start so the thought of being surrounded by lots of screaming kids filled us with horror and we walked to the superior Engine Room up the road.

Great all round. Food and atmosphere was great as are the views. Just took a while for food to arrive. Draughts on tap we’re outstanding, one of the best line-ups around.

Didn't eat so can't comment on food but Sunday dinners have looked good. View is what I love here. Great on a dry day! Seem to remember that the children's play area is good too.

Went for a Sunday lunch and it was by far the worst I have had. Nothing fresh.will not be back for food although it was a nice pint.

Beautiful countryside pub, friendly staff and spotlessly clean throughout. Refurbished to a very high standard a couple of years ago and the staff and management have this place looking fantastic. Set on a hillside this pub has a great vista when sitting in the beer garden

Booked for Sunday teatime to be told @5.30 all food thrown away as they did not have my online booking despite email confirmation and that ovens on self clean so no food. 2 other walkins followed in same. Went previously to be told no rice for curry after it was served with chips and another item was not available after order was taken, so that came after everyone was finished. Used to be a good place but 2 other pubs nearby far more reliable and as good so won't be going back after at least 5 years patronage, even during COVID when we picked up take away.......

Staff were great. Friendly and helpful. Good selection of drinks. The food was great, cooked well and nicely plated. Family friendly, Dog friendly, loads of outside seating and tables. Lovely views of the countryside. I would recommend.

Got the this dog friendly pub which when they seen my dog oh god its white wouldn't let us sit at a normal table .and when what's the smell it's dog oh god from the staff never felt so uncomfortable in a please horrible people.

Great atmosphere, always plenty of dogs there. Service isnt the best, often only 1-2 people working bar and tables when busy

Amazing from start to finish .. we had our wedding event here and the food and service and hospitality of the staff was fantastic … nothing was too much trouble and they catered to our every needs … me being the nervous bride had no reason to worry it was a brilliant day … Thank you Penny & the team I highly recommend this place .. book your “do” here you will Not be disappointed x

Great place to go for all the family! Even the four legged ones!

Visited yesterday, my sister her dog, and Mother - we all ordered fish & chips, what came was batter and chips! Sadly very little fish on all three plates. Ordered and paid for a cup of tea for Mother, that never come, we had to ask the young lad who brought the meals out. I can honestly say, this was the worst fish & chips I've ever had! No one even came to ask how the meals were, which also surprised me. For £49 you need to up your game!!

It is a small and cosy place. Had a great time as they had Andrew Watkin on who is a great guitarist and singer. Great set of staff at the place. Didn't have food, so I will have to pop back sometime to give my opinion. Keep up the great work.

Worst customer service ever.. arrived at 1..4 adults and 1 toddler.. sat there for an hour n a half and and probably would be still sitting there had I not got up and asked where our food was.. my grandson was starving and getting really tired of just sitting there .. food arrived at 2.45 pork dinner with crackling and veg doesn't come with cracking and veg you have to ask for it.. Nice food when you finally get it but customer service let's it down ..

Good food and choice of beers. Lots of space outside for those dimmer days ahead. Dogs allowed inside on those cooler winter days.

I’d call in for a drink as it’s a nice pub but as a restaurant, I wouldn’t recommend the food. It was more like Asda cafe than home cooked

Absolutely love this place !! Such a lovely friendly Warm greeting from the lads behind the bar as Spon as you walk in your made to feel at home. The fire is always lit and the views over the fields are just lovely. There is so much to chose from the menu and having tried quite a lot of it I can say we've never been disappointed. Slightly more pricey than your average pub lunch however it is well worth the little extra cos the food is so so nice. The lads behind the bar deserve a nice tip as well they just make the whole experience even more enjoyable.

Stayed overnight in our motorhome, had a lovely meal, good portions. Staff were very friendly & service was quick. Asked if we could take food out to the Motorhome in the evening, which was no problem. Very good experience so will definitely come back

Lovely place and the staff were really friendly.

The staff are lovely friendly and helpful...and it's been busy each time . But her have been for Sunday lunch twice recently and all 4 have complained the food was luke warm . They did heat it and it was nice ....but come on ship Sunday dinners should be served hot.

Booked a table for 4 was nice and quiet when we arrived but noticed lots of tables had been reserved. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, lovely views from our table the valley. When we left it was getting busy so def book a table to avoid disappointment

Had my first mixed grill at this fabulous establishment. Very good quality of food, presentation, service and price. There is free parking and ample outdoor seating, including tables and the front, side, and rear. Plenty of indoor seating also. Beautiful interior. I will definitely be returning. Would of rather had chunky triple cooked chips but still very nice. Huge portion.

impressed by the starter fantastic so much looking forward to the main meal drinks were great then had to wait well over an hour for the main meal dry and disgusting covered in to much batter both meals chips dry food very poor what a let down

Highly recommend the mushroom on sourdough bread for the starter and, well, the cheese and bacon burger did not disappoint either as you can see by the great portions. First time here and it may be my favourite place in a long time. They allow doggos, have a nice big beer garden and plenty of parking. Loads of drinks to choose from as well. Just an all round lovely place but again, the mushroom and stilton on sourdough takes the win. Cannot recommend enough.

I'm sorry but had fish and chips today 24.6.23. It has to be the worst I've had for a pub meal, still trying to find the fish in a batter that was cooked in cement, it was as hard as bricks, it was over cooked, no flavour, more batter than the no fish content. could not eat it, the salt and vinegar took the bad fish ( if any ) taste away, told the service staff but they where not interested, might be a nice pub atmosphere but poor quality food, grandson and partner couldn't eat their burgers, the money paid for the food it was very poor quality...Sorry..

One star because disabled toilet not accessible friend helped navigate the step down but disabled toilet locked and staff unable to open. Had checked before going as my husband in wheelchair and unable to walk, we were having lunch with friends so very dissapointed to have to leave early because of this. Pointless having a disabled toilet if not accessible. Pity because food and service was good .

Oily onion rings Great views and selection of bar meals. Only disappointment was the onion rings. They were swimming in cooking oil when they arrived at the table. You could see the oil dropping off them when you lifted them out of the container. Looking inside the container you could see the oil on the bottom. All you could taste was the cooking oil

Really nice food and good friendly staff. Unfortunately the whole experience was spoiled by disabled access toilet facilities. After struggling to get a wheelchair down stairs to the toilet, the door wouldn't open. We had no other choice but to leave. Very disappointing

Friendly staff, good food, and sensible prices.

I ordered chicken caesar salad and and it was largely inedible due to the excessive amount of dressing the huge pieces of lettuce were coated in. It also came with a boiled egg that appeared to have been deep fried if that's possible. I was charged nearly £14 for that. My brothers ordered sausages with mash and Yorkshire pudding but neither got the Yorkshire pudding and the vegetarian sausages on one dish were cold. My sister and mum both had gammon. I know gammon is salty but it was so salty that neither of them could finish it. We will not be going back there for food.

Always a nice pint in the Ship. Always busy as the food has a good name (never eaten here myself)

Went tonight at 5,30pm for birthday food, Monday 10th April 2023, website said food served until 8pm, told chefs had gone home as it had been dead all day, we were the second couple to walk out won't be returning.

The beef was far too pink n red for my liking n the gravy left a greasy taste on my tongue. Vegetables were too close to being raw.

Good pub grub, hot and tasty, friendly atmosphere

First time eating here they served raw veg and it took an hour to arrive and was the wrong order. Tried again, putting it down to a one off. Ordered a takeaway which they didn’t have ready. Waited 15 minutes. Got it home and the meat and veg were fridge cold and again raw veg. £28 for 2 lunches, you should not have to cook it yourself. Disgusting food and service. Lesson learned!

Me and my family had booked a reservation for food and drinks last night to celebrate an anniversary and I couldn’t say anything bad about the place and the staff. A special shout out to lovely young blonde woman who dealt with our food. She done an amazing job and when I spoke to her about the crumble situation, she dealt with it with perfection and am delighted this pub has an amazing set of staff and I’ll definitely be back sometime soon. 10/10 recommend 👍🏻👍🏻
