Chicken fillets were good and not at all greasy. Scampi was tasty. Staff pleasant. The premises however is in a bit of a sorry state…. The floor in the waiting area doesn’t look like it’s been washed in weeks & I came out not only stinking of the usual fryer smell (to be expected) but a horrible musty, damp & dirty smell. The food was good but the overall appearance of the place means we definitely won’t be rushing back.

Wow this place has went right down hill sorry to say I am local I wished I didnt have to say that.... I got a chicken fillet supper which had a 2 x chicken fillets 1 x fish fillet and 1 x banana fillet yes a banana fritter as a chicken fillet. Will never go back I dont like surprises in my food all in the bin as I am not a great fan of fish. Maybe it was a mixed fry but I never asked for it.

This used to be a fantastic diner and chip shop. I’m not sure if the introduction of ridiculous opening hours (seriously; a take away that’s only open 5-8pm?!?!) and the shocking decline in quality has been duu it e to a change of ownership or something else but we absolutely won’t be back. My husband had a fish supper, the batter could have had the greasy rung out of it. I had a steak pie which looked and tasted like it had been microwaved. Such a disappointment for a former gem of a local eatery.

Had a fish supper and chicken breast . The fish was obviously frozen fish, tasted it right away and think the chicken was an old bird, tough and dry. Didn't enjoy it at all 😖

Dropped in past for a quick meal . Very large portions . The food is cooked to order which means it doesn't sit long . Tho this is your typical chipper food its a cut above the rest . Enjoyable

We stopped at the Sheiling Tor on our way home from Aberdeen. We both had fish suppers, one breaded haddock & one haddock in batter - I also had curry sauce. Both fish were cooked perfectly (Not over cooked) and the chips were hot and tasty. We will be stopping again in the future.

I've never been to a chippy that comes out light on the chips, £7.40 for fish is fine, but charging £3.50 for a portion of chips a kid would have found small isn't good enough. need to do better

I was disappointed the last time I used it and again when I tried it recently. Found the servers rude and the food choices need updating. Don't they realise people have food intolerences?

Ordered a £3.00 portion of chips to go along with our home cooked supper, paid an extra 50p through the app, bairn collected and paid by card at the shop. Was the soggiest chippy chips weve ever had, almost raw. We couldnt eat them. Wasnt going to say anything but i received an email to review and instead of a negative review i got the option to email you directly. Tried that option but your email address doesnt accept incoming emails so the email bounced back. So negative review it is

This Bistro is as good as it gets, there again last Saturday evening with friends and had an excellent dinner. Great starters of scallops & soup, lobster mains and one other main which escapes me, oh and managed a sweet, fabulous. A few drinks including a couple of bottles of wine, very. The sad news is, we were told it was closing permanently the following evening Sunday and it has, due to lack of business which is a terrible shame. We travelled all the way up from Laurencekirk picking up friends en-route as we have done in the past. It a shame an establishment like this have closed.
