What a great, proper, local pub in the heart of the West End. Independent brewery, reasonably priced, high-spirited clientele, super-friendly and cheerful staff. I WILL be back….

We stumbled cross this pub while in Soho and decided to give it a try as we felt like a quick pint. Service was great and value was reasonable for the area - pleasant atmosphere too so all in all quite a good place to stumble across. Would happily return.

Met with a group of friends at the Shaston Arms and we all had a brilliant night. Comfortable environment, plenty of seating inside and out. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful - and a great range of beers was available. I’ll definitely be visiting again and it’ll be a first choice for me as a meeting place with friends in London.

Lovely old building tucked down a side street full of other restaurants and bars. Staff were very welcoming despite no booking, and we enjoyed a quiet drink. Beer was reasonable - nothing special (limited to Badger Beers on cask) but perfectly pleasant.

Family rendezvous in Soho. Great place. Stocking Badger Beer and a good range of keg beers and lagers. Not big, but lots of nooks and crannies. Beer is well kept.

Was here on a warm summer night in August. Ordered drinks at bar inside the pub and then sat outside with drinks on one of the 2 tables outside the pub. Nice atmosphere. Well located just off Oxford Street area. Close to Soho restuarants and Piccadilly Circus. Good for couple of drinks with friends

The Shaston Arms is owned by Hall & Woodhouse an out of town Brewery so I called to sample a different Beer for a change . "Fursty Ferret" was my choice, an nice flavoursome Beer. A small Pub it was busy when I called on a Saturday night, probably good for a quieter Lunch. I shall return.

Great for a couple of drinks and a catch up. It is a small traditional pub and it does get busy on a Friday evening. That said the service was prompt and for a fairly basic pub the Rose wine was nice. Note - we didn't eat there so can't rate the food only the beverages.

Nice and cozy pub hidden in Soho. Different from the places you will find near Carnaby Street. Too little and crowded even on a Monday night. So my advice is to go early and try to get a table. Much nicer instead of standing up. Drinks of average quality.

I stumbled across this place with my Wife as we were very tired and needed a sit down. The place was very busy, but we did find a place to sit. I went to the bar and ordered a pint of "Amstel" and a large Diet Coke. The young girl behind the bar needs to be careful because if she was to smile I am sure that her face would crack. She was so miserable, people should not work in such an establishment if they cannot be bothered to give you a warm welcome with a smile on their face. As for the pub itself, it is a very quirky place of corridors and fireplaces.

Visited on a Sunny Wednesday evening so nearly everyone standing outside, all abit crowded really there's not a lot of space. The big advantage therefore was that the inside was comfortable. Grabbed a table at the back in the glass roofed bit, light and airy here and north facing so no sun. I could imagine that in the winter when the fires are lit this area must be nice and warm.Three Badger ales on, the First Call has to be one of the best session beers in England when served well and this is the case here. Maybe a Tanglefoot ale to finish the evening? There is background music but its fairly quiet so doesn't interfere with conversation. All in all a very realxed evening the time flew by and a few pints as well, thoroughly enjoyable, and less that 5 mins from Oxford Street.

What a jolly little pub.Walking around Soho I was looking for a place to plonk down, get a decent pint of beer and actually get a little work done. The Shaston Arms, tucked in an out of the way bit of the boarder between Soho and Carnaby Street, looked cute from the outside, and gazing in it was both inviting, have a few tables spare and wasn't packed. Just what I was looking for. So in I went. It's very much one of those more old time pubs that may have originally been converted from one or more small shops, it's all broken up into little sections, with some particularly low and narrow doorways. It was fun to spend the 2 mins walking around, yes it's small. bar staff were normally reserved and friendly at the same time. They had a few Badger beers from Dorset on hand pulled draft. All looked very promising, and descriptions were forthcoming when asked about them. Cost per pint was decent, under 4 pounds.I managed to grab a little cube all to myself. Damn, those things are uncomfortable, designed to seat 4, backs are vertically straight, you've less width than on an underground seat, the table is close in to you, and anyone sitting opposite you is going to have play games with you about where you knees all go. But for one person, this was great. So much better sitting in a pub of an evening with a lovely pint and working on your laptop than sitting in a crappy starbucks doing the same. The pub has an outdoor area on the street, some comfier chairs and all these nooks and crannies to camp in with friends. The place was busy, but not packed. The smoking ban in place for years now, to me, is a godsend and the whole evening slide past nicely as I sampled their other beers. Can totally recommend this place.

I used to visit ALL the time, but moving away from area haven't been here in a while. It's definitely better in summer as you can stand outside (and occasionally get shouted at) as inside its so small and cosy, so if you don't get a seat, then there's not even much room to stand as its so popular, it remains busy all night.Staff are generally nice enough, can be offish occasionally, but on the whole a friendly bunch and Sally is a great landlady, just don't stand outside the lines in the summertime!A definite place to visit, if you don't mind a tight squeeze

To my mind, it's what pubs should be like. I like the interior, which is separated in three zones I would say. Even if it's full almost every time I go there, I can't count haw many times I've been there. The bartenders are nice, the bear is also nice, especially this traditional one, that they suggested me. Really, very lovely place.
