The Sea Tree Ware in East Hertfordshire

My husband is Gluten Intolerant so fish & chips was never a choice for him. We recently went to Ware and he was please to be able to have gluten free batter. His words were the best fish & chips he’s had in years. One happy chap x

The staff were wonderful the waiting staff especially. We got a greeting and a goodbye as we left. The fish and chips were fresh. However, maybe we have been spoiled, but the batter was a bit too well done for us. We like batter lighter. The cod was white and fresh. Unfortunately the southern fried chicken although lovely came in a bun with mayonnaise and salad. My son wasn't expecting that and had to scrape it out. Great restaurant with lots of choices of fish. But not for us.

As someone with celiac disease, the guys behind the counter were fantastic with pointing out which foods were gluten free. It allowed us to order with confidence and enjoy our food worry free. We ordered for take away, food was ready promptly and handed to us with a smile. Well deserved 5 stars and will be returning! 😊

The best fish and chips by far in the whole of essex. Always quality and fresh food. Can never fault the service and great atmosphere. Thanks guys. Will definately be back

My family is new to the Hertford area and we needed somewhere that catered for GF.. this place is Brilliant and provides fresh and fantastic food..

Food was good, service good, prices on the high side. Coke was £2.50 for a can.

We loved our fish stew and skate wing. The fish was cooked in a flavoursome tomato sauce. The skate wing was perfectly pan fried, very easy to fillet. The salad was in a gorgdressing, and went exceptionally well with the skate.

Had dinner here very fresh food all hand made lovely starter & main course fish and chips portions more than enough great service you can see these guys pride themselves on what they serve recommended 👍

Really great gluten free fish and chips! Great gf calamari, the only reason the food is a 4 not 5 is because the chips weren't as good as they should have been. Either the oil wasn't hot enough or they weren't cooked long enough. Still an enjoyable meal.

3 blokes all as good as good great customer service. Great portion sizes especially the curry sauce pots and a great variety of fish all good value. 100% would come back.

I would urge anyone to try this little gem of a restaurant. Not only a traditional fish and chips but The best seafood around. The Fish Stew is absolutely out of this world and bursting with delicious seafood. I can personally say the Prawns, Calamari, Scallops and Mussel Starters are absolutely amazing. Well Worth a visit xx

I visited the sea tree ware with my son on Saturday the 10th of February. The afternoon/evening was well spent and I enjoyed every moment of it. The customer service was outstanding and the food was soooo tasty. Thank you so much to the team for delivering such a warm, caring and exclusive service. I will definitely be back!

My dear husband researched and found this gem. The batter on the fish was the best and my fish stew was delicious.

Had a takeaway from here for the first time the other day and it was fantastic. It's quite expensive compared to other fish and chips I've had but I guess you pay for quality. The fish was amazing, tasty and light batter, not greasy at all. Will be ordering from here again soon (maybe on payday 😆)

We enjoy the food here and pleased to have it gluten free. Really tasty and fresh though feel the large sizes of the fish and chips could be a bit larger when comparing to other places. Used to visit more regularly though due to the price for a family order it’s become less viable to go regularly.

The best fish and chips in the area. Bit ashamed, lived in Hertford for about 30 years and never realised you could sit down and eat it in this amazing little fish and chip shop. First class, I had plaice and chips with mushy peas. Welcoming and friendly service. Will definitely be back.

This was a great fish and chip restaurant. But sadly has now gone down hill. We had a take away tonight and the fish was so dry most of it went in the bin. I won’t be going back again.☹️😞

Myself and some friends had a meal here today and I can honestly say it was the best gluten free fish and chips I've ever had. Along with the food came a warm welcome on arrival and seen to our table. The service was very friendly. I would highly recommend 👌

Went out for a meal with my parents, food was fabulous and the staff were super welcoming. Being coeliac i felt very comfortable with how the food was prepared and overall the meal was extremely tasty and this was an all round great dining experience.

Lovely people just shame the chips are crispy, a classic fish and chip always has soft almost mushy chips but these are gross

My first time in UK and first time in the sea tree and YOU have to go. It’s the cute little spot with amazing food. The classic fish and chips is to die for. It was exceptional The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again if I can. They made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience.

Great fish and chips with an extensive gluten free menu. The gluten free batter was better than most chip shop's regular batter which meant I could happily share with my gluten intolerant partner. The Samphire, Mushy peas and tartare sauce were top notch also. The staff were friendly and welcoming too, I would definitely go back and recommend

A great local fish and chip takeaway and restaurant. We ate in, haddock and chips for him and Shetland mussels for me. I was given a choice of cream or tomato sauce. The mussels were beautifully sweet.

Heartburn and indigestion. Avoid cod and chips!

Even we came really late the staff was not rushing us. They were really kind and welcoming. We tried out Haddock with chips, shrimp burger and fish stew. Everything was so delicious. The haddock was nice and crispy, not too oily and not too flaky inside. Came with amazing homemade tartare sauce, yummy mushy peas and decent chips. Not too thick and not too thin. The right size. Only forgot to try out their curry. Was surprised about the combination of the crispy fried prawns with sweet chilli sauce, rocket salad and brioche bun. It all worked well together. The fish or I would call seafood stew was my wife's favourite dish. Tiny fish pieces in a nice, mild tomato soup accompanied with prawns, squid rings, mussels and clams. They have nailed the taste of it. Unfortunately they didn't have the fisherman's pie but for that there is always another time 😉

Wow.....absolutely amazing fish restaurant. Went with my husband and 6 year old son. Everything is homemade including the tartare sauce, mushy peas. I had a beautiful homemade fish stew, calamari, my don had homemade fish fingers snd ny husband had cod and chops. All very fresh snd delicious. Great service aswell and friendly staff. Can't wait to go back!

It’s just not just great fish and chips they serve. Last time i came in i had the Scottish salmon sat on a bed of samphire served with new potatoes and a delicious side salad.

We absolutely love Seatree Ware. We eat from here on a regular basis, and have dined in and done take away and either way, the food is delicious. The fish is always fresh and the service is excellent. As someone who is coeliac, it is very difficult to find places to dine but Seatree is the perfect place, the staff are knowledgeable about gluten and incredibly helpful when it comes to ordering the right food.

Excellent!! Had haddock and chips and it was some of the best I've ever had. The fish is fresh and cooked to order which makes a difference!!

This is a real gem of a place; the quality of the food is fantastic, the staff are warm and friendly and the prices are extremely competitive.

Love this place for not being your average fish and chip shop. My favourite is the pan fried garlic prawns. The wet fish/fishmongery section is also useful for those cooking at home.

The food is good - especially the skate - but I wouldn’t call it value for money with the meagre portions.

Amazing gluten free fish and chips. We do not live locally but often get fish and chips from here as they are dedicated gluten free which us rare and also really tasty. Very friendly staff, eat in options are available and also offer non battered, pan fried fish and other things like fish stew etc. Their home made tatare sauce is also fantastic! Highly recommend

Was recommended to try Sea Tree, so I have, found my Plaice a bit over cooked as found it had dried the fish up, Saying that will definitely go back there.

Great food and customer service, was welcomed warmly by the staff as soon as we entered and was promptly escorted to our seats. Food was top notch, and I will be returning to this restaurant again. I strongly recommend the calamari as a starter before your main meal.

Best fish and chips in the area for my taste. Chips are crispy yet fluffy. Exactly what you want. And the batter for the fish is just about perfect. Good - but not perfect - curry sauce, and perfectly decent mushy peas. Only thing that knocks a star off is they haven't really got anything for veggies. All well and good, but it means we just end up getting takeaway elsewhere when otherwise we might come here quite often.

Lucky to get a 1 star from me, not sure what all the hype is as food was not edible. Dissapointed! dissapointed! oh dear must do better but i will not return, not sure what potato they use for their chips as they were rock hard and the vinegar just rolled of the chips into the box as it would not absord into the chip. Batter was over cooked on the Fish and Sausage.

It’s a no from me. If you had a drink then it’s ok but don’t be sober. 2 star only cause its food came earlier then they said. But not again. Not authentic, lacks taste. Anyone from London No!!

The fish was fresh and batter thin and crispy. The chips were good too - not oily. Very friendly efficient service.

The staff are very helpful and polite. The prices are a bit expensive, but having said that, I have been here a couple of dozen times and I have never been disappointed. It is the best fish and chips in Ware

Currently difficult to ring through an order on a Saturday night. Three attempts getting auto message before success on fourth attempt. Very noisy background noise but order confirmed. Arrived at stated time (19:35), but still waited further 10 mins before order ready. Ordered Haddock and chips , batter was quite dark and crispy, fish tasted OK but was quite mushy inside not flaky. Would try Wright's next time and wait for order to be cooked.

First time for us. We had cod n chips and haddock n chips! Gotta say...... thats some good gluten free batter right there!! Crispy till the end. Fish full of flavour and perfectly flaky. Chips were also very good. Not oily. Our new "Go to " chippy. Thanks guys!

Whatever you do, DO NOT order fish and chips from this 'PLAICE' as you certainly will not get plaice. We ordered a takeaway this evening and it was the worst meal I have ever eaten! The tiniest bit of old, cold plaice I have ever seen. Brown fish in old cold batter. Horrible.
