The Sea Spray in Solihull

Threw away two entire portions of chips which had obviously been hanging around for ages before being served. Really bad.

We went to the sea spray on Sunday evening for a last minute bite to eat what a disappointment two steak and kidney pie’s that were cold and chips that were dry and also cold very poor quality if you run a business in this way you deserve to go bust £10 for such poor quality will certainly not be using or recommending this place to anyone dissatisfied and disgraceful

Had mini fish and chips. A large fish with small chips was looking forward to as just move in the area and it was the worst. Fish and chips I have ever had in my life.

Female owner so rude and lacks customer service won’t be going there again no wonder all the staff she employs leave as she a bad attitude.

Popped in yesterday for one portion of chips and one piece of chicken ( two separate items ) was asked if I wanted chips with the chicken and told her no, but the robbing so and so’s still charged me as if I’d had them together, I did tell the lady only to be told well you was asked, I’ll not be using the place again, the chips I’m sure were left overs from the day before and chicken was awful

Wouldn’t usually go here because it’s a little drive from mine. But I’m so glad I did, staff member was lovely, chips were delicious.

Came into sea spray and was served by Claire, the most loveliest most polite girl. Spent my whole lunch break talking to her, most genuine lovely woman. Absolute credit to the establishment. Should be the face of the business, will defo return. Big up Claire x

Bought a small portion of chips from here this evening. What a disgrace it was. The chips were all in tiny bits, not a whole chip in sight. The potatoes were going black, and the chips were hard and chewy. Clearly the chips were not fresh and had been sitting there for a long while before being served. Appalling price for disgusting chips. Will never be coming here again. Haven't been here in a couple of years so thought to give it a go however they have lost a customer.

Long wait for overcooked food. However while waiting nice display of bickering and arguing staff to keep you entertained. Non existent customer service - downhill since original owner’s son in charge - hygiene rating of 1!!

We've lived in Shirley for over a year now and have visited The Sea Spray quite a few times. Shocked to read some of the below reviews. We've never had a bad experience, staff are lovely and the food is always fresh and tasty. Its good value for money for the portion you get especially the Turkish Kebab and the chips! Overall its our favorite chippy in Solihull1!

We especially crossed Birmingham to get fish & chips ... We spent £23 and threw it away ... It was disgusting... The fish was like mashed and definitely not fresh ... The kebab bread not toasted ... Only the chips were fine as they cooked on the spot ... If you want to have a bad day please go to this place ...

This is a multi visit review as I have been about 3 times in the last 4 months. However the last visit was a few days ago and the food was very good. Ordered for 4 people we had two Chicken Kebabs which were excellent the portion of chicken was huge and not greasy. Cod had extremely thin batter iand white fish. Scampi very good. Two standard portions of chips to share were plenty and we like a large meal! Previous visit had not been so good . The busier they are the better the quality!!! This was a Takeaway

My family have been going here for years and years and what a shame... The last few years this place has gone downhill. Since the son took over the service has gone down, I wanted freshly cooked fish, and I was met with tutting and bickering by staff members. The staff do not seem to want to work there and are very unhappy when serving customers. Fish has been overcooked the last five times I have been there and the chips are rock solid due to not being blanched. What is going on seriously Sea Spray, I've decided to take my business elsewhere and go to Cranmore fish and chips where the staff do not bat an eyelid if I ask for fresh fish and chips. Decided to have a takeaway Fish & Chip supper tonight as the whole family were working till late. Hate to complain but..Oh! What a shame..staff were lovely,smiley & friendly BUT..got the food home and..so so disappointed. My husband couldn’t eat his Fish. The Batter on my Fish was so hard I couldn’t bite through half of it. The Fish didn’t taste fresh. We also ordered a portion of Scampi..it was under cooked..Can’t understand why it was so disappointing as when we have visited before it was ok. We think the Fish had been sitting for a long while..not good..won’t be going again ☹️

I've been to the sea spray before and had very good food but I popped in on a Friday afternoon about 3.45 ish a couple of weeks ago and asked for haddock and chips on being told that it would be a short wait I asked for cod instead that was already cooked, I then took my meal away and when I tried the fish the batter was like a bag of scratchings, most of which was inedible, the fish was not freshly cooked and tasted like it had been cooked a long time before it was sold as fresh, very disappointed, chips were very nice

If you want greasy chips and overcooked fish...this is not the place for you! The staff have great banter and can cook up a storm...a fishy storm!

Been going here for my entire life and generally the food is great. Have been a couple of off times particularly with the quality of fish (the chips have always been great but 9/10 times its been the best around!

I have been coming here for very long time I've always found the staff to pleasant and cheerful and polite,, the place is spotless ,and the food I've had has always been fresh tasty,it's hard to find a good quality chip shop ,which have all these qualitys ,keep it up sea spray ( Shirley )

Yes in I come late on a Tuesday night wearing my football shirt and just asking for a piece of cod. Mouth wateringly delicious and served up with a smile. Thank you.

Been a main stay in shirley for as long as i can remember so with wife away baby sitting i had the chance to get a chicken kebab.must send her away more often as the memories came flooding back of my youth and a great night a few beers and if you did not pull you went home with a kebab .still offering the best around love you seaspray

Fruit machine takes my money so asked for it back. They said it's nothing to do with them!! Chips looked like they saw the fryer for at least 10 seconds.

Tonight I decided to visit Sea Spray, hadn't been here in about 18mths

We always go to the Sea Spray when we want Fish and Chips, the Cod is always massive and very tasty with a good size portion of chips to go with it. We sometimes have a chicken kebab which I really like as the meat isn't too spiced at all just nice flavour with plenty of salad. Wouldn't go anywhere else!
