The fish was from the day before tasted like farts each mouthful and the chips I may aswell of dug a Potato out the ground and chomped on that

Just be prepared that your £9.40 mixed kebab will be this small, 6 pieces of chicken/lamb in total and filled with salad and soggy onions to make up for the lack of meat. staff know they are wrong as they laughed when I mentioned the 6 pieces and hung up. waste of money when there's other options on the high street for a real kebab. I wouldn't recommend at all.

Quite overpriced for the area, £2.50 for the smallest portion of chips at time of review. Food was okay though!

Turkey Kababs and Fish n Chips are ultimate there

Food is horrible, greasy and overpriced! Can you even tell what’s fish and what’s sausage. Woman came in complaining how bad the food was whilst there. Go to Nelson’s chip shop much better and it’s cheaper.

Love this place, been tonight first time in years, used to go when I was a kid back in the 80's, moves out of ahirley 10 years ago, it was a proper treat tonight, won't be leaving it so long to revist x

Good quality fish and chips and a varied kebab menu

I ordered a kofta kebab yesterday evening and enjoyed it, I have had kebabs from them for a very long time and enjoy their food and their hospitality too

They seem to have lost their love for good quality fish and chips...fish batter is like carpet and super greasy....chips are just as bad...the whole meal left and bad greasy taste in my mouth. We usually go to cranmore for our fish and chips where my 6 year old lives the fish. When we made a random trip back to sea spray he refused to eat more than one bite of the fish. Says it all

Shocking, woman there was very rude, guy was just as rude. food was vile i would have preferred to go up the road abit if I had knew especially because there's so much to choose from on the highstreet

Very poor! Cod over cooked, sausage tasted horrible, chips undercooked, mushy peas were tasteless & not enough salt & vinegar! Possibly the worst £17 chippy lunch ever!!!!!

I’ve been twice in the past 6 weeks and sadly the food wasn’t good either time .The first time the pie was dry as if it had sat under a heat lamp all day and on the last visit the chips were greasy and left a rancid aftertaste .. the oil must have been old . Honestly a waste of money (over £10 for 3 bags of chips and 2 curry sauces) . . It all went in the bin.Such a shame as the food used to be really good.

Overpriced and disgusting food. Kebab not cooked at all and was freezing cold by time I got home and I live 5 minutes round the corner.

Absolutely disgusting chips! Please all stay away if you want a decent meal. Am loathed to give one star! The fish is awful. I have never received a meal like it! Went up to complain and got such a negative response from the staff. Even showed them the state of the chips. Please stay away all if you know what's best for you. We work hard for money and this place gets away with serving up rubbish

Overcooked fish batter so hard couldn't cut it with a knife the chips overcooked and hard suggest getting someone qualified to cook.

One of the worst places I have ever eaten. I would not recommend visiting this so-called "dining establishment". The food I ate was tasteless and the bland and grossly overpriced. The staff having a real attitude problem. I'd recommend visiting Tugs in Hall Green, as it is cheaper, has better standard; more variety of food options and accept payment by card.

Lovely, friendly lady serving in this incredible heat. (1:15pm Friday 12th August 2022.) Chips were awesome. Highly recommended.

Absolutely awful!! The fish was cold and dry and the chips seemed like they had been served up from last week. We were visiting our elderly relatives and they were really disappointed.

Disappointed been going here over 5 years and got charged extra for having salad separate and not in the kebab! Ordered over £40 worths as relatives down, food nice as usual but service now rubbish! Food is also nice at dovehouse so might aswell go there! Which we will do from now on. Enjoy the £1.40 or so you charged for some salad

If i could i'd leave no starts at all... The staff at this chip shop are unbelievably disrespectful and rude, the atmosphere from the shop is horrible to be around (no smiles no conversations with customers). Our order has been in-completed many times and yet we are regulars!! WON'T BE RETURNING

The workers are nothing but miserable sods, utter lifeless zombies, and by workers I especially include the owners themselves. I am, quite regrettably, a regular customer of this shop and it’s not like my order is small, I spend over £50 everytime and have been doing so for years before. They have been rude every single time I’ve visited and this goes on for years, I’m annoyed it has taken me this long to actually say something. They do NOT correspond over the phone either, no matter how many times you may try, seems like they just don’t care of their parents’ hard earned so don’t even bother wasting your breath. Has not been the same since the original owners, parents of the current owners, had passed it down. What a disgrace

The food is nice but the customer service is really bad I got shouted at in the shop but two people one I think may be the owner and the other one I think must of been his wife to be acting so aggressive. This situation has really up set me and I will never go back to that chip shop again it’s a shame because the Turkish grill is really nice. Immature servicing, arguing with his colleague whilst taking my order, in a rush to make food and it didn't taste good at all, why rush me like let me choose

My Favourite local you can’t beat it unless your Shirley kebabs house I put them both on the same pedestal sea sprays has better chips and Shirley kebab house has better Dönner

Our Friday regular with the family. Never been disappointed.

Cold after 5 minute car journey home which suggests it wasn't hot to begin with. Would have been lovely had it of been a good temperature, there was a lot of waste.

Food was ok. Didn't give a higher rating as they never seem to smile, always have a look on their face like they've been forced to work for the evening. ☹

Fantastic place really tasty food too

Possibly the worst food I have ever eaten. Ordered chicken meat and chips, all was Luke warm, chips tasted stale and like they’d been sat for a while and the chicken meat was disgusting. Most of it was fat that hadn’t rendered out. Wish I’d seen the reviews before I went. Staff were also not wearing masks.

This ‘plaice’ has been skating on ‘fin’ ice for years and today’s visit was the last one for me. I ordered 5 items and the bag looked a bit thin, when I questioned this the lady serving huffed loudly and spoke to the guy next to her in a different language in a derogatory manner. I got home to find that I only had 4 items. The chips where cold, the fish was heavy going and drenched in oil. I have ‘haddock’ with this ‘plaice’ and I think it’s a load of ‘pollocks’!

Spacious and fast, efficient service. A lovely lady there always remembers my order and has been extremely helpful. Always feel valued as a customer. A vast range of choice in their menu. Very fairly priced.

Had chicken in a naan and the naan had obviously just came out of freezer and was almost icy cold!

Amazing food absolutely delicious everything I have eaten has been excellent and chips great highly recommended even our two grandboys love it too

The good thing about my recent visit was the food was piping hot the bad thing was the food is rank. It tasted like they have been using same oil for the past week, it did not look appetising from the start and was as bad as it looked. I ate in and the owner/server had a customer he knew and was f'ing and blinding while still behind the counter. I cannot remember having such a bad fish and chip experience for a long time.

Food isn't bad here but my friend informed me of their one star hygeine rating (I verified this online) unbeknown to me before my last visit... The final nail in the coffin is the fact that the staff aren't wearing gloves, they're handling cash as they don't take cards, then the person who served me coughed into their hand before going to hand me my change. That's pretty appalling when there is a worldwide pandemic.

I personally would recommend the mix meat donner kebab from Harvey's fish bar 356 gospel lane Solihull instead of sea spray because I've tried both and the Sea spray kebab was totally bland compared to Harvey's gospel lane,if you want fish & chips there both delicious I would recommend, also Dovehouse fish bar is good on the Warwick rd.

Very rude ignorant staff they look at you as if they wanna a fight no manners. Food poor real small portion of chips and full size cod not much bigger than a couple of fish fingers and had a kebab was served it all burnt hard discraceful won’t go there again should be shut down

Waited half an hour outside in the freezing cold for half a dozen people to be served to find out cash only,and after saying why no sign on the window, The reply I got was that it is on the menu inside the shop, Thanx for that, ignorant bad attitude, don't deserve to do well, Cranmore boulevard do the best fish and chips anyway, Please avoid these rude people, Inconsiderate,don't deserve your custom,

Haven't been here for a while as not very impressed last time. It's a shame that it has not improved that much after another visit!

Used to be great in here always consistently good food at a reasonable price but had to call it a day after years of declining quality recently. On occasions over the last year or two the food has just been quite frankly disgusting.

Not a nice place. Went there a few times a while ago.

Used for the first time today good fish and chips in a variety of sizes, fishcakes have mashed up incredents not to my taste. No bread cakes to make butties with either. Cash sales only by the way

Not always that good in my Opinion! Went a couple of months ago and it looked like they were cleaning down. The fish display was turned back on when we went in. The fish and chips were disgusting. The fish had sat on that display (switched off) for who knows how long. Went there again last night and mentioned about my previous visit. The lady never apologised for the last time. These yesterday were not to standard either. The fish had been done a while as the batter had gone from crisp to hard. I think they are quite ignorant in there - no please or thank you. Will Never go again. £12.80. Is not cheap for food that has not been freshly cooked. They used to be excellent but this was a long time ago now, perhaps when the parents ran the business.

The chips were lovely .but batter on roe was soggy like cake mix.

Best fish and chip shop in Birmingham. Polite staff and top quality food. Only problem is parking on the busy Stratford Road and long queues in the shop on Friday night's. Got a fish and chips and it was just awful. It's so damn expensive plus they don't even do cod. And then they also charge you for sauces. Might as well go nandos just down the road.

Staff need to remember they are actually there to serve customers. They are so rude, one lady in particular, everytime I go she behaves as if I'm bothering her by ordering. Guess I'll be taking my money elsewhere

I live in hall green so when I do ever go to Shirley I have to pop in and treat my self to a bag of chips. Just the smell walking into the chip shop just makes my mouth water. They are so tasty and hot they are just a treat to eat. Just a wonderful place and staff very friendly .

Rude, rude rude. Pointed to a chicken kebab in the counter, and when I saw them doing me a donna kebab I politely asked for the item I ordered. Was met with a barrage of abuse from the woman serving telling me I’d paid for a donna kebab and that was all I was getting. I offered to pay more for what I wanted then she said ‘what am I supposed to do with that?’, pointing at the kebab she’d done. Language was a barrier but that’s no excuse, I’d have walked out if I hadn’t already paid! Meat was poor quality too. Won’t be going back, and to think I gave them a large tip at Christmas!

Food is always fresh and tastes wonderful. It can be a little expensive compared to others but its worth it. :)

Always good, very tasty, not too greasy and not a long wait. Good value for money and friendly staff. Has been our go to chippy since we moved to the area a year ago.

Have been using The Seaspray on and off for some 20 years. Today I went in and was very dissatisfied. I wanted the special as advertised in the window but the rather surly assistant gave me something different and charged me more. Please don’t advertise specials if you don’t want to serve them. Whatever has happened to the cheery lady who used to be there Thursday and Friday lunchtimes?

I have been using the Seaspray on and off for about 45 years. Lately I have been averaging twice a week and have an addiction problem to their lamb sheesh kebabs. They are absolutely mouth watering!! The staff are always friendly.

Love the fish and chips from here. I still get cravings for their food 1 year on. Best chippy in Solihull/shirley.

Came here for the first time after seeing many positive reviews. I've got to admit the reviews are right, the food was really good. The place itself is nice and clean with a seating area too. The food, I had the Turkish mixed grill which was very nice and full of flavour, in a pitta bread with salad and sauce. Also had a bag of chips, which were nice and fluffy... Defo recommended to all and will be visiting again 👊🏽

Went in this evening at 9.30pm and asked for fish and chips. The lady said that was fine but while she was serving I noticed the chips looked hard and cold. I asked how long the chips had been there for and she answered five minutes, so I said ok? She then asked if I wanted fresh ones but i'd have to wait, i answered yes please! She then went on to talk badly about me under her breath and when the next customer came in offered him fresh food straight away. She wrapped my chips and fish seperately as asked and once I arrived home fish was stone cold and the chips were a mix of fresh and old ones, Such a shame because I moved out of Shirley 4 years ago and back then it was the best chip shop by far. Staff were rude and food wasnt good and definately wont be going back! In future i'll stick to my local!
