We had a lovely family meal at The School House for my parents Golden Wedding last night. The food, service and staff were all fantastic, thank you for making my parents night special!

Really nice location and venue. Staff were really good and looked after us well.

We visited last night 5/9/2024 for our 60th Diamond anniversary I run a ladies club and have been a few times I took 45 July for our end of year dinner it was that good they said can we go back for our Christmas meal I have booked it with Julie sent you deposit which she received yesterday for approx 45 ladies Last night was so disappointing the food chicken was so poor portion the Veg I bowl between 4 people they were very busy as you had a wedding but in all fairness I rave about your place I was disappointed and my friends I took who had never been before was disappointed so sorry as your place is stunning but Not pleased at all I am.in contact with Julie booking the venue for my ladies 🙁

Beautiful setting, interesting and versatile menu. Separate allergen/vegan menu available but main menu could also be adapted to my needs. Helpful staff. Enjoyed dining on the terrace on a sunny day.

Gorgeous place for a wedding especially when the sun shines. Friendly staff who all worked so hard. Manager was amazing, couldn't do enough for you. Food was delicious. Plenty of parking. Super views. Lovely touch of ladies essentials in the toilet.

Sunday meal for 4. A wide variety from the menu ordered. We all found the food to be average, at best. Some items appeared reheated, veg was overcooked. But the waiting staff were good & the venue good too.

We dined here yesterday as part of a large booking, the positives were the venue is lovely and set in very nice surroundings, the building itself is lovely and the internals are very nicely done. The negatives for us were the food and the service. The service wasn't attentive enough considering we were a large booking, we were only asked if everything was OK at the end of the meal, the kids meals were completely overcooked and I wasn't really happy paying for them but there was a situation at the end I felt that just meant I didn't feel comfortable saying. The female waitresses were not too bad they tried but didn't really seem happy. Nobody smiled it just felt like something was off. The young chap that had a red stripey shirt on was very close to being rude, he was very stand offish and when certain party members asked if they could pay some of their bill separately at the end he looked like he was about to explode after huffing and puffing first. He demanded and said "well who's paying for the £50 room hire?" In such a rude manner, it felt like he was suggesting almost somebody was doing him out of money and that he was annoyed. I'm not sure why he was so upset, considering the total bill was a tad under £800 and a party member had already paid £190 deposit. I'm not sure what he had a bee in his bonnet about. I observed from the side and really didn't feel like it was called for, if you don't want to be working there, then don't but don't make your customers feel like they've done something wrong when all they're trying to do is pay their bill. The main event was the food. We were all looking forward to it. However, I was certainly underwhelmed. The seabass was underseasoned, and the portion size was ridiculous, the smallest 4 baby potatoes and 1 half filet of fish on my plate with sauce 😐 A couple of others in our party had said the same that their meals were a little bland and not seasoned. The soup was OK, just ok, the bread that came with it was very doughy in places and felt like a supermarket baguette. For the prices they charge, it really wasn't acceptable. I'm really sorry to say the food lacked any flavour but felt like it was soulless. I hope the restaurant takes the feedback seriously and tries to take on board the above.

We love the Schoolie. Great tasting quality food and menu, good value, great location/views and great atmosphere. Charlie and Will always make my kids and family feel welcome. So much better than the local pub chains. Well worth a visit.

Lunch with a group of friends from the local Health Club. A group of 12. We go quite often to celebrate Birthdays, and are always well looked after.

What can I say! Excellent food, staff so professional and efficient, lovely environment, well recommend especially for a special occasion.

Went for a drink and booked a birthday meal for my husband. The grounds are just amazing greeted by two staff ( brothers) so polite and very friendly, got our drinks very quickly, had our dog with us prices are reasonable, coming for a work function for 100 NHS staff, looking forward to it, had great reviews, was recommended by work colleagues

My family and I would just like to say a huge thankyou to Chris , Wil ,Amy , Julie and all the staff at The School House for making our Family gathering for our Grandsons Christening such a wonderful occasion. On what had been a difficult weekend for them they pulled out all of the stops , the Pavilion was set up beautifully, food was fantastic, nice chilled background music , everyone commented on the fantastic view and location . The service provided was second to none , nothing was too much trouble, even providing a wheelchair for my 80 year old Mother in law on arrival when she was feeling a little unwell and shaky on her feet . Chris , again thankyou , you have a wonderful team around you and we wish you all continued success for the future, we will be back again I'm sure for a meal /future family celebrations. Rare find! great menus, a set price and Al a Carte, food was excellent, service great and a varied wine list too. It has a relaxed setting and atmosphere, and some lovely views outside too.

Visited for a midweek evening meal. The menu was really good with plenty of options to choose from. As of Jul24 the 2 course and 3 course options were priced really well and the quality of food was great. Great value for money. Lovely setting and nice atmosphere inside. It would definitely be worth visiting when it's sunny to sit outside. Prices of drinks were about average and service was great. Will definitely visit again!

Visited here May 2024 with my mother in law for Afternoon Tea and unfortunately was very disappointed. The setting was beautiful and the waitress service fantastic however the food was not very good. The bread was extremely dry and hard as though it had been frozen then defrosted in a hurry, the chicken turkey on the sandwich was processed and almost grey in colour. There was a poor selection of cakes that were mainly dark sponge with a bit of piped cream on the top and the scone was hard. I didn't complain on the day as my it was the first time my mother in law who is 80 had been out in a very long time and I didn't want to spoil the day. I did however receive an email from the Old School House the following day asking for a review where I did make my feelings known however to date I have not received a response. I hope this was a one off, maybe due to staff shortages or extra pressure,/workload due to the wedding on the same day as it is such a lovely venue. I would not visit again in a hurry

My wife and I love this place. The setting is first rate as is the food and even during busy times we have always had good service. We don't find it overpriced given the venue so would recommend the School house for a great meal. A walk around the grounds is highly recommended.

Visited on Friday lunchtime with friends. The fixed menu is good value for money and with a nice range of choices and good portion sizes. Staff very friendly and the place has a lovely feel to it

This is one of my most favourite places!! We got married here and everything from planning until the day after was excellent. The staff are friendly, helpful and kind. The grounds and views are beautiful, the atmosphere is lovely and the food is always excellent. It's great for big events like our wedding and smaller intimate parties. A really great venue!

For the past two years, we've frequented the School House, indulging in everything from dining at the main restaurant to enjoying events with entertainment in the marquee.The food consistently exceeds expectations, and the staff are incredibly accommodating, even going above and beyond for special requests not listed on the menu. We're especially grateful for their attention to our son's peanut allergy. A big shout out to Will and Chris for always providing excellent service! I was looking for a venue to host my daughter’s bridal shower and this restaurant was perfect. From the initial planning to the day Julie, Will and the team were so helpful. The day was a total success - all 28 guests commented on how delicious the food was, the staff couldn’t do enough for us and it helped that the restaurant is in such a beautiful location- I can’t recommend it enough! Thanks for making a special event even better.

Disappointing Sunday Lunch. The high point was the Goats cheese starter, the melon was poorly presented and flavourless. As for the main courses. A very small piece of haddock, more like a starter serving than a main course. The roast beef was edible, however the vegetables were very poor. Clearly overcooked reheated roast potatoes and then a mixture of green beans, carrot and shredded cabbage thrown in the same serving dish as the potatoes. Clearly a very good way of cutting costs. Desert was a waffle and ice cream which was nothing special at all. Will be a long time until we visit again, a shame the food lets the beautiful setting down.

We have had the most amazing day at the grand national event. The food was amazing but nothing compares to the wonderful staff. Especially the manager and Julie our booking lead, nothing is too much trouble. We have been to a few events and it’s always the same 5 star service. Great team always the best time 💕

We have been here several times, usually for special occasions. Food: is always excellent, perfectly presented, and steaks are cooked exactly as requested. A very good range of food is available on the menu, ensuring that they cater for all requirements ie. Vegan, allergies, etc Only one negative comment would be that the homemade chips are too salty, so ask for no seasoning. Service: Previously, the service has been fantastic; however, the last 2 occasions (1 in January for my parents' 75th Birthdays) and the 2nd in April have been extremely disappointing, an overpowering waiter that unfortunately ruins the evening as he ensures the entire restaurants customers are listening to him. Atmosphere: The surroundings are beautiful, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is elegant and perfect when the volume is low. It is clean and well maintained.

We went for Easter Sunday lunch. My Mum is 86 and hard of hearing. The manager put us in the back room which has a very low ceiling and is like eating in an echo chamber. It’s unbearable. One year earlier the same manager placed us in the exact same table and we asked to moved because the noise was unbearable but he still put us in the place. The food was poor obviously pre cooked. It just big servings of tasteless food. We will never go there again because it’s over priced mass catering.

Took some friends for lunch to the School House yesterday and we are always assured superb service from the moment you walk through the door backed up by first class food. Yesterday ambiance was made extra special by Chris Keys, Pianist providing beautiful background music. Thanks to the Team once again for a super lunch.

Had a meal to celebrate mother in laws birthday. The food was lovely, well presented, hot and didn't have to wait long after ordering. Service was very friendly, Chris the manager was very welcoming and the waiting staff were very efficient and polite ( Sora and Amy ). Would definitely go back and recommend to others. Quite fancy trying the afternoon tea. 😀

I went for Afternoon Tea, the sandwiches and scones were nice and fresh and the cakes were delicious and home made. Far too much to eat in one sitting so we had a box to delights to take home. Tea was topped up too, there was a choice of coffee if we wished. The staff were welcoming and very friendly. I'd recommend for a lovely Saturday lunch.

Shame the food doesn’t match the setting and service. Dishes coming out at different times. Some dishes forgotten about, and even some dishes missing key components which to be perfectly honest ruin my main. Over all very underwhelming. Avoid the family style veg sides. Vegetables boiled to death and potatoes raw

Completely overrated. Foods flavourless and bland, mains missing, coming out at different times, and some mains missing half when it came out. Only thing going for it is the setting.

Disappointed with the service Our main was a disaster. Meat served and then we waited 5 minutes for vegetables. Resulted in cold food.

The last time we had visited the School House was for a birthday event which went extremely well. On this occasion a gift voucher of afternoon tea with prosecco was the reason for our visit. The entrance is in some ways inauspicious as you arrive from the car park. Nonetheless once inside the interior is delightful and the exterior view over stream and gardens is excellent. A warm greeting was generous as we were shown to our table and then - disaster - as I tripped on a small step falling dramatically on my face! Shock all around but the staff were exceptionally quick and attentive and apart from pride I had only tweaked my shoulder! Lucky. The attentive service continued with our informative, communicative and highly experienced and professional waiter who served us throughout our meal. Checking every so often I was still in one piece. The afternoon Tea selection was very good and much enjoyed. The venue is obviously prized as one for parties small and large and has a number of suitable annex rooms. The lunch menu looked very good and we are destined to return to try the full menu without a fall!

Genuine English restaurant. In a picturesque village north of Birmingham. Fantastic place, very lively. Luxurious and elegant. Menu full of typical dishes and polite and attentive service. We had a very good dinner for 4 people for 100 pounds.

We have now eaten here twice, once at a function then as a private dinner, and both were great experiences. Outstanding food, service was of a very high level and the place has a superb vibe. The location and outlook are pretty special too.

Took my Mum for lunch today. We ate off the 'fixed price' menu. Hubby had 3 courses, garlic mushrooms starter, pork fillet main & white chocolate & malteser dessert. Mum & I had 2 courses. Pheasant main and lemon meringue dessert. We all had coffee to finish our meals. All of the food was lovely though the pheasant was a little tough. Lovely friendly staff.

First time we've been here in years. Excellent location, beautiful surroundings, a little bit of luxury and a great meal with old friends. The menu is very impressive for a lunchtime, but not overly expensive. Really enjoyed it, and will definitely be back soon.

My husband organised a surprise Birthday party for me and it was absolutely perfect from beginning to end. The food and the choice of it was second to none and the Advice and ambience outstanding. Everybody and everything made it an unforgettable evening.

Well what can I say. Ever disappoints, I’m Not a steak lover at all but I’m converted my partner had a steak last Tuesday fillet & I tied a bit. It was yo die for I was that impressed we booked for the Saturday so I could enjoy one & it was divine. Hats off tho the chef. We ended booking for Sunday dinner the next day and it was fabulous I just love this place if you’ve never been it’s must the staff, Will, Charlie, Chris and Mollie are just amazing and nothings to much trouble. I highly recommend everyone to give this place a try you won’t be disappointed. Excellent ✔️

Friday 16th February 2024. My husband’s cousin Roger and his wife Janine came to visit us in Birmingham and go to lunch. We went to ‘The Old School House’ a nice restaurant just thirty minutes from where we live in Weeford. This was Roger and Janine's first visit to this restaurant. We arrived for 1.00 pm and were shown to a nice table for four in the restaurant The restaurant itself is light, bright and airy with a lovely dining area, where we were seated on this bright sunny afternoon. The place was lovely and the staff were bright and welcoming. We had the three course set dinner menu, which was very good value. We all had starters; Roger had mushrooms in a creamy garlic sauce served on sour dough bread. Janine and my husband had the king prawn skewers served with a chilli sauce, which they said was really nice. I had the duck bonbons served with a wasabi mayonnaise which was really delicious. For our main course: Roger had the breast of pheasant served with a selection of vegetables. My husband had pork in mustard and wholegrain sauce served with a selection of vegetables, which he said was very tasty. Janine had the sea bass served with a selection of vegetables; she said the fish was sublime. I had breast of chicken stuffed with a spicy sausage with a tomato Provencal sauce and served with a nice selection of vegetables, and was really delicious. The dishes all arrived together and were very hot and very well presented. We washed all this lovely food down with a pint of low alcohol larger for Roger, a pint of ‘Hobgoblin’ bitter for my husband. Janine had ice water as she does not drink alcohol. I had a large glass of rose zinfandel wine. We all had desserts: Roger had the bread and butter pudding served with creamy custard. My husband had the passion fruit cheesecake. Janine had the chocolate brownie served with vanilla ice cream. I had the white chocolate and malteaser cheesecake, which was lovely and light and the perfect finish to my meal. We all had coffees afterwards; Roger and My husband had a black coffee. Janine had a decaffeinated coffee and I had a decaffeinated latte coffee. Afterwards we all felt well fed and content. The bill for the food was very reasonable.

Had a party here for my Fathers 70th birthday and we had a great time. From the initial booking process all the way through to decorating the room, the meal, the drinks and the service everything was perfect. Can’t recommend this venue highly enough. Thank you to all of the team here especially Julie, Chris & Molly.

Somethings in life generate wonderful memories that will never be forgotten. Tonight, was one of those. Celebrating my partners Big Birthday, our group experienced a totally flawless performance by the employees. From service, ambience and quality of food, nothing could be criticised. Starters varied from spicy prawns, melon, pate, to list but a few. Mains included pheasant in a beautiful sauce, chicken, and several other dishes. The manner in which they were served was incredibly efficient. All food was hot which is an important consideration. Deserts were also excellent. A wonderful evening with wonderful friends. A fabulous restaurant.

Went for the Wham tribute for Christmas work do cannot fault the food , and serving 200 plus was done well and the food hot when it reached the table. No ask was too small a member of our table only drinks green tea which was bought out in a teapot when she requested instead of coffee to end the meal. I would recommend and will be going back to try the restaurant.

Had our annual festive lunch for 20 people on Saturday. Very disappointed. Most people complained that the food was cold . The pheasant was inedible. It was red inside and very tough. I mentioned this twice and was ignored . Most were dissatisfied with the experience. Definitely not going here again

Thursday 16th November 2023. My husband and I came here for lunch, it was the first time we have come here at a lunchtime. We came to celebrate the first anniversary of my husband's fathers death. The restaurant itself is light, bright and airy with a lovely dining area, where we were seated on this cold and chilly November day. The restaurant could have done with being warmer as it was quite cool. The restaurant was all dressed up with Christmas trimmings ready for the festive season. The place was lovely and the staff were bright and welcoming. We had the three course set lunch menu, which was very good value. We had starters, My husband had the leek and potato soup served with sour dough bread, which he said was really nice. I had a the chicken liver pate, which was lovely and light and just the right size to get the palate started. For our main course: my husband had the breast of pheasant in a red wine sauce, and served with baby buttered potatoes and a nice selection of vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, carrots & peas). My husband said the pheasant was nice. I too had pheasant, but when it came it was not cooked properly and was bloody, and it really put me off so I complained. and I was offered an alternative meal so I had pork fillets in a Dijon sauce served with baby buttered potatoes and a nice selection of vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, carrots & peas). The dishes were piping hot and very creatively presented. We washed all this lovely food down with a bitter for my husband and a large glass of Merlot for myself. We had two desserts, the first being a complimentary one of mint cheesecake with a chocolate sauce and the second being the banoffee bread and butter pudding with custard which was lovely and light and absolutely delicious. We had tea and coffee afterwards and we were the last people to leave, the staff were very apologetic about the pheasant, but as I explained it was not there fault and they quickly remedied the problem.

Another fabulous experience at The School House. Food was delicious as always and a special mention about Chris, he is always so welcoming, efficient and overall brilliant at his job.

The whole experience was amazing as Never been before The service was timed to suit when the we had all finished each course. The food was absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere was perfect to celebrate our 51wedding anniversary x so thank you to all concerned.

Very impressed especially with the host Chris .. was extremely welcoming and efficient .. I gave 4 stars overall as Chris was a bit of a one man show .. I would give him 6 stars though he was brilliant .. food was good and nice setting in restaurant .. I think the owners need to get him some extra staff so he can shine even brighter.
