Was there for a live band on Saturday night the Atmosphere was amazing will definitely be back for a drink and food . Lovely friendly staff.

Another good pub on a housing estate not too far in. Relatively quiet on an afternoon weekdays but, née crisps man, what's going on. Car park and outside seating.

Great Sunday lunch. Good choice of meats, decent portion sizes and served with a smile!

I organised a get together of a group of approx 30 friends & colleagues which took place last week. From the first meeting several weeks previously, I met up with Bobby & Charlie who were both really helpful in assisting me to choose the best options for my event. I chose to have some catering & I have to say it was fabulous. Everyone was very complimentary. Although the bar was open to the public, our area was sectioned off and marked reserved so we could enjoy ourselves in relative privacy, with suitable background music playing. It all worked really well. I liked the fact that I could add to the catering with my own little bits & pieces too. Michelle, who was working the bar that evening, was also really great. She was friendly & attentive, & kept the area free of empty glasses throughout. It was really good value for money, & we got to take doggy bags of leftover food home as well. Everyone said what a great night it had been, & we will definitely do it again. I would recommend the Sandpiper & its staff wholeheartedly. Thanks, guys!

Service and food are good but a little pricey. Atmosphere great shame it's being closed.

Went for Xmas day dinner and really enjoyed our meal. Staff were fantastic and the food was devine .would certainly recommend.

What can I about this place went here 4 Xmas dinner 2 day and as soon as we walked in the atmosphe and service was amazing and it was so Christmases and food was so lovely I couldn't fault any thing I wish I knew there names 2 mention and was greeted at the door 2 the lady with blonde hair came over and asked what we were doing after and eve asked 4 a cuddle can't wait 2 come again 4 food and my Xmas dinner again

Had lunch twice recently. Highly recommended. Like really good home cooking. Will return soon.

Not sure why it's called a gastropub. Called in for something to eat, passed a sign outside that said food being served, but on arrival the barman said they don't serve food. So we left.

They Don't mix with strangers and can be made to feel unwanted

Minging. Went for Sunday dinner, food was just awful. Never been served a Sunday dinner in a pub that was so mediocre. Staff just didn't care. The lad that brought our food brought one plate. Then went back for the next plate. Then went back for the cutlery. Then went back for the gravy. Then went back for the condiments. The lass who served me was sitting on the step of the main entrance smoking as we left. There was a mug on the bar that said "I work with c*nts". Sums it up. Proper little dive. Gorgeous sunny day. No one was sitting outside in the sun on the benches on our way in, and when we got inside, there was one table with people sitting. It was empty, on a Sunday afternoon, and it's in the middle of a residential estate. Says it all. I'm embarrassed that someone can run a business that way.

Called in for food and a pint. The food was the worst I have tasted - the salad was so old it could have walked to the bin itself!!

Called in here about 3 weeks ago as I had heard good things however, the food was the worst I've tasted in all of North Tyneside. Disappointed is an understatement, gammon couldn't be served as 'it was not good quality' which was stated by the chef himself, chicken came out completely dry, and the peppercorn sauce was best left wherever it came from. Sorry to say I definitely won't be going back and would highly recommend not going there if your wanting a nice sit down meal! Need to up your game Sandpiper!

Nice to see the new management has the same disdainful utter disregard for their immediate neighbours. Music blasting out all day and night. Check your own signs on your wall and perhaps try and adhere to them and show respect for the locals.

Nice pub to be fair, but really went there for the Pizza Van in the car park. Informed that no children in the bar or in the pub garden, however they were very kind and let us have a beer in the bar whilst we waited for the pizza. Thanks!

We sat in the back beer garden one evening as the sun went down, that was lovely and spacious. Friendly welcome at the door with a relaxed, happy service.

Well organised but insufficient staff for table service, would recommend having a flag system when you need to get the attention of the waitress, noticed one couple order extra drinks in first round just in case.

My son booked this for my 60th birthday there were 14 in the party and fantastic service from start to finish,helpful friendly staff food was lovely and very quick service .Definatly be back again.

Popped out for a cheeky tea to the Sandpiper using the August deal. Reduced menu, 3 courses for £10 instead of £20. Plenty to choose from, and the food was just fab! We had potato skins and creamy garlic mushrooms to start, Chicken Ceaser Salad and Gammon with all the trimmings for main and chose hot chocolate brownie and Eton Mess cake for pud...so full we couldn't eat the pudding so the lovely staff boxed them up for us and along with my left over half bottle of wine, we skipped off home. Social distancing rules all in place, small delay at the bar, but that's to be expected. We had such a lovely evening, thanks Sandpiper, Cullercoats ❤

We thought with things getting back to some normality we’d treat ourselves to Sunday lunch at the Piper. We booked a slot, completed the check and trace, got our temperatures checked at the door before being shown to a clean table. Everything was looking good so far. We ordered one beef, one chicken dinner and a chicken goujons for the little one which she enjoyed but the beef and chicken dinners were unusual. 4 roast potatoes, cabbage, a huge Yorkshire pudding and what can only be described as watery blended “past the inch of its life” turnip with the look and consistency of baby food. No other vegetables were brought out or offered. The beef was dry and so tough it was a great workout for the forearms to cut and jaw to chew. The chicken was also dry and unappealing. We would have asked what happened to the turnip and was this a new twist on veg? But no one asked how the meal was even with 4 people working on the bar. The staff were disinterested in diners. To summarise, a very poor effort. We will not be returning to the piper for food again. On the plus side the Heineken was lovely and cold.

Clean, smart, nice ambience and nice real ale. Would have got 5 stars but the beer was a tad warm... Still coming back!

Went for Saturday lunch today - well impressed - Guy on the bar very polite and friendly- food good - had soup, tuna wrap and fries, husband had double burger and fries. Place very clean and comfortable toilets excellent- can’t fault it - people who give this place anything but good reviews are just mean - we’ll definitely go again.

The Sandpiper used to be excellent for a Sunday lunch unfortunately it has fallen a long way in my opinion. Veg far to hard, beef dry as sticks and tough, £10.45 for just mains is over the top as well. We should have known when we walked through the door when only 1 other couple were in when not so long ago you were struggling to get a table. This place needs to get back to what it was 2 years ago and not try to be something it's not.

First time we visited and tried the food here tonight. Looked online at the menu and it had plenty for vegetarians. Sadly not many items we wanted on the menu when we ordered though. It changed a few times as others not available once ordered and then had an issue with one order when it arrved. Once we all had our meals the food was supberb and all enjoyed. We loved the chips! Staff were helpful and polite. Will be back to try the other options. The place was clean and had a lovely atmosphere.

The food has gone drastically downhill since the takeover / new staff. Watery cauliflower cheese that is not at all worth the extra charge, over-cooked chicken that was tough to chew, roast potatoes that felt days old. So disappointing as we used to love this place.

Sunday dinners are very nice..tender meats,fresh vegetables,etc. Food through week is very good as well, apart from one dish..pasta in cheese sauce..£9 is very dear for small bowl.Maybe the extra pound for bacon pieces should be a free option.I suggest a moe realistic price of £4.99 to £5.99 tops!Apart from this..everything very good.

No good at all - had a vegetarian salad - next to nil Avocados, nil dressing, and my wife and I ate mayonnaise 3 months past the Best Before date. Too pricey. Not recommended.

Lovely clean place with excellent staff. Unfortunately we ordered food but, after an hour, it hadn't arrived. On complaining, the management apologized and gave us a full refund. As I understand, this was due to technical difficulties in the kitchen. I am certain this was a one off as the staff seemed to be as frustrated as the customers. We shall try to dine again some time and am sure it will warrant a full 5 ⭐.

Lovely food and nice friendly atmosphere

Disappointed unfortunately. Waited a good 30 minutes for a margarita pizza and a wrap, and the pub was only 40% full on a Thursday afternoon... The waiter came out of the kitchen chewing something which I found funny as we went into half an hour without food that we paid in total £20 for... The food presentation and taste was allright, but again; not good enough to wait that long for.

The menu had an extensive choice. First time we visited fur a while and we were impressed. Good ale choice and selection of lagers on draught. I had the gammon which was very good and the fish was tasty too. The chips were chunky and home made with the skins on. Staff welcoming. You just order at the bar and give your table number.

Love having this gem of a pub so close to where I live. Never had a bad meal there. Very relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff.

Went to watch the rugby. Good atmosphere. Bar staff friendly and efficient. Beer is well kept and my Birra Moretti(s) were lovely.... Pity about the result!

Called in with my wife and daughter for an impromptu drink. Nice atmosphere in the bar unfortunately the impromptu drink turned into an impromptu wait at the bar whilst the young lad behind the bar initially said "be with you in a minute" and spent at least the next five minutes chatting in the function room to another customer! Nice bar poor service and no excuse as it wasn't exactly busy!

Really enjoyed our meal first time we've been definitely didn't disappoint.

Second visit here and it's a very cold venue. The toilets are freezing and the hand drier is cold too. Food looked okay nothing special. Will give this a miss during winter months as hate being cold.

Lovely place and Staff very friendly but unfortunately, the meal i got (prawn curry) was horrible!!! It was the Special but the prawns were tiny and obviously been over cooked to the point they were so solid. The curry sauce had also dried up. What a shame as we were very impressed when we first went in

At a 70th Birthday party tonight 25th July. We were nearly all roasted alive.i couldn't see any air vents.wont be going again in a hurry.unable to open doors or windows.

Fab beer and great beer garden and great food.
