The George - Bar & Pub in North Tyneside

Still a favourite of mine, it was mid afternoon on a Tuesday but they still have live music on an evening.

Live band playing. #Common people Good music good atmosphere. Bar staff helpful young kid tried his best to hear over the music.

Great pub welcoming staff...fab bands.

Once again absolutely ××××. Won't try it again, used to be packed when a band was on. The band had to wait till 10pm to start, they should have announced on website, we got there at 7pm, incase we couldn't get a seat ,ha ha, 3rd time trying it again that's the last time, even the band said they wouldn't come back.

New hosts need to seriously buck their ideas up. Visited 3 times and each has been worse than the last. On the latest visit no thef customers owners sitting watching TV we were very obviously disturbing them stated "I'm not getting up to serve them " Visited the ladies before leaving no toilet roll empty rolls strewn around and toilet dirty. We will not be disturbing them again

Fantastic pub , our first visit , went especially to see the band the Proper boys, who were awesome , a real crowd puller, However, as closing in two weeks apparently........ No Guinness No real ales So brown ale it was , ohh dear I really hope this pub is saved from the PUB CHURCH YARD

Could be better. Great that the George is back up and running, and have heard great things about the bands, but there is one fundamental thing that could be better. Hygiene. The place is dirty and a bit smelly. Few empty tables were dirty from the people who were sat there before. Crumbs and stickiness, old beer mats. Mould around windowsills. Didn’t see any housekeeping going on when we were there. Just needs the bar staff (certain ones who sit around a lot to be fair) to give the tables a quick spray and wipe over and the floor brushed or a good hoover. Observed one member of staff sitting behind the bar drinking pints and vaping and another picking his nose and eating it, all while serving pints etc. Not great! Food menu is good and the chips are lovely. Great beer garden in the Summer. Let’s hope things improve as it could be amazing. Edit partner made a more recent trip. Most of the pumps covered with glasses. No draft. Selling cans of fosters. Rubbish bins at back overflowing, rubbish in bushes and in beer garden.

Dogs are alowed, Friendly staff, lots of lager to chose from, rock nights, democratic prices, and great atmosphere and all other classic pub things.

Fab little local. A real hidden gem with a great team behind the bar and fantastic selection of food and drinks. Reasonably priced and delicious

This pub had a bit of a mixed reputation which I felt was undeserved after it reopened, it was a decent pub. The refit was good and it was perfectly decent in late 2022. However on my last visit this month, during a quiet period around 3:30pm, the barmaid was allowing a lady and her children to run riot around the bar area. Nothing was said as the dog bounded over furniture and chairs and her children ran around screaming. I saw two other customers leave because of this, while I moved tables. The barmaid said nothing and chatted to her friend as customers slowly pulled their hair out. Not nice to go to a pub and feel more stressed than before you came in. Avoid during daytimes, staff need to buck up.

What a lovely treasure of a pub. Staff are amazing and prices reasonable. Will be back again, and again!

As a group of friends we love this bar for the friendly efficient staff, lovely atmosphere & great mix of rock bands they put on regularly. We would be there more often if husbands work patterns allowed. Fab that it's walking distance from home 2 miles and can get food from the various takeaways outside after a night out.

Nice pub , maybe some real ale would be good . Still to be recommended tho !

I haven't been in the George for 30 years as it was a regular haunt. And I popped in to meet old friends and a Navy buddy. Yes the place has been done out. Looks great. But it's lost it's soul. Also. Don't pop in to if you want some warmth. It was freezing. On the plus side. They serve some great beers. Bear Moretti on tap, if you want ale. I recommend Neck Oil.

Not the nicest pub I've ever been in!

Its great to see it back open again.It's been a great pub in its day let's hope it gets back up there again. We go on a Thursday after Badminton just for a couple of beers and you never have to wait to get served (we used to go to the Falcons Nest while the Steva was shut and you could be 15 mins before you were served) the beer is good the place is clean the background music tonight was Fleetwood Mac and it caters for the older crowd whether it likes it or not which isn't a bad thing because we've got loads of money!.

7/7/2022. A pub that has recently reopened after a make over. Hopefully it will be well used by the locals. Car park and beer garden at the rear, children allowed and dogs. Pool table at the back.

First day opening since COVID. Great atmosphere everyone knows everyone. The blues brothers sang local lads. Proper pub.

A wonderful place that is just amazing atmosphere

Decent local pub - a proper pub, not a fancy bar that does 2-4-1 cocktails or owt like that. Live music on a Saturday night - often too loud for the side of the place. Forget about sitting with friends and having a group chat. You could always sit outside, of course. One star deducted for getting rid of the pool table.

The food was hot, plentiful in fact excellent as was the service. If an improvement could be suggested it would be to incorporate a white meat along with the other three choices. I will definitely be going back.

Staff dopey food very basic.not enjoyed! Don't take note of the menu,ordered chicken dinner and paid for,2 be then told that was an old menu and it wasn't available

£3.80 a pint and £2.00 for a half, downright thievery! The place is scruffy, they sacked a great manager. The drink is overpriced, the staff slow and too interested in talking to their mates. I'll not go back there until they price stuff properly and stop ripping off their punters. The West Moor Club is 100 metres away and far far cheaper and friendlier. The so called "Tapas" is only served till 6.00, the place is a joke, avoid at all costs.
