I visited the restaurant in the Salthouse last night with family. We were welcomed by Taurean who looked after us all evening. He was informative, friendly, charming and very good at his job. Our meals (all different) were delivered in a timely manner and the food was excellent. Lovely vibe and comfortable surroundings

Family Of 8 for Celebration Dinner excellent Service from start to finish - didn’t get the Girl’s name, however she was fantastic as where the others who served. Food was beautiful Starters/Mains/Desserts & Drinks, Birthday Cake on Cue at the end - couldn’t fault it. Thankyou To the Staff at Salthouse for making it a lovely evening, Highly recommend

Went to the lookout as the food prices seemed very reasonable compared to the hotel, yes the food was lovely, the setting is beautiful and the staff very attentive however... the drink prices are disgusgting, almost ten pount for a glass of wine and seven pound for a pint, so for this reason only average rating from me and as I enjoy a glass of wine with my dinner I probable will not be back.

Afternoon Tea yesterday! 5* prices. Food looked well and tasted good - don't expect cream with your scone and jam ...you don't get any!! Service non existent which ruined the whole experience. We had booked but the attention to detail was sadly lacking. Very disappointing.

We went for my birthday meal whilst staying in the North coast. We ordered two steaks. A very strange experience as my husband's steak came out and he asked for medium rare. He was asked to cut into it to check. Seemed like the chef knew it was overcooked but sent it on our anyway. It was more like a medium-well done. I was half way through my meal when he finally got his. No apology from staff. Not a place to go for a celebratory dinner! Very overpriced for what it is. A disappointing choice for a birthday meal.

The burgers were dry and tasteless and the chips were hard. Drinks were very expensive. Would not recommend and will not be returning.

Having been underwhelmed on several occasions by the restaurant at the main hotel we decided to try the adjoining Lookout restaurant. Super attentive staff . Great food , pizzas are excellent. Big shock come bill . The food is so reasonably priced the drinks were ridiculously expensive. Nine pounds fifty for a glass of Merlot , six pounds seventy pence for a pint and ten pounds for a gin and tonic. Didn’t spoil our night but this is the reason for the two star rating. Next time we ll have water !!!

Very distrusting establishment. Although taking a booking deposit, although taking a debit card on check in, Although staying in this out of town hotel —- the staff are instructed to ask you for payment for every drink you order in any off their bars as soon as you order them, even before you get your drink!!!!! Never ever have I felt so mistrusted and unwelcome in a very over priced establishment in my life!!! Better places at better prices. Won’t be back!! Wasn’t even asked how my stay was! Think it was because everyone checking out in front of me complained about the way they were treated. Don’t listen to the media campaign and give it a miss.

We love the Salthouse and the views are next to none. Decided to give the Lookout a try. If you want average pub food it’s grand. Nothing special at all. And expensive for what it is! Three dining and bill of £90. The restaurant itself it lovely, but a little more finesse food wise is massively needed

Visited the restaurant for my brothers birthday. Disappointed overall - had the seafood platter - burnt squid, over salted and no accompaniment.Chicken was also overcooked. Waiters look as though they dont want to be there and when we mentioned thisthey said they’d tell the chef. No acknowledgment. When we were paying for the meal they took off one drink from the bill. Never be back

We ate here yesterday, I had the seafood pasta, should have called it smoked fish pasta. Mega disappointing, two prawns in their shells thrown on top. Other than a couple of pieces of salmon, the rest was smoked fish. The coffees only come with one shot, so be sure to ask for two because they don’t tell you. I ordered a cheesecake dessert, you would have needed a still saw to get through it and the crumbs that I did eat were stale so I sent it back . There are much better places to eat on the coast

Cannot fault the food. Delicious tasty hot and scrumptious. The venue and the views first class. Also very clean environment. The service was great although one member of staff was not approachable at all. She ignored my husband when he called her and although seemed to be part of the floor management never once asked were we happy did we need anything? The servers were lovely friendly and very well mannered compared to their superior. Yes I will go back and would recommend this for a family meal.

We have visited this restaurant a few times since it opened and have always enjoyed ourselves our last visit being June 2023. I thought I would take my wife there on the evening of the 10 March, Mother’s Day, to celebrate. Not the place we both remembered. On arrival we stood at the restaurant reception for ten minutes waiting to be seated. Eventually we were sat in a side room on our own. We ordered some drinks and these turned up after we had been there for thirty minutes. After a further period of waiting I managed to attract the attention of a member of staff and asked to be moved into the main room, had we wanted to dine alone we could have just stayed at home. The table we were taken to was streaky and still wet and there was food on the seats. We had also been abandoned to carry menus, wine lists and drinks ourselves, we also had to ask if we could get some water for the table. We then had our food order taken. A further hour passed. The couple on the table next to us who were residents sent their food back and eventually the lady left clearly upset and didn’t return. After ninety minutes the food arrived I had the duck and cannot fault either the preparation or presentation. However my wife had ordered fish which had been placed on top of the vegetables which meant everything on her plate tasted of fish which she couldn’t eat. Not once did anyone come to the table to see if everything was OK and it was clear there were insufficient staff on duty to cope. Overall a poor experience and not a place I will take any visitors to in a hurry. Standards have definitely declined since our last visit and having made several personal recommendations to friends and family I definitely felt let down.

Quite disappointed in general for an upmarket restaurant. The starter was just ok, one had a sirloin and one had a ribeye steak, the ribeye was ok but the sirloin was very tough, no one ask how our meal was and had great difficulty attracting a waiter’s attention to complain consequently we soldiered on trying to eat it. When we finally got to complain it was taken away and then were told we had eaten too much for a replacement . The waiter said we wouldn’t be charged but when the bill came there it was, instead they gave a free dessert, small compensation for a very disappointing meal.

Not our first visit to The Salthouse, we have been many times for drinks and to enjoy the views. Arrived for lunch, service excellent, Guinness and wine very good but food was very disappointing. My husband ordered fish and chips, fish was so thin when cooked it was very tough. It was returned to the kitchen for replacement, when it arrived, it was exactly the same as the first dish. The fish was very thin and tough again. I ordered the Brie and Bacon melt with side salad. When it arrived it was two bits of toasted bread with very little filling and mixed leafs only. Not a very enjoyable experience.

We ate here for our anniversary and couldn’t fault this fine restaurant! The decor is splendid with beautiful Christmas decor and lighting. We ordered from their new Christmas menu, getting in the spirit early, why not? Turkey and Ham was a very generous portion and absolutely delicious. We had deserts also very good and an anniversary plate was brought to us at the same time which we thought was a lovely gesture. A thank you to Hayley who’s service was so accommodating, warm and friendly. We’ll be recommending to all our family and friends and can’t wait to return soon

We were two couples looking for a light lunch, and Salthouse delivered to perfection. We were walk-ins at the main hotel restaurant. Great ambience in all public areas, warm welcome in dining room, and good food menu and choices for drinks (various wines and beers across the four of us). Especially good was the chowder with homemade bread …. fresh ingredients perfectly cooked, well presented and good portions. We treated ourselves to a side of chips too, which were “simply the best”: no grease, fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Good espresso too. Brilliant lunch. We’ll be back, and will be recommending to friends.

From start to finish our meal was first class . From the ease of booking , to the welcome at reception to the knowledgeable bar staff and Angela and Hayley our professional friendly wait staff , can’t fault it . Beaver town beer delightful to find it here and a well made bramble . Our share plate really wasn’t needed , as our main courses were so large , seafood platter was delicious but I couldn’t finish it . The lamb shank fell apart with amazing flavours . I couldn’t manage a pudding so I got one to go . I forgot it and was followed out to the car park with it , it was equally delicious the next day . Salt house you did yourself proud , and you looked after us so well . Thankyou

First time eating at The Lookout - a new part of the hotel complex. Tasty pizza, just the right size to leave you full but not stuffed! Pasta perfectly cooked and a smooth tomato sauce. Decor pleasant, lighting a bit harsh though for the evening. Service ok. Would come back again.

The respo nse actually shows the attitude of the management , the staff did say they were short staffed surprised they keep long term staff at all ,as for accusing us of lying the small area by pub was packed , it took half hour to park , that’s not a lie. And a mention of waiting times WOULD be helpful , tina my dear you’ve just confirmed we made the right decision to leave .

We are just home from a fantastic weekend at the salt house hotel. Everything was just perfect. We pre booked the spa area which is fab that you get it to yourselves. Really relaxing and lovely spa staff. Great views from hot tubs. We had booked a lodge for the 6 of us. Check was at 3pm but the reception staff very kindly let us in at 1pm as we had just finished using the spa. This was just brilliant no waiting around. The lodge was just fab. Lovely interiors. We had a hot tub out the front easy to use. Could not recommend this place enough. It was so clean aswell. Everything we needed was provided. The lodges come with robes and slippers Fab touch. We had dinner in the salt house restaurant. Again Amazing food! We all had the steak. The honeycomb sundae dessert was just Devine. We had a lovely blonde chatty girl with glasses as our waitress. She was great craic. She even got us some milk to make tea in the lodge. These little touches just made our stay even better. Breakfast was beautiful again. Great service. Very attentive staff. We will defiantly be back to visit again.

This hotel is amazing. They’ve got everything just right. The ambience is sublime. The views spectacular and the food was delicious. Two different dining experiences to choose from, fine dining in the hotel restaurant or more casual in the Lookout restaurant. Both are exceptional. Highly recommend a visit to this beautiful hotel.

Hello folks. Thank you so much for a wonderful meal this evening. It was our first night out together as a family of four. We were a little nervous bringing a 3 month old and a 2 year old out to a restaurant, so we were overwhelmed with your kindness. Thanks for being so good with our boys and patient with us as we ran about after the. The food was delicious and your staff are incredible. Sorry about the tiger in the flowers!

Visited ‘The Lookout’ for the second… and last time… tonight…. Not one for writing reviews but strongly feel the need to do after this visit… ordered a bottle of wine.,, it arrived not quite full and with the seal broken… spoke to the manager who apologised and brought another bottle with a seal… starters were toasty hot and delicious… mains arrived and the pasta dish had a piece of limp garlic bread on it… pointed it out to the staff and it was removed… only to be replaced by the same plate if pasta with a slightly more presentable piece of garlic bread… however the pasta was lukewarm at best… spoke to the manager… paid for the wine and the starters and left… will not be returning… disappointing as we’d hoped Ballycastle had another venue… with a stunning view… that we could enjoy… sadly not…

Coffee shop it is not . It is more like a greasy spoon cafe. Seems to exist mainly for all day brunches and not coffee and cake. Choice of cake in the ‘ coffee shop’ limited unlike in the bakery downstairs. Loos clean but tables were not . Staff friendly enough but lack of menu information letting them down. Some menu boards above serving area seem to be covered by bin bags . Vibes of a seventies cafe . Sad .

Don't sell crab claws after 2000 which was the only reason I came, so ordered fish and chips and arriving in less than 5 mins 😅 over cooked and dry id of sooner went to the chipper shop. I'd recommend going somewhere else. I wouldn't recommend eating here lol better to go across the road.
