A lovely little cafe in Swanwick village, just across the road from St Andrews Church. The All Day Breakfast was delicious and the pot of tea made three cups! The cakes looked lovely. Everywhere was clean and tidy and the ladies there were lovely. We'll definitely visit the Salt Pot again. I've added a current (Sept 2024) menu as an image as I couldn't find one online.

Never known such a dirty cafe in my life!! So we had some time after laytons dentist appointment so we went to swanwick cafe To top it off she gave my son his food first which I expect anyway so that was a good thing but then forgot the sausage and mushrooms cob I ordered So she cooked the sausages and mushrooms but they was both frozen and microwaved for 30 seconds she then dropped a sausage on floor told her she dropped it she put it in the side then in a plate and cooked another sausage then put that sausage on the same plate as the one she dropped they didn’t touch but she tried to give me the sausage she dropped on floor I will be leaving that review on their page if they have one they are disgusting and need shutting down!!!!! Oh to top it off the used her fingers to take the mushrooms out the bowl no gloves on or nothing These sausages are not cooked

What a pleasant little spot this is for breakfast or lunch. This cafe in the small Derbyshire village of Swanwick is not huge by any means, only seating about a dozen or so diners, but it’s extremely comfortable, quite homely, with a stylish contemporary decor conducive to enjoying a relaxing coffee or bite to eat. I believe it’s a community endeavour and that some of the staff are volunteers. Full marks to them. I’ve walked past this little cafe many times over the past 15 or so years, and went in for breakfast for the first time just recently. I enjoyed a Saltpot Breakfast. Whilst not haute cuisine by any means (and at £5.50, nor did I expect that), it was simple, ample, and tasty - sausages, egg, bacon, and tomato (or beans). One slight improvement would be for the waitress to ask how you wanted your eggs done. The coffee, a double espresso, was reasonable. I was pleased to see the almost local Denby Pottery being used as the cafe’s crockery - nice touch. The menu isn’t huge, but there’s a reasonable selection, from a hot breakfast, to cobs, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, omelettes, and sausage rolls and pasties. There’s options for vegetarians. There’s a small selection of cakes and desserts, with gluten and dairy free options available. Prices are astonishingly cheap so it presents good value. The cafe is only open weekdays, between 09:30 and 14:30. I was surprised at how busy it was, as nearly every seating spot was occupied. The staff were friendly, without being overbearing or intrusive. There’s WiFi available, and the cafe is suitable to those using mobility assistance as a ramp at the entrance provides access. It’s on The Green, just up the street from the local parish church.

A very handy little cafe right on the traffic lights. The menu is limited but is freshly prepared. If you just want a snack or a lovely coffee and cake, its ideal. I think it closed around 2.30. There is a free car park just 50 meters further up the street

Quick visit for a pint on an autumn evening. It was on my list to visit, but had to make a special effort as it doesn't open until 4.30 pm midweek. It was worth the effort. Good real ale. Nice fire. Nice atmosphere. Very friendly barman.

Thanks to a random choice we chose Café G. What a lucky choice. On a grey day it felt welcoming, the overall impressions were clean, despite a small footprint not small or crowded, and the furniture was just right for the pleasant décor. Then two simple meals later we were well satisfied with the short wait, the pleasant service and the presentation of a well cooked meal.

Simply the worst fish and chips I have ever purchased. I'll not say eat as I didn't get that far. They went in the bin. Arrived at tea time. Not busy. Ordered mini fish meal with curry. Told me the fish would be fried fresh. I didn't see the fish and chips being wrapped. I was stood outside the shop, collected my order and travelled the short distance home. My suspicions should have been aroused by the amount of oil that was seeping through the wrapping paper onto the mat on my van floor. On unwrapping, the fish was a burnt brown colour, soaking in oil with not a hint of crispness to the batter. The oil that was not soaked in the fish was the colour of, well I've seen cleaner oil come out of a gearbox. Chips were soggy, oily and again awful. All this for £11. I'm not sure but if you order the items individually it is cheaper. I'll not be checking as never going back.
