Stopped in for some lunch whilst visiting the zoo. The food was nice, pretty standard topped fries and chicken strips. Nothing spectacular but also tasty. It was quite expensive for two portions of fries, two drinks and some chicken strips.

Absolutely horrible experience, took 50 minutes for two paninis because “there was an argument in the kitchen” and she “forgot to put them on”. Then took over 20 minutes for a tea, pepsi, and orange juice. Everyone in there was asking where their orders were. Cheese was vile too.

We were here for lunch. Ordering at the order terminal was very straightforward and easy. The burgers and chips were good. Only the coffee and latte were not served so attractively because the glasses were too full and something had spilled over.

Way overpriced its such a rip off, imagine £9 for a burger with no cheese or tomato, just lettuce and a burger between 2 buns. What a joke, if you wanted cheese or bacon added £2 per go? Like what? Very poor quality meat as well. Just not worth your time or money. This establishment is not owned by the welsh mountain zoo so this is not to reflect badly on them as the zoo is amazing. Just make sure you bring a packed lunch

Highly reccomend this place if your very patient . If you fancy waiting over an hour for two orders of chips and a hot dog then this is your deal . The orders were not in fact in order but I don't know how Welsh numbers work (113 and then 94) The food was OK at best but wasn't worth £37 and an hour of my time . On a positive note there was a nice view of the tigers . But I can tell you something that tiger was not coming to tea.

Over priced and slow service. How an earth 2 hot drinks take nearly half an hour to make is beyond me. I don't say this lightly, but Starbucks would have been cheaper. This also seems to be the hub where all the screaming children descend upon. Avoid at all costs.

There were 2 screens for self-ordering. One wasn't working showing no connection, to the other one there was a queue, as it wasn't working right either. I went to the regular till. Coffee and Safari hot chocolate were great. The burger was also great, but my hubby had homemade pulled pork loaded fries, and the pulled pork was really nice but the fries were disgusting as we could tell, they were fried in old oil.

Food was okay (burger was dry) but overpriced. We waited over an hour for our food to be ready which was madness. It was busy but not crazy busy. Definitely understaffed and not enough seating, including seating that's not appropriate for young children as it tipped over with my son on it. Could definitely make better use of the space to have more tables in there.

I’ve visited the Superb Welsh Mountain Zoo each New Year’s Day for many years, we always eat at the Safari restaurant and the food has always been expectable although understandably a little on the expensive side, today 1/1/2024 will be the last time I stop for food, terrible automated service, the overpriced food could not be justified by the location of the restaurant or by the extremely low quality of the food.

Absolutely shocking food at ridiculously high prices, the zoo should be ashamed serving this to there customers. After a morning exploring the Welsh Mountain Zoo we needed a sit down and a bite to eat to recharge ready for more of the same in the afternoon. Having been quickly welcomed and seated it was not long before we were admiring the view of the bay. We had a relatively light lunch and all was hot, delivered quickly and absolutely delicious.

Firstly, the girl on the front desk with the funky hair was great. Smiling every time I saw her despite being very busy and helped resolve an incorrect cooked order for us very quickly. The food itself was average but was reasonably priced given the setting. The area itself was in need of a good clean from obviously being busy with not enough staff to keep on top of it and the orders. The balcony over the tiger enclosure was great.

Came here whilst visiting the zoo and we made a pit stop to refuel for a second trip around and The quality of the food and the facilities were really nice and clean with a really great view whilst you eat your meal but the only slight downside was that there was a maximum capacity issue which forces you to wait or go for another walk round until there is a table available so expanding the restaurant would be beneficial and help prevent overcrowding issues.

It was like being served by Basil Fawlty!! There was only 2 people in front of me but waited ages. The woman serving walked away half way through serving the customer in front of me to clean up a spill, but she didn't say anything, just walked away, and no apology when she returned, bearing in mind there was a queue. Some people actually left the queue as they were sick of waiting. The server then said very rudely that anyone ordering hot food had to do so on the screen, despite having already served people for hot food, she said even the lady behind me, who by this point had been queuing with me for over 10 mins had to leave the queue and order at the screen (she didn't leave the queue as that wouldn't have been fair on her). When I finally got to order it was as though I was troubling her by ordering. I asked for hot food (yes I wasn't leaving the queue either) and a sandwich, to which she asked if it was a large or small sandwich; as the sandwiches on display were all the same size I asked what the difference was and this just seemed to annoy her. I asked for a plate for the sandwich to be informed there were no plates just napkins(bearing in mind this says its a restaurant). So ordering done I sat down to wait for our number to be called so I could collect the food. Once called our hot food was served to us in a paper bag in cardboard cartons (restaurant quality 'eh?!). The chips were tepid at best and the "special" hot roast pork sandwich was 'meh. And talk about expensive.... It cost me the best part of £20 for a ham sandwich, crisps, chips, pork sandwich and 3 drinks. Calling this place a restaurant is really stretching it, expensive greasy spoon would be a better choice of words. The thing is, the zoo is great but this place is an embarrassment to it. They need to drop the prices if they can't even serve food on plates and employ someone who's more cheerful and much less rude.

It's a push to call it a restaurant at best. Food in boxes, no plates, no waiters/waitresses just a grumpy lady serving who blames the big queue on the customers not on the fact she buggered off for 10 minutes. The zoo is great, this place was not.

Had a few issues with orders for a number of people coming in for some food such as wrong or missing items. The menu is strangely hidden from view because you have to access it through an app you download when you come in via a QR code. Not a fan of that personally and the food itself is just about serviceable.

I even don’t know where to start… the most expensive and underwhelming lunch experience ever! Such a let down for that zoo! It was so cold inside, extremely dirty windows, overflowing bins, floor with food leftovers and floor was literally black as hasn’t been cleaned for many years by looks of it (see photos), food super expensive and over fried, we paid 1.80£ for 0.33ml can of Pepsi and 7£ for terrible sausage and chips! When we picked the order they didn’t put the drink in, then we had to go back as they didn’t put an ice cream in too. Save your money and your health and take the packed lunch with you next time! Such a shame as it’s the only place to eat or have a coffee there, should be demolished, such a rip-off. I had a stomachache after we ate there… well we tried the food and most of it went in to the bin (30£ for a small lunch). What a terrible shame!

What a shocking place. Told there was no tables and 20 min wait for food. Then table appeared immediately and food was served in like 5 mins. My first thought is they are actually discouraging you from coming in (I understand now)... burger was like dog meat, chips like cardboard, bins full, very dirty, cost £30 for lunch for 3. Pepsi 1.80 - it's a 330ml can!! They missed things off our order. Had to go back twice to collect missing things. The only positive feedback was the seagulls demolished the sausages which my son wouldn't eat, at least they were happy. I got home and felt like I've been raped.

Absolutely freezing in there, no access to the toilets even though you can access them from the other end of the zoo, for some reason, they will not allow you to access them from the normal way. Food has to be ordered via an app due to covid. You have to scan an (unreadable) QR code off the tables. When you finally get onto the app, it takes forever to make your order and the process of adding extra or having things taken off your order is a nightmare. The food is awful too. Over cooked but cold sausage rolls, awful fries, gravy is like water with no flavour. Coffee very poor too. Very small variety available and I feel the Zoo should revert back to their old way of serving without this pathetic app that isn't fit for purpose. Menu needs updating and more care needs putting into actually cooking the meals provided, to offer better presented and tasteful food, especially for the price you pay for it. So expensive and mostly inedible food. It's such a shame as I love the zoo and I always used to use the cafe as a way of spending more money there for a good cause but I will be bringing packed lunches with me from now on

Rarely do I post bad reviews but to save anyone else the trouble of wondering whether or not to go here, don't. Whilst the food was good (decent portions but at a price to match) the serve was atrocious. After queuing to get in we sat at a table for a long time waiting for food from a limited menu. Looking around the place was full of people sitting and waiting. Very few people actually had food and most people who eventually did get food stood up and left with it. They need to sort out their kitchen and waiting staff (lots of staff, very little movement out the front). The one good thing about visiting is that we know not to visit again!

This cafe really let's down the zoo experience. Had to order on the app which I struggled to download, took ages then when I did get on it couldn't order the thing we wanted so I had to go up to the counter anyway where they made us what we wanted so I don't understand why we couldn't order it on the app. Food was quick but very average.

Served an out of date Tuna Niçoise salad, kids nuggets were ok but the chips and chicken burger were terrible. Had to visit the counter 3 times after receiving our food, 1 for salt (that was ordered), 2 for cutlery to eat the salad & 3 to return the out of date salad. The floor is covered in old dead insects we counted 6 under our table that had clearly been there a while…not the best hygiene considering the pandemic. We are asked to wear masks indoors around the zoo, but this doesn’t seem to apply to the staff. On the plus side, the staff were quite friendly, but that’s about the only good thing I can say.

This place is absolutely shocking in every way! Limited choice of food that's if they haven't already run out, very expensive and nothing really very healthy. The toilets were out of order - something I am sure is illegal in cafe with seating? The front of house manager is dressed like she's going for a night out - Body parts hanging out, dress hanging off her shoulders, bra straps visible, hands running through her long black hair every minute - awful! None of the items that I wanted were available so I went for a ham sandwich, whilst my partner went for a tuna and cucumber sandwich. Lovely clean and well maintained restaurant with friendly staff serving you. There is a veranda in one part of the restaurant area where you can walk out onto which has lovely views from it and directly below you can see the tiger enclosure. Which on a good day weather wise would be brilliant as I would imagine the tigers would come out for a stroll, but the weather wasn't too good on our visit and the tiger which we did see stayed in his/hers den and was fast asleep.

The food was absolutely dire; both poor quality and badly cooked. The fries tasted as if they had been cooked in cold oil and the wraps tasted stale. The hot food was cold and the salad was brown and limp. The service did not help matters as it was very unfriendly and it felt as if we were bothering them by asking for food. The Safari Restaurant (with "Restaurant" very much in inverted commas) is a basic cafeteria with a very uninspiring selection of paninis and oven chips dominating the menu. From it's elevated position it does however offer fantastic views over Rhos-on-Sea and if you step out onto the balcony you'll find yourself looking right down onto a pair of slightly bored looking tigers. You can take a picnic if you're visiting the zoo so I'd just pop into The Safari to take in the views rather than to eat.

So today my boyfriend and his daughter went to get crepes. When we got there I ordered 2 crepes and a milkshake. Only to be told that they were not doing anything other than waffles today. We thought okay we will just have waffles instead no big problem right? Ordered a lemon and sugar bubble waffle, there was a tiny bit of lemon juice on it, no sugar, whipped cream and a scoop of ice cream. The waffle tasted rubbery and chewy and was disgusting and I would like to add it was not a bubble waffle like ordered and this was the last one to be made in our order and took nearly 10 mins to make. I ended up ordering a plain Nutella waffle as the kinder and Oreo waffles were completely out of stock! There was no prior warning of this or the fact that they were not serving crepes or milkshakes as advertisement would lead you to believe. Again my waffle was not a bubble one as ordered came with a scoop of chocolate ice cream and the tiniest drizzle of chocolate sauce. We will definitely not return as we left extremely dissatisfied with the products we ordered for nearly £14 it was definitely not worth it. I would avoid at all costs unless you want to be disappointed
