Although a good distance from our home in west Richmondshire, we decided to try this new gastropub after an event in Settle. We love inventive menus and beautiful plate presentations in addition to great taste, and found them all here. I began with the rabbit, followed by venison, finished with a pannacotta. My wife chose two starters instead of having a main - BBQ lobster and cheese souffle - finishing with sticky toffee pudding. All were delicious and beautifully-presented. Some may complain about portion size, but we found them perfect, allowing us to enjoy 3 courses without feeling sorry on the drive home. Service was top-notch too. We'll definitely make this an annual trek.

I often think that the standard of a restaurant can be judged by the standard of their toilets. This is particularly apt in this case as their toilets are pristine & tasteful. We had the two course lunch menu, myself starting with the rabbit & then the belly pork for the main; both excellent.

We visited this restaurant to celebrate my Dad’s 80th and I had really high expectations. There were 5 of us in total and we started with the marmite sourdough which is classed as a snack. Really nice but the butter was rock hard and couldn’t be spread. Three of us ordered the prawn starter which was. £12 (see photo) my first bite of a prawn told me that the intestinal tract hadn’t been removed so I ended up with a mouthful of grit. This was the same for all that ordered it. I explained this to a member of the serving staff and they apologised and removed them from the bill, great customer service. I ordered a pork dish for my main (see photo) which I thought was tasty and well presented. 3 of the table ordered ribeye and again these were all well cooked and tasty and were accompanied by crinkle cut chips which were crispy and well seasoned. My wife ordered the lamb chops. These arrived as 2 chops which were served pink. The chops were not French dressed and the fat not rendered down so the only part edible was the small eye muscle. I ordered cheese for dessert which came with a cheese menu where you could pick your own cheeses and the ones I chose were delicious. My Mum ordered the millionaires shortbread which came with ice cream and to say this was delicious would be an understatement. Would I visit again yes I would but I would be more selective about what I ordered. What I would add that the service from the mainly young staff was excellent and they really couldn’t do enough.

We booked The Rum Fox on the strength of their website and Trip Advisor reviews. We wanted a quiet restaurant offering top quality food to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary. However we hadn't realised that they had an adjoining bar/public function room already full of optimistic England supporters who were only going to get even more vocal. We looked at each other and agreed we would have a nightmare of an evening however good the food and service was. We explained our dilemma and that we wished to leave to the head waiter in the full hearing of the open kitchen. It was then that we received the most gracious, kind and generous treatment. The restaurant insisted that we have a drink on them to celebrate our anniversary and provided us with a plate of freshly prepared nibbles. I tried to give the waiter a modest thank you which was graciously brushed aside. If the food is half as good as the manners and kindness of the management then I am sure that it will be a magnificent meal and evening. We will find out when next we are near Clitheroe!

Located in Grindleton, this pub is a gem. Recently refurbished, and a credit to the design and finish. Only had snacks as eating later in the evening elsewhere, but what an introduction to the food on offer. Fish cakes immense, taco superb. As for the potato skins, well - absolutely knock out. Lovely host too. Will be back

This was our first visit to this venue and first impressions were very good, the decor and furnishings are first class. We chose from the set menu and the food was very good, wine was excellent and quite reasonably priced. The reason I have only given 4 stars was due to the fact that the music was too loud to provide a nice ambience and the fact that a 10% service charge was added to the bill which wasn't clearly displayed either on the menu or mentioned by a member of staff before dining which may impact on people choosing added extras.

We were so excited to try this restaurant that had been recommended by our air bnb hosts. The menu was fairly limited in scope with little variation. The portion sizes were great and the food was served piping hot, but the flavours weren’t anything that left a lasting impression. The nettle soup was tasty but I thought the oil garnish could have had a stronger taste. My partner had the cheese soufflé which he thought unimpressive. For mains, I had the venison cottage pie which was a good size but the filling was on the saltier side, which I didn’t mind, but I can imagine could have been overpowering for some. My partner had the suet pudding which was delicious but very claggy and we felt could have been improved with something fresher to cut through the richness. Both dishes were served with a portion or chips and shared veg which were both fine. The service is what really let our experience down. There were plenty of staff on but they seemed inexperienced and ill equipped to meet the standard I would expect from a venue charging the prices this restaurant was. The waitresses offered no check back once we’d received our starters or mains, giving us no opportunity to provide comment should we have wanted to. We weren’t warned about the soufflé dish being piping hot so my partner burned his hand trying to move it closer. We had to ask for bill and, once we had it, had to wait 25 minutes before a dishevelled looking waiter took our payment by chance, when he took payments for 2 other tables. I can see the vision this restaurant is working towards but unfortunately the execution isn’t quite there. We wouldn’t return.

Had a lovely lunch here for my son's birthday. We took the set lunch menu, which was delicious, varied and well cooked. 😋 The actual place is a drive out for us, but worth it. It is brightly decorated in the dining room, with homage to the restaurant name scattered about. I was suitably impressed by the sound system in the toilet, fantastic!!. For us, this would be a special occasion place, as it's quite expensive, but then again you get what you pay for. They even made a special plate for my son's birthday, which was a surprise and a lovely touch. If you love good quality food, then I would suggest that you give it a try.

We booked a cottage in Grindleton this Easter Bank holiday and after getting settled in after the journey over on Good Friday, we thought we would have a walk along to the Rum Fox in the evening. We arrived to what only can be described as a very unwelcoming atmosphere. I get it there was a private function going on but after finding a member of staff, we asked if we could just have a drink and the behaviour of the waiter was very rude and very abrupt. There was nothing obviously outside to say it was shut to the general public, so we were non the wiser. He could have been reasonable and recommend anywhere else near for a drink. We walked to Chatburn and found a very friendly pub, because after all, thats all we were after.

I booked a table for two at 4.30 for Easter Sunday months prior. We arrived 10minutes early to be told our table wasn’t ready and would we like a drink at the bar, so we did. We were eventually shown to our table at 4.45 and given the menu. Prior to arriving I’d pre looked at all the menus shown on their website, Sunday lunch menu two courses for £38 and 3 courses for £42 and their Seasonal menu to get an idea of what I wanted before arriving. Nowhere on their website did it state only an Easter Sunday menu would be served for £55 for 3 courses. When we were handed the £55 menu I asked if this was the only menu and we only wanted 1 course. I was told it was but the waitress would ask if we could only have a main from this menu., we were informed we could but at £35pp. At this point we paid for our two drinks and left. I would never have booked if I’d have known the menu was restricted. If your website was up to date then this would have alleviated taking up a table when you were fully booked. I will return but I’ll make sure prior to arrival that the seasonal menu or the actual Sunday lunch menu is available.

So after following the story of the refurbishment we finally had some time to visit here for lunch. We ate off the set menu which is great value for money along with the main menu which again for the quality of food was brilliant. The team were attentive and served with personality and the food was fantastic - hopefully the photos will show this. Whilst we all visit restaurants for great food I must admit the way the team have decorated the rum fox it’s a 10/10 for me. Tastefully done and they have an outside area with a retractable roof which I thought was very clever. We will be eating here again!

We’ve been several times now - and it is always, ALWAYS, excellent. Gorgeous cosy bar area, sophisticated dining room, and bright garden room. Take your pick! The food is perfection with its own unique twist and very different to your run of the mill “gastro” pub offering. Always a pleasure- & the village has its pub back but with the addition of such a stunning restaurant. Not much tempts us away from the fab food offering in our own village (Waddington) - but this is an exception and well worth the effort.

Our first visit to The Rum Fox and it certainly won’t be our last. We were greeted by a lovely lady when we arrived and the service we received from start to finish was great. We came for Sunday lunch. The fire was roaring, the atmosphere was chilled and cosy and the food was first class without the silly prices some Ribble Valley places charge. There was a gorgeous heated garden room were you can bring your dogs, a bar area where dogs are allowed too, and a restaurant area/private dining room that looked beautiful. Even the ladies loos were one of the nicest I’ve visited! Thanks for a great afternoon.

The food, service and atmosphere is absolutely divine here. Me and my partner got the 7 course surprise tasting menu... we were very impressed! I can usually be a bit 'picky' with what meats I eat and certainly wouldn't order any which I didn't know I liked at a restaurant. I decided to give it a go, whatever it was, and enjoyed every single mouthful. We love Ribble Valley restaurants but felt here was rather special to most. Came for a family birthday meal on a Sunday. We arrived at 4.30pm and a few family members where running late. We had been asked to sit in the bar and wait as our table wasn’t ready so it worked out well with the late family members. The manager came over at 4.50pm and told us the kitchen is closing and the chefs are waiting for you, yet we hadn’t been given menus or informed our table was ready. We finally got took into the dining room 30 mins later - all the chefs staring at us because we hadn’t ordered. Felt very uncomfortable. Then the whole meal was rushed. Staff taking away cutelry without saying anything, just peering over you. It was a bizarre experience. Food and interior is fabulous but the service ruined it for us all. This was our second visit. First time no issues, second time a very strange experience which is a real shame.

Beautifully decorated restaurant. Chairs are uncomfortable if you are on the larger side as the wood digs in under the sides of your legs. Lovely double sided log fire, light and airy although I did miss there not being any windows in the section we were in, other than the skylight. Service was excellent, it would be useful to leave the menu on the table to choose wine/drinks throughout the meal The tomato and red pepper soup was incredible. Really tasty with gorgeous bread and a potato skin to die for! The roast beef was beautifully presented. The beef was very tender, it melted in the mouth. The roasties and accompanying vegetables were also seasoned very well and perfectly cooked. I wasn't keen on the vegetable mixture the beef sat on - was it leek and lardons? And the gravy could've done with being piping hot rather than warm. The Yorkshire Pudding was wonderful. Then I had Millionaires shortbread. The honey ice cream was melting by the time it arrived which was a shame but it didn't spoil this wonderful indulgent treat. The toilets are individual ones. It wasn't clear to me which was ladies and which was mens. The toilet I used which was the far end was a bit of a disgrace really. There was urine all over the toilet seat and floor. The sink area had puddles of water all over the sides. When I came out, I warned the lady waiting and she pointed out that she thought it was a male toilet. Even so, there needs to be regular checks to keep up standards you would expect at a quality restaurant like this. All in all, a very pleasant experience apart from the warm gravy and the state of the loos

What a great find!!.Lovely building with attention to detail; however the restaurant could do with a little cozi=ying up.Fittings etc are great but a little "cold" Food was wonderful.I had to have the Rabbit Kiev with was delicious-lots of herbs with a creamy sauce and a side of little gem in the style of Caesar Salad. The potato wedges with Doddington Cheese were lovely-Doddington is one of my favourites. The Oxcheek Suet Pudding was so good-the Guiness Gravy was the best Gravy I have ever had.Side veggies were well cooked and beautifully presented in their little pot.I couldn't eat the chips though, not because they weren't good, but it was a large portion and I was beaten. My husband had the Haddock Croquettes, more like a fishcake and the Venison Pepper pie main course off the set menu.Pastry was thin and crisp and once again delicious gravy. We had a fantastic bottle of Tasmanian Pinot Noir; damsons and cherries and smelt rather like port. Great value at £46.00. We will definitely be back before Xmas

The food we ate was of a very high standard. The decor is fresh and modern. A lot of care has been taken in renovating the old pub with a brand new extension. The standard of the food would be well deserving of a Michelin...

We live locally but heard that Greendale had changed ownership and wanted to try it out. We’ve since been several times for brunch and lunch and keep going back for more .. If plain menus and ordinary fare is your preference maybe it won’t suit, but if you favour culinary flair and a point of difference to the norm Greendale is definitely worth a visit. They support local producers offering a small but interesting menu. There’s always a specials variation & everything is homemade. They have an alcohol licence and even pair some of their meals with various beverages as an option. The coffee is gorgeous, & served with a little homemade shortbread… what’s not to like A little Gem right on our doorstep, with great service and ambience into the bargain! 🤗

Very friendly and welcoming staff who did all they could to accommodate the disabled gentleman I was with. For the first time ever in a cafe/restaurant I was asked if he would like a different type of mug for his coffee so he would be able to hold it better. They a wide range of food available, we will be back
