What can I say fantastic landlords. Went to watch the England game final. They had it set up with disco, and a bbq which we were more than happy to pay for but it was all totally free, great atmosphere. Very cosy feel to it.

Arrived at 6pm only to be told they were closing due to no beer or electricity, running of a generator which we later found out was giving off carbon monoxide fumes! Came back Monday and had to wait ages to get a drink due to the bar staff being out the back chatting, should be a great pub, loads of passing boats, but not run well

This Review is for The Royal Oak, Blisworth, New, NOT to be confused with the old website which has a different web Menu and serving times. Set in the pretty village of Blisworth, Northants, this could be a gem of a pub. Large garden, spacious inside. The new owners have only been here 9 weeks and only recently started serving food. We received a warm welcome and although the menu is still in its early stages the meals we both received were weĺl presented and tasted good. My steak was well cooked,my husbands Prawn Salad delicious, speedily served with a smile. I believe the new owners will bring this pub back to the standard it deserves.

Well, I was on my own and pubs nowadays are not happy with solo visiters as it is'robbing' them a profit. Most of the time you feel like you are doing something wrong when you on your own and just want a few nice drinks. I had none of that. Absolutely none of that. I was welcomed (such a warm welcome) as anyone else, drinks were literally served in minutes. Once finished a drink, there was next one on the way. They will do anything to make you feel comfortable, including moving your table to where sun is (sorry!!:)) One of the best pubs I have visitedt! And it is only few miles outside Northampton. Taxi is only a tenner. What are you waiting for? :)

New owners absolutely lovely. This pub was the highlight of our week on the canal. Full of atmosphere and really friendly local characters. As it was only their first week of doing food the menu was limited but the lasagne was the best I've had for years. They love dogs too which was a bonus. The people was very friendly definitely like your usual local which is a good thing because you feel at home immediately. I was in the function room in the back which was well lit and had enough space for everyone to be comfortable. The only thing that let down the royal oak is that the flooring needs deep clean because when alcohol spills and drys constantly it starts to let off a stench and is undesirable.

We recently held a wake in Acorn Barn. We are so glad we decided to go to The Royal Oak after looking at different options. On what was a very emotional and difficult day for family, the whole afternoon was made totally stress free for us. The barn was the perfect choice for a private function and came complete with its own bar. Everything had been organised really well to ensure the afternoon went smoothly for us, the food choice was perfect and plentiful, with teas and coffee available on arrival. Thank you Paula for being so welcoming and ensuring everything went to plan for us, also a thank you to 'our' personal barman for the afternoon. Would definitely recommend The Royal Oak and Acorn Barn for any private event or function whatever the occasion.
