Love it here. So stunning, food is beautiful and all the staff and Chef are lovely. Had quite a few special occasions spent here and every time we have never been disappointed.The owners of here and the dog house are the best with the interior design, just gorgeous inside and out and Love the vibe and look forward to booking many more times ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Lovely pub but doesn’t accept “walk ins” for food therefore if you’re wanting to eat you must reserve a table. A shame when there are empty tables & you’re hungry but can’t order food because you haven’t booked 😔

Had No starter that we ordered ( only nachos).. No curries available. ordered burgers waited well over half an hour to be told that was standard in there, then had 2 tables one of 4 & one of 6 sat down after us & both got food before we did.was told they had starters & they are quicker to do. ! ours finally turns up & the chips were warm, not hot as you might expect, think they forgot our order to be honest, but staff too young & inexperienced to deal with the customer service required. staff member said they were very busy & only had a small kitchen, we were very disapointed.

Four of us ate here last night and it was a great experience. The brisket and jalapeño pie was gorgeous with crispy flaky pastry and was served super hot. The veg and the mash were just I like with broccoli al dente and perfectly seasoned roasted veg. The staff were polite, attentive and friendly. The refurbishment of this pub is amazing giving a warm cosy ambience bringing it up to a great standard that surpasses any other eatery for miles around. Will be back, especially in the summer to sit outside in the fabulous beer garden.

This place is a hidden gem! Was told about this place and was told it was perfect for steak night at great prices!! I had the sirloin the wife had the fillet! Absolutely beautiful melt in your mouth!

Went out for a Friday night treat with this being our local. Very nice interior, great service from the two ladies serving it. We ordered two burgers and they were really poor. Bread was on the verge of stale, the burgers were dry and overdone. A shame. Likely won’t eat here again.

Went for the steak night last night, I asked for my steak medium rare. After waiting for an hour it finally came okay and was completely well done. Half of the desserts had sold out on the menu. I was pretty disappointed and probably won’t return. It’s very nice looking inside.

Can't rate this place highly enough. Food is always outstanding, the service is exceptional. Love it love it! ❤️❤️

, England, United Kingdom We booked a table a week in a dvance and gave all contact details email address and telephone number and was also asked if we wanted to sit down stairs in the bar area or upstairs in the restaurant. We turned up to the pub on time only to be told there was no booking on their system we had travelled 15 miles to the pub this is very poor customer service who ever I spoke to did not bother to log the booking a shame really as it was the first time we had visited since the revamp and looked good inside and the management did not seem to care or the staff for that matter very very poor customer service and we will not be returning again

Great locals pub with good food. What's not to like!

This was our first visit for food since the re-vamp and we weren't left disappointed. The service was top-notch; orders taken promptly, drinks arrived quickly, and there was no delay in taking away empty plates. Especially well done to all staff ferrying hot plates and drinks up those stairs all night! The food is simple pub grub; plentiful, done well and hot, which is all boxes ticked in my opinion. Will definitely come back.

Went to the royal oak for the first time ever as its local and it exceeded all my expectations I'll definitely be a regular now, lovely place.

No vegan options on the menu. Was a bit disappointed by the whole experience as I’d heard good things about the food, but unfortunately they don’t cater very well to vegans/vegetarians. There were no markings on the menu to identify which meals contained allergens or were vegan/vegetarian. I asked if the cauliflower curry was vegan and the waitress was unsure. I asked about a few other menu items which she also couldn’t confirm. After checking with the kitchen she informed me that they could do me tandoori vegetable kebabs. Wasn’t exactly what I wanted as the menu contained burgers and pies which sounded nice and could have easily been made vegan, however I didn’t want to walk out and make my friends move to another restaurant so I agreed to the kebabs. The meal itself was pretty disappointing. Just seasoned vegetables, rice and a bowl of salad without any dressing. It would have been nice to have some sort of protein in the meal such as seitan or tofu or maybe a sauce to make it a little less dry. When the bill came I saw I had been charged £13.50 for the meal, which I felt was a bit much considering I had no choice and that the meal itself didn’t live up to the standard I would expect. They agreed to charge me half price so I paid just over £10, diet coke included. The restaurant is nice and the service was decent, however regarding allergies and dietary requirements the staff seemed a little ill-informed and unprepared so I hope they can have some better food options in the future or at least be a bit more adaptable with their menu. My friends both enjoyed their meals so it was a real let down that mine was so bad.

So happy this is my local, it’s a stunning pub / restaurant. Beautiful outdoor area for the summer and gorgeous and cosy with wood burning fire places inside for the winter. Staff are all lovely and friendly and really hard working. Make the kids feel welcome. Food is great, portion sizes are huge. Just need the plates to be bigger so can fit everything on! And more gravy for the Sunday lunch please!

Came with family on Christmas Day, the food was delightful it would be impossible to go away hungry and the size of those Yorkshire puds!!!! Staff were very pleasant and helpful (especially my granddaughter who happened to be working 🤣🤣) Looking forward to another visit very soon. A great big THANKYOU

Service staff aren't the sharpest asked for menu, was given normal menu only to find out they don't serve this menu on Sunday. They only gave us this one to look at as they don't have any carvery menus available. Yet they only serve the carvery on Sunday. Decided to go elsewhere as still didn't have any, were told they are in use..... nonsense

Great place to go, we had it rented for a works Christmas party, was lovely food and service.

My husband and I went last week for a family birthday, all dishes served were excellent, so pleased we returned today for Sunday Lunch it was scrumptious.

Managed to get a fairly large group of us in at the last minute, the staff were fantastic, especially the lady who served our table (we discussed our dance school opening across the road). The food was incredible, all of us were fully impressed and would suggest The Royal Oak to anyone!

Not made to feel terribly welcome! Sat upstairs on a Friday night and told closing the upstairs - can't understand why as there were 3 tables of customers up there. Moved downstairs only to be told last orders as quiet - maybe that's because you made people leave! Hope the owners are aware that the staff are encouraging early closing

We came for Sunday lunch for my daughters birthday. Everything was lovely, the waitresses were funny and very nice and it was good to see proper roast potatoes. The only small gripe was the cauliflower cheese, I don't think it wasn't like the doghouse version. Had a great time though. Thank you x

An amazing experience post refurbishment. The food was brilliant, the atmosphere was great and we'll definitely be going back. The pub itself is well suited to be the perfect summer pub with the park for the kids and also a great cosy pub for the autumn/winter. Well done to the owners for their vision and execution of the redevelopment. Already looking forward to a pint by the fire in the winter months.

Been going regularly since they renovated and we love it! We went last Sunday, forgetting it was their first Sunday serving roasts, however they were so accommodating and got us in for food, despite not booking and then being really busy!! The roast was incredible, and served with faves such as stuffing, yorkies whether you chose beef or chicken!! The staff are so friendly and the food came quick!! The atmosphere is cosy and always playing good music! They always give treats to our dog and make a fuss of him!! It’s our new favourite local, we’ve been missing a good pub in the area like this!! Looking fwd to seeing an expanded menu in the future!

It's only been open a few months and it's probably my most visited pub. Came last Sunday for lunch without booking however staff were very accommodating and got us in with our cocker spaniel (he said thank you for the treats). We've ate twice here, one normal which we had the chicken burger. No words, outstanding! Secondly we had the Sunday roast which was good too!! Looking forward to trying this pie we've been told about 👀

Wood burner giving a warm and cosy feel. The young man behind the bar asked the chef to come out and talk us through the menu. Service was superb. The light lunch we had was pretty good as well.

We booked the outside party venue...so lovely inside, beautifully decorated...the food was really good and lots of it.....the staff were so friendly and welcoming and actually added to the lovely atmosphere.... definitely recommend.

Recently re-opened this is a grwat pub to rival the Queens Head, good local cask beers and food which is tasty and reasonable price.

What a fantastic refurbishment of a tired pub. These "guys" really have a talent and flair for the final outcome. They transformed The Dog House (can't remember it's old name), and now added The Royal Oak transformation to their portfolio. Wow to the inside, DOUBLE WOW to the outside ..... must try the the food when we can.

Visited for the first time this evening after the major refurbishment of this old village pub. It looks very different to the old world pub from before but the quality of the workmanship and finishes was exceptional. Bit of a wait at the bar for drinks and to order food. Only serving snack menu at present. I ordered a sharing platter which, when it came, was beautifully presented (and tasted lovely) but it took nearly 45 minutes to serve due to a large party elsewhere in the pub; we were given an update after half an hour. A very different experience to before and I would visit again in future.

Came in for food and waited almost an hour for stale bread. Shocking service.

Called in today for the first time since this pub was reopened about a month ago. The pub has been beautifully restored and the staff delightful. We wanted a light lunch but the menu was quite sparse (I guess Tapas style?) and the food very mediocre. My wife ordered mushroom pate which had a sloppy texture and was tasteless. I also ordered truffle and Parmesan fries. Out came ordinary fries. This was rectified in fairness but the truffle couldn’t be tasted and there was simply a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese over them. My Korean chicken was very salty and had no crunch whatsoever. Overall our experience was poor and we won’t be going back until we can see evidence of a much improved menu of better quality. This “Light bites summer menu” doesn’t cut the mustard I’m afraid. Hope it improves soon.

Greatly place for a quiet drink

Shocking from start to finish. Popped in and asked to use the baby change facility and was told that the owners don’t like children so therefore won’t be catering for children. I think this is an absolute disgrace that a business can have such a little regard for families. Wasn’t even offered an alternative disgusting.

Once a great local community pub, now ruined. The new external layout is good but the internal cramped and a bit naff. Once the first flush of have a look at the refit customers have lost interest and the weather turns they will struggle as the staff / management attitude is poor too as others have mentioned.

Just been to the newly refurbished royal Oak.The new outdoor seated area is really nice and inside is just as good .Drinks are not as expensive as other pubs in the area so I would recommend you visit and try for yourselves.

Just opened told if we were only having a drink we had to go out side. Said all the tables were for dinners . But the pub only had 3 people in. Mada to feel very unwelcome.

Lovely Sunday roast, room was a little loud.

Recently changed hands and this was the first time I'd visited since. Was not disappointed. Reasonable price on beer at £3.70 for Blue Monkey Infinity, had Sunday lunch too - booking strongly advised! Food was excellent and very generous portions. One of the best in the area. Highly recommended.

Had Sunday lunch here today for the first time and it was absolutely amazing! First of all the people were lovely and very attentive, then the food was fresh, hot and perfectly seasoned! No need for any salt at all. Lastly the price is bang on. Can't recommend the place enough!

I always love a good old pint at the Oak.

First visit, tried to ring and email to book a table but no joy, advised to book through Facebook page. We arrived at 12 and we we advised we could eat and a table was found, lovely friendly staff, behind bar and in the eating area, lovely comfy seats, room was a little chilly on arrival but once door was closed it soon warmed up. Good selection of ales, beers, guns, Food was absolutely delicious 😋, piping hot, portion sizes were huge, we had Sunday lunches, in offer was beef or chicken breast, and I had nut roast, there was lovely mash, yorkies, roasties, roast carrots and parnsips and stuffing then in a separate dish was peas, broccoli, red cabbage and then another dish of delicious cauliflower cheese, the portions as I say were huge so as for a smaller portion if your not a big eater. Deserts were a choice id sticky toffee pudding and custard which was delicious 😋 and red velvet cheese cake and you could have ice cream. A friend recommended here and it didn't disappoint!! Will definitely be back. £12.80 for a lunch and £2.80 for desert, drinks were £3.70 per pint that was for a tribute ale and a John Smith's. They have a small bar area, toilets and a beer garden.

For quite a long time ( almost 2 yrs ) , I was in a urge to visit this place , but unfortunately I didn't get a time. So last week finally I made it and it was wonderful place to sit and have a drink. Parking- 5/5 Staff - 5/5 Food - 5/5 Ambience- 5/5

Wonderful service and Sunday roast. Highly recommended and value for money. Bonus is that they are also dog friendly. We will be back again!

Nice little function room tucked out back of the pub , not many tables fit in but is a nice room. No vodka available at the bar I thought was quite strange on a Saturday night . Wasnt keen on the in house buffet, no serving utensils and sandwiches drying out.

We had heard that the Oak’s Sunday dinner was good so decided to try it and weren’t disappointed. On the contrary, very friendly staff, attentive service, all made a fuss of our dog. Prices very reasonable indeed and generous portions of meat and full vegetables. WIne very well priced. Standard of food was really high - clearly freshly cooked and my wife’s beef and my pork were both done perfectly cooked. The test is whether you would go back and we definitely would.

Second visit. This time had the Sunday roast. Food was absolutely great with nice seasonal veg and a range of puddings. Had a pint or three of Timothy Taylor real ale which was extremely well kept. Other ales on are Citra and BG Sips. Good pub all round.
