Dare say it might be a great pub, but I didn't get to find out. The Google listing showed it was open on Monday lunchtimes so after getting the bus to Lyne I walked along to the pub. It was shut, with a sign showing that it was closed on Monday and Saturday lunchtimes but open at all others. Closing at Monday lunchtimes is fair enough, there can't be that much trade around, but it took me two minutes to edit the opening times shown in the Google listing to correct them: couldn't the owners/staff have done that when they changed their hours? It looked like a good pub from the outside so I'll be along another time.

A cosy, unspoilt pub serving real ale and competitively priced food! The owners are very friendly too. This was our first visit in which we stopped by for lunch during the Christmas break, but we look forward to returning for dinner in the very near future!

Really nice, welcoming pub. Not a gastropub, but the food was very good. Decent back garden, backing onto a huge field with children’s playground at the far end. Nice to find a proper, old fashioned pub.

Absolutely lovely pub. Couldn't wish for bettter service at the bar. When we decided to stay for a meal the food come out extremely fast and was better than any Michelin star restaurant I've been to.

I was dismayed to read KC's critical review of the Royal Marine, which is a traditional village pub whose landlord and landlady, Pat and Sue, could not be more welcoming and friendly. They also provide excellent food and beer at a reasonable price. The pub is small and intimate. The review gives a completely false impression. I was at the Royal Marine with my wife and disabled father in law at the same time as the reviewer and her party. It was sometime after they had arrived that I needed to go to the gents, which I could do only by clambering over their various baby equipment, which was blocking the route. I said nothing but the landlady obviously saw the situation and came over to speak to the ladies. She was the epitome of politeness and what she said was completely reasonable. My disabled father in law uses a walking frame and wheelchair. Wherever we take him he insists that his equipment is stored completely unobtrusively. Pat and Sue are excellent with him. We cannot recommend the Royal Marine highly enough.

Went to have lunch after a baby class in the village hall. 3 of us with well behaved babies 6 months old. We were just sorting the babies before going to order our lunch and were asked by a female member or staff to "make space, as we will be having a busy session with the builders coming in soon". "We will be very busy with them and it's a small pub". This made us feel not at all welcome to say the least. Had the staff member asked if we could move our pushchairs then we would have obliged. Needless to say we left. A shame as we will be in the village hall every week and were looking for somewhere close to go for lunch nearby each time.

The Royal Marine is a quintessentially British pub. Great fresh beers and ales, affordable food and good company. A family run establishment who welcome all.

An excellent unspoilt pub in an area where hyper-expensive gastropubs are the norm. Very traditional and charmingly scruffy. Good old-fashioned pub grub. A terrific lack of poncificatiion. Hurrah. Two ales of total brand mediocrity (Speckled Hen and Greene King IPA) but a very decent Goffs Lancer also available. No local ale which is a shame and worryingly a Sharps Brewery van in the car park sparking fears of Doom Bar horror.

Just stumbled on the Royal Marine on a rainy day in Brighton. They serve four or five well kept local beers on draught and the same number of top pressure real ales. The food is Thai and is very nice, our grandson was considered a bit young for Thai and the staff recommended we got fish and chips from over the road and they would serve our food when we came back. What a good way to run a pub, just love them.

This is the second takeaway we’ve got since we move closed by - everything is absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the cholla with lemongrass, it’s so flavoursome! And the passanda too. So happy you’re our local, looking forward to dining in one day :-)

Always wrong everytime we have ordered it has come absolutely wrong !! Pizza turns up cold every time. And there customer service is absolutely disgusting. The man on the phone was rowing with my partner when they sent the wrong order they wouldn't correct it when they should have!!

Stayed in October for a weekend. The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard and the staff were very friendly. We ate in Brasserie 32 and the food was excellent. Our only complaint was although our room was comfortable albeit a bit sparce on furniture especially a dressing table rather than just a shelf, was our room overlooked a hideous building site at the back. We had booked a river view room and paid the supplement only to get a phone call a couple of weeks before saying there were no more river rooms available so we had been moved. Considering we booked this in April last year how is it there was no available rooms with a river view. We knew our room would be an alternative but didn't expect such a noisy and ugly outlook. Despite sending a complaint to customer care and complaining to Reception after checking in we haven't received any response and wasn't offered any discount. We were also annoyed that on every purchase in the bar a service charge was applied which we had to request to be removed on a couple of occasions. What is the point of having a platinum membership if you are losing the discount on your bar bill only to then spend it on service charges on every purchase.
