Restaurant - the worst service and one of the meals was actually one of the worst we have experienced in Scotland. Dry tasteless pie and cold chips - avoid at all costs.

Myself and husband have just returned from a couple of night stay Can honestly say we were presently surprised with the hotel our room was spacious clean very comfortable with a king size bed and immaculate bathroom Breakfast was average all staff were really friendly would go back again. There is a No smoking policy for bedrooms regards J & R Millar from Glasgow

Staff are just straight up confusing to deal with. Ordered the burger which comes with chips and salad on the side, requested no salad just chips and proceeded to receive a burger that was just buns meat and cheese, not even sauce??? I explained, I’m happy with there being salads on the burger I just didn’t want salad on the plate as a side, so they took the burger back and proceeded to put salad with dressing on it, in the burger, along with a bit of burger sauce??? Bitter salad dressing + burger sauce 0/10. Pie was alright but for 18 quid with undercooked veg and one potato take your money anywhere else

Spent one night at Hotel. Clean and conformable with a very decent breakfast. We were unaware that the hotel would be locked to us at 11.50. However, after several attempts at ringing the door bell and telephone calls to the hotel we were let into the hotel. Best to check with staff before going out. Otherwise a pleasant stay ☺️

Great location but that's about it. The beds were ok but this place was nowhere near worth the stay. The room was extremely outdated and the breakfast was a joke. The hair dryer, while it does exist, isn't something I'd recommend using. It might very well be 30+ yo. Overall, not worth the money paid.

Dated. Whole hotel had an odor. Nothing wrong with it as far as location, sheets were clean but the rest of our room wasn't impressive at all. Wouldn't stay there again.

I don't know why the reviews are bad; I think that this hotel is pretty good! From the moment we arrived, everything went smoothly. There are reasonable check-in/check-out times, and the staff was friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. They even provided some helpful local recommendations, which made our trip more enjoyable. One of the highlights for me was the location. I love that it's close to many shops, restaurants, and local attractions, making it easy to explore without needing transportation. Plus, the hotel offers an amazing view of the surrounding area, which really added to the experience. Waking up to such a beautiful view made each morning feel special. We paid for a premium room, which was absolutely worth it. The room itself was large, very clean, and had a modern, well-designed shower that made us feel like we were staying in a luxury hotel. Contrary to some other reviews, we found the room to be well-maintained and comfortable. Everything from the bed to the furniture felt new and fresh, and it was evident that the housekeeping staff took great care in keeping the place spotless. The food was another highlight. I was particularly impressed by the dinner we had at the hotel restaurant. The sea bass with risotto and saffron was phenomenal—perfectly cooked and tasted extremely fresh. The presentation was beautiful as well. I had read some concerns about the breakfast in other reviews, but honestly, it was perfectly fine. I opted for a cooked breakfast, and I even enjoyed the haggis, which I don't usually like! It was a nice surprise. People often say that the rooms were run-down, but that wasn't our experience at all. Everything felt clean, modern, and well-kept. Even the public areas of the hotel, like the lobby and corridors, were spotless. I do agree that the stay was a little expensive for what you get, but given the location, amenities, and overall experience, I think it was worth it. The Wi-Fi was free and fast, which is always a plus, especially since I had to do some work during my stay. I didn't experience any connectivity issues, which is rare in hotels these days. Overall, I genuinely believe that this hotel doesn’t deserve such a low rating. It exceeded my expectations in several areas, and I think many of the negative reviews are either outdated or not reflective of the current state of the hotel. I would definitely recommend it to others, particularly if you're looking for a relaxing stay in a great location with good food. And I highly recommend trying dinner at the hotel restaurant—it's definitely worth it!

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Otherwise, it's very dated and the pictures on their website make the rooms look better than they actually are. The lobby and hallways smell of old cigarettes. They don't offer room cleaning services unless you stay for at least 3 nights - which we did, but they still didn't service our room. Beds were comfy enough and shower pressure + heat was good. There is a small parking lot (7-8 car spaces) kitty corner to the hotel, but the staff at the front desk didn't explain it clearly to us and was quite abrasive. We ended up stumbling upon the parking lot a day later during our walk around town. Breakfast was fine - don't get the porridge. All-in-all, this is a cheaper hotel in Portree for a reason. The 3.7 star rating it gets on Google is very generous and it's more in line with a 2/5. If you're able to swing a nicer hotel, do it.

On arrival at this hotel we were immediately informed they don't offer maid service. The reception guy was very rude and unhelpful. We would have left if we hadn't paid £466 for 2 nights bed and breakfast. The room was certainly not superior it was small and very dated. The bathroom was tiny, towels were very small, thin and worn. There was a filthy expelair in the bathroom, shower unit was very old and had a plastic curtain. More like a 1 star b and b. Breakfast wasn't good all the fruit was tinned. We asked for poached egg on toast and there was an issue. They only served the egg we would have to make the toast ourselves put the egg on. I would certainly not recommend this hotel. I must add that when the hotel manager heard about our complaints we were offered a full night's money back this has now been refunded..

Avoid at all cost - rooms are run down, don’t bother to maintain. You won’t feel the bed linen are clean and this is a 3 star hotel - more like a hostel quality. The picture tells it all. Also no room make up service if you staying for 2 days - didn’t specify at booking. Asked for towel, wouldn’t give you If you’re looking to ruin your isle of skye trip - it’s the choice. At the end immediately forfeit the booking despite fully paid non refunded and booked a £500 last minute room at another hotel (and this hotel still cost you around £220)

The room was unusually hot and the window could only open 10 cm. Toilet had difficulty flushing. The food was delicious. Both evening and breakfast

Decent hotel with a large room for 3 and 2 beds, no sofa 👍🏼 On the other hand, the hotel restaurant is not the best! Unsmiling staff, and the food (langoustines, nothing to eat in them) and sirloin steak with a lot of fat and nerves 🤬!

Clean and tidy with attentive staff

This review is for the restaurant only! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS RUDE STAFF!! We walked in around 18:30 to a 1/3 full restaurant. The lady asked if we were staying in the hotel and told us they were too busy since not staying in the hotel. In a small town where most restaurants are full and 45+ minute waits, they obviously don’t want your business. STAY AWAY!!

Dated and dingy hotel. It was the only hotel available when we booked our trip and I can see why, the whole place smelled quite bad and the furniture in our room was very obviously worn from many years of use, the carpet was so dirty that we didn't feel comfortable walking around without shoes on, and when using the shower a reddish brown liquid ran out of the wall onto the floor of the showert. It would be more excusable at a budget accommodation, but this was the most expensive hotel of our whole trip and was by far our worst experience in all of Scotland. The location is quite good and we had a gorgeous view from our window, but it's clear there has been no efforts to make this a nice hotel, rather than just exploiting the tourists that flock to Skye and Portree. On our arrival, we were told that the restaurant was full and it would likely be the same for all others in Portree, and on our way to our room we were greeted with a sign stating that Takeaways were not permitted in rooms. So even if you can find a restaurant to get takeaway, you can't take it to your room to eat. I guess they didn't want the smells of food covering up the overall stink that hit you as soon as you entered the lobby. There was also a sign in our room to be sure to leave the room "exactly how you found it". What does that mean? Are you expecting us to wash the sheets and towels before we leave? This is a hotel, not an airbnb, I understand not wanting excessive mess or damage, but the numerous signs covering the desk in our room was as much of a turnoff as the aforementioned smell. Guests shouldn't be bombarded with signage threatening additional fees. Given how busy Portree was during our visit, I assume they will continue to sell out and will make no effort to improve guest experiences, but this hotel is quite bad.

Room was beautiful and very spacious breakfast lovely evening meal got the beer battered fish the fish was lovely peas were tasteless and chips wasn't keen on other than that all good
