Awesome best in halesowen and delivery's Awesome 2...

Hello, I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent experience at The Royal Fish bar in Halesowen. Just 10 minutes ago, I visited the establishment with only £3 spare change, as my phone and wallet were in my car. The chips had finished abd only thing left were 4 fish bites When I asked the younger women working there how much the fish bites were, they burst out laughing. This left me feeling humiliated and embarrassed and I walked out. New to area I will be using othe chip shops in the future.

It’s disgusting how much they charge for ketchup I asked for a squirt of ketchup on the side of my chips and was told to buy a tub for “50p” get out of here never had a chippy charge me for a squirt of ketchup on chips, that in itself put us off coming back! The actual taste of the food is nothing to write home about either

Ordered online paid for delivery was at the correct time piping hot and fresh and delicious The young lad that delivered was friendly and chatty keep up the good work this service you provided is superb best around from my experience thank you 👍

They have the best battered chip I have ever tried.

24 minutes to get chicken breast. Not the first time. There’s waiting then their is might as well travel to other. If other is closed and got the time to wait your choice.

Not as tasty as it used to be :(. The fish and kebabs aren't as good, but the chips are still good. Have they changed owners?

I feel compelled to write this review after utter nonsense at my local chippy. I thought I'd give this shop another try after being put off by a previous incident not that long ago. I thought I'd get my 9 year old his favourite, donner meat and chips. After ordering, I noticed they were doing a large size box. I asked for a small given his age, only to be told its one size only. I asked if they could just do me a smaller portion as it would end up being a waste of food, to which I was told, no sorry we only do the one size. I had quite a large order for a house full of guests but after asking if they would just do me half and charge accordingly and being told no, I cancelled my complete order. I won't go into the previous issue at this shop but the staff really are not welcoming and wasn't really bothered whether they lost the business or not. I won't be trying to spend my money there again.

Staff always polite. All food served is always spot on.

I havent been in such a long time and was disappointed in my fish..it was over cooked and batter so hard. Chips were lovely. Cant fault staff or service

Had one of the new loaded chips boxes (tikka) very little chicken inside mostly chips. Not worth a fiver. Won’t be going back

i have used this chippy for twenty plus years, the the kabab i had the other night was absolutely inedible, got home and it was stone cold so put it in the microwave, the meat was tough , dry and curled up , it has obviously been left some time , but also the taste was not right , it went in the bin. i was going to let it go but my wife said we should complain , which we did on Facebook messenger , their response was , 'i should have brought it back '. i am not going back out once i have arrived home. this is unreasonable. on talking to my daughter a few days later she also said she had a bad kabab and is sure they have changed supplier. things are not cheap any more and at £8 for a donor kabab it should be better.

Very disappointed paid £40 for a family meal and everything was over cooked. Large battered cod was anything but large and was more batter than cod. Not sure what’s going on with chips but they we’re rock hard and full of air. There are many better chip shops around.

£7 for a donner burger a chips, 2 slithers of dry as you like donner on a stale bun and a handful of greasy chips feel like I've been robbed!

When I’m paying £8 for a small kebab and it comes out like a piece of concrete, could off done the rest off my driveway wot they gave me , I will not be attending again, Shocking is being nice, keep away! UTV

Ordered mini fish and chips sadly the fish was thin dry and tasteless and overpriced won’t be ordering again from here.

Ordered online for a delivery from the website directly. Food arrived within the time given and was got which was a good thing. Food tasted as good as any chip shop grub we've had so have no complaints regarding the quality. The main grip with the place was four adults and a toddler had 4 meal deals and a fish cake for the child and it came to over £40. £10 for a mini fish and chips I think is an absolute rip off considering you can eat in at Harry Ramsdens for an extra couple of pounds and get a full size meal. Then they have the cheek to charge you £2.50 for delviery where most takeaways charge £1 or offer it for free when you spend so much. Sadly our last fish and chips from this shop unless they reduce their prices to something more reasonable.

Ordered online delivery, food came within a reasonable time frame and arrived warm. Only sad part is that a mini fish and chips now costs £10 and the pie and chips £8.65. For 4 and a half of us cost £40 what costs half the price elsewhere. Our favourite fish and chip shop has now sadly outpriced itself so we won't be going back

Best orange chips in the black country, sometimes. Other times they are too greasy.

Went in for large cod and chips £10.80 had to wait 10 minutes for fish to be cooked, fish was far from large, batter on the fish was not nice the chips were the worst chips I have ever had they were orange and so greacey really disappointing, I'd never go here again.

Went ordered chips and curry sauce. I then proceeded wait 10 mins for my food when all the women had to do is put in on a tray. A next bloke walked in and order chips with mushy pees and he got his food before me. Food was decent. Just long wait and no urgency from staff.

Used to be the best chip shop in town but NOT anymore. It seems to either they are under new management or the previous owners have sold it on, or they have decided to source cheap products and sell them under the same name as what it was before. The quality of the food has gone seriously downhill. Chips are overcooked, hard, taste greasy.

Food is amazing even my fussy children ate it all.. staff are amazing and polite . And owners are so lovely . Best chipshop around . I would recommend royal fish bar to anyone!! 5 stars

Always very good service from the team and a wide variety of ways to order from call in, click and collect and home delivery for a small extra fee The staff have always been pleasant when I’ve been in and food always fresh and well cooked as I love locally I have found royal to be better than some other chip shops nearby The batter always crispy and the battered chips delicious and if you go the home made tartare sauce is well worth trying! I am happy to be a royal customer of many years and would recommend to anyone it’s better than any of the negative reviews on this page suggest

Really not sure how they get good reviews. Quality rubbish, price expensive can see why it’s up for sale they just don’t care

Great food, the batter on the fish was thick, not crispy. That was the only thing that let it down.

Best in the area, chips are lovely and crispy and not too greasy. It does get busy, though, so allow for that when stopping by.

Popped in on our way back from running some errands in the area. Shop was really clean, staff friendly, service brilliant. Got home and had some of the best fish and chips ever. The kebab was amazing too. Highly recommend this place.

Awful and let’s face it you can see why it’s for sale they just don’t care anymore! So expensive. Very average food but ok if no other option at lunch but the customer service is possibly the worst. Been coming for a few years on and off and every time you are literally be ignored until they're ready to serve.

This used to be such a great chippy years ago. I find that it's getting manic in there especially with more people wanting their food delivered or collected and people who come in to order don't get that old school customer service. The quality of food is just not the same either. Some of the staff can be quite rude and ignorant and are so stoned face. I get it.. it's busy... but crack a smile at least and show you enjoy the job

1st visit got order wrong , didn’t realise until we got home. Benefit of doubt and give it another try . At 7 pm they had no doner meat . Absolute shambles , will not be returning

I ordered for a pick up and I was told 15 mins. I arrived and had to wait another 35 mins, when I asked for my money back they said it’s just coming and still I waited. They keep doing the online orders and make the people in the shop wait. I won’t be going back again the way it’s ran is a shambles.

Always busy on a Friday, but that's no surprise.Lovely food and decent portions!

I had never had an issue on a Friday or a Saturday but.....weekdays are nothing short of a joke, its like a comedy sketch watching the staff trying to perform, ive had to ask for my money back twice on a weekday, as I was waiting 15-20 mins for an order for one person. The shop is run by kids Mon to Thursday who haven't got a clue what there doing. Me and my family been a customer since the 80s, I will be taking my custom elsewhere, such a shame as it was the best around

Food was astounding here great value too

Beautiful food, fast service and at a reasonable price. Even during peak times, managed to get served and eat astonishingly fast. Parking is the only downside as there's practically none outside, however can park on nearby streets.

Have used for a couple of years now. The food has always been very nice. I popped in over the weekend and the shop was empty I was the only person ordering. 20 minutes later i was still waiting, they are most definitely giving priority to their delivery orders. When chips were finally ready they put them on their deliveries first.iff they don't want walk in customers then maybe they should close to walk ins

Chips are okay quality drop recently and dont bother preordering! Rang at 25 past for collection told 15mins get there at 45 past not ready then proceed to wait 15 mins for order 2nd time now 3rd and itll be a 1 star thoroughly disappointed

Staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and polite. Fish and meat is always cooked to absolute perfection. I travel all the way other side of Stourbridge to get my chips, only place I’ll ever go!

Just ordered 3 donner meat n chips, asked if we could have it straight off the skewer n not out the warmer as it dries the meat out. 2 out of 3 kebabs were out the warmer so dried out rubbery n horrible. 1 out the 3 was meant to have yog n mint sauce and no sauce and they even forgot the fish the chips off our order. This chip shop used to be the best in halesowen such a shame it's gone downhill. Was regular customers but won't be using you again.

Even though it was Christmas Eve, and busy, my pre placed order was ready on time, and very tasty. I'll go back again

I have been a regular customer for 38 years, so i think i know what to expect, usually very good. Today we did a pick up at 6 pm for our usual weekly order. We didnt quite get what we expected. My large cod was over cooked, very dry and not so large. Our portion of chips was smaller than usual and our large mushy peas were very watery. Not up to your usual standard. Very disappointing. Will give them a miss for a while i think.

Guys your chips are the best I've ever had but the customer service is possibly the worst. Been coming for a few years, and everytime, there's never a "be right with you". You'll literally be ignored until they're ready to serve. Just a quick Hi to show you know customer exists is all is needed :)

How rude!. Walked in tonight at 8.40 only to be totally blanked for 3 minutes. They were more concerned about cleaning down . Would it have hurt just to say , be with you in a minute.walked out and went to hasbury chippy instead. Customer service going down at the royal chippy , last week waited ages for my food even though nobody was in the queue. If they have loads of online orders and deliveries they should give a heads up on the wait time.

went for ford with my child and gf who is pregnant and that left her standing there in the que for ages then told her her order was to big and there closing in 10 mins absolutely disgusting service won't be returning again just a heads up for others as this is my local chip shop and isn't the first time the food or service has been bad this has done it for me now i hope others will spend hard earnt money in a better place where that appreciate the custom.

Nearest place to us in Northfield that do orange chips! The gentleman that served us was lovely. Definitely be back, other staff members need to follow suit. .

First time here, food freshly cooked, efficient ient staff

Speedy delivery and a generous portion. Chips tastes fresh and were piping hot still. Curry sauce was amazing. Could’ve done with a touch more vinegar, but nothing that can’t be fixed at home. Would recommend.

What have they done to the food? Chips were tasteless, Fish was grey & fell out of the batter. I was the first in the takeaway today at just before 4 and had to wait 10 mins for the chips. Fishcake was bland. Will not be visiting ever again

We booked to go to Birmingham for the weekend and to finish with a visit to the Royal fish bar , without knowing that there were new people in charge! As the last ones were lovely and friendly ,and found out it had been sold and taken over, my hubby went to get ours and had to wait for a while ,and thought we were in for a treat but no the opposite infant the chips were awful and no real taste at all and the fish wasn't nice either and they didn't even speak to him the whole time he was waiting , so don't waste your hard earned money on a meal you won't enjoy as we didn't!!! So that's it for us no more visits to there anyway.

Prices are good. Food quality is excellent and staff are friendly. Would recommend.

Arrived at the shop bang on time to collect my order and told them my name etc. The woman said she'd shout me in 5 mins. 25 minutes later of waiting outside and i went back in to see what was going on to realise theyd forgotten about my food and it was just standing there going cold. The same woman asked me if id told them i'd arrived when i got there. This was very frustrating! To top it all off, i get home to eat to find out its obviously quite cold but also disgusting! The meat was shriveled up, dry and tasted off! The chips were probably the best part but there was hardly any in there and, to be honest, it was a total rip off for the price! My advice would be avoid as there are better chippys around the area with much cheaper prices

Delivery is rubbish. Waited an hour and half, they don't answer the phone when you call to enquire. They replied "on its way" with no explanation as to why the delivery was running late. When the delivery came the delivery person was nowhere to be seen. Food was left outside on the floor before we answered.

As always top fish and chips. Top service, Lovely staff and a credit to the food industry in general and we love you here in Halesowen :)

Absolutely stunning fish and chips.. They just keep getting better and better....

Went here on the 24th of January 2021. the place was very busy but even with online orders, takeaways and what not i did not have to wait too long all things considered. the order was some chips, a potato scallop, curry sauce and a battered sausage. First thing to note is the chips are also battered which to me was fantastic but can put some people off. They where amazing with a great crunch on the outside and soft, fluffy inside. perfect for my taste. portions where very generous too so always good The scallop was a bit soggy on the batter but i think it was just a tad bit old. still tasted great and was quite big as well. The curry sauce was pretty mild and a bit sweet. not too runny. overall very good. The battered sausage was lovely and crunchy on the outside and still very juicy on the inside and also again a generous size. Overall i would say this is a great chippy and can definitely see why it had such a a wait but dont let that put you off it will be well worth it.

Seriously £3.99 for large chips complete rip-off how do you justify that price. When a massive 25kg sack of potatoes only cost around £3.50 it may even cost less to traders. The other thing all chippy seems to have similar same prices could it be price fixing?

A decent fish and chip shop, my wife prefers the chips here to anywhere else and the portions are decent. I would go more often, BUT ... My only complaint - and the reason it stops me going - is they take priority over internet and phone orders than they do walk in’s. Stood for nearly 20+ mins recently before even being acknowledged, which i felt was really poor - I was standing IN the shop looking at them! Tend to go other local places as better service.

I've had better Frozen Chips and the Sausage was full of Gristle. Never in a million years will I be eating anything from this Place again. Avoid.

I visited this chip shop at about 9pm on Wednesday 14/10/20 and ordered a large cod and chips. The portions were already cooked and wrapped up in paper, they were then kept under the heat lamp. Once I got home I saw that although I had paid full price, the portion was a mini fish and chips, the fish measuring just 4.5" in length and it was very very cold, I had to micro wave the serving. Not a nice experience.
