ordered 2 breakfasts today which came very fast which I can’t complain and the food was nice but the customer service was horrible slamming the plates and drinks on the other end of the table, I still used my manners however get ignored even as walked out no thank you back or anything very ignorant, just doesn’t hurt to have manners and make your customers feel welcome. Normally isn’t like this when I’ve been before but I am not pleased with my experience this time.

Oh My Word... The worst place I have ever ever ordered from! Received a ready made meal of Shepherd's pie quite literally in the ready made meal container! In absolute shock food was awful! Avoid at all costs! Unbelievable

Cute and cozy cafe. Great service and food at affordable prices. The food was prepared on time. We loved the hot chocolate and whipped cream and the chocolate cake and whipped cream. There is a separate menu for kids and an assortment of hot and cold drinks.

Why did I bother to leave delivery instructions when the deliverer didsn't read them or get in touch? The food was cold and I chucked the tea away. I deserve a refund.

Cold food staff are not doing jobs spoke to manager and told me could walm up not make new ones 27 pound down after 1 sausage

Came in with my family after a day out at the deep, very quiet which is nice because everywhere else was busy which is expected on a saturday, the man who took our order seemed like a nice bloke, very friendly however the food werent the best, dont get me wrong the kids meals are big portions but the adult portions sizes doesnt reflect the prices paid, i got the mixed grill for £13 and it had missing items and lots of fat on the plate and i ordered a portion of chips i never got.

Paid £10 for a veggie breakfast. Was hardly anything on the plate and for some reason they randomly added a veggie burger and Yorkshire pudding to a breakfast?!?!

Great cafe. I had a cheese and ham panini, which comes with salads, tasted amazing. Close to the station. If I would ever visit Hull again I would go to The Royal Cafe again.

Absolutely awful and cheap quality stuff

Just had a fabulous breakfast. Everything cooked just how we like it. I was a bit worried when I noticed the 3.5 in reviews but there was no need to be. Even the pot of tea was a delight. A yummee delicious belly full!

I ordered a mixed grill. £17! Includes chicken burger, chips, onion rings, salad, beans, sausages, bacon. However, they did NOT deliver any burger, chips or onion rings. All I have is salad, bacon, beans, bit of chicken breast pieces, sausages. Where’s the main part of the food? The burger, chips and onion rings? I tried to call multiple times they didn’t pick up. Requested a refund through justeat but tbh all I wanted was my food. But all I have are bits for a total of £20 with delivery. So annoying guys!

Did not come with chips came with salad and coldslaw. Need to update the menu. So £14 for panni, salad, and onion rings (ordered exta) well is it worth it????

Disappointed with the service went with my partner around dinner time and was not busy. The young male who served us was not friendly and abrupt. Charged us extra for a can but stated they will just swap the tea and coffee for a can. Been before and the owner was lovely sad to see it’s went down hill

Plenty of menu items and very reasonably priced . Staff are very nice and helpful. Food was delicious and served hot n fresh . Big portion size . Can't fault it . Place is also very clean . Definitely returning.

Food was not good I’m afraid,bacon wasn’t cooked sausages was cooked a week ago they was so hard,hash browns was just like biting into a chip pan,absolutely gutted as I’m pregnant and really fancied a fry up but can’t stomach cooking one so thought I’d get one done,that will teach me a lesson eh

Would give 0 stars if I could. Appalling food and service. Ordered a panini that stated it came with chips and coleslaw, the chips was missing and when trying to contact about the missing chips they didn’t answer. Food was cold when it arrived, the ‘three cheese panini’ was also missing the cheese and the small amount of cheese that was in it was sliced cheese which was awful. Onion rings also cold. Would not recommend especially for the price.

Ordered a panini which specifies it comes with coleslaw and chips. It arrived with no chips. Tried to contact the café to rectify this and the contact number did not even ring. I am not happy with paying nearly £7 just for a panini when it states it comes with chips. There is no other way to contact them. Very disappointed.

Paid £6.80 for cottage pie that was worse than dog food and still served in it's microwave packaging. Absolute rip off for appalling food.

What amazing food.... we had chicken kebab with salad chips and onion rings and WOW!! the taste was fantastic!!! Perfectly cooked chicken and the portion size was brilliant I couldn't finish mine. Will definitely be coming again xx

I bought breakfast, I paid 20 pounds and he wanted to spend me paying 10 pounds .. When I got the change I got burnt eggs.

Very nice place got my order right first time food was amazing tea was lovely. Staff are every friendly helping me out on were is a nice place to go look at or for bars for a person who not local here is the place for you.

I have used this cafe loads of times. Manager and staff are very nice people. The food is first class. Cold drinks and hot drinks well priced. Love the food.

We always try to support independent businesses, went in for breakfast today. 2 Full English. 2 tea. Under £9. Not bad. BUT. 1 sausage, small , little overdone, but the highlight! 1 tiny piece of bacon which was so overcooked, it snapped when you tried to get it on the fork, mushrooms, all 4 where cooked within an inch of their life, egg, crispy bottom, snotty undercooked yolk, and the beans and tinned tomatoes where mixed together , and cold. The toast arrived 5 minutes before the meal, and the tea, well, served in cups that were no bigger than a kids tea set I would really not recommend this place, no one asked how the meal was, even though barely ate anything, and the staff clearly saw this, but never asked. Go to spoons, across the road, you'll not regret it.

Food was disgusting I ask for tuna mayo and just got mayo the plate was swimming in water. When I went to pay they saw the plate of food had not been touch but did not ask why. They did not care

Went today with my mum and dad. They've both been before and enjoyed the food. I ordered a wrap meal and it was very nice so I can't rate down the food. However.... And I really hope this is seen by the staff! My dads food came followed a few minutes later by my mums. Around TEN minuite later when my mum and dad had pretty much finished mine arrived. We didn't get an "enjoy your meal" or "can I get you anything else" (I'd have quite liked some mayonnaise had I being given the chance to ask) but no off she went back to the kitchen where we didn't see or hear from her again. There's certain common courtesy traits that are needed in a customer environment such as a cafe. The service I got was terrible. It's only small things that need fixing but those small things such as a please and thank you from staff with be the difference in wether people come back.

absolute joke that its £5.50 for a quick bacon sandwich and coffee while running for train!! have plant of time because it takes a while!! for some reason there was only 2 small circles of bacon in a beadcake they cut everything else off it!! which is fine if I'd had asked for it like that but I didn't!! so you end up eating bread!! the menu is crazy!!! and way to expensive for what you end up getting

Terrible customer service from Management. Upon advising them how we were not satisfied with our food as it was disgusting, the reply was “Oh right”. No apologises, no refund, no nothing. Not professional at all. Will not be returning. Avoid, unless you enjoy tasteless reheated frozen food.

Very tasty food and friendly staff

Went today with my partner , was very happy with price...But the food not happy at all. £8.50 for two breakfasts and two tea's But the toast was cold the eggs were undercooked on top and had to send them back to cook a bit more then when we got out breakfasts back the tomatoes and beans were really cold? We didn't send it back a second time as the first waitress pulled a face the first time we did it. Won't be returning, sorry.

Went for a breakfast with my Dad, food was lovely and well presented and the service was excellent and friendly. Good atmosphere and comfy tables, we were very impressed with the place.

First of all, the menu is highly over priced for the food that is served.

Went in for a breakfast for two (this included tea for two) price was good, served almost immediately by a totally disinterested Waitress who gave the impression she did not want to be there. Food wasn't spectacular, will be a long time before we go there again.

Came for breakfast looked ok decent price for 2 breakfast with toast and tea or coffee it ended there . Waitress totally disintrested (I use the word waitress loosely) . She eventually came to our table and just flung the menus on the table and walked off my son and I chuckled to ourselves. We where ready to order but didnt bother to come so we went and ordered at till (would have normally walked out by now but was early and we where hungry) . The tea came was nice then the toast then the breakfasts one at a time obviously cant carry more than one just dumped on table no smile nothing . Food was adequate for price . Left 15 mins after finishing plates still on table . Wont be returning obviously but if I had the money I would by the place it could be a gold mine run by proper people .

We were greeted quite warmly by the waitress, the meal we chose was very good and served quickly. Quite an interesting little café. Recommend it for a quick and cheap meal.

Stopped here for a light lunch before doing some shopping in town and chose a typical panini and jacket potato with salad and coleslaw using the waitress service. Both the meals and drinks were all right without being anything special. Much like the score on the door that was not quite the top rating.

Had an appointment at Castle Hill hospital and as I didn't eat much all day was quite hungry afterwards. Popped in here with my partner and we both ordered cheese omelettes, came with salad and chips and was just what we needed. Decent sized portions and the service was very friendly. It was just one person who I think was the owner and he was very polite and cheerful. Next time I'm in Hull I may pay this café another visit. Very satisfied with everything.

Had a vegetarian breakfast today and had runny raw eggs asked the waitress to have them replaced and she advised against it when I queried that she when on to explain that they don't even get tips payed to them by the owner and they don't get wage slips and all wages are cash in had. and can't even pay tax as this will affect others.

Went here this dinner time place seemed clean and tidy gave the lady our order my daughter asked for chicken and bacon sandwich in bread when they brought it it was chicken tika with burnt bacon and a dollop of mayo in a breadcake we complained the woman said he always maranates his chicken in this although my daughter overheard her say they only had this kind of chicken! We asked if we could change it and was told they had to ask the boss then abruptly walked off!! She came past again never said anything so we asked if we can have tuna in bread eventually he had agreed so then came a tuna sandwich in a breadcakes! ! Never in my life have I had such bad customer service will never use this cafe again we should have gone to fashion cafe as planned but this one was empty now we know why!!

Food dosnt taste good, got a full english and the sausages tasted like salt litterally. Only thing that was decent on thr plate was the beans. Woukdnt recrommend honesly.

Estábamos buscando un lugar diferente para desayunar cuando encontramos este pequeño café. Fue a primera hora de la mañana, así que era muy tranquila. La señora estaba sola, pero ella era excelente, rápido y eficiente. El café estaba muy limpia, y la comida era muy sabrosa. Sin duda vale la pena probarlo. :)

Very good I recommend the two for one breakfast for 8.50 we got two large for 11 it was great :) delicious too! 6 pieces of toast, 2 cups of tea and two breakfasts with 2 eggs, 4 pieces of bacon, 2 hash browns, 2 sausages, mushrooms, beans and a little bowl of tomatoes each :D

Overpriced, egg chips and beans slice of bread and milkshake 7 quid.

I liked the place. I went with my friends, and we did not have to wait for long to get our orders. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Overall, I recommend it to those who are looking for a true English Breakfast

very disappointing. the premises smelt very strongly of detergent. some may consider this clean. except it was very overpowering to the point where you believed you could taste it. then the water in the coffee was so hot it burnt the top of my mouth. i do believe Mcdonalds were sued for having water at this temperature. bad practise guys

The feeling of the cafe is great you can just sit back and talk. You almost forget where you are.The food is good and hot . It is plain but delicious. The place is on I would take anyone there a d it's a meeting place for my weekly catch up with friends.

The cafe's I usually used were full to the brim so I decided to pop into this cafe. I naturally was alarmed as to it not even being a quarter full on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered 2 X full English breakfast's. Absolutely disgusting. Tons of cheap beans. Eggs undercooked, all meat over cooked. Stuff offered no sauces & the toast was after we had finished our meal. Very disappointed.

My husband & I ordered the deal of 2 breakfasts for £8, which included tea or coffee and toast. The food was lovely and hot and we were served really quick. There was ample food on our plates. We both really enjoyed it. The staff were also really friendly and polite. We will definitely go again and would recommend to anyone.

The staff are lovely and polite. I don't like to leave 3 stars as its not saying it's good or bad. But this place is very average. We had 2 breakfasts for £8.00 which is good. We just wanted something quick and easy to eat. The food was average it is what it is. Nothing outstanding but edible all the same.

The royal cafe is one of those friendly local greasy spoon type cafes. I had a regular breakfast here which I really enjoyed - and great value as it comes with a hot drink, though I wish I got the larger one. Only breakfast I've ever had with both beans and tomatoes! Staff are very friendly and there is a nice, local ambience about the place. Definitely recommended for visitors to Hull.

Me and my mother visited for lunch I had the lasagne and she had the cottage pie, both were FROZEN meals or if not they were made to taste just like one. I felt like Gordon Ramsay and that I should demand to go through his fridge and freezer and check the hygiene of the place.I usually don't like to leave bad reviews as I believe in promoting the city as much as possible but this is something I had to say. The only positive to this place was the waitress was lovely.
