We had fantastic wine, great food and excellent service from Louise. The location is beautiful as well. We had such a nice evening and we’ll definitely be back again.

The setting is perfect with a number of seating areas the right buy the vines with views across the vineyard to the downs beyond and woodland on the other side. The seating is mostly covered, but the heaters meant that even on a cool September lunchtime we were warm enough. They could lower covers on wind facing sides if it got too cold. In the winter it all goes inside. I am not normally a sparkling wine drinker, but it would have been rude not to try some, and it was very quaffable. I also had local Brighton brewed pale ale and the Rose which was made from grapes from the estate. All very good. We had a number of tapas portion...pork, beef tacos, cheese plate, croquettes breads and some nibbles, all of which were delicious and while the waitress recommended 3 each, we only need 5 between 3 of us to feel full. The service was excellent, and when combined with food, drinks and setting I would rate this as one of the best places to have a meal in mid sussex.

We had a group wine tour at Ridgeview winery followed by late lunch/early dinner at the restaurant. We preordered for 14 of us and everything was correct and came out timely. All the food was really delicious, the portion sizes were bigger than I was expecting for small plates. We shared 1fish & 2meat dishes with 2 sides and that was plenty for a couple. All the staff were so nice and friendly it really made us feel welcomed. On a sunny day this is a great spot for lunch or dinner.

This is a really lovely cafe and tea room, particularly in the summer when you can use the courtyard garden. The real negative about it is the appalling way they dress their waitresses. They are all in Victorian style maids uniforms with aprons, so disgraceful in this day and age that women are expected to dress in this way. I’ve never seen any male staff there but if there were would they really be dressed as Victorian servants? So derogatory to women I’ve now started to go to the Green Welly down the road which at least appears to treat their staff with more respect. In light of the owners response I would like to add that I had no idea this was a 1940s themed cafe, obviously there’s a Vera Lynne room but otherwise it’s just a quirky cafe. Not sure where the piles of cakes, tea garden, huge breakfasts and avocado smash fit into a 40s ration book theme but these are welcome additions if not the treatment of serving staff.
