Just been for Sunday lunch. Fabulous food, reasonably priced and great service.

I cannot recommend this pub enough. Looking for somewhere that was dog friendly on our way home for something to eat and found this gem. Top quality, freshly cooked Sunday roast followed by one of the best apple crumbles I've had. The chef even cooked a sausage for our dog. All the staff were friendly and professional. We just dropped in but I'd recommend booking as it's very popular even on a wet Sunday afternoon. Great work, keep it up 👍

Lovely old inn serving amazing varied food. Excellently cooked by Chef Dan . Remember to view the specials board . Dan Is always happy to make adaptions if possible. Kay , the landlady , is very friendly and welcoming . I’m sure you will be impressed . So why not give it a try.

Went for Sunday Dinner with my elderly parents and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, everything about the experience was great, top quality food, great value and exemplary service - a wonderfully cosy pub too, 10/10.

Great food and drink, fantastic village pub

We visited here after seeing it advertised by The Old Post Office, which after having great experiences there time and time again we thought it has to be good. And it was more than just good. Huge dishes filled with high quality ingredients, the steak and ale pie was on another level. Plenty of gravy, tonnes of flavour and just all round a top tier dinner. My girlfriend had a lasagna which was equally as tasty (and filling). The lady serving us was super friendly, had great conversation and nothing was too much trouble. I even visited on a Thursday which allowed for their promotion of 20% off our bill so for two main meals and two drinks was under £30!? I'll be back here as soon as I can be.

Great food ,good ale! But it's the staff that make it a proper pub and you'll not regret visiting 😉

Amazing food and lovely atmosphere

What an excellent little find this was! Beautiful pub doing a truly excellent Sunday Roast that was well priced and worth every penny. No-one went away hungry and there were even a few morsels left over when we couldnt manage another bite, an almost miraculous occurance for our family! Many thanks to both the front of House and kitchen teams for hosting is fro such a lovely Sunday lunch and for fitting us in and moving things around to accommodate a larger than average group at less than 24 hours notice. The beer was also kept very well. Would recommend anyone visiting the area to give this place a go

Went above and beyond to provide a lovely place to have a great meal. Good was beautifully cooked and presented. Plenty of extra gravy and cauliflower cheese for every table... Must've been good... The whole family was quiet (for a few minutes at least !). The staff were happy and very friendly and good cake it really quickly and efficiently. Couldn't have asked for more. Thank you.

Walked into pub and my wife and I instantly felt very welcome. Locals and bar staff keen to acknowledge us and get to know us. This is a pub with a very nice friendly atmosphere and decent range of beers on tap. Food reputed to be excellent.

Fabulous Sunday lunch, roast beef and all the trimmings was the best we’ve had.

We visited for the first time today. What a lovely place! The food was great. The two ladies running the bar are lovely, they made us feel really welcome 😊 We got to taste/critique complimentary cocktails in preparation for the bank holiday weekend. They even made a complimentary mocktail for our 6 year old boy so he didn't feel left out! Highly recommend x

I have a lovely meal. Only down side the portions of my food was big. But all very tasty & reasonable price for quality. Also had a good selection of drinks.

Lunchtime we were looking for somewhere to eat after visiting Fox Valley in the morning We saw the roadside advertising and thought we'd go and have a look A small village pub is what we found still with some of its old charm and fittings not a stripped out modernised gastro pub thankfully Friendly knowledgeable staff not a large selection of beers but something for everyone and well kept There's a specials board and a good menu I had the lamb shank which was excellent my partner had the scampi which was good The prices are reasonable If you're passing that way call in or ring up and book a table to be sure

We were going to the Lord Nelson but as we passed we noticed that this place did food so called in. A lovely pub with regular drinkers around the bar, a proper pub. The young lady behind the bar was very friendly and attentive, a credit to the place. The food was lovely and fairly priced. We will be back.

The young waitress Poppy is outstanding, outstanding food worthy of an award.

Came for our Christmas Day Meal, we were in a room at the far end of the pub which was very sparse and apart from two bits off tinsel on the wall you would never off known it was Christmas Day which was a big disappointment especially for children. No effort had been made apart from spending about 50p on the tinsel, don't think we would come back on this day again, sorry.

Horrible. Had to wait 40 minutes for an overcooked burger with lousy chips. Not to mention the "burger" had nothing except for a thin slice of cheddar and one or two salad leaves. Prices should reflect the poor quality of the food, instead they're relatively high ( 11£ for the cheese burger). Very disappointing.

Haven't used the restaurant we go on a Tuesday they do a very good quiz night

Waited over 35 minutes for a mediocre sandwich... it wasn’t very busy. The bread was somewhat “day old” it texture. Slow service, food not great and terribly long wait for an empty restaurant. Side salad was a token effort. Chips tasted like old fat.

Popped in here for a bank holiday pub lunch with friends and it was perfect. Relaxed feel, very friendly and attentive staff, and food was great. Kids menu had good sized portions and the starter Yorkshire puddings and gravy was amazing. Would definitely recommend.

Saw the sign while driving back to Hull from Manchester and popped in. Awesome steak and everything else on the plate. Extremely clean and welcoming. I will drive there again and take my friends. I can't recommend it enough.

Took my wife and 2 young children as backroute lunch stop off between Sheffield and York. Friendly staff who were very accommodating. Relaxed atmosphere and food was fresh quality. Would recommend and intend to revisit.

We booked our Father’s Day meal here and wow, very good value food and service, the food was fantastic (homemade pate, steak, mussels) it had a good fish selection too. Well done to everyone who is apart of that great establishment, thanks for the great experience

Lovely Sunday lunch time drink sat outside in the sunshine. Clean interior and toilets. Busy with diners and drinkers. Ample car parking spaces. Did not eat today, however the food looked and smelt lovely. Nice drink of Farmers Blonde beer.

We've just enjoyed a beautiful dinner here. I'd not been before myself, the staff were incredibly warm and attentive,the chef himself came out to talk about the menu,the food was sublime and the atmosphere was wonderful. Couldn't give it,and the staff,a better review.

First time we have had a Sunday lunch here (which was delicious) and had a great wine with a nice real ale. This down to earth pub has friendly staff and locals with a warm welcome to everyone and their dogs. We will definitely be coming back again soon.

Always cosy, beer is carefully selected by someone who knows what they're on about (as much as you can when you're an Enterprise Pub) and the owners really care about providing a good proper pub.
