Fabulous pub the landlord is a great guy very friendly and bends over backwards to help

The fella and his misses who own the place are brilliant. I stopped off there one afternoon with my misses and had something to eat there, couldn't fault them or the place.

Website says food service times until 8pm, but kitchen is closed 7.15 ... wasted trip

Called in today for Sunday Lunch with family. The landlord and his team were extremely friendly, and attentive, and provided drawing materials to entertain my two young boys. One of our party is a coeliac, and the kitchen team couldn’t have been more helpful in seeing that the meal was gluten free, and more so giving them confidence about it. The cheese and onion pie was one of the best i’ve ever had, and the cask beer was extremely well kept. It was great to see how welcoming the team were of young children, which we appreciate can be trying for other diners when eating out. The new team at the Rope are getting things right, and our family left agreeing we’d been well hosted and had enjoyed a very positive experience. Thanks to all the team. We will be back soon!

Very Nice Pub Very Local and easy to get to Staff are very nice and friendly and there’s a very nice atmosphere.

Lovely warm welcome from the owners, Super dog friendly. (Allowed on non carpeted areas). Lunch was freshly cooked. Staff brought treats and water for our pet. Relaxed and cared for. Will be back!!! Thanks!!

Went in for a quiet bite at dinner time on Sat. Plenty of choice for lager and the wife was even happy with the Sauv Blanc (a rarity). Triple cheese pie was top drawer and the sticky toffee pudding was lovely (custard, cream or ice cream). Service was really good throughout and prices more than reasonable! Would come again, no probs

We called in rope and anchor yesterday for a Sunday lunch have to say it was amazing really tasty and plenty of it and piping hot. The landlord and staff were very welcoming always making sure everything was alright. Would definitely recommend.

A super pub with great beer and fantastic service. Food is very good and served with smiles, excellent attentive service. A nice steak cooked perfectly as requested and served with perfect chips. Loved that the kitchen staff came out to check if all was ok with the food. Super service and worth a visit 🤩

Took my parents here for tea and it was spot on. The batter on the fish could have been crispy though my only fault. 😁

Stopped off there, traveling from stoke to Leeds, Nice staff, friendly drinkers in there, had fish n chips, a burger which were great, I got a pie which wasn't great, but I'm not complaining 🤣 5 star boozer👍

We've been In the Rope and Anchor a few times as a family and had food. Each time we've really enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere was brilliant, the service and food was amazing, but most importantly the landlord was so engaging, friendly, and tonight my son and partner came in, and the landlord encouraged my son to play darts with them, he's buzzing and really enjoyed himself!

Had a lovely meal here today with my brother. Food was brilliant and Chris was very accomodateing. Will definitely be back.

Went for a Sunday dinner with 3 friends today . It was gorgeous 😋 plenty of meat and everything else was lovely too. ( especially good that the food came on hot plates too ) Staff were very friendly and attentive . We had a lovely afternoon sitting outside after our meal sitting in the sunshine 😎☀️ definitely recommend 👍

Visited the Rope three times since it’s reopened and can not fault the service,food or atmosphere. We have been with our newborn baby and the staff have been really accommodating/friendly, the food has been lovely having tried the roast dinner, steak and gammon. The manager has always been behind the bar or checking on customers, very friendly and couldn’t have done more for us! 100% recommend.

Visited here yesterday with my 6 yr old and partner (both fussy) for the first time since the refurb and tbh after reading the reviews i was skeptical but I'm glad I gave benefit of doubt cos the food was absolutely stunning, 1 of the best Sunday lunches iv had out and the service was happy,welcoming & family friendly my son spent the whole time playing with the L/Lords grandkids. Booked a table for next week already as its a rare to find pub that dosnt have kids running wild but is still family friendly and the food is stunning.

Since the new landlord has taken over The Rope, it's become a crackin pub. Food, especially Sunday lunch, is great. Would highly recommend it.

Doesn’t deserve any stars! JW Lees say their pubs are welcoming. The Rope and Anchor in Woolston was far from that last night. We were treated appallingly by the manager who was rude, judgemental and unreasonable. My friends and I have been going to the Rope for over 20 years and have never experienced anything like it. Shame to see this happening to a local pub.

Very disappointing treatment from the manager yesterday. This has been our local for 20plus years, we have always enjoyed a friendly welcome but were treated appallingly by the new manager. Sweeping, negative judgements made about our lovely 22 year old daughter and her friend. Not happy. :-(

New owner has ruined our local pub. Came in here for my first legal drink over four years ago and have always been coming in with my family since I can remember. Came here after the races yesterday and out of a group of 10 adults me and my friend were told to leave because we were “underage and drunk”. Didn’t even give us the chance to show our ID and prove we are 22 and provided no justification for why we had to leave, he simply judged us based on how we looked. The rest of the group (my mum and friends) weren’t happy with this so asked for a refund on drinks they had just bought and stated we would go elsewhere as it was very unfair as we were neither underage or “drunk”, he didn’t like that so he’s supposedly put us all on pub watch and barred us for 25 years🤣 Shame the old owner was lovely and we used to love this pub. Ps. Would give no stars if I could!

The new landlord has ruined this once vibrant welcoming local pub. He has a huge attitude problem, is unwelcoming, unfriendly, is abusive and rude. He is quick to judge and barr good people and customers on a whim with no evidence at all. Please avoid and go somewhere more welcoming.

Order whitebait fish starter this came with the eyes in I said I couldn't eat this they said there was nothing they would do about it. Would not recommend this at all.

Great atmosphere . We ate here for the 1st time Friday 19th April and food was really good. I think Chris & Kath have done a good job in getting this pub thriving again. Is good to see and happy to visit a bit more

If I could give this 0 stars I would. The manager woman (blonde hair and glasses) was so rude and aggressive. We had just walked in and she was determined we buy a drink straight away and refused to move until we stood up to buy a drink or we had to leave. Was so disrespectful to the point we got up and left ourselves. Would never return back after that awful service.

Just had the worst experience here. Sat down for 5 minutes to be bombarded with a short woman with messy blonde hair shouting at us to all show our ID. She stated if we didn’t have them we had to buy a soft drink. She shouted multiple times that they weren’t a “drop in centre” and repeated that we had to buy a drink. Rudest customer service I’ve ever experienced. Who ever the manger is needs take a look at herself before speaking to people in such a rude way. We left straight away and got laughed at. If I could give no stars I would it’s disgraceful

Visit here weekly with somebody else when at work. The service Is always fast and friendly and nothing is too much hassle. The soft drinks are reasonably priced...some pubs are charging £4 plus now for a coke. The food is allways fresh and plenty of branded condiments...non of the cheap sachet stuff. The owners always let on and make us feel welcome each time. Keep up the good work - 5*

Looked on the site and saw it was open at 11:30.I arrived there and not open until 12.Got a pint and sat down in the booth and was told to move as i had work gear on.I had not been in the pub since it had been refurbished and will never go in again.They need to take a look at the old landlord and staff who were excellent.

It's just reopened with new staff and new management. Not at all worth spending the money they have on the place! And they seem to be messing around with when and where people can sit too, which in some circumstances would fit. However, it's a pub in Woolston at the end of the day. The new staff aren't very inviting and the new owner/boss looks like he's on day release. Two ladies walking round in trousers and polo's. Meanwhile he's rocking trainers, shorts and t shirt. Lead by example in your new venture pal and put your milk bottles away. The offer for 3 small plates/starters for £15.95 isn't very impressive with only 5 or 6 to choose from, its not like they're cooking everything fresh so the choices could be more. I didn't bother. Salt n pepper Chicken fries and fries was ordered in the end. Very odd sauce choice, mint yoghurt.... with salt n pepper chicken with, wait for it...... a quarter, yes, a quarter of a tortilla wrap 🤦‍♂️ The side of fries cost £3.95 and I was definitely expecting more than what I got. Definitely not fresh, but bulk bought. Tasted like my high school chips I got for 1.50. We saw one customer walk out and another table send back the food they had been served (not sure why though). I'm going to be honest and say the staff need to be a bit happier or at least try in front of customers. Finally it seems the pub has gone upside down. Beer is decent, foods gone terribly wrong. Will I return? Maybe, but only for a passing pint.

Prices slightly high. Food as well although tasty enough. No problems with staff. Have been here before and would vote again.

Super friendly staff stayed in car park in our motorhome and just had drinks. We did call ahead to check it was ok.

Come up for work had drinks and a meal staff was lovely and welcoming and food was amazing good priced.

Fantastic meal . Food cooked to perfection , piping hot. Liam the chef even came out to check everything was OK. Totally professional. Would highly recommend, definitely the best pub food around for miles and miles . Well done Liam can't wait to return.

Good surroundings, bike friendly and a surprisingly good, cheap and cheerful Sunday roast. What's not to like? The sticky toffee pudding was notable by the sea of toffee sauce, which is always welcome.

Such a lovely place. Friendly staff. Good food and refreshing beer. I travel to the area on a regular basis and stay at the holiday Inn. This place is a mile away but worth the walk.

It was our 40th wedding anniversary, the kids did a surprise party for us Food great. Friends, family, neighbours, babies, and beer The staff were great (I don't really know this pub or it's staff) Oh! There were odd people drifting in dressed as ghosts and goulds (wonder if it's near Halloween?)

Hood night had watching 1 in 10 band. Great bar service, better than its ever been. Not a great venue to watch the band as not many places to sit and see them but then again it's not supposed to be a theatre. All in all. Superb.

Went in there with my daughter and her friend. Tables were filthy with the previous meals stuck to them. Got a waitress who tried to clean them with a dry paper towel. Pretty mingling.

Great atmosphere, very friendly staff, good menu with amazing food. Was staying in a hotel close by, and decided to venture out, headed here on the Monday night, was relatively busy, and the food was amazing, so came again Tuesday night. Bar staff very welcoming with an instant report, will definitely come here again if staying in the area. 10/10

Good atmosphere, hot evening so outside was very busy, with a lot of bikers. Which was cool seeing all motor bikes. Shock when two pints Guinness cost a lot more than in Wetherspoon's. And advertised cask ales, but none were available when we visited. So other half not so happy, he likes a good dark (stout) cask ale.

Went for the bike night. Lovely friendly pub, sat outside at a table with a big umbrella, and heaters (for winter), Easy to get to - loads of parking.

Best pub lasagne I've ever had. Not far from the hotels down the road and obviously much better. So, if you ever stay in the Holiday Inn or Premier Inn have a 20min walk for decent food and drink choice.

Great pub, perfect for a pint after work but also great for food, they offer a very good J.W Lee's Pint and the take away pizza they offer is far better than any of the major pizza chains and cheaper.

The selection is good. But it is way too big of a place. It felt like having a beer at the local stadium.

It's been a while but popped into the rope during a lunch hour. All new menu 😁😁 food was delicious and the staff are fantastic.

Got stuck on the M6 enroute somewhere else. Peed off, we pulled off the motorway and had a lovely meal. Really friendly staff and food was beautiful. Made a disappointing day much better xx
