Had a wonderful meal yesterday, Shared platter to start- fresh, crispy and so tasty. 'Special' prawn & chicken curry was divine, again fresh tasty and beautiful flatbread. My husband had the best steak he's eaten in a long time. Staff were so friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back. Vicki and Stephen.

Excellent food, excellent service. We were a party of 12, most of us had traditional Sri Lankan curry, with side dishes. We had starters, G and Ts, beers, wine etc ....so price reflects that all. It was very tasty and we were really pleased to hear a hint.... possibly more traditional Sri Lankan food to come!! Go for it, no one else can do it better than you guys.

We were looking for somewhere for dinner. We had the Sri Lankan special which was lovely and then I had the special dessert too. Yummy We look forward to the Sri Lankan menu being expanded and can't wait to try more.

Went for dinner on a Saturday evening. From the outside it looks like a traditional British restaurant but the menu is in fact Italian with a mix of Sri Lankan and seafood, which was a bit confusing.

The food was ok, we had pizza this time, last time Sri Lanka which was very good. But the atmosphere ambiance is all wrong. It's a big space and they have far too many lights on especially overhead . Turm the large overhead lights OFF and keep the wall lights on and place small lights on each table to help make the place cosy would be a good start. Then turn the music down. There are now 2 other sItalians in Malmesbury the Indian restaurant is about to close, so have the courage of your convictions and go with you Sri Lankan food, I'm not the first person to suggest this and I was won't be the last. Lovely family running it and I wish j you all the best.

It was the first time having dinner here and we were not disappointed! The service we received was great (we were a party of 4), the staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious with good portions sizes, we ordered the Sri Lankan curry which I highly recommended as it was amazing! Thank you!!

Both the pizzerias in Malmesbury were fully booked on a Saturday night but Roost had several free tables. Goodness knows why as the food was wonderful. I had the Sri Lankan special and my wife had canneloni. The canneloni was a s good as in an Italian ristorante, the chef clearly loves to cook. Apparently he used to run an Italian restaurant in Sri Lanka, hence the unusual menu with traditional Italian dishes plus a few Sri Lankan ones. The Sri Lankan special was so delicious - lovely coconut infused sauce with perfectly cooked green and red peppers and onions, and seasoned to perfection. The setting is fabulous, in a high-vaulted hall hundreds of years old. And the service was attentive and enthusiastic. Definitely going back!

The food was fantastic. Normally we have pizzas and really nice Italian food here but tonight we both had Sri Lankan food. A really lovely sharing platter to start. Spring rolls, samosas, mushrooms etc…. For main I had the special which was amazing. Chicken and prawn Sri Lankan curry with rice and flat bread. The flavours and spice was absolutely spot on. So tasty! My wife had the Sri Lankan curry which came with 4 different curried dishes. Nice to eat something different and with the option of really good Italian also. The waiters and waitresses were very nice too. Thank you!

We had a fantastic meal at our favourite table on the balcony near the window. I had the devilled king prawns, if you like spice this is right up your street. My fiancee had the pork fillet with a Caribbean sauce, it was so tender and the sauce amazing. The service is always friendly and professional, been 6 times now and never been disappointed.

Great food and amazing service. Our group of 12 also included a 4 month old baby and a dog and they were very accommodating. The baby was a bit grizzly and the lovely lady owner offered to hold the baby whilst we ate our dinner. All our meals were excellent, particularly the Sri Lankan curries.

We had a brilliant meal here with a range of food that worked for everyone. The Sri Lankan curry option was the best curry I've had for such a long time, almost thali style with its mix of different flavors.

I don’t normally write reviews but this place was fantastic. Friendly staff and great food . We had the special Sri Lankan curry cooked to our required heat. My wife said it’s the best curry she has ever eaten and it’s up there with my top 5 and I lived in the far east for 14 years. Malmesbury is lovely and this restaurant ticked all the boxes. We will be back .

Our first time at this fairly new restaurant, and will definitely be revisiting!! Acceptable prices for what the food was worth, wait time was perfect, food was cooked beautifully and all fresh! They really put a lot of thought into the presentation as well as flavour for all dishes. The service was amazing, very accommodating and friendly, they had a large party coming in and kindly moved us to a quieter area. Can’t wait to come back and have more of their gorgeous menu!

What the world is missing right now is an Italian / Sri Lankan restaurant …said no-one ever…I was in the mood for Italian so I went down that path …the shared garlic bread seemed to be missing any real hint of garlic and whilst my pizza had lots of toppings, none of them seemed to have any real flavour …totally edible but totally forgettable …wife’s Spaghetti carbonara was ok (albeit slightly underwhelming) and our child’s food was particularly dull even for a kids dinner !.. Service was keen/attentive boarding on too keen.. Have zero desire to go back for their Italian food but still tempted to checkout the Sri Lankan food !…baffles me why they haven’t gone all out down the Sri Lankan path as something authentic and good in this space can take my money all day long .. there are loads of Italian options in the area - this isn’t competing …but genuine authentic Sri Lankan would be great ! Come on guys - make it happen

I booked afternoon tea for 6 people, 1 gluten free and 1 gluten and dairy free, they catered for us all. The food was very good, with a good selection of savoury and sweet items. The waitress was lovely and very attentive. We will be going back to try the evening meal. Thank you to all the staff, first class all round. I would definitely recommend you try this lovely restaurant.

Wonderful stop for lunch on our tour of Malmesbury. Food was delicious, staff were so lovely and welcoming and a beautiful building to dine in. Easy to miss it from an unassuming entranceway. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely meal, the staff were welcoming and attentive. The menu offered a wide range of choice. Great for people with different preferences. We had the mussels to start and a calzone and Sri Lankan curry for mains. The food was delicious and at a reasonable price. Will be coming back again to try more of the menu. Disappointing food. Under cooked pizza with canned tuna in place of anchovies and Sri Lankan curry with no flavour or heat.

I do not know why there are poor reviews as we can honestly say, the food was excellent, service very good, lovely venue and we would recommend. We had lasagne, vegetable risotto and chicken Caesar salad. Prices very reasonable and we will return as the Sri Lankan meals smelt divine and regretted not trying one dish.

Great menu for a family where half love pizza and half love curry! The special was something special.

We went for a quiet Italian lunch. Roost came up perfectly with calamari, bruschetta and a seafood mixed grill. All perfectly cooked with beautiful flavours- even down to a super tasty garnish salad! But the most surprising treat was the Sri Lankan curry - what a wonderfully spiced, fresh curry with flat bread and rice. I can safely say it was one of the best dishes I have eaten. Super service and good wine. Absolutely recommend Roost to any Malmesbury visitors or residents.

Booked online for myself and my partner. We had not been there before so thought we would give it a try. When we arrived we were told that they were closed as they had a wedding booked and we should have received an email, but I had not. It actually came through as we stood there. They did not apologise and were very rude. Other people came in who had also booked online and had not received an email. It was a good thing that it was only the two of us and not a group. It spoiled our evening and we had to quickly find somewhere else to eat. They need to get their act together. That’s the first and last time we shall go there.

Well well well, What an amazing hidden gem we found last night! With never eaten in malmesbury before we were looking all over google! We went to one place and had a starter but the mains weren’t what we wanted really fancied so we searched for another place and Roost was around the corner! So off we Trot!! It was incredible! The food was insanely amazing! The service was impeccable! The cocktails ( we nearly went through the menu, ooops) was presented 10/10! We just really had a 10/10 experience! I already can’t wait to go back! Thanks to the team for making our evening so lovely!! We don’t get a night off very often, and we honestly couldn’t have had a better one!!

Best afternoon tea ever 😋 We saw that the Roost had started doing afternoon teas, so for my birthday I went today with my Mum and a friend. They do a variety of different cream teas and afternoon teas. We had the Julia sweet and savoury afternoon tea. It was amazing. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The sandwiches (tuna and cucumber, cheese and tomato, egg mayonnaise and cress) , cakes (variety of delicious cakes) fruit scones, jam and clotted cream and savoury (samosas, spring rolls, tempura prawns) were all delicious. Even the tea and coffee was lovely. Very reasonably priced, excellent freshly made food. We would definitely recommend going here to anyone. We will certainly be back. A big thank you to the lovely staff.

My first visit to Roost and the food was excellent. We had Sri Lankan curries which were really tasty, perfectly spiced and good portions. The service was friendly and attentive. The Guild Hall is a spectacular building. Atmosphere was a little lacking as it was quite quiet when we arrived (because it was early evening on a Tuesday) but improved as more guests arrived. Perhaps could have done with slightly louder and more ambient music, but otherwise can’t fault it. Please put more of your delicious Sri Lankan food on the menu! I will definitely return! Thank you.

The bottom of the pizza was burnt, the food was overpriced, and the portion size small, another customer loudly exclaimed as we ordered and unfortunately turned out to be correct. Menu says fusion but comes across as confused and neither done very well. Shame as our first visit under previous management was so much better. In response to your reply, I will check my bank account and get you the exact date time as you were definitely open and I definitely didn't dream eating such awful food. Shame you couldn't just apologise and address the issues. I have taken stars off because of your poor attitude!

What a delightful restaurant! From the moment you enter, you are warmly greeted at the door by the owner and her staff. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Very spacious and full of character. We chose the Sri Lankan devilled chicken and pork with vegetable rice...delicious! The waitress had checked our spice level and we went for medium which was just perfect. Warming without being uncomfortable! Charming venue, charming staff and tasty food - ideal night out!

Visited this restaurant whilst in Malmesbury and it was brilliant. Everything was top notch from food to service and the owners cannot do enough for you. It had the perfect balance of quality service and atmosphere along with the genuine dedication and care of the staff. We will be returning often and soon.

Amazing place to have food in Malmsbury . We were a party of 8 with different taste in food , some vegetarian and some vegan. I can say we were all satisfied. The menu offers dishes from the Italian tradition and dishes from the srilankan tradition. It is not fusion food, just a menu that offered two different styles of cuisine . The atmosphere is great and the interior is pretty clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and welcoming. 🥣Soup of day ***** Lentil and butternut- just delicious! 🍗 Chargrilled chicken ***** Served with delicious vegetables in a creamy sauce 🍖 mixed grill **** Served with fries and a little salad . I recommend you to order medium rare 🍛rice and curry ( great for vegans) ***** Everything cooked to perfection and tasted as if we were having the food in srilanka 🥓 pork steak **** 🍝seafood Risotto *** Rice was cooked well. Personally found it a bit sweet. 🥩 sirloin Steak ***** Asked for a medium rare - and it was cooked to perfection. The sauce was delicious too! Will be going back !

We had a really lovely meal here whilst staying in Malmesbury for the Easter Break. Service and food was fantastic and it's was great to be able to bring our little dog along too, they have a separate section that is dog friendly which is still a lovely part of the restaurant. Would definitely visit again if were back in the area.

Went to celebrate Mother’s Day. We had the most fantastic time. The food is very good quality, the staff were so friendly and kind and the venue gives off a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Mum given got a complimentary glass of Prosecco which was a nice surprise. Would recommend this lovely place to anybody families, couples or dining alone. My mother in law and partner had the seafood platter which they said was incredible as the seafood was fresh and good quality fish. (They love their seafood). I had the Sri Lanken devilled curry which was delicious and filling. Very glad to have tried it. My brother in law had the mixed grill and he said it looked like it was cooked with care and the lamb was incredibly moist. Thankyou for having us- will definitely be back!

A lot to like about this restaurant and a few issues that I hope will be addressed in time (the new owners only bought it 4 months ago so I'll cut them some slack) The good stuff: * Lovely restaurant, great atmosphere * Very good food * Very helpful and friendly staff The to-be-improved stuff: * It was cold. To be fair, we went on an unexpectedly cold day and the restaurant has a very high ceiling. This means even loads of heaters will struggle to warm that volume of air * The nature of the building means there are going to be drafts, especially when you're sitting next to a window (we had to move) * The vegetarian options for the dinner menu's main course were few and far between. It was a choice between Spaghetti Pomodoro and Summer Vegetable Risotto. Luckily the spaghetti was delicious but two veggie dishes out of twenty isn't a lot of choice Ultimately, we had a lovely meal, and the young man that served us couldn't have been nicer.

Went for a friends birthday. The best food I’ve had in ages. Really delicious. The staff were amazing and went out of their way to cater to our tastes including vegan. Great waiters Michael and James were really attentive and hard working. We will be back.

A smashing evening. Has the potential to become a major local centre for fusion food, which is badly needed and which I believe they are fully capable of delivering as they continue to diversify away from the Italian menu they took over.

This resaurant has recently been taken over by a lovely Sri Lankan couple. It was Italian and they still have Italian dishes on the menu, as well as some Sri Lankan dishes. I went wtih my husband and a friend and we had a wonderfully tasty meal. The mains were delicious and so were the desserts, beautifuly presented by the smiling owner. I cannot reccomend this restaurant enough and hope to be able to go back soon.

Had a fantastic evening in a very relaxed atmosphere whilst enjoying authentic Sri Lankan food. Both the pork and chicken rice and curry were flavorsome and the spiciness was adjusted upon request. Moreover, the deviled chicken curry was scrumptious.

I have never felt robbed after visiting a restaurant before, I did last night. Service was poor and slow. Although some staff were good two had attitude with everything they did. The Steak was terrible. Hard to cut despite being medium rare. For the price I could have bought 3 and cooked to a far higher standard. The entire menu is overpriced for what it is. I won't be visiting again. Lack of atmosphere and to hear who I assume is the manager at the bar saying they are too busy for more or something along those lines. It was nowhere near full and you could see they were struggling. There was 6 of us and it was the biggest waste of £200 ever. Edit: forgot to mention the menu didn't make any sense, banoffee pie said it had a digestive base but it they used rich tea. So weird.

Changed recently to Roost. Before it was a fine dining Italian place. The service is still amazing! The atmosphere brilliant ! The food that I got …. well I left and went to a pub next door. As it was my first time there, I ordered fish and chips to be safe. It came in 3 different small pieces. 2 were off.. the so much so when I tried it I had to spit into a towel. The batter was weird, tasted uncooked but was crunchy… an achievement. Extremely disappointing on the food but the care after I told them is commendable. I’m hoping I had a bad batch and will give it a try again. Hopefully this time I will leave happy 😭🫶🏾

It has just recently changed to The Roost and what a disaster! 2 poorly managed young waiters doing everything and I found the owner to be rude. The calamari tasted straight out of a packet, my steak had not been rested and was grey when cooked, and the juices spilled over my plate and down the table onto the floor and my dress. As for my mojito cocktail it didn't taste anything like. Such a shame, won't be re-visiting and hoping la campagnia comes back! We were so disappointed.

Shame, as friends have had great meals here. Our dinner on Saturday was very average. Two out of four meals were okay, but the chicken pasta dish was tasteless and the chicken was dry. The pizza was poor, the cheese was not melted and the dough at the centre was not cooked. Service was polite, but haphazard and quite disinterested. Probably an off day when we visited, as generally the reviews and feedback are positive.

We had a delicious meal here. The staff were friendly and attentive despite it being an unexpectedly busy Tuesday evening... I think most tables were full. My calamari and pizza were lovely.

The meal was okay. I ordered steak which was cooked perfectly how I requested. The Béarnaise sauce (at additional cost to the steak) however was cold as was the fresh roasted tomato. I didn't raise this with the waitress as the steak was fine so I didn't want that to go cold whilst they rectified the sauce and tomato. The staff were very friendly and there were no other issues.

Booked a 60th surprise meal for ten. Menu covered all for choice, good wine, service fantastic, staff very friendly, good price, all very impressed. Will go for Sunday roast next time.
