As visitor this was a great place for a couple of pint's of Guinness and lunch, tables outside for sitting in the sun. Great host and staff cheers from NZ

I just had the pulled pork rice bowl - it was so great! I've never had a taste like this - great!! Unfortunately only the absolutely empty plate - big compliments to the kitchen :)) Food: 6 out of 5 stars :)) However, there is hardly any service outside - but it is friendly ;-)

Lovely pub frequented by locals. The food is good and at normal prices. Historic barman who has worked there for 40 years, friendly and very kind, he advised us on how to best get around the city and the rest of the country, including things to see outside the classic tourist route.

Bartender generous with advice on the area and very welcoming. Very good food and excellent beers. The real Irish pub

We stopped here for lunch after visiting the city in the morning, due to its great location near the city walls, and had a very tasty meal. The burgers are very generously sized, fresh and absolutely delicious! We tried the Louisiana Smash and Rocker burgers which were both fantastic and a bit creative in terms of flavours. The Korean fries and garlic chips were great too. For kids - There is a very good choice of 5 or so dishes on the kids menu, our daughter loved the sausages. Atmosphere - calm and welcoming in the dining area, we were made to feel welcome with our child. There is also an outdoor deck with nice views. Service - quick, helpful and with a smile. I would definitely recommend this place for a meal or a drink.

Hard to find a place where it is dog friendly. Was so happy there was a outdoor eating place where I was allowed my dog.

Enjoyed the session when our tour operator and his friends got together at this pub just up the hill from our hotel. Enjoyed a few pints of Guiness and Harp!

Lovely little quiet bar. We visited in 2019 and again this June. Was a nice break away from the noise and bustle to end the evening!

A good place to listen to Irish music with the surprise of having the children of the musicians opening for their parents (before 8 p.m.). Otherwise it's a classic pub.

Delicious ! Located in a nice little alley, this pub/restaurant offers different indoor and outdoor spaces in a welcoming atmosphere. Good choice of street food type dishes, everything was super good! All at a very affordable price.

Came here for lunch whilst visiting Derry for the day. Staff friendly enough food and drinks were really good although disappointed they didn’t have any strawberry daiquiris! The Philly cheesesteak was amazing though and would definitely go back. Lots to choose from on the menu.

Popped in for lunch on our day trip to Derry. Lovely barman made me a green tea with the bag I provided. Had chicken melter with chips and the chicken curry with chips and of course a couple of Guiness. Great place to learn about the history of Derry 😊

Very nice atmosphere, we were very well received, the food excellent and the acoustic session perfect. A great family evening.

We were there tonight. The two bar staff/servers were great! 'The food was great especially the Korean chicken tacos. Unfortunately they allowed people to vape in the dining room who weren't there for dinner but for drinks. They were vaping around a child around 2years old. Disappointed that this was allowed. Not one of the staff said anything to them even though they had a full dining room.

Food is amazing! Nice to have somewhere in Derry that offers something a bit different to everywhere else. Living in Glasgow now but any time I'm back in Derry I will always go to the rocking chair for something to eat. Was great to see dogs allowed in the beer garden as well! Living in Glasgow I take my dog to most pubs/restaurants with me. Great to see somewhere in Derry becoming dog friendly now too. Highly recommend!

Excellent food & service! We loved the Korean chicken, vegetable soup & sticky cake (split all between 2 of us & it was perfect)!!

Sunday carvery fantastic, superb food, staff so attentive but not intrusive, ambiance relaxed. Could not recommend enough.

If you're looking for friendly staff, good service and beautiful food the rocking chair is the place. The food is absolutely beautiful and a great range to choose from. They don't rush you out and they don't stand around making you feel like you have to rush. I'll definitely be back!

Wow! This was our best pub stop in Ireland! The barkeep was amazingly helpful and funny! Menu has all the things marked (veg and vegan too). If you are looking for a wonderful pub stop with yummy food while in Derry - this is your stop!

Had a really tasty meal here (Korean chicken). The staff were very attentive especially Oisin. The Guinness 0.0 (alcohol free) is as creamy a pint as any regular Guinness I have tasted. Better than most even! Definitely recommend The Rocking Chair.

Fantastic meal and great service

Went Sunday 26th November 2023 ,four of us We had Sunday lunch. We enjoyed the meal but informed the girl who served us that the meals could have been warmer.The young girl took this criticism very well and said that they need to know these things, having said that we told her, we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The young girl who served us was a very pleasant young girl ,I believe she would of been the youngest server on ,as I did not ask her name,my daughter spoke to her at the bar while she was on a break. Keep up the good work,it is nice to be nice Thank you Cheers Chris Bleary Portadown

Great evening meal. I had the burger and partner had the pasta dish. Both very filling. Chefs do not scrimp on the food. Lovely atmosphere. Nice outside area which is covered and people can smoke if they wish. Great view.

10/10 overall. Food was outstanding. Gavin was an angel, Daniels service was impeccable. Service with a smile. The ambiance and vibes were immaculate. Would highly recommend to all near and far.

My husband and I have been here several times in our short stay in Derry. Staff and customers very welcoming. The food has been first class. A great variety offered and caters for food allergies. We will definitely come here again.

Excellent pub, nice and typical place, abundant and delicious dishes, we continued the evening in another room where not only did they let me taste the beers first but we were accompanied by a group of musicians with local music. A nice experience .

Food was delicious staff very polite and very helpful can't recommend burger enough absolutely delicious nothing to much problem for staff very welcoming

By far this was the best meal we had during our stay in Derry. I really liked being able to order fish with a salad instead of chips as served in most restaurants and to my surprise the tasty Caesar side salad came with chicken! My wife also ordered the haddock but opted for the garlic chips which were superb. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Derry, they are located just outside Butchers Gate on Waterloo Street.

Three tv’s were on with racing and the one staff I met was not nice so we left after one drink.

We spontaneously decided to visit and were pleasantly surprised. The menu was varied for a pub with some really interesting dishes. So we tried them and can confirm that even seemingly unusual food (e.g. Korean Spiced Fried Chicken) actually tasted very good and we were pleasantly surprised during our visit, especially in terms of cuisine. The staff was attentive and friendly. The mood was, as usual for a pub, happy and exuberant.

The rocking chair is a fantastic spot fantastic service from friendly staff will definitely be back if I return to derry great live singers and the bar is spotless the beer harden is fantastic also only had drinks never tried the food

Went here for a late lunch, the food was surprisingly amazing. Most dishes priced at 11.95 when in reality should be much more for the great food. Staff were well mannered and attentive. Good atmosphere, not a fan of such an open plan room while eating but that is just me. Would definitely recommend and be coming back for more.

Had a "refreshment break" on this pub. Had a Magners on the tap. Kids just enjoying sitting outside for some glass of water on a straw while the adults are enjoying their pints.

The Rocking Chair has a lovely atmosphere. Was visiting the city and passed by the place. Enjoyed the vibe and the location and had some drinks. My friend had some food and she enjoyed very much. Service was both, attentive and friendly.👍👍

Loved the food we ordered, we had a second thought of dining. We planned to have a drink only but ended up having a meal. We actually enjoyed it. Not much diners though. Try the Korean Chicken, you will love it and they serve with big portions.

Easily the best lunch on our entire Ireland vacation. We were blown away. The food was expertly prepared and not only looked amazing, but the taste was beyond perfect. We had the Korean chicken, chicken tacos, and beef tacos. (I didn't know you got 2 tacos per order). I would highly recommend this to anyone walking the walls of Derry, looking for a great lunch or dinner stop.

Usually a great bar to sit at, but last night one of the bouncers refused to let my friend into the female bathrooms. My friend is Trans-female, she looks like a female, talks like a female. He tried to make her go into the male bathrooms which wouldn't be safe for her. He then proceded to kick her out of the bar after she tried to go to the bathroom a second time. Disgusting behaviour

Booked for a party, charged £140 but the bar closed at 12:30. Other people still getting served downstairs but we were refused drink. Not worth anywhere near the money.

Good spot for Footy, has a good few screens

Myself and my partner went here for a late lunch this week and loved their new menu. Lots of options for mains and the small plates were class. We had 2 Currys 2 sides (fries & garlic bread) Small plates we had steak strips mac and cheese and fried cauliflower all really good and for £54! with 2 large soft drinks. Couldn't fault the food or service, really nice and very friendly staff. Highly recommed.

Visited the rocking chair, went up stairs for food place looked bland enough. I noticed a gentleman and lady arguing with bar staff over pricing mistakes can be made of course. I ordered the philly cheese steak well in was very poor the texture of food was like eating rubber, my son got a burger that you could bounce of a wall and it would not fall apart. Went to pay and was charged for 2 bottles of cider and 2 glasses of wine which we never ordered this is one place I never step foot in again ever.

We loved our visits to The Rocking Chair as we stayed at the Maldron Hotel. We met a very special and kind bartender. He was so professional, wonderfully friendly and willing to share information about the extraordinary walled city of Derry. This was one of our favorite bar/pub in Northern Ireland. It’s hospitality, variety of gathering spaces and view from the patio is by far the best place to meet a friend and enjoy some time together.

Walked in, seen a woman off her head on drink with what appeared to be her kid. We moved to the back bar and seen just as horrifying scenes (teenagers painted orange and dressed like call girls). Didn’t finish our drinks, stood up and left.

The rocking chair bar is a fabulous place to drink, eat and listen to some great music with a very impressive beer garden and outdoor drinking/smoking area, the staff are friendly and make you feel very welcome, we are on holiday in derry at the moment and it's places like this that make you want to return again.
