Well kept bitter and a cheerful welcome. Good hosts for 30 hot runners on a Tuesday night, beer and chips!

We had a family event that required booking all four rooms at once at the Robin Hood. Karen, the landlady, couldn't have been more helpful in accommodating our relatively large group (babies and dogs included!) and nothing was too much trouble for her. The rooms were comfortable and the access was easy. Food was delicious, service was both quick and responsive and our 3-night stay couldn't have gone any smoother. I would absolutely recommend staying at the Robin. Many thanks Karen for helping us to have such a memorable and enjoyable stay! Further update - 07.07.24 We had another family event in Rainow that meant some members needed to stay over for a couple of nights and so we booked out 3 rooms again, and, just as before, it was a really comfortable and hassle-free stay. The bar staff were really accommodating in providing food for the latecomers in our party (even though the kitchen was almost closed by the time they arrived) and we were all so warmly greeted by Karen. We were all blown away by the difference at the pub on this visit, compared to all our previous ones in recent years - lovely bar staff and a truly lively vibe on both the nights we stayed. We're going to find an excuse to visit again soon!

Arrived from Portsmouth for an overnight stay & received a very warm welcome from Karen the landlady. The Robin Hood is a charming traditional English pub surrounded by breathtaking scenery. My room in the adjoining cottage was warm & cozy. I was welcomed in to the bar once I'd unpacked & ordered the fish & chips which was very nice indeed. I was then very kindly invited to join onto one of the locals tables for the Wednesday night quiz...what a great group of people. The atmosphere was fun & the locals I sat with commented how much they enjoyed coming in. Retiring at 11pm I had the best night's sleep I'd had in ages, lovely comfy bed & so quiet & dark I will definitely be back next time I'm up North!

They don't do tea and coffee. Such a shame after a long walk. Update. 20/01/2024 Another 10 mile circular walk from The Robin Hood today. Cold but dry and ground frozen to prevent sinking in the muddy parts of the trail. I was starving on my return and enjoyed a homemade chilli and rice followed by apple crumble and custard. Surprised to see a new, bean to cup coffee machine. Had two decaffeinated coffee's. Good price and piping hot.

Very nice meal, especially the sausages. Bar staff seemed a little preoccupied/distracted. Though kitchen staff/server was friendly. Tea from a vending machine in paper cups which is never ideal. Cask beer was nice and seemed to have been well kept. Good value for money in Cheshire. Look forward to visiting again

We had a great evening, again another great pub 🍻 there is a new landlady and the food is generous and good, last week they fitted a log burner, got rid of the pool table and 2 sofas and a large rug are now in the place, this is now a cosy warm space, the pub is large and can accommodate a good number of people, there's a good variety of wines, ales, and other beer and larger's, the shipyard IPA is a favourite, there is a small bar area with tables and an open fire, there's also another seating area towards the end of the pub with another open fire and the access and egress for the toilets, smoke area and the car park and in the car park there is an outside seating area of a good size (I can't remember if it is covered) and there was 2 rooms in the small cottage in the car park, my mother in law stayed there a couple years ago and it was very well presented, although I don't know if it's available for rent at the moment, and the last thing is the view it would make a great base place for walking there's plenty of walks and some very interesting places to visit close by.

First time visiting since the new landlady took over this lovely village pub and wasn't disappointed. The menu is small but with good options, also a children's menu, I had the chicken curry, and my husband had the fish & and chips, which was a generous portion, mine had plenty of chicken. Reasonably priced, good atmosphere, lovely landlady, will definitely be repeat customers.

Only here for food and drink. I was pleasantly surprised by the food and would come back here again. Mainstream beers on tap but good selection. Patrons were fairly chatty as well. I'm surprised it was so quiet for a Saturday afternoon, maybe because there are no nearby hikes? Pictured is the pinwheel sausage and mash. Mash seemed homemade and sausage wasn't too meaty.

We are vegetarian and they made for us a burger with halloumi even while it wasn’t in a menu. I can't do a thorough review because I've only used it as somewhere to have a coffee before going for a local walk and a beer and some crisps on the way back. It's welcoming and comfortable - the wood fire is excellent. The food looks and smells as if a return visit to try it properly would be a good idea. Busy enough to make It feel well used but it might be quieter during the week. Reasonable selection of beers though the bottled beers are very limited. Plenty of the oversweetened fruit ciders that Sweden has foisted on us but they're everywhere. Ugh! Subsequent visit was very disappointing. Went there on spec about 2pm for a drink and something to eat during a walk to be told, rather abruptly, it was closed till 4pm and feeling it was my fault for being there! I won't bother troubling them again.

We found this by accident on holiday from Minnesota a number of years ago. On our next holiday this was a destination spot again. Very welcomed being strangers and left feeling like family. Stayed at farm b&b couple miles away. Also marvelous. Hope it will open again. We are planning one more U.K. visit and this is on our list!!!
