The Roasting Project - Coffee House in Fife

Stopped by today hoping for a late lunch after walking from Aberdour. After realising that only coffees/teas and cakes were on offer, we swithered on whether to stay or find somewhere else for lunch. Glad to say we stayed and shared the best yum-yum and pistachio and lemon blondie (the latter being out of this world!). Lovely cups of tea to wash it down. The staff were friendly, cheery and helpful.

The worst decaffeinated coffee I have ever had. It was so bitter and bad it was undrinkable. My husband's "normal" coffee was okay, could have been warmer.

Fabulous coffee .. with amazingly tasty brunches of Bombay eggs on bagels and a poached eggs on sourdough toast .. great service .. good location .. (bit cool on a cold day, but guessing it’s an expensive place to keep warm) .. one little pet dislike .. cold plates with hot food .. ok (ish) with the toasted bagel Bombay eggs, but poached eggs on toast would be better on warm plates … other than that it would have been a 5/5 🌟 …

This brilliant coffee shop/ roastery is a great place to go with family and friends. Book a window table for 6 people and room for a high chair. There are a couple of tables outside too. The coffee is ground on site and is delicious and flavoursome. I do decaf and I can honestly say it’s the best decaf I’ve ever had. Food is also delicious and healthy.. and yummy cakes! Open Thursday to Sunday, it is bookable.

Excellent place! Venue is very bright. A very warm welcome from the staff, explaining the specials to us which sounded yummy! Order came nice and quick and the food was delicious! Amazing menu choice too. The coffee was excellent…..the kids and rest of the family were very happy. We will be back!

I feel quite sad at writing this review as I have in the past reviewed it very favourably, used it many times and have recommended it to many people. We hadn't been in in last few months, due to personal reasons. Sadly what used to be a friendly, quirky, affordable coffee house has certainly lost its way. The place felt colder and not as welcoming. The menu is OK, but has lost its edge somehow. The staff didn't seem as friendly as before. Hubby ordered toasted brioche, with added bacon, but unfortunately the added bacon got lost in translation. When he asked for it, waitress was adamant he never asked for it, but offered to bring some... she did, very quickly, 2 very small rashers for £2 which she stated, we would have to pay when ordering our coffees .... and we dutifully did..... So let's get to the coffee..... One thing we used to be able to count on in TRP though, was a good cappuccino. Well what a disappointment that was. Neither my husband's decaf or my standard one looked or felt like a cappuccino but more like watery lattes. My husband only had one sip. We did raise the issue with a somewhat defensive and off hand waitress. Her response being that the person who made them might not have been very good.... Well sorry but in such a coffee house, staff should not be let loose until filly trained. In her fairness, she did offer a replacement or a voucher. We needed to go so asked for voucher. Waited 10mns.... no voucher.... which is OK as we sadly don't intend going back or recommending it. Really sorry about that as in a summer we regularly walked from silversands, had lunch then walked back. For their own sake, I really hope they get back on track.

Cafe is lovely, service was prompt and efficient, staff were lovely, food was fresh, hot and delicious, as was the coffee. Really refreshing to find such a wonderful cafe where everything is spot on. Will definitely be back.

Love visiting The Roasting Project whenever we are on Burntisland. Had the Christmas special sandwich today and it was great. The menu has a wide variety of choices with a wee TRP take here and there. The coffee is serious, consistently good and tasty. The staff are always happy to see you and service as you'd expect.

Coffee was warm not hot. Bacon roll had 2 tiny rashers sat side by side on the roll and still room to spare. Disappointing experience won't be going back.

Terrible! Popped in for lunch on a working day with my husband and his elderly Granny. We ordered 2 sandwiches and an eggs benedict, waited 45 minutes and checked to make sure our order hadn't been missed. We let them know we had an appointment to get to and couldn't really wait much longer. The front of house staff said we were next and kindly offered us a cake. We waited a further fifteen minutes and were forced to cancel the order as had now waited an hour for a basic tuna sandwich, coronation chicken sandwich and eggs benedict. Turns out they didn't even have chicken to make the sandwich! If we had known when we arrived that there would be an hours wait we could have decided whether we had time to do so, if it was sensible to make an elderly lady wait that long (probably not) and also if we knew there was no chicken we could have ordered something else. Also just a check in to let us know if the order was being worked on or any communication would have helped. Used to really love this spot but it's really noticeably gone downhill over the past year. Such a shame. Staff were apologetic and the meal was comped with one basic tuna sandwich to go but still a really bad experience. More so often it's really unpredictable as to how it will go there.

Great place for breakfast - lovely food, lovely staff and lovely surroundings. Great value for money. We will definitely be back.

The service we received at lunch today was above and beyond. The gentleman who greeted us was happy to move tables to suit our party of 9 (6 children included!) The staff were very friendly and helpful and kitted the kids out with crayons and colouring paper. The food was delicious. The children’s macaroni went down a treat and the burrito was fab. We will definitely be back.

Popped in on a rainy day as it looked like our soggy doggy wouldn't get in the way with how spacious this cafe is. It's got a lovely feel to it, light and airy, lovely baking on display, which we sampled along with some tasty, homemade tasting soup. Interesting selection of teas and friendly staff. Fascinating to see the coffee equipment in use on the way to the loos too!

The food is delicious and well presented. The staff are friendly and helpful - very quick service. Highly recommended 👍

Great coffee shop in fife. If you are looking for a place th at offers more than a bog standard latte you will get a great pour over or flat white. If you are into your coffee go here.

Food was ok as had Haggis and Black Pudding Rolls that arrive quite promptly. Cafe Latte was 10 minutes later and luke warm. Had to chase for the coffee. No apologies for delayed coffee. Don’t think we will be back.

We stopped by not long before closing time yesterday . We were made very welcome. The coffee was excellent. We ordered Macaroni and Cheese which came with amazing garlic sourdough toast, a chicken wrap and a potato dish with a poached egg on it. Potatoes were a bit bland but everything else excellent. It’s a beautiful space too. Will definitely return when next in the area!

Dropped in for some much needed lunch! We ordered a Reuben sandwich x 3 which was delicious with homemade pickled sauerkraut which was out of control tasty. Coupled with the wonderful friendly service I would thoroughly recommend this hidden gem!

Visited today with my grandson. Thoroughly recommend The Mexican for lunch. It was amazing. So tasty. Service from friendly efficient staff saw our meal arriving quickly despite the coffee house being busy. Definitely be back.

This is a bright spacious restaurant with consistently great food. I have visited many times & each & every one of the staff are all very helpful & friendly. It is truly enjoyable experience, which I travel well out of my way, just to visit....

We felt very welcome and were found a table very quickly. There is a very family friendly feeling in the restaurant with very courteous and thoughtful staff who made sure all the customers were well looked after.

Was lucky to get a table today in this great cafe on Burntisland high street. Decided on the special which was great. They use local produce from their high street and roast their own coffee. Great service too. Will definitely be back.

Had the most beautiful lunch at this Coffee House in Burntisland. The menu is excellent. I loved the feel of the place, modern, but cosy at the same time, I could easily spend hours here. Really friendly staff, just all in all a great experience....

Food was ok and coffee was ok I do live locally and use the cafe often but was in last Sunday and they were allowing people in with dogs there were 4 large slavering dogs in the place was smelling of dog I don’t dislike...

Arrived 20 minutes before closing time. They were more interested in going home than making our visit a pleasurable one.

Stopped in for coffee and a bite to eat. Asked for 2 large long black coffees which were served promptly but the food did not arrive for 15mins. The coffee was absolutely terrible very strong with a terrible aftertaste. I tried adding sugar and milk...

Worst sandwich ever. The bread was dripping in oil, when I picked it up or pressed my knife into the bread oil oozed out like it would from a sausage! The useless staff said “its because it has been grilled” but unsure about how grilling...

Service was extremely slow. Food on the whole was fine but poached eggs were cold and hard. Waiting staff far outnumbered kitchen staff.

On our way to our hotel in Kirkcaldy we stopped for coffee and cake at this lovely cafe The cappuccinos were very well made and the cakes were absolutely delicious Would definitely recommend

Went here for lunch with family and ordered the Reuben. This is quite frankly the best sandwich I have ever eaten and I would gladly make the trip back there to have another one. Coffee and cakes were great too

High expectations, but sorely disappointed! Food came along an hour after our coffee, and this was after we inquired/reminded staff twice that we were still waiting. Coffee was good, nice environment but food was average. Expensive for what is was. The really poor customer service...

Just had a fantastic family breakfast at the roasting project. The food was amazing, well presented and tasty. The coffee was superb and the place has a great feel. Staff were really friendly. We'll be back to try the lunch menu very soon.

Coming from Edinburgh we traveled to Fife for a day out and ended up in this unassuming café in burntisland. We really enjoyed the visit. Food was Scottish fare and we had the sharing plate combo of hummus warm flatbread and a variety of dip's....
