We went for a family Sunday lunch. Setting and atmosphere good, staff were attentive enough but the food let it down. The food was warm at best and the gravy terrible. I needed my food reheated whilst other family members ate. Our other experiences at the 18 restaurant have been better.

We held our post-wedding brunch at 18 Restaurant and could not be more thrilled with how it went! Even though this was a new type of event for them, they were so easy to work with and things went perfectly. We rented the entire restaurant from 10AM - 1PM and the space was perfect for a relaxed brunch. The food really exceeded our expectation and the staff ensured it was kept hot, replenished regularly and tables kept clean as guests circulated in and out. Really appreciate all the work of the staff and would definitely recommend if you're thinking of hiring for an event!

Amazing Sunday lunch by far one of the best I’ve had, We had the 3 courses deal and were blown away with the quality of food for the price. That fish cake starter was very tasty and presented beautifully, the roast beef was excellently cooked and the trimmings were perfect. Apple crumble dessert was outstanding. Service was great and staff very attentive, definitely be back for this again in the near future.

My wife and I dined in the 18 restaurant on our anniversary in June, we were excited to try the restaurant after being unable to book a table the previous year. Initially when we first arrived, we were led to the bar by our snooty and indifferent maître d. Why is this lady employed in a front of house position when she can’t even manage a smile or any warmth with customers as they arrive is beyond me. We took a seat at the bar and the friendly barman broke from a team meeting they were having in the restaurant. It was a little odd we were admitted to the restaurant but all the staff we’re occupying the bar area having a team meeting and our barman was given disapproving looks by others when he broke away to serve us. How weird focusing on customers when your having a meeting to focus on customer service. We then took our drinks onto the balcony. The view is indeed spectacular! However, when you look past the view the balcony is badly maintained by the management. There was dirt everywhere and missing and worn chairs. As we discovered over the course of our holiday this was an ongoing theme with the Marine Troon group, great locations but terribly run and overpriced establishments. Our waiter arrived, again completely lacking in any charm. Dour, disinterested and bored I guess because they automatically at the tip at the end there’s zero incentive to make even the slightest effort. Warm, inviting service at this restaurant forget about. It wasn’t even a busy night. After some okay entrees, my steak arrived. It was huge, spectacular even! but at the price was it worth it? No way! It didn’t feel like a £115 cut of beef, not great marbling, a bit tough and frankly a bit bland, I have to say like I saw it, I’ve had way better at a quarter of the price down the local pub. Would I recommend the 18 Restaurant? For drinks at the bar yes, it has a good feel overall and one of the best views in the world of golf but as a restaurant it’s a complete meh. Overpriced and overhyped, if you transplanted this restaurant to somewhere else without the view no one would recommend it. The restaurants and bars at the Old Course Hotel are all far superior and with arguably better views. If you are a couple looking for a romantic night out I would recommend them in a heart beat over this establishment.

Went into Rusacks Hotel and tried to book dinner for two at Restaurant 18 in the hotel's Bridge Restaurant, but were told that wasn't possible ("two different systems",though bookings for the Bridge could be made from Restaurant 18! (!. Went outside to phone and book. Very busy apparently, so made an early 5.45 booking. Were shown to table very near a draughty door. Asked for another table. Not possible. Waited and waited - no-one came to take our order. Asked for service and another table. Now possible. Order taken. Main course acceptable. Dessert - Baked Alaska - had not defrosted, so we had to.give up on it. All in all, a very disappointing and frustrating evening. One hand clearly doesn't know what the other is doing. We shall not be returning.

Disappointed. Menu choice poor. Food arrived cold. Very noisy. The highlight of this visit was the view. This restaurant has really gone downhill in recent months. Not a dining experience, more sports bar. It’s a real shame. I have to say poor in every department. Service is slow, however the young man who was our main waiter was very nice. Clearly embarrassed by our complaint and apologised several times. We will not be going again.

The views were fantastic and that’s where it stops. Our water, drinks and orders were taken quickly. The starters came out incorrectly, my son didn’t receive his, and there was no one to question as we were properly ignored. At the dinner round, his starter came with his dinner. After we finished dinner we waited at least 30 minutes for our dirty dishes to be cleared. We were never offered any more water or drinks. Dessert came at least another 30 minutes later after we inquired. Again, no water or drinks offered as the waitress was in and out in a flash. The other tables around us were seated and finished before us. We have eaten at many restaurants in the area and the service here was in fact the worst. For a small set menu of a few items we were there 2-1/2 hours. The food was fine.

We struggled to find good quality food in St Andrews. We booked 18 after a run of poor quality meals and we were hoping for a better experience. The food was definitely the best we had in St Andrews. I had the kedgerie to start and it was lovely. Then I had steak to follow which was a bit overdone vs what I ordered but still tasty. But the service let the place down. We tried to have a drink at the bar before our meal and it was a stressful experience. One of the waiters yelled at another “why are you offering still or sparkling when you know we haven’t got any f-ing still water!!!”. And then proceeded to throw things around. We quickly asked to be moved to the table. The same waiter was almost running around the restaurant, not really the relaxing experience you want for dinner. Some of the staff are great but one or two need a bit more training. One of our sides was forgotten about and delivered towards the end of the meal, but the manager kindly took this off the bill. But again this points to where service is lacking. There was a large table of extremely loud and overly enthusiastic Americans, and the staff had done what they could to seat people further away so their experience wasn’t impacted. This was definitely appreciated. After a week in St Andrews we’d reached out limit of loud and excited Americans 😊

Disappointing! The location is fabulous and the view was stunning. We wish the experience matched it but we were disappointed on so many levels. We were handed stained paper menus to start with. The stained silverware was mismatched and glassware was cheap stock. Not what we expected in an elevated setting with higher price points. The shelf behind us was thick with dust and the fake ivy plants throughout was not covering it up. The bar didn’t have blue cheese olives for martinis, We felt rushed by the server to place our order, then ignored once we got started. Had to flag server down to order wine for dinner and then for a check. The bread was delicious. Being that the food was mediocre We were so looking forward to our meal, and were From the service to the food to the restaurant in need of cleaning we would not recommend.

We were looking to have tea with my daughter while she was at Uni. We were late in making reservations and went to 18. It was a nice but “don’t look too close” experience. We sat at a table with crumbs and dried spills visible. Which was 🥴 but when water was poured into my glass and I tried to lift it, I found it was adhered to the table surface. It could have been more. The server was not really on the spot with the tea, and brought teas we didn’t ask for. The view was beautiful and the company was superb.

Fabulous location overlooking the 18th Green of the R&A! However our Sunday lunch was very disappointing. Drinks in the bar ok (but no dry sherry)! Our order was taken and we all ordered beef, one medium rare, one medium and one well done. Our meals arrived, medium rare ok, well done ok and the medium was very rare! The waitress took it away, then another waiter explained the beef could only served either medium rare or well done! The waitress returned with it well done! We asked for English mustard & horseradish - after 5 mins - nothing, we asked the head waiter and waited another 5 mins. Our waitress was apologetic, only french mustard available! Our group thought the beef was very tough, parsnip limp and tasteless, greens overcooked. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings passable. No one asked us if the food was ok.Two of us ordered dessert, they came and were just dumped on the table with two spoons & no forks. Overall, what should have been an enjoyable lunch was spoiled by shoddy service and poor food!

Our booking was 7pm, we arrived at 6.50. 3 courses served and bill on our table by 7.30, I wondered if my remaing wine was going to be whipped away to get rid of us and sure I have been in McDonald's longer! Our waitress was excellent, however little to no break between courses (not her fault). Then almost as soon as we said no coffee, the bill was down, no option to sit and relax and have another drink. To me, it's about the experience, not just the food, however didn't have enough time to enjoy the experience.

Orkney Scallops were over cooked, the cold staters came up far to fast so must of been pre plated. It has the classic upscale country club feel to it. I loved watching the bartenders whip up cocktails and although it wasn’t super warm we popped out on the patio for the views. Would love to go back for a sunset. Our server was great, super friendly and she helped when we couldn’t make a decision. We had the ARRAN CHEDDAR SOUFFLE to start which was next level. We ate here over two months ago and I’m still thinking about it. The ball and chain had the COAL FIRED CELERIAC STEAK and I had the PEARL BARLEY RISOTTO which was delicious. They didn’t have a ton of vegetarian options but it is a smaller menu and I was very happy with the items I had. We had dessert because Are you even Living if you’re not eating desert on vacation?! My partner and I had dinner at 18 and it was some of the best steak we have ever had. We had the chateaubriand and I was blown away by the different sauces and accompaniments that come with the meal, all of them fantastic. Highly...

We had a fabulous evening here with fantastic food. We particularly appreciated the unexpected birthday touches. Great atmosphere and service. I would highly recommend it and we will certainly be back.

Great food and ambience! On the 4th floor overlooking the 18th hole. The sirloin and lobster were well executed. Finished with the salted caramel tart and chocolate mousse! Service was excellent and added to a wonderful evening!

BrewDog: A Hidden Gem for Non-Drinkers. I'm not a drinker (ever, at all!!), but I recently discovered a hidden gem at BrewDog during my visit to Scotland. The chicken in the "Hoppy Meal" was absolutely phenomenal. Crispy, juicy, and perfectly breaded, it was the best chicken I've had in years!! And to my surprise, their beer options were equally impressive. I tried the "Iron Brew" beer as a suggestion from our waitress, Samantha, and and it was like liquid candy!!! I drank the whole thing!! I've never drank a beer before and I'm 31. As an American, finding ranch at this place was a big deal! It's a staple sauce for so many of us, and my friends and I were thrilled to finally find it!! The staff were all great, but Samantha, was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, suggesting the perfect pairing for my meal, and my friends as well. She was so kind and funny and really went over the top for us. If you're looking for a delicious and casual dining experience, BrewDog is a must-visit!
